Skirmish The Reliquary | SO Raid on Ossus Enclave

Objective: 3 - Destroy the Temple
Location: Woods outside the temple grounds
Tags: Open
Adrienne couldn't help the cruel grin that spread across her lips.
She was free.
No longer was she bound by the iron will of her former master; no longer was she his. She no longer fit into the pretty little mold he'd cast for her. Now, a sith Knight, she looked to inflict her will. Today, that meant making an introduction of sorts -- to the Sith Order and to the Jedi. They didn't know her name yet... but perhaps they would in time.
Soft steps brought her forward, a wretched swarm of Sithspawn followed obediently in her wake.
"Time to eat," she said, turning back to her creatures. "Go."
The Devourers did not hesitate. Heeding the words of their mistress, they bounded towards the temple and would make a meal out of any unsuspecting Jedi they might find. They were ravenous. After all, she'd been starving them for days in anticipation of the attack.
There was a small cluster of Rakhouls at Adrienne's heels, waiting their turn. A gleaming gem clutched in her palm ensured their cooperation -- she hadn't made these creatures, but rather found them in the ruins of a great archive. Once they were spent, she'd have to seek out her own methods of creation. But these would do... for now.
Mostly planning to play background noise! But feel free to kill some sithspawn! :)

"From a very Force-focused civilization to Ossus? It's definitely possible," Valery said, as she met her husband's gaze. It was definitely strange to see them striking at something so far away from their own borders, and Ossus wasn't exactly a place where many Jedi gathered anymore. All it had was ancient knowledge, crystal caves, and other Force mysteries. Thus, her conclusion was the same as her husband's.

Both about the nature of this attack, and that it would be different.

This wouldn't be the same as with the Aing-Tii.

"I'm always ready~" she smirked and gently bumped into him.

"You know, it still feels strange being here. The last time..." she let her hand drift over her stomach, and still felt Kaahlil's blade burn. It had been one of the worst days of her life, and she had never gotten so close to dying. If it wasn't for Kahlil and her Padawans...

"But this time will be different."

OBJECTIVE - 1
Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania | Aculia Voland Aculia Voland

A place of knowledge so dearly and meticulously maintained - a sanctuary for those seeking to learn of the Jedi and their past, sacred information and things even darker that are not so easily available to a great many minds. This was part of Draulvesi's profession, although it hadn't been of dire importance as of late.

Part of her oath was to protect and work closely with librarians, guard their lives and the rich history of the Order. She'd done just that, yet a deep pain still echoed throughout her body, guilt and shame that screamed from the deepest pit of her heart.

While casually filtering through data of no certain kind, what sounded like an explosion gave way to nearly instant hysteria and panic - librarians fleeing and Jedi peers looking on in confusion and deep concern. Draulvesi's previously calm demeanor was ripped away from her, now replaced with uneven breathing and racing thoughts.

Why was this happening? Of course no answer was needed to be uttered, there was only one real explanation for this sudden entropy.

Rushing through corridors, she could make out the presence of one other Jedi she'd sensed previously - another Padawan like herself. Reaching out through the Force, Draulvesi attempted to narrow the woman's location, all the while speaking briefly to gain some understanding of the predicament at hand. "Things are happening fast. We've not met, but you were closest, so I'm seeking you out. I'm coming to you."

Once again they wished to take.

Once again they haunted her waking life.

Once again, they would be made to understand.

""You Jedi are renowned for your cowardice. And no one will claim you but me, Maeve Linahan. Your friends can have you only after I've had my fill. In fact, I think I'll rend you limb from limb, so that they each get a piece.""

"Why, aren't you generous."

Maeve glared down Darth Vyle. She might've lacked the wit to keep up with her taunts, but this wasn't a battle of wits, this was a battle of survival.

She raised her lightsaber, strengthening it with the Force again, but unlike the rippling fire, the spell-bolts Vyle conjured crashed into her like heavy-grade slugs. She almost gasped at how powerful each blow was, and every time, no matter how deep she dug her heels into the ground, it pushed her back one foot after another. Faye had been strong their last fight, but now? She was monstrous.

