STRENGTHS
  • Bulwark: Like many traditional mon calamari capital ships, the Silver Tide sports redundant shielding which makes it quite difficult for attacks to penetrate to the hull. Aside from this shielding, the Silver Tide also sports exceptional armor as well as the robust Aegis II Anti-Concussion Field Generator and molecular shields.
  • Swift: The Silver Tide is an unusually fast for a vessel its size, which sometimes even allows the Star Defender to catch smaller warships especially when its boost function is utilized. An unusual hyperdrive booster allows the Silver Tide to be one of the fastest vessels of its size for superluminal travel.
  • Adaptable: The Silver Tide is a massive investment of capital and infrastructure, and in order to ensure that this investment remains well-spent over the years to come, the Tide has both subsystems designed to be inherently adaptable on their own as well as a modularity designed to allow it to receive future plug-and-play upgrades.
WEAKNESSES
  • Unwieldly: The Silver Tide is not a very maneuverable starship even for a ship its size.
  • Vulnerable Advanced Systems: The Mission Function Modules that provide much of the ship's flexibility are more prone to experiencing damage than the systems of traditionally designed vessels because of this mode of construction is more lightly built and relies to an extent on modular fastenings. Like the classic Strike Cruiser, these modular fastenings are more prone to experiencing damage than traditional ship framework and joints, making it more likely that these systems will be knocked offline from battle damage.
DESCRIPTION
The Silver Tide is a massive Star Defender in service with the Silver Jedi that originated as the prototype for an updated version of the classic Viscount-class Star Defender. Design of the Silver Tide started in the end days of the Galactic Republic by engineers of both Lucerne Labs and Mon Calamari Shipyards. When the GR fell, the design became more a thought experiment, though a dedicated few within those companies continued to seriously update the design as new technologies came onto the galactic scene. Their dedication paid off when the Silver Jedi commissioned the two companies to construct a prototype Star Defender. Crafted in deep space by mobile drydocks, the Silver Tide first appeared on the galactic scene during the annual Fleet Week at Kashyyyk. The vessel has since become the flagship of Admiral Quee's Fourth Fleet, which is charged with defending the Order's eastern borders. Unlike many other large battleship designs, the Silver Tide focuses on obtaining superior positions in order to obtain supremacy, and consequently is surprisingly fast for a ship its size. It is frequently capable of overtaking and then overpowering small battle cruisers and large star destroyers. The vessel also noticeably incorporates many technologies and experience gained by the Krakana Tactical Command Ships, notably the use of large mission modules which can provide the Silver Tide with a variety of specialized equipment that allows it to better fulfill niche roles.

Technical Descriptions

Crew and Internal Environment: Like many other megalithic vessels, the internals of the Silver Tide in some areas bears more resemblance to a modern day city rather than a starship as the Silver Tide has a total complement of slightly over a quarter of a million. In order to help alleviate the claustrophobia of living typically found on a starship, especially one with that many people, the Silver Tide has several unusually spacious corridors along with several large open space areas that act like biodomes, complete with their own buildings and flora. These areas are mostly recreational, containing athletic training facilities, food courts, and the like. High speed rail trams within ship allow its crew to rapidly transverse to these areas and to other vital parts of the ship en mass before they disembark to travel within the ship via more conventional means, such as turbolifts or simple walking corridors. As with other large vessels in other navies, being posted to the Silver Tide is considered a prestigious and a stepping stone to a better career, in large part because of the various social connections that can be made onboard. It's not uncommon to see unofficial fraternities spring up among the ship's departments or related ranks that have their own designated hangouts around the ship. Those these locations change just as much as the ship's crew changes, the ship's central park, filled with sapplings of Wroshyr trees taken from around the Silver Rest is known to be a hangout for many of the Jedi, especially as this artificial woods contains a food court as well as guest quarters for members of the Silver Jedi Order. In order to better enable long voyages and maintain operational indepedence, the Silver Tide has some of its own supply production facilities, including hydroponic farms, waste recycling facilities complete with Gyrowheel recycling droids, fuel converters, and molecular furnaces that feed automated factories that can produce munitions, spare parts, droids, and any of Lucerne Labs's synthetic soldiers. With some rest on a nearby planet, asteroid belt, or other source of resources, this could potentially allow the Silver Tide to be an entirely self-sustaining community.

