ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Strengths

 • Energy Vampire: Because of its molecular shields, shield leech weapons, and hirjana based cap drains, Shining Path can absorb great amounts of energy to empower its own systems, generally making the use or energy weapons against the dreadnought ineffective at best and counterproductive at worst.

 • Mission Function Modules: These units give Shining Path additional functionality, exact feature varying depending on which is used.

 • TERA: A system that can significantly improve defensive capabilities and firing arcs. It can deflect or repulse against projectiles and energy bolts to reduce damage and redirect outgoing fire from Shining Path.

Weaknesses

 • Mobility: Even while possessing average speed and maneuverability for a warship of its size, it's still a giant dreadnought. It can be easily outpaced. Smaller escorts are then are almost demanded for protection against flanking.

 • Hangars: Has a very low starfighter complement for its size, having few squadrons to spare for offensive purposes.

 • TERA: The use of this system is highly energy intensive, drawing power from engines. No FTL drives can be used while TERA is active, then they require a minute to spool up power after TERA is deactivated. TERA is ineffective against continuos beam weapons, or rapid fire weapons striking the same area.

Description

Shining Path is the Silver Jedi Order’s first true dreadnought, created to serve as a strategic level command ship, a mobile base able to coordinate battles across multiple sectors, replacing the venerable but aging Will of the Force in this role.

Construction began shortly after the completion of the original Tenchu battlecruisers. The engineering division of the Silver Service Corps (the precursor to the Silver Engineering Corporation), improved their understanding of fabrication techniques by working on the Tenchu, and used those acquired skills in turn to construct even larger ships and stations.

Because of frequent run-ins with Sith, Imperials, and raiders, Shining Path was constructed at a hidden shipyard deep within the Roche Asteroid belt, with the assistance of Verpine, Kiribian, and Mon Cala engineers. Aside from a few technical hiccups, the building went smoothly over the course of the first two years.

However, right as Shining Path entered the final stages of development, Roche was raided by Sith who had acquired intel on the secret project through a mole. Under the combined might of the 4th and 9th Silver fleets, and Verpine defense forces, the Sith raiders, and their armada were successfully repelled.

Following the failed raid, Shining Path was moved to newly constructed SEC shipyards within the Alaris Expanse where it would enjoy the full protection of the 1st Home Fleet and Central Command.

While putting the finishing touches on Shining Path, new systems were incorporated into dreadnought to address recent developments on the intergalactic stage. Namely, the emergence of the new classes of battlecruisers and dreadnoughts from the Sith Empire. Shining Path was built first and foremost as a command ship, but was given the firepower necessary to directly engage these mechanical behemoths, and prevail.

Design
hygdXrpl.jpg

Exterior

Heavily inspired by Mon Cala designs and large aquatic creatures, Shining Path has a long tapered tubular design with several bulbous protrusions across the length of the vessel. This form allows the dreadnought to have good coverage at all angles without suffering from blind spots like typical Imperial dagger designs. Furthermore, it can continuously rotate to bring unarmored damaged sections to bear in combat.

While inspired by Mon Cala vessels, it is noticeably sleeker in appearance with a majestic and chrome-like finish reminiscent of Nubian designs, reflecting SEC design sensibilities.

Interior

VbbbutOl.jpg

Although first and foremost a warship, Shining Path also functions as a mobile base for long-term deployments, being larger than most models of civilian stations. So the usual blocky utilitarian designs were dumped in favor of more eye-pleasing asymmetric and organic aesthetic.

Neurotransmitters fashioned from Nihil smokestones are spread throughout the ship to help enhance the calming ambiance by projecting soothing mental messages on a subliminal level. In combat scenarios, this can help the crews aboard keep their bearing.

The vessel is large enough to house full city style residential blocks sourced from Sasori, exclusive to personnel assigned to the dreadnought. During installation, the blocks were remodeled by architects from the Luna Corporation with a new eco-friendly zen-like layout, not unlike the Silver Rest. The modules are self-sustaining, with small factories capable of synthesizing munitions and other materials for Shining Path to maintain itself when fed with raw materials.

UsXYVU8.gif

While the residential modules were more than capable of providing for basic needs, Some private entities like Pizza Hutt were invited to set up shop and provide certain premium retail and entertainment options to boost morale.

S1ScQdg.gif

The CIC/Operations Center, nicknamed the “Lighthouse”, is the nerve center of Shining Path, It’s housed within its own shielded and armored fortress complex fashioned from a modular garrison, set at the center of the residential modules at the core of the dreadnought. The Vault also doubles as the primary residence of senior command staff and Jedi aboard Shining Path, keeping them within easy reach of the Ops Center.