Utterly on the defensive, Maeve fought to stay on balance as Vyle approached. She'd faced many Sith in the past, but none with this much raw, arcane power. Part of her feared their little duel would end only moments after starting.

Fortunately, an idea came to mind. Small, and weighing at least fifty pounds.

Between the next spell-bolt, Maeve reached out and made a motion of cutting her hand through the air. A split instant later, a shard of debris flew towards the side of Vyle's head, threatening to crack open her skull like a goose egg.

Whether or not that worked, it made little difference to Maeve. Whatever opening she got, she used, and the Jedi Shadow closed what small space remained between them, moving like liquid fire. Lightsaber aimed to her chest, she thrust it forward, trying to stake the witch right in the heart.

Crafty.

Darth Vyle had forgotten just how dry and serious Maeve could be. The Jedi liked to preach that it was the dark side that robbed one of their individuality, stripped them of their person, and yet Maeve was more a blade than a sentient being. The Jedi pointed her in a direction to cut, and she cut it, without question. Well, even those types could be useful.

Vyle did nothing to directly counter Maeve's little trick. A smirk touched her lips, and then she was gone, the debris her Jedi foe had sent flying found only red smoke for purchase.

At the exact same moment, Vyle appeared on the other side of Maeve. She could have attacked, but psychological warfare was sometimes more effective, so she merely clasped her hands at her waist and waited for Maeve to notice.

"I could've killed you, you know?" she said, her Dathomirian accent creeping to her voice the way it sometimes did when her blood ran hot. "Many times, back on Kef Bir. The spiders' minds were pliable. There were hundreds, but it would've required the barest effort. And, of course, there was the throne room."

Her eyes took on edge. Instead of green, scarlet light began to shimmer in them. "You know what I am. I think you are beginning to see what I can do." Ice gathered in her tone. "Don't insult me with parlor tricks again."

Then, the Sith witch closed her eyes, and in the next split second unleashed an earth-rending shriek, it's soundwaves aimed at Maeve. The spell carried enough force to crack the platform beneath them, shatter eardrum, crush teeth in their mouths. She had to admit her curiosity at seeing how Maeve got herself out of this one. But if she did, dark power was already building in Vyle's hands, prepared to go toe-to-toe with a Shadow.

"That's another confirmed drop pod, more beasts coming out of it just like the last one." The captain's report was punctuated by another bout of rumbling and cracking, as if miniature earthquakes were racking the Praxeum itself. "As long as they're not hunting our forces then we have nothing to worry about, let them steal the attention of the Jedi all they like." Alisteri had no qualms about letting some monsters die in their stead if it meant an easier assault after all.

As to where exactly the beasts were coming from and who was sending them, that was a matter that could be attended to at a later time. With the demolition and flame squads at his back the Knight lead the charge towards the Hall of Knowledge, soon having to step around and over the bodies of fallen creatures, Jedi, and Sith alike. "Alright, stay together and focus on finding good areas to set charges or start fires. We're aiming for maximum destruction here. I will draw the attention of the defenders but don't think that your work will be unhindered or unnoticed. Be ready for anything."

The soldiers were quick to sound off their acknowledgement before Alisteri made the final step across the threshold into the Hall. Already the inhabitants within were battling more creatures, entering through what appeared to be a melted crack in one of the walls. All the better for him then. "Forward! Slay them all!" He raised up his lightsaber as he charged forward, his sword clasped in the other hand, with the squads filtering in behind him to provide covering fire for both his and their own advances.

As the trio of the Emperor, his sycophant, and Aculia continued to make their way down into the depths of the Ossus sanctuary, she kept her senses peeled for true potential foes. Not the little temple security force they had run into so far, being slaughtered by the Emperor as if they were insects, but actual Jedi who might pose at least the slightest threat. So far she had sensed nothing. They had to be deeper into the complex, where the most vital hidden knowledge and teachings were.

It must be really precious to them, if they are willing to sacrifice so many of their followers in order to buy them even a moment’s more time.