Command and Control: One of the Silver Tide's key roles is to act as a command and control ship. The bridge of the Silver Tide is unsurprisingly then quite sophisticated, using a multiple vertical levels to cram in as much computers, consoles, and holo-stations while still supplying a massive holo-projector in the lowest and most central level of the room in order to keep the bridge crew and its commander with a picture of the overall engagement. Dedicated computer banks allow the Silver Tide to host multiple AIs, and it's not uncommon for the AIs to briefly take over stations or communicate to crewmembers via holoprojector pods in the bridge. Aside from the ship's bridge itself, the Silver Tide also has a pair of secondary command suites to coordinate operations outside of the ship itself. These are the Planetary Operations Center(POC) and Space Operations Center(SOC) respectively.

The SOC, also known as the “wishing well”, is a tactical command post loosely based on the bridge of the old Inexpungnable-class. It is circular room with two levels, with the inner level being substantially lower than the outer ring. The outer ring holds typical computer consoles, comscans, and a handful of small scale holo-tanks. But the central portion is created with a transparisteel deck and walls through which embedded holo-projectors could recreate the space around them and the objects, both artificial and natural, on a large scale that is not only detailed and immersive, but also in real-time. Such a presentation affords the crew manning it perhaps the easiest method to observe and interpret on a large scale while avoiding being sucked into observing the battle through a handful of 'keyholes' viewpoints, such as the bridge viewport or an several electro-photoreceptors. Exploration expeditions frequently use the SOC to explore avenues of approach through difficult terrains and to coordinate initial orbital traffic over a newly colonized world. Unsurprisingly, Silver Jedi flag officers frequently use it to help coordinate groups of ships, from the largest cruiser to the smallest starfighter.

The Planetary Operations Center is located a short distance away from both the main bridge and the SOC. This is a rectangular room whose walls are mostly covered in LCD screens which frequently display live feeds from cameras and other visual sensors found on personal armors, droids, vehicles, and other like devices. Most of the room is occupied with neat rows of computer consoles and holographic tactical battlefield displays needed to interpret the vast amount of data flows through the center and coordinate the units present on the ground. Many of these consoles are equipped with CL-3 headsets to help control and coordinate droids and other automated units. This room also contains an ARENA-7580 Holo-projector, used to plan large-scale movements, and a pair of CS-Mark 10 Command Combat Simulators, which are used to analyze terrain and simulate battle plans. Aside from groundside military applications, the POC is most frequently used in conjunction with mission function modules like the hospital and survey modules to accomplish specific humanitarian missions. As key assets to the Silver Jedi, the Silver Tide also includes several
meditation chambers located just outside of the bridge and near the POC and SOC to enable battle meditation.

Communications: The Silver Tide makes extensive use of multiple Oracle-class Communications Packages that allow the ship to handle thousands of incoming and outgoing transmissions as a command and control vessel. To that end, the Silver Tide has a host of short-ranged comlinks networked into a central communications computer that allows it to support hundreds of different simultaneous data streams. These units can be used by military forces through the POC to coordinate movements of peoples, vehicles, droids, and other units as necessary for large-scale operations. Because Oracle can also be used to jam and disrupt communications, units working in sync with a Silver Tide will typically use channel-hopping algorithms to link their communication's efforts, which allows the Silver Tide to selectively jam frequencies to deny their use to the enemy while allowing their own communications to continue unhindered. Aside from the Oracles, Silver Tide also host multiple encrypted HoloNet transceivers, allowing Silver Jedi and commanders to remain connected with their allies even as they travel across the stars.

Computer systems: The Silver Tide makes extensive use of Lucerne Labs propietary Calor series Bio-computers and Biolux Organoform Circuitry to form large, adaptable networks that service individual departments, such as Medical, and systems, such as Propulsion, of the ship. Typically, these local networks are not linked together, using compartmentalization in order to promote cyber security. The systems of the bridges are an exception, however, most of those consoles only have read-only access, and cannot input commands into those networks. However, the flag officer's console is in turn the exception to both of those rules, and can be used to vastly augment the task of whatever he or she is working on or provide computing power for several AIs. Aside from normal ship computers, the Silver Tide also hosts extensive banks of bio-computers dedicated solely to supporting large and intricate AI. Admiral Quee in particular is known to travel with and use multiple AI on the Silver Tide, and often treats them as command staff for computer access purposes, giving them extensive control to the ship's systems, which in turn can substantially improve the ship and its crew's performance in certain situations.