Vo4dQC9l.jpg

Hangars and Storage

Taking the cues from the Deluge battlecarrier, Shining Path has several dozen small hangars instead of a few large ones to eliminate a single point of weakness and make it harder for any large enemy force to land.

While Shining Path is host to relatively few dedicated fighter squadrons for self-defense and reconnaissance, it can nonetheless hold an impressive amount of other vehicles and platforms for support and ground side operations. Storage and passenger capacity, in general, is great, and be further expanded with certain mission modules.

Powerplant

p0qa72Q.gif

The dreadnought runs on a new was developed by KSA, even more revolutionary than the dark energy/quintessence reactors currently considered bleeding edge in the energy field.

That was zero point or vacuum energy, generally considered the most base form of energy for quantum-mechanical systems. An obscene amount of power can be generated from zero point energy. For instance, a grapefruit-sized volume of empty space is packed with enough energy to rival a full-sized hypermatter reactor of an average Star Destroyer.

The advantages using ZPE over other forms of energy were numerous, but within the context of designing a warship, this eliminated a point of weakness as ZPE based reactors could be made tiny and hard to reach through external attacks or internal sabotage. Measuring no bigger than two-liter soda bottles, three such ZPE reactors, housed within a shielded chamber, were created and mounted within the safety of the heavily guarded Lighthouse.

Large banks of diatium power cells exist to provide emergency power in the event of a shut-down of the main reactors. They can also collect excess energy gathered from external sources. In a low powered state with no FTL travel, the dreadnought can run for an additional six hours (ideal for spot repair work), while at full power, it's about a half hour for operation before total shutdown.

Energy primarily is transferred via power lines created from shards of synthetic seoulorian crystals, and adapters are used where needed to convert the energy into electricity to power electronic systems.

Overall, power management is very efficient with various waste heat management systems to recycle energy and programs that determine the bare minimum of energy needed to power systems.

Propulsion

Sublight

The primary engines are Shawyer drives, a form electromagnetic propulsion creating thrust from perpetual motion. Emitting no exhaust or contrails, drives are mounted within the superstructure under several layers of armor. The dreadnought has basically a nil drive signature due to virtually zero emissions, so when running silent it can be difficult to track for a vessel of its size.

For travel through atmospheres and gravity wells, the Shawyer drives are supplemented by large arrays of repulsorlifts. Aside from allowing the dreadnought to hover in place within gravity wells, their performance is unremarkable.

FTL

Shining Path is equipped with a high-performance class 0.5 hyperdrive for normal hyper transit. As has become standard for all new vessel produced for the Silver Spacy, it comes with HIMS. Much like the Krakana Battlecruisers, it features an enhanced HIMS package that enables it to penetrate or bypass especially large interdictor fields like those produced by the Keeper-class interdicton platforms.

Avionics

Computation

At the heart of Shining Path is a ship-wide memristor neural net spanning an area of thousands of square kilometers in several layers, affording Shining Path more than enough processing power to manage shipboard functions on its own, as well as carry out the gargantuan task of coordinating the actions of multiple fleets and armies.

Such an extensive neural net allows the ship to be highly automated, supplemented by droid crews (typically Marinus and Archimedes units). Few organic crews are then required. Optimal levels of operation call for a crew sizes standard for an average cruiser, but in an emergency, the dreadnought can be successfully manned by only a few dozens.

Sensors/Navigation

Its onboard sensor suite is very powerful, allowing it to track objects across vast distances, enhanced by digital processing with its neural net. Equipped with advanced sensors like quantum radar, crystal grav traps, and high-resolution magnetic sensors, in an alert state it can even track stealthed objects to some degree, particularly those relying wholly or mostly on passive schemes like reflec coating.

Thanks to Hydra, Shining Path can seamlessly perform sensor fusion with other friendly vessels, integrating their readouts as if they were its own, providing itself with a complete picture of its surroundings.

Navigation is usually handled by the neural net, powerful enough to quickly calculate astrogation solutions for precision jumps on command.

Communication

Shining Path has a powerful communication suite to match its sensor package, designed to operate even in the midst of most jamming intensive environments.

To serve as an effective command ship, Shining Path was given advanced network functionality through Freyja and Hydra, allowing it to quickly create its own heavily encrypted battle nets even in within neutral or enemy territory where there normally isn’t the infrastructure to do so. To extend its range, it can use tactical hyperdrive pods to deploy probes and satellites across systems and sectors.

It was designed to synergize well with the Silver Spacy’s and ISAF’s (Intergalactic Security Assistance Force) classes of tactical command ships like the Tenchu Kai and Krakana to create one interconnected web for smooth coordination between various theaters of battle in real time.