And then, she felt it. Not one, but two presences, brimming with the Light Side of the Force, though more like gentle candles than the blazing suns one would expect of true Jedi Masters. Dangerous in numbers if you were not careful…but they did not have such numbers today. They were not quite directly in the way yet, but once they sensed the Emperor, they would surely come, out of some suicidal sense of duty most likely.

Just two Padawans. If the Emperor himself confronts them, they will be slaughtered. Fools, they should be evacuating or assisting in healing, not going head to head with real Sith when their training is not even complete. Are the Jedi really stretched so thin these days as to have only them as our opponents?

She rubbed her forehead in irritation with her free hand. What to do?

I prefer to capture rather than kill when it comes to them if I can. Removes them as a threat, gets me a possible ransom from either side later. Too few Force wielders in the galaxy as is. I should go deal with them.

“My Lord, surely you must sense them as well. Off in the small library adjacent to our objective. Children with lightsabers, not Jedi, I think. They are not worth your precious time. I will deal with them so you can continue ahead without delay or distraction. I will rejoin you once they are neutralized.” She announced, peeling off from the Emperor and his sycophant and heading down one of the branching paths available to them.

Reaching down to her belt, she pulled out her blaster pistol and held it in her left hand, flicking it onto stun rather than lethal. Her lightsaber she gripped in her right, turned off for now. After a short time, she reached the shuttered, wooden panel doors engraved with various images of heroic Jedi and peaceful calming imagery, beyond which a smaller library stood. Beautiful. She would prefer not to destroy such artwork if possible.

“Hello there, kittens!” She cooed loudly, enhancing her voice just enough with the Force so that the two Padawans could hear her. “There is no need for a fight today! Come quietly, surrender, and no one has to get hurt. Just a bit of a vacation until one of your masters comes up with sufficient inducement to return you!”

Things were rapidly going downhill it seemed for the defenders. A’Runda was glad that he managed to put down the massive beetle-like monster that was assaulting the Hall. But there was a lot more where that came from it seemed. Grabbing the bolt of his sawed off rifle he chambered another round in. The empty shell of his previous shot still smoked as it fell to the floor below.

Now from another side of the Hall the floor began to rumble violently as part of the foundation cracked and made away from what seemed like a giant worm. Great, more bugs. More vicious vermin began to rampage inside now. They seemed to be headed by some sort of matriarch or something. Quickly A’Runda holstered his slug thrower and drew his lightsaber. The top of which came a crackling white blade. Followed by another from the bottom. The double-bladed lightsaber had a howling noise too. A pack of large insectoid creatures began to rush him as he did.

Turning his hips some and raising a leg in a powerful motion he tossed his lightsaber. Launching the twirling pair of vibrant plasma blades to adapt to clear a narrow path through the beasts for him to rush the feminine figure leading the creatures. A’Runda was never very gifted in many of the typical Force techniques. But by bonding with the kyber crystal in his weapon he was able to telekinetically summon it back to his hand.

But just as he was about to make his counter assault brief premonition in The Force warned him. Quickly A’Runda cocked his head to the side, narrowly dodging a blaster bolt. He was being flanked. From his other side came a Sith rushing in, lightsaber in hand and with a team of soldier’s covering them. With broad motions A’Runda deftly maneuvers his twin-bladed weapon. Deflecting incoming blaster bolts, aided by the extra coverage his weapon provided. Even redirected a flew bolts back towards the enemy soldiers. This wasn’t good, two deadly foes from different directions of himself. He couldn’t yet know who was the bigger threat.

The scant seconds of relief were short lived it seemed. The effort to stand difficult with a knife jammed clear down to the bone. Even in the panic of an attack, she'd still rifled through the pockets of one trooper.

If only to take her mind off the pain of her situation. And maybe being petty, but she wouldn't admit to that.

The sudden appearance of Nathan finding her pressing against the wall to stand. Wincing as she watched him deal with another trooper.

"Stab wound. Just gotta get-" So long as it was left alone.

She'd already tested the wound, finding a strange trigger of sorts along the handle. Keen on not pressing it until she found out what exactly was in her leg. It didn't help she was certain it had gone to the bone.

"She seems hurt."

She froze at the sound.

