SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Interdiction/Gravity Well Projectors
Equipped with Gravity Well Projectors, this station is capable of generating a field many times that of a normal Interdiction Star Destroyer. Much of the station's internal composition has been gutted and the habitable space within is kept to a minimum to allow for increased power supply systems in support of the Projectors. Because of this, the interdiction power of this station once stationary is incredible, and only enhanced by the Proprietary Interdiction Relay System native to the station's systems.

[*]Proprietary Interdiction Relay System - Enhanced Range
  • ( Img 1, Img 2 ) | Img Source : The Enhanced Interdiction Relay System or EIRS (Pronounced "Ears") is a system native to the Keeper-class Interdiction platform. The relay modules themselves are self propelled and aligned using their on board positioning systems as well as being tied in to the station's systems. These relays allow a Gravity Well to be projected at greater distances and over a wider range than a standard Gravity Well, enhancing the blockading and interdicting capability within a sector. These relays have a limited shield capacity, but enough to survive a few direct turbolaser blasts before overloading. Unarmed, they rely on their small size and signature to avoid detection. Covered in Reflec, it wouldn't be uncommon for it to appear a simple piece of space debris.

[*]Advanced EWAR Suite
  • Electronic Countermeasures (Deployable ECM Canisters), Weapon Disruption Arrays (Tracking and Guidance Disruption Systems), Remote Sensor Dampening (Active Sensor Dampening Arrays), and Target Painting systems create an advanced space picture and applies controls in a 360* environment to both shape and effect the battlefield in support of Naval Operations.

[*]Internal Defense Systems
  • Internal Auto-blaster Defense Systems protect the large open spaces as well as the corridors within the station. These are set to stun by default, but with an authorized code command, they can be activated to engage unknown entities and intruders. In addition to the autoblaster defense systems, there are also security droids provided by Brandt-Volcata Industries.

[*]Advanced Encryption & Long Range Communication Suite
  • Top of the line Encryption Protocols and Long Range Communications equipment ensure easy and completely secure communication between this station and the intended recipient, at least between point A and point B. Should either end be compromised, but to siphon data or voice signals across the encrypted network would be extremely difficult.

[*]FOSB - RDI-65 Ultra Long Range Sensor Array
  • A complex sensor array, the FOSB - RDI-65 LRSA boasts a number of capabilities. Most notably its ability to detect, process, and display audio signals and data once acquired. By utilizing thie RDI-65, the Keeper-class Interdiction Platform is able to capture, process, and relay valuable data and intercepted voice communication on for further processing purposes.

[*]Holding Cells
  • While not the primary function of the station, it can be utilized as a temporary holdover for FOSB Agents or Knights of Ren who find themselves in need of a temporary respite during transportation of a VIP. These cells are not only physically secure, but also augmented by a force field retention system that erects a shield barrier between the occupant of the cell and the doorway.

[*]Armory
  • A full size armory is stationed aboard the Keeper-class, complete with various explosives and small arms. While explosives and small arms may be vast, there are limited heavy weapons and almost no launchers of any kind. If it comes to combat aboard the station, heavy weapons would have limited effect and most agents or Knights of Ren passing through can acquire those items elsewhere.

[*]Bacta Tank Chamber
  • Along with it's micro surgical suite the Keeper-class contains a small bank of Bacta Tanks for those unfortunate enough to need it. While it's not a particularly large feature of the station, it has the potential to save agents or Knights of Ren who experience the most grievous of wounds - if they can make it to the station in the first place.

[*]Miniature Surgical Suite
  • A fully stocked micro-surgical suite is also attached, adjacent to the Bacta Tank Chamber, manned entirely by a droids. Containing only a couple of beds, the surgical suite is manned by a surgical droid. Capable of performing advanced emergency surgeries and other life saving and invasive procedures if necessary. Like the Bacta tanks, it's a great resource provided the user actually reaches the station before they bite the dust.

[*]Escape Pods
  • Like any responsible engineer, the escape pods have been included in the station's design. Small pods, they can hold one comfortably, two if required which allows for a minuscule signature or hull footprint on both scanners and by eye. Equipped with pre-programmed coordinates, these pods are equipped with an encrypted locator beacon as well as enough food and stores for up to 48 hours. Also equipped with a communication module, these pods make surviving less of a question.

[*]Contingency Data Cleanser System
  • Should the station fall into enemy hands, or should those aboard wish to erase all collected data if imminent destruction or boarding is unavoidable, the CDCS is controlled either via secure command code at the locale, or if configured can be initiated remotely if the proper connections are established and codes are verified. This ensures any sort of sensitive material is wiped, making it entirely unrecoverable once the system has been activated. Likewise, this system also operates a sub system designed to render the armory on board the station inert - specially designed shaped charges applied in a manner that will see the armory completely obliterated.

[*]Signal Dampening Insulation
  • Signal Dampening Insulation has been built into the facility, keeping any erroneous and unintentional signals from reaching the void of space and pre-maturely giving away the position of the station or allowing it to be pinpointed.

Strengths:

  • You're Not Going Anywhere: The station's primary function is to deploy a series of gravity wells across a small system in tandem with other stations of the same model by utilizing the EIRS system (Enhanced Interdiction Relay System) These Interdiction stations once deployed and collectively activated allow a massive swathe of space to be essentially denied to the enemy by hyperspace travel. Or, likewise if the stations are activated while enemy ships are nearby, it could prevent them from getting out or support from getting in. Even though this could be used offensively to hold ships within a certain system, it is much better put to use at area denial.