Command and Control

1PjQqJG.gif

The operations center is dominated by a single massive theater-like room used as the primary means of coordination between forces linked with Shining Path. Fitted with a Merlin holographic display. The interactive lifelike holograms offer commanders a highly immersive means of directing forces on a grand scale. Immediate dissemination of commands and feedback is facilitated by a collection of Subutai analysis units collectively referred to as the Magi.

mDJPrHS.gif

Avatar of the "Magi"

Commanders are able to focus completely on developing tactics and strategies while Magi streamline the most tedious elements of command and control. Over time, they are able to adapt to new opponents, offering advice and taking preemptive action as allowed by their commanders.

From multiple run-ins with the First Order, Sith Empire, and the Galactic Empire, Magi already has extensive profiles on said adversaries, right down to the tactics of individual commanders.

Branching off from the main ops center are a ring of are secondary rooms dedicated to monitoring and directing more specific missions like logistical operations and internal defense.

Cybernetic and meditation chambers are also located in this area to help Jedi and other friendly Force Users augment their abilities or enhance ship functions.

Defenses

Armor

Underneath the elegant exterior is one of the toughest warships in the galaxy. It begins with the frame itself, a sturdy honeycomb superstructure composed of ferrocarbon infused with neutronium. The ferrocarbon is light but strong, resistant to corrosives. The infusion of neutronium enables the frame to effectively disperse energy from impacts, including those of ramming ships. This effect is further enhanced by anti-concussion field generators. To protect against damage spread, all critical sections of the ships like the engines are compartmentalized with multiple layers of bulkheads.

The hull is comprised of KSA’s proprietary composite laminate armor, Ajax. Designed with current and future weaponry in mind, Ajax is optimized to deal with both kinetic and energy attacks. The underlying anti concussion field generators help improve hull strength.

Topping off the main hull is an experimental type of tractor based reactive armor developed by KSA, originally as a replacement for NERA blocks used on the Tenchu. Called “TERA” (Tractor Energy Reactive Armor), the system consists of a ship-wide array of small but powerful tractor pressor emitters that all work together to actively deflect and/or repulse both powerful projectile and energy based attacks. TERA was modeled after a similar scheme used by Nantex fighters to redirect laser bolts. Utilized offensively, TERA can also redirect its own fire in a similar manner.

It's an impressive system, but one that requires a massive amount of energy that has to be siphoned off from other systems, usually engines. By default, TERA is deactivated, typically deployed when encountering ships with powerful special weapons like capital grade proton beam cannons that often eat through normal defenses.

To defend against solar ionization cannons and other exotic weapons capable of bypassing shielding, all external emplacements received a thin plating of energy resistant reinforced duraplast , agrinium, and a coating of ablative gels.

Shielding

Mon Cala influence is most evident in this area, Shining Path being fitted with multiple overlapping strong deflector shields created from an array of dozens of generators. Like all Mon Cala vessels, the shield generators are buried within the superstructure to protect against direct attack. At the cost of drawing energy from other areas, shield strength can be intensified in specific areas to improve defenses there.

When firing physical projectiles, tiny momentary gaps appear in the particle shielding to allow them to escape. This is possible thanks to the use of several multiple smaller generators, eliminating the need to bring down all particle shielding during fire.

Thanks to the use of Haruna regenerative cap drains, sourced from Ringovinda Systems, power cycling for Shining Path’s shields is much better than standard shielding due to high energy efficiency and energy absorption capabilities, especially when used in tandem with its primary molecular shielding. This also makes the dreadnought especially resilient against energy attacks and even become empowered by them.

ECM

By default, Shining Path is equipped with a large collection of Erebus jamming arrays, capable of jamming and spoofing targets to interfere with long-range fire. In more defensive use at close range, the Erebus can be used to create an electronic shroud to interfere with the relatively weak sensors of smaller attack craft and guided munitions.

Caltrop-5 flechette cannons supplement the Erebus jammers with a low tech but effective technique of creating physical interference and overload targeting sensors with nearly countless pieces of shrapnel to track.

Ion/EMP Protection

Shining Path is wired to operate on photonic circuitry rather than electronic, making it virtually immune to Ion or EMP attacks. Information is transferred across synthetic fiber optic cables, and power comes from lines of energy crystals mentioned above.

Haruna cap drains are used protect all electronics against overloads, supplemented by energy sinks.

As a last resort, systems may temporarily shut down to avoid the risk of permanent damage.