Turning her eyes up the hallway, spying the strange woman that had announced herself. A harsh feeling of unease settled over the rogue padawan, and the urge to be away from this place overshadowed the rest of her former worries.

Only made worse by the blank smile she gave with the wave of her hand.

"Vorthruz."

Color drained as something appeared over the woman's shoulder and what she could only describe as a Maw opened. The energy that spewed forth tearing into the bodies as her eyes went wide.

Pushing up and away, she didn't have the coordination to respond to Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor proper. She'd heard him, but little more than dread could be felt from her as she pushed through the pain in her left side.

Saber ignited, she didn't have many hopes about getting away from the red lightning that had come for them both.

Both hands held onto the hilt, purple blade prepared to catch the energy as she'd seen others do on holovids. Certainty was not with her on blocking the attack, but it was that or trying to hobble down the way to leave Nathan to his fate.

"There's children here, help them." Lossa informed Nathan through gritted teeth.

Feeling herself drawn by bonded instinct toward her surging drones. One man stood against the tide, cutting a swath through their number, some might call him a hero. While other token opposition was dangerously close to being overwhelmed, their lone man holding his ground was facing attack from two directions. Many fleeing Jedi or their assistants were being dragged underneath the surge, kicking and screaming their last. Some to be killed, others… The Swarm Mother's head snapped up. From her control implant, her pack received artificial hive instruction through her, overriding rational thought.

A few drones began dragging screaming prisoners back to the worm's MAW….. more abductions, more experiments, Keth's cycles continued. Ever-directives to be completed.

Terminus's gigantic worm MAW continued to thrash around the south breach, surely getting shot at by now, the thing was huge, and the attacks like annoying pinpricks. More of the south wall collapsed, and people were just crushed under its bulk. Kylraya found herself swaying like the worm was and feeling pins and needles against her arms.

Stalking with her twisted armored panthers, their exoskeletons shaped in Barab like she was. Her claws rested on their black forehead and tapped, watching A'Runda A'Runda fight desperately against this horde and now the sith as well! Every death she felt, every death of her pack caused her pain, and great anger for retribution fell over her.

Would no one join him in time?

While A'Runda A'Runda fought the sith forces to his side Darth Strosius Darth Strosius , they had made their entry in a general's perfect timing. There was a screeching roar in unison from several drones, and their Matriarch leaped high with force strength, and speed. Talons pierced ahead of her, aiming to come down on top of the lone heroic defender. A'Runda A'Runda . Kylraya landed with enough force to break the floor, bones or both. A minor impact shockwave to knock everything flying, while behind her came the tide!

This place was fast turning into a Jedi feast for the Hive. Artificial hive instinct meant not one Sith was seen as dangerous or targeted. It was a simple and effective means of control, at least while Kylraya was conscious and compelled.

Blonde eyebrows furrowed as a telepathic message filtered into Cora's mind. There was strength in numbers, and she deeply appreciated that she wouldn't be alone in this—but she lacked the skill to reply.

That, and telepathy gave her the willies.

A presence closed in behind Cora as she moved towards the library's main entrance, keeping step with the Padawan before converging on her location all together. With her back pressed to a towering bookshelf, her head rolled towards the woman and she stifled a squeak of surprise at the cloth covering her eyes.

Still, she'd managed to find Cora easily enough.

"They're closing in," Came her harsh whisper, eyes scrunching in concentration as Dark presences thrummed louder in the Force. Like Selvaris. Like Xa Fel. Like Exegol. Never on Ossus. "And they're strong."

The door creaked open, the groans of ancient hinges echoing against the high ceiling.

“Hello there, kittens!”

Cora couldn't help the way her upper lip curled into a snarl. The mocking tone was similar to that of Tegan Starfall Tegan Starfall , but this was no witch. Quietly, she considered the offer. Surrendering into captivity was an impossible blow to her aristocratic pride, even death would be preferable. At least then, she mused to herself between controlled breaths and a rapidly pulsing heart, it would cut her engagement short.

Creeping closer under the cover of shelving, it became clear that this presence—powerful though she may be—was not inherently aligned with the Dark. Strange. Cora took a moment to appraise the Padawan beside her, looking the Miraluka up and down. She was taller, probably stronger. Older than the teenager, likely more experienced in combat. Their better chance at driving the intruder off.

