OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To make a projectile assault weapon capable of firing differing types of projectile rounds.
  • Image Source: Here (Rifle) and Here(Dual Drum Magazine)
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Powder Propelled Projectile Rifle
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Heavy (with standard 30 round magazine), Very Heavy (with selective dual drum magazine)
  • Ammunition Type: 10mm Powder Propelled Projectiles
  • Ammunition Capacity: High (60 round capacity using selective dual drum magazine), Average - (30 rounds using standard magazine)
  • Effective Range: Long Range
  • Rate of Fire: Low (semi-automatic fire setting), Average (three-round burst fire setting), High (automatic fire setting)
  • Stopping Power: N/A (this is based on the type of ammunition used)
  • Recoil: Very High
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Three types of firing settings:
    • Semi-automatic - One round is fired for each pull of the trigger
    • Three-round Burst - Three rounds are fired for each pull of the trigger
    • Automatic - Rounds fire continuously while the trigger is pulled
  • Selective Dual Drum Magazine:
    • This weapon comes with a dual drum magazine that can fit 30 rounds per side. There is a switch on this magazine that allows the operator to choose from which side of the dual drum the weapon is fed from, which gives the operator the ability to switch between two types of 10mm rounds quickly and without having to reload the weapon with a different magazine while in combat
STRENGTHS
  • Rugged: Unlike other Obsidian Star weapons, the Predator has been designed to withstand extreme conditions. It can fire in just about any environment so long, including when submerged.
  • Selective Drum Magazine: The weapon's selective drum magazines allow the operator to choose between two differing types of ammunition during a firefight without having to reload the weapon, giving the operator additional versatility while in combat
WEAKNESSES
  • Heavy: When compared to standard blaster rifles, this weapon is very heavy to carry. While not required, many operators find that to use this weapon for an extended period of time is difficult unless one is wearing some form of powered armor or strength assist device.
  • Awkward: The balancing of this weapon has been called very counter-intuitive by most operators who have used it. Coupled with the weapons very high recoil rate, most operators find it very difficult to fire with any accuracy over any real amount of range when using the three-round burst or automatic fire settings.
DESCRIPTION

Designed to work with the new lines of Obsidian Star 10mm specialized projectiles, this weapon was built as an alternative to traditional energy weapons. It utilizes a selective dual drum magazine that allows the weapon to fire two differing types of projectiles (although a standard magazine can be used if needed). The weapon has three modes of fire, semi-automatic, three-round burst and automatic and is designed to remain operational in the most extreme of environments. In contrast, the weapon is very heavy and awkward to use and has a powerful recoil that affects an operator's ability to be accurate at longer ranges while using the three-round or automatic fire settings. Rails are included both on top and underneath the barrel to allow for a variety of aftermarket optics and other accessories.