Cyber Defense

To thwart physical slicing attempts, all terminals and machines onboard are protected by socketguards. As a “nuclear” option, an echo pulse may be used to cripple or destroy an attacker’s slicing equipment. Air gaps exist between low-security terminals and more critical systems and secured networks to prevent seizure and sabotage.

On the digital front, Mithril Security Software is employed. It’s a powerful cloud-based service capable of adapting to new threats in real time through machine learning. From data gathered from the Huginn Biocomm Network following the GA’s first invasion of Anoat, Mithril has become hardened against Mechu Deru, making that method of attack difficult to perform.

Mithril keeps profiles on all personnel, logging their biometrics, basic computer usage, and permissions, so it can often tell when a user has been compromised or is operating under duress. As an example, accessing maps in the midst of a boarding, or file paths outside the norm of the terminal for the user and in general.

In addition to Mithril, there's the usual slew of defenses like military grade pyrowalls and encryption. System backups are maintained onboard in the event a system is compromised and requires a reboot.

Overseeing cybersecurity operations are large teams of security specialists, white hats, and technopaths, looking out for anything automated systems may miss.

Anti-Boarding Measures

Shining Path’s first line of defense against enemy borders is, of course, its own crew. It quite literally flies around with its own army of Jedi, Rangers, and battle droids.

Internal defenses are directly governed by Magi, treating Shining Path like another battlefield in a boarding event, adjusting to attackers with a wide variety of lethal and non-lethal countermeasures in real time like an immune system.

Corridors and service tunnels, modeled closely after the circulatory system, can warp and constrict to create additional obstacles.

The neurotransmitters originally installed for the crew’s well of being can be used more offensively to try to induce hysteria, vertigo, and general confusion among attackers as they attempt to navigate the labyrinthine corridors of Shining Path.

To neutralize contaminants and prevent their spread aboard the ship, osmotic field generators and ultrasonic scrubbers are used. The former can also work like normal force fields to ensnare targets.

Armaments

The main guns of Shining Path are a two massive long-range shield leech cannons, one mounted fore and aft along the spine. These leech cannons can quickly strip individual targets of their shielding, leaving them open for direct attack by Shining Path’s array of extremely powerful capital weapons like its Angon HVC batteries, or its Onager railguns designed as “ship killers”. With these cannons, it can attempt to strip targets whole, or use more focused attacks to try to create specific weak spots or open breaches for exploitation. While spinal mounted, the leech cannons can be fired up to 15 degrees off bore.

Another notable system is its collection of heavy tractor/pressor beam emitters. Enhanced by magnite crystals, it can use these tractor beams to pull or repulse large objects with ease. Useful for disturbingly common events like repulsing suicidal ship ramming, or catching large pieces of debris falling in atmo.

Outside of its extreme weaponry, the rest of its offensive armaments are a well-balanced collection of platforms arranged to pick off smaller and weaker support craft, and ward off attacking capital ships coming in for close range attack or flanking maneuvers.

Just like the Tenchu, Shining Path has exceptional defensive armaments when it comes to engaging entire squadrons and wings, beginning with its batteries of Tenjin ion torpedo launchers that can knock out attack craft well before they can enter effective engagement ranges.

Mission Function Modules

These are self-contained units that can be hooked into Shining Path to give it the ability to perform different specialized roles. At present, the dreadnought can accept any single Mission Function Module developed for the Krakana and other Silver Spacy vessels.

In addition to these basic modules, special ones have been created especially for Shining Path, and will be highlighted as such. More are slated to be created (separate submissions).

From the Krakana (Quotes is not working for me):

Hospital: This module remains relatively unchanged from the TaggeCo version, housing a large number of medical staff, both organic and inorganic, along with extensive surgical suites, bacta tanks, and recovery wards to help stabilize and heal thousands of peoples. Silver Jedi technicians have notably replaced dozens of typical beds with stasis chambers to stabilize those who are grieviously injured or infected. The hospital module is typically given to Krakanas deployed on humitarian and mercy missions, making a strategic asset even if it has little direct combat value.

Survey Module: Another module that remains relatively unchanged from the TaggeCo version. Refurbished Silver Jedi survey modules notably replace the carried starfighters and blastboats with hyperspace pods to carry probe droids to other part of a system or as an advance scouting force before the Krakana arrives. Krakanas with survey modules are typically used for large exploration expeditions in uncharted or dangerous areas. This module does not directly enhance the combat ability of a Krakana in any immediate tactical way.

Observation Module: Another refurbished module that remains relatively unchanged from the TaggeCo version. Silver Jedi modules do not carry any starfighters, using that space instead to support the addition of Signal Tappers and communication wave descramblers. Krakanas with observation modules are typically used to gather intelligence at a distance on enemy systems or to monitor the borders of Silver Jedi space in order to act as early warning and response assets.