"I'll distract her." She muttered. A hand extended, past the white haired woman, reaching towards a shelf on the opposite side of the aisle. Eyes tightening in focus, Cora wrapped her invisible grip around a one of the heaviest tomes she could find. Then yanked, sending the weighty text hurtling towards the interloper.

OSSUS - THE GREAT LIBRARY

Starting in: Objective 3
Continuing in: Objective 1

He was not far from the Nobles, or several other Jedi who were fighting back those who would bring strife to the planet. There were children in the area who were “pinned down” and hiding in fear. Some battle-droids were not far away but were not picking up on their position. This was something that Caltin could facilitate before moving on to the Library. Two assassins were aware of his position, so they would have to be addressed before the younglings could be evacuated.

No talk.

No negotiation.

The assassins would leave or they would have to face him.

It was as simple as that.

They chose to fight him, and that was not their best decision. Lightning coming from one and very lackluster abilities with a lightsaber coming from the other would prove to unfortunately be their downfall. Even attempts at mocking him for “not being very Jedi like” and “fall to the Dark Side will be complete” were fruitless. Vanagor teetered on the proverbial “fence” his entire life and accepted it so no attempts at getting in his head in this manner would be pointless.

Speaking of pointless, the battle droids that he was trying to keep away from were now aware of his presence and moving to engage. This did not affect him perse, but Caltin was worried about the younglings. They were innocent and this situation was getting worse by the minute. Tapping a couple of buttons on his gauntlet blindly, the big man was hoping the one he wanted was activated. Looking up as he was defending himself against his mechanical aggressors, Vanagor was relieved that it was. Seeing the Jedi Defender re-entering the atmosphere quickly, he yelled out.

Children, look up! Where that ship lands, you need to get to!

~Nobles! I have a Corvette landing about a click away from here, if there is anyone you want to evacuate, there is room.~

Caltin was not fighting to win, he was fighting to keep the attention of the droids until the kids were out of the area. When he figured that everyone was out of the area was when Vanagor went on the attack. Eventually he was satisfied enough to move on to the Library, he turned on his heel and started to sprint to his destination.

"The young mean little to me.", Empyrean said with a passive acceptance as Aculia moved to intercept the youth.
It was a true statement, padawans and knights against the Emperor would serve nothing but a speed bump. No doubt his army were destroying whatever major presence defended these sanctified halls, but Empyrean was not bothered by death - it empowered him. He was the Corpse, singular, in its ever great presence.
"Captain Monk, your service is well appreciated. Serve me well, and you will have great things coming your way - be assured of that.", he said clearly as the Death Troopers moved in front of them. They killed before the Emperor or Monk even entered the room, ensuring that neither had to lift their weapons in their great crusade towards knowledge.
As the stairs opened up, and they meandered their way into the belly of the archive, there was a drop off in resistance - a few Jedi tried to stop them, but they were little to stop the darkness that encroached. When the tibanna gas settled, the archive was left barren to them, with a great many historical documents, first editions, and artifacts for the taking.
"Take what you wish - but find me what I seek. Life beyond death, sustaining the life in transfer. I require everything the Jedi know of these things - forbidden or not."

"I know."

He gave a brief smile, reaching out to gently pat her shoulder. The last time, it wasn't something he'd forget. He was incredibly thankful for the Padawans that helped them that day. But now wasn't the time to reminisce. His com went off, which was more than enough to pull his attention back to what was happening around them.

:: We don't have anyone to evacuate just yet. We only just arrived. ::

Kahlil glanced to Valery for a moment, then ahead.

"Lets go remind the Sith that we're far from the scattered Jedi Orders of the Sith Empire's time, yeah?"

There was a brief smile when his hand settled on her shoulder. Valery didn't struggle coming back to places like this, even though she had nearly died here and thus been separated from the people she loved. But still, it was nice to always have that comforting hand on her shoulder.

"Let's direct anybody we find to his corvette. We'll handle the Sith." She winked and moved faster through the hallways this time, her blade drawn as she searched for the incoming Sith. She wasn't going to allow any of them to pass.