Hull: The Silver Tide uses a Ossis series starship frame as the structural framework upon which a secondary belt of moderately thick Impervium armor is mol-welded onto. This armor in turn is covered in a thicker layer of Argentum-series Matrix Armor. This makes most of the exterior of the Silver Tide quite durable. Internally, the hull is divided into typical compartments using bulkheads that incorporates a thin layer of Agrinicrete to better protect components and peoples against radiation that manages to break through the ship's shielding and armor. This makes the Silver Tide unusually well-suited for travelling through high radiation areas, including certain nebulae and systems with pulsar stars.

Hyperdrive: The Silver Tide has a pretty typical hyperdrive system for a ship its size, capable of efficiently propelling the vessel up to x1 speed. The prevalence of interdictor technology being employed by the First Order inspired the Silver Tide's designers to incorporate multiple hyperspace coils in the ship's HIMS design, allowing it to better penetrate extensive interdiction efforts. The ship also controversially hosts one of the largest versions of the old Sith Empire's experimental Torrential hyperdrive Boosters known to exist. While Admiral Quee and other naval officers state that the device's performance speaks for itself, rumors abounding of it speaking in ancient sith tongue have unsettled several Force-sensitive members of the Silver Jedi Order.

Security: The Silver Tide incorporates conventional Lucerne Labs internal security systems, making extensive use of code cylinders to control sensitive access to the ship and its systems. Tripping or attempting to force one's way into the system can not only trigger silent alarms that inform the ship's security team, but also trigger any number of automated traps. Forced access to most restricted rooms triggers man traps concealed underneath the deck's plate in an attempt to immobilize the intruder. Key rooms, corridors, and junction points are further guarded by automated Stormfire Heavy Repeater emplacements, and force-field generators. In terms of electronic protection, the ship uses squads of slicer droids and classic security packages to thwart enemy slicers
. There is enough excess computing capacity that the ship can host several artificial intelligences, and it is known that Admiral Quee typically brings an Atropos AI to help augment the ship's electronic protection.

Shields: The Silver Tide uses the same basic shielding arrangement of the original Viscount-class Star Defender, thus following the tradition of extremely sturdy mon calamari designs. To that end, the Silver Tide sports three separate layers of Aspis-class Shield Systems, providing it with exceptional durability on the battlefield against most threats. Additionally, the Silver Tide also has a Starlight Scutum shield, which not only provides it with excellent protection for the ship itself, but allows the ship's massive reactors to be put to use to protect nearby vessels within that shield. An Aegis II anti-concussion field generator network provides additional protection for the ship against kinetic threats.. This effectively sheathes the Silver Tide in four layers of shielding. Like other mon calamari designs, this allows some shield projectors and generators to be taken offline for repairs or if destroyed and still have shielding in all areas. This makes the Silver Tide exceptionally durable on the battlefield.

Sublight Drives: The Silver Tide is propelled by several banks of Nimble-5 Ion Engines which typically provides the vessel with average amounts of speed. They can temporarily boost the Silver Tide's speed to exceptionally high speeds at the cost of lowering the Silver Tide's maneuverability. Conversely, the Silver Tide's maneuverability can be increased to average levels at the cost of sublight speed by using the ship's Gulfstream maneuvering system. This flexibility allows the Silver Tide to better fulfill its multiple purpose mission profile as needed. Because all of the ship's engines are identical, maintenance and repair is exceptionally simple, leading to the engine rooms mostly being staffed by a droid work crew that includes hatching droids, LE Repair droids, and astromechs. The organic crew typically supervises their efforts from a remote control station rather than suit up in radiation suits except when its absolutely necessary, such as for complicated repairs or detailed inspections.