  • Increased Durability: With little in the way of amenities, the station's hull has been reinforced with layers upon layers of durasteel plating and a solid construction. This allows the station to take significant structural damage before succumbing to its wounds. It also allows the station to acquire and transmit data for as long as possible before being scuttled if capture is unavoidable.

  • Low Crew Requirement: Due to the increased space requirement for the generators and sub systems, the crew required to man the station is minimal. Instead, the station relies heavily upon its automated systems and droid complement for both maintenance and operation. The low crew requirement also allows for the station to be placed and left for long periods of time, switching the crew out on a rotational basis without interruption of operation.

  • Advanced EWAR Suite: As detailed under special features, the Advanced EWAR Suite provides a high defensive capability to the station. Not only this, but it allows the station to play what may be a crucial role in supporting local forces even if its physical damage output is very low, it provides invaluable capabilities some ships or fleets may not contain on their own.
  • Internal Defense Systems: As are with many of the stations systems, this one is automated but can be overridden manually by the station commander. Autoblasters and security droids create a deadly combo for any intruder or attacker that might attempt to simply waltz in and steal or acquire data or weapons.

  • Advanced Encryption and Long Range Communication Suite: Allowing the station to be established and set up far from civilization, the Advanced Encryption & Communication Suite allows the crew and Headquarters to communicate on the most secure of channels. This ability allows the station to fill a crucial intelligence gathering role without much fear of data or sensitive information being intercepted by hostile forces.

  • Extensive Interdiction Range: Due to the station's proprietary relay system, the station's interdiction field can be projected over much greater of an area than might be possible using a standard set of Gravity Well Projectors. These relays can be deployed outside the normal range of the interdiction field projection to increase its range and strength, though it is not a 'stop all'. As the range increases and the number of relays between the station and the end projected location increases, so also does the projection field decrease in strength.

Weaknesses:

  • Low Armament: Weapons batteries and destructive weapons systems weren't designed to be installed on this platform. As such, it relies on its complex EWAR systems and external support to keep it safe in conflict rather than native turbolaser batteries or a large starfighter complement. While it does contain a high number of defensive emplacements, they are hardly enough to keep an enemy at bay for long.

  • Low Hangar Capacity: Only capable of holding one squadron of starfighters, this station is not equipped for self defense. A squadron might be enough to keep a band of pirates at bay, or a wandering marauder, but this is not a military command station, at least not by design. As such, it is unable to hold more than one squadron of fighters. It is also important to note that the repair facilities within this station for starfighters or small ships is negligible.

  • Extremely Slow Movement: Equipped with a Class 10 hyperdrive, this station isn't moving anywhere fast. Designed only to move the ship from one place to another with little otherwise movement, the Keeper-class was not equipped with a secondary hyperdrive. Once the hyperdrive is out, sorry to say but you're not going anywhere.

  • Light it up!: Though cloaked in a coat of Reflec, when this station initiates its defense systems (ECM, Disruption Arrays, Sensor Dampeners, etc) it lights up like a... a holiday tree. There will be no hiding the station once its defensive systems and gravity well projectors are active as it produces a massive signature despite the insulated station hull. Whenever anything requires that much power, it can be sure to be picked up on sensors without trouble, at least as long as the enemy's sensors aren't being jammed. At close range it may not be easy to get a lock on the station itself, but it would definitely set off long range sensors and produce a large distortion on any nearby scanners.

  • Power Sink: Due to the extreme amount of power required to operate the station at full capacity, there can be severe fluctuation in the integrity of the interdiction fields it projects. While when covering a relatively small area these fluctuations have limited effect, but when covering wide areas it is common for the field to degrade completely when fluctuations in power due to system overload or damage are incurred.

  • Hurry Up and Wait: The increased scope and range of the platform's interdiction projection capability doesn't come without drawbacks. A typical Gravity Well generator can be powered down, re-aligned, and reactivated relatively quickly - the Keeper class is anything but. Though it does boast an increased range and area, it pays for it in activation and deactivation times. To expedite this process would cause untold numbers of systems malfunctions, 75% of which result in near instantaneous combustion. Long story short, once this system is powered up, it's not only going to take some time to spool down, but it won't be able to be re-activated until all the system's capacitors are cleared, meaning it could take up to a full three quarters of an hour to fully reinitialize the generators.
Description:

Created at the cusp of the cold war between the Galactic Alliance and the First Order, the Keeper-class Interdiction Platform was created to fill the empty space between the declared borders of the galactic powers. By no means did the First Order think they could close every border, instead they aimed to further secure the well traveled and known shipping routes. Not only this, but as a covert reconnasance station, the Keeper-class would serve well in unregulated space, allowing for long range monitoring of Alliance forces near the border.

Designed with covert and support operations in mind, the station is largely self sustaining outside of combat. As a multi-faceted tactic to further secure the First Order worlds given the rise of many new governments and political powers, these stations may very well be the key to ensuring the security of both Sieger Ren and the First Order's citizens.

Able to be crewed by a minimum of fifteen, the station is largely automated. As such, it can store several months worth of supplies before resupply is required. The newest in FOSB and First Order operations platforms, the Keeper-class is a step forward in area denial and long range surveillance. Collaboration toward a more secure empire.

I'd like to see the 'non-tactical' aspect of the gravity well generator further emphasized in weaknesses, to balance the much longer range and strength. Something like a lengthy recharge time (so it can't be rapidly redeployed) would work.