"We had a number of places like this, our enemies used subterfuge and some of the Ashlans even distrusted fellow lightsiders, it was the militancy that was the undoing of the crusade. Shame really."

The trio of her, Ki Jem-Taan and Elias Edo Elias Edo slid into the hall of knowledge, she nodded in agreement that the priority was to save historical artifacts today, it was an important task, and it felt as if it were too late to save the lives of the guards here. Rhiza could feel a cloying darkness in the air as they entered and she wrinkled her nose, activating her white blade. "Someone is here, I can feel the death in the air, be on your guard and call out if needed." Her Ashlan Rosary now hung out of her waistband and into her thigh as an extra ward against the darkness.

The first item they came across was a statue of a female figure in delicate robes, in her chest cavity was what looked like a jedi holocron. Rhiza used her claw to pull it out and could feel the spirits contained inside the small box, she tossed the device to Elias as she continued. "Either of you been here before?" she wondered to them too, she knew Elias more than Ki, but was curios about both of their histories.

The Zygerrian went silent, holding her finger to silence her allies, having been the only one speaking, there was another voice. Rhiza felt like she could hear one side of a heated arguement, she wished she knew what the other said. A fellow treasure hunter, a potential threat.

Surprise shot through Maeve as Vyle disappeared in a cloud of red mist. The rock she'd hoped would crack open the Sith's skull sailed uselessly over the landing platform, and her own thrusting attack stopped dead in its tracks. Vyle had vanished. Where she went, she had little idea, but the woman was there. She could feel her like cold rain. She could sense her like a creeping disease.

Maeve spun and pointed her lightsaber to where Vyle stood. Force only knew how long she'd been standing there, hands clasped at her waist, but she would not let herself be caught by surprise again, not even as the witch rambled about how powerful and generous she was. Predictably Sith. They were all the same.

"I remember our fight differently," Maeve replied. "You may have abandoned me in that throne room, but you were the one fleeing, not I." Slowly, she backed away from Vyle. "But let's not reminisce. You came here for another battle. I'll gladly give you one."

Maeve raised her lightsaber at once, a viper prepared to strike, but at seeing the edge in Vyle's gaze, she paused. A thread of righteous anger ran along the wall of her hesitation. She'd no idea what the Sith had planned until she loosed it from her lips: a scream so destructive, it shattered the ground. Now, that scream was heading directly for her.

Maeve had dealt with Sith screams in the past. With Valery, on their last mission. She'd used a parlor tricks to stop it, but Vyle was too clever for that. Fortunately, Master Noble had taught her another trick, and one less simplistic.

She shut her eyes. As the scream reverberated towards her, a heartbeat before it'd slam into her, Maeve completely vanished. Poof, and she was gone.

It was a difficult trick, one that required immense concentration and focus, but Maeve had practiced daily since her mission with Valery and now, she could disappear with ease, bending not only light, but sound waves, shielding her ear drums from the worst of the scream and, of course, protecting her pearly teeth.

Nathan only had time enough after Sofiel Sofiel spoke to get his blade up. He only partially succeeded in blocking the vicious red lightning, which drove him backwards from the impact of the bolts against his blade. One errant bolt struck him in the shoulder, and only using the Force to endure the sudden shock to his body was he able to stay standing, and, more importantly, conscious. The blue blade that had taken the impact flickered on and off before Nathan shut it off and switched to his remaining, functional blade on the other end of the staff.

He'd usually seen Jedi Temples only when they were in ruins. He'd only ever been in a temple in the process of becoming a ruin once before, if one counted Castle Bloodscrawl as a Jedi Temple. The Corpses of Jedi. Blood.

Nathan hesitated. The whole scenario was terribly familiar to him. Two Jedi against a powerful Sith, with a strong chance both could be killed. He'd undergone the worst case scenario.

The thought of leaving disgusted him.

But if Lossa could keep her distracted...he supposed it could justify him leaving her.

"Try to survive rather than win. Don't let her see you sweat." Nathan said calmly before he broke off contact, guarding before running down another passage to where he had seen a lot of children inside various study and mess halls. Jedi younglings. He'd never seen so many.