Weapons: The Silver Tide uses a roughly average amount of firepower for a command ship of its size. Its primary batteriers are an octet of Ragnarok-class Heavy Gun Batteries spread out roughly in a ring around the center of the ship. This allows all of these weapons to be fired both forward and backward. Half of them can be fired from any lateral side. Several salvos from these weapons are often enough to shatter entire fleets and pierce through the toughest defenses, but they are often limited by their slow tracking and limited number of emplacements. Because of the need to be able to better spread out firepower against smaller targets, the Silver Tide has most of its reactors power dedicated to fire-linked banks of other, smaller energy weapons that include heavy lasers, long range turbolasers, turbolasers, and plasma railguns spread out equally in terms of density across the vessel's hull. These weapons are backed by turreted plasma energy torpedo launchers, minelayers, and advanced homing baradium warhead system unique to the Silver Tide: the Kraken Heavy Torpedo. The Kraken is brute weapon of power designed to shatter penetrate through strong defenses at specific points. The Silver Tide is also one of the few vessels that incorporates multiple Aura Tractor/Pressor Beam emplacements, which while can be used as a direct fire gravity weapon, are more often used for maneuvering purposes or to change the environment around the Silver Tide. Lastly, the Silver Tide sports a layered set of point defenses, with batteries of flak cannons and missile launchers designed to destroy starfighters, missiles, and other objects at relatively long ranges as a first line of defense, while quad laser cannons and projected point-defense shields act as a short-range, secondary line of active defense.

Carrying Capacity: As a typical, multi-purposed command ship, the Silver Tide carries an average amount of starfighters, support craft, and ground forces. Building off Lucerne Labs' experience with the Deluge-class Battle Carrier, the Silver Tide uses numerous and dispersed single squadron starfighter hangar bays. Each starfighter hangar can be locked down by thick blast doors armored in Argentum Matrix Armor and is flanked by a pair of tractor beam projectors to help guide damaged starfighters into the hangar bay or to dissuade intruders from entering the bay if the doors are not shut. The Silver Tide also has other hangars of similar design that carry the support craft needed to maintain its day to day operations or to land its sizable ground force complement. The Silver Tide can carry up to a full Systems Army based on the old Imperial model, making it largely equivalent in passenger carrying capacity to its predecessor, the Viscount-class Star Defender. A large portion of the embarked forces typically found on the Silver Tide include units of the 4th ISAF Atrisian Corps, notably the Admiral's Fist and the Argent Crusaders. These permanently stationed forces are usually supplemented by L1 Marinus Battle Droids and synthetic soldiers produced by the star defender's own internal production facilities.

Mission Function Modules: Taking a page from MCS's past Shashore and Sabertooth vessels as well as the recent Krakana Tactical Command Ship, the Silver Tide is equipped with a modular ventral bay that can support different modules for different missions. Unlike the Krakana, these modules were designed specifically for the Silver Tide from the ground up, as they replace the original Viscount-class Star Defender's enormous repair droid bay. Each module is self-sustainable, carrying its own power supply and life support. Refitting the Silver Tide with a new module takes about almost a day at a shipyard, but the modular nature of this construction means that the Silver Tide can more easily be kept current and consequently effective on the everchanging battlefield.

Repair Droid Bay: This module almost entirely recreates the original Viscount-class Star Destroyer's repair droid bay. It is cavernous module holding not only enough repair droids to almost completely cover the ship's hull, but recharging stations, oil bathes, starship parts storage sections, and other work stations needed to keep this army of droids ready and equipped to keep the Silver Tide and other friendly vessels in tip-top shape even as they endure the most trying of battles.

Interdictor: This module contains a massive gravity well projector based partially on data recovered by the Silver Jedi's experience with the notorious Keeper-class Interdictor stations. This gravity well projector is powered by an experimental zero-point reactor inspired by those found on the Shining Path. When activated, the consequent gravity well is large enough that it can effectively interdict the hemisphere of a standard planet. This massive gravity well also notably impairs the Silver Tide's own performance, causing it to be slower and less maneuverable (-1 to both ratings) when activated at full power. Because of that, sometimes it is used in a reduce power to provide more precise interdicting abilities without compromising the ship's speed or maneuverability.

