Stopping power: Average (regular strength bolt), Very-High (super-charged bolt), Very-Low (stun blast)
Recoil: Low (regular strength bolt), High (super-charged bolt), None (stun blast)

Special Features:
  • The OS-109 “Fate” comes with five modes of fire:
Stun Blast – semi-automatic - When the tripper is depressed, a ten-foot cone of stun energy is unleashed. This energy processes enough electrical energy to stun the nervous system of most humanoid creatures, causing temporary paralysis and/or unconsciousness.
  • o Regular strength bolt – semi-automatic – Each time the trigger is depressed, a single blaster bolt is fired.
  • o Regular strength bolt – three-round burst – Each time the trigger is depressed, three blaster bolts are fired.
  • o Regular strength bolt – automatic – When the trigger is depressed, multiple blaster bolts are fired in a continuous rate of fire until either the trigger is released or the weapon depletes its power supply.
  • o Super-charged bolt – semi-automatic – When the trigger is depressed, a single super-charged blaster bolt is fired. The bolt fired from this setting is highly powerful for a weapon of this class and has considerable stopping power. The trade off to using this mode in increased recoil, decreased effective range and drastically decreased ammunition capacity. Also, excessive use of this setting will trigger an automatic shutdown of the weapon in order to prevent an overload.

Strengths:

  • Versatile: With five modes of fire (detailed above) available to user, this weapon provides an answer to a number of potential combat situations.
  • Super-powered shot: At its highest setting, the “Fate” is able to deliver super-powered a blaster bolt with a power quotient seen in higher end military grade heavy blaster rifles or minor blaster cannon emplacements.

Weaknesses:
  • Maintenance intensive: Due to its numerous firing modes, the “Reaper” is a far more complex device than most traditional blaster pistols. It requires the user to be familiar with a rather intensive maintenance regimen in order to keep the pistol in working order. Failure to do so will result in quick and drastic decrease in weapon performance, up to and including explosive overload.
  • Automatic shutdown: To prevent the weapon from overloading during the use of the super-powered bolt setting, the weapon will automatically shut down for a period of three minutes after ten consecutive super-powered bolts have been fired in the span of five minutes or less. This safeguard cannot be overridden or negated.
  • Fragile: Due to the complex nature of this weapon, the Fate is not the most rugged design. It is more susceptible to physical damage than most blaster pistols and should not be dropped or otherwise miss-handled. Failure to follow these guidelines may damage the weapon to a point of diminished or non-operation.
  • Highly susceptible to EMP/Ion attacks: The circuitry housed within the Fate is highly susceptible to EMP, Ion or other electronic attacks. Attacks of this nature will leave the weapon inoperable.
Description:

The OS-109 “Fate” Variable Strength Assault Rifle is Obsidian Star’s mainline assault weapon. Based heavily on the principles developed for the OS-104 “Reaper” Pistol, this rifle provides longer range, higher stopping power in the super-charged bolt mode and increased ammunition capacity, at the expense of decreased reload speed. Like the “Reaper”, this rifle provides five modes of fire making it a versatile weapon. The main drawbacks however, are an intensive maintenance regimen and the weapon’s fragile nature.