He spotted a temple guard on the ground and went over to check for a pulse. Dead. Shotgun blast. He spotted the man's double Lightsaber-Pike and took it, activating the yellow blades to see if it worked, then clipped it to his belt and went into one study chamber.

Nothing but slain Padawans, their blood splashed against the stones.

Nathan grimaced at the horror, exited and began going down the passage again, coming across more and more Jedi dead.

The sounds of fire were very heavy now, and Nathan went into a guard as he got into another study chamber. He saw Sith Troopers shooting at only a few remaining Younglings, all crouched behind cover.

Nathan teleported close to one and cut off his head, drawing the attention of the others, who began shooting at him.

Nathan fell back on Niman because the situation was too chaotic to rely on Soresu and started advancing, deflecting the bolts away from him as he charged, using a Force Stun on one and taking his head off, tossing the temple guard Lightsaber pike into the face of a third trooper, teleporting the blade back to his hand, deflecting a heavy stream of bolts from the Soldiers above. They eventually got wise and began aiming at the younglings again.

Nathan teleported in front of the survivors, deflecting bolts with his blue blade, deliberately activating the other blade and dropping it.

The activated blade tumbled and was teleported above a shooter's head, a blade tip driving into the shooter's shoulder from above, being teleported out of his body and above the head of the second shooter before the first dead shooter on the upper level had finished hitting the floor, where it's uncontrolled tumble cleaved partly through the second shooter's helmet, killing him instantly. Nathan repeated the process with the third shooter, taking his arm off, teleporting up to the upper level to catch the blade as it fell, ramming it into to the trooper's chest immediately afterwards.

He teleported back to the lower level. None of the younglings recognized him, but the emotional void they sensed within made them hesitate, take a step back in confusion at his grim countenance, his gaze offering no reassurance.

"Are...are you one of the temple guards?" a youngling asked.

"No." he answered emotionlessly.

"There's too many of them! What're we going to do?"

"If you stay, you die. Follow me." he ordered.

All seven younglings of various species gathered behind him and he led them to the exit.

He heard them whimper as he led them past the bodies. He didn't try to calm them.

"The enemy might hear you whimpering." he advised. "Your emotional expression must be kept to a minimum to avoid drawing attention that could cost you your life."

The sharpness of the delivery, and the clinical nature of the advice dampened all sound from the younglings.

"It's an unfortunate reality of the profession." he added in a whisper as he led them past more bodies. "It is impossible to engage in it without encountering critics."

Bolts came at him from the spoke. He activated both blades, falling back on Soresu as he deflected the bolts back in the direction of the shooters, advancing slowly at the same time the Sith troopers did.

Nathan had not managed to save anybody at Castle Bloodscrawl.

He would not allow history to repeat.

Objective III: Dominion of Ossus
Enemies: Maeve Linahan Maeve Linahan
Equipment: Darth Vyle's lightsaber

At first, Darth Vyle believed that she had put more power into her scream than intended and erased Maeve from existence. Certainly, the dark side had a wildness about it that made it hard to predict the exact effect her power would have. But no. Not this time. Maeve's power, her presence, was still there. Vyle could sense her. But where?

"I warned you about parlor tricks," Vyle said to a seemly empty a platform as she raised her hand, magick dancing between her fingers. "I tried to give you a chance to be the Shadow so many of the Sith have come to fear. But it seems in the face of true darkness that even you turn to the cowardice your kind is so famous for."

The magick in her hand finished casting her Spell of Discovery. Instantly, Vyle saw Maeve's invisible form as a crimson shadow. She was bending waves around her body to become invisible, to remain silent; but the Nightsister magick was not so easily fooled.

Vyle did not immediately reveal she knew Maeve's position. Instead, she flicked her palms outward, to the wall of fire on either side of her. The flames there, which burned the color of an evening sky, flared up and turned the bright scarlet of blood. Then, the witch flicked her palms in Maeve's direction, and fireballs from either side — each the size of a balled fist — launched from the wall of flames to the Jedi's position.

No amount of bending light would stop them.