Cloaking Warfare: Based on experience with the Krakana's cloaking module, the Silver Tide's Cloaking Warfare Module sports a stygium-based cloaking device, gravitic amplitude modulators, and a crystal gravfield trap along with generators to power those devices. This gives the Silver Tide the ability to be relatively stealthy, though specialized sensors may still detect its presence (but not its exact location) by picking up its ion engine wake. Based on experience with the Nebel-class ELINT Frigate, this module also has large scale flechette launchers as well as plasma dischargers used to create large clouds of particles around the Silver Tide. Unexplained movements of these particles or the inability to diffuse into certain areas of space (because there is a solid object there instead) suggests a cloaked object.

Electronic Warfare: This module contains a dozen 220-SIG Sensor Jamming Devices, several dozen LLD1-a1 ECM Drone Launchers, hundreds of Mimic sensor Decoy launchers, Missile Deactivation Transmitters, and three Ranger Subspace Transceiver signal-boosted by Hiridiu crystals. It also sports a massive tank of nagnol gas, which it can release into a cloud that engulfs the Silver Tide and its accompanying fleet to temporarily hide the fleet from visual observation and most sensors. This module is one of the more commonly encountered modules on the Silver Tide, as it amplifies its ability to communicate with friendly vessels while it similarly degrades enemy communications and sensors.

Battle Computer Module (BCM): This computer is a conceptional outgrowth from the Will of the Force project that sought to replicate battle meditation but specifically for droids and automated systems. At the heart of this module is a BRT supercomputer equipped with programming derived originally from the Alliance Battle Analysis Computer, but with more probability algorithms and larger reference databases. This unit functions much as its predecessor did, providing potential battle plans and analysis to the commander. Unlike the BAC, however, the BCM also incorporates a Central Intelligence Processor backed by a massive banks of adaptable Calor-series bio-computers. This allows BCM to immediately and directly implement its decisions to droids and automated systems within the Silver Tide's communication's network, which in turn dramatically shortens the kill-chain and seamlessly coordinates the movements and actions of millions of units at a time, thus replicating battle meditation for automated units. It can also be used to take over small numbers of automated units such as drone fighters and battle droids and control them directly, where it can use its massive processing power to dramatically improve the droid's performance, as this single unit now knows countless possibilities of what could happen or probabilities of certain courses of actions, as well as having access to the higher level of functioning found within the BRT's intelligence. Because this module is so reliant on communication to effective functionally, not only does it use the Silver Tide's baseline communications, but it also sports the same three Ranger Subspace Transceivers signal-boosted by Hiridiu crystals used on the Electronic Warfare module.

Rearming Bay: Taking inspiration from the lowly and often unrecognized Combat Utility Vehicle, this module consists of starfighter ammunition bunkers, fuel tanks, and repair droids along with feeding mechanisms that can take these supplies to just outside the hull itself. Micro-tractor beams allow this module to quickly drag in friendly strikecraft before refueling, repairing, and rearming them in a matter of seconds, making the Silver Tide a force multiplier for the friendly starfighters in big battles.

Boarding Module: This module builds off the Silver Jedi's experience with the Union II-class Assault Carriers. Not only does it have barracks for several more regiments of troops, but it also sports almost a thousand assault tubes with plasma cut boarding devices. When the Silver Tide nears a target, these tubes can quickly shoot out from behind armored hatches to penetrate through enemy hulls before releasing thousands of the Star Defender's troops and battle droids to seize or damage enemy vessels. As some vessels are not likely to ever get in range of the Silver Tide, this module also has several hundred person-sized catapult pressors, which allows the Silver Tide to launch heavily armored space troopers and battle droids at high velocities towards the hulls of the enemy ships, thus allowing them to still potentially board smaller and faster enemy vessels.

Very nice submission! I really loved the long description about the different systems. And I found some problems too:
  • You have to link Reshmar's permission to use his arts. So please ask him.
  • The second, the SSD is underpowered with 1 point. The SSDs get +1 point under the winter's update. So please fix this.
  • And I found many broken links, please fix these too:
That's all, please let me know if you edited these.

MANIAC MANIAC , good catches!

Links have been fixed according (except for the Biocomms, which I deleted). When this was made, "moderate" was still a rating, and hence why the ratings were off - armament has been increased from "average" to "high" now. With that, I've added some more weapons to the armaments section (Thunderer Heavy Particle Beam Cannons and Harpoon General Purpose Warhead Launchers). I've added a link to a screenshot of Reshmar's permission to use his model to the "Image Source" field as well.