Rescue Module: Another refurbished module that remains relatively unchanged from the TaggeCo version. Typically deployed to areas after massive space battles or natural disasters. Occasionally one of the Krakanas will carry sucha unit into battle if it is expected that there will be large numbers of casualties, and the fleet will not be occupying the space afterwards. This is done in order to ensure that damaged craft and EVA crew do not fall into enemy hands.

Colony Module: This is actually an extensively repurposed version of the Inquisition Module. While it retains the pair of modular garrisons, the interrogation droids are replaced with labor droids, the orbital nightcloak is replaced with weather and communication satellites, and the pre-fabricated disintegration chambers are replaced with simple tents. This allows Krakanas to assist in establishing new colonies or moving refugees to settle in other areas of already populated worlds.

Cloaking Warfare: One of the few Silver Jedi-specific modules, this provides the Krakana with a hibridium-based cloaking device, gravitic amplitude modulators, and a crystal gravfield trap along with generators to power those devices. This gives the Krakana the ability to be relatively stealthy, though specialized sensors may still detect its presence (but not its location) by picking up its ion engine wake. Because Hibridium based cloaking devices cut off both sensors and communications from going into and out of the field, its use is somewhat typically limited. Lucerne Labs added some utility by including the CGT though, not specifically to detect other cloaked ships, but because the sensor is not affected by the Krakana's own cloaking field. This means that a Krakana can see the locations of other objects in space and navigate around them, even if it can't tell what they are. Because the Krakana cannot differentiate the objects around it nor communicate with other ships while the cloaking field is active, this module remains of limited utility except in special circumstances.

Electronic Warfare: This module contains a dozen 220-SIG Sensor Jamming Devices, a dozen Mimic sensor Decoy launchers, a Missile Deactivation Transmitter, and a Ranger Subspace Transceiver signal-boosted by Hiridiu crystals. This module is the most encountered module found on Krakanas entering combat, as it amplifies their ability to communicate with friendly vessels while it similarly degrades enemy communications and sensors.

This module purpose is for masking friendly fleet movements while sewing confusion among enemy forces. It combines multiple Fallanassi packages and the Loki EWAR System together with specialized jammers to project realistic full-spectrum illusions and ghost signatures across a battlefield. Not only can it mask fleet movements within a theater, but can simulate multiple hyperspace reversions simultaneously to hide real objects entering or exiting hyperspace.

Sub-Hyperdrive: An alternate form of FTL travel that allows the dreadnought to pass through objects and mass shadows to quickly reach a destination.
There is no instance where this will be allowed for approval on the board. The sub-hyperspace wiki itself does not mention anything about being able to traverse through objects and mass shadows, either. In fact, the fact that sub-hyperspace was used by the Starkiller base to fire phantom energy into a planet and ignite its core suggests that it does not simply phase through solid objects or mass shadows. Every canon article which involves sub-hyperspace seems to agree with this conclusion, as none of them say or even imply that going through or into sub-hyperspace allows one to fly through planets/objects or go without interacting with mass shadows - especially as mass shadows are never mentioned in any of the articles.

Even if it were canon, this is so overpowered I'd be denying this on concept in the same way I'd deny a superlaser.

Secondary Energy Crystal Banks
Based on the wookieepedia article, the energy crystal is an unique canon item that was used to power the death star's superlaser, it isn't a common/produced material.

These are affiliated specifically with two companies, neither of which are the Silver Jedi Order. Unless the affiliations for these two submissions match then it will need to be removed.

I'm not seeing how a crystal gravfield trap, a sensor, is not effected by the hibridium cloak's drawbacks that specifically disable sensors.

You can ignore this question, information a member brought up has cleared this up for me.

I removed the sub-hyperdrive from the submission, and its in place I upgraded the primary hyperdrive to class 0.5.

I replaced the use of the energy crystal with that of diatium power cells, and Seoularian crystals for the power lines.

I added the original manufacturer Rhingovinda to manufacturer list. Will this suffice for the use the cap drains in this submission? If not, then I'll replace them with something else that performs a similar function.

the system consists of a ship-wide array of small but powerful tractor pressor emitters that all work together to actively deflect and/or repulse both powerful projectile and energy based attacks.
How effective is this at deflecting/repulsing projectiles and energy weapons? Does it fully curb projectiles away from the ship, does it only alter the trajectory of these projectiles to minimalize damage, what are the extents of this, and why is this not listed in your strengths?

TERA is listed in the strengths and weaknesses of the submission, and I explain the mechanics of the system in the description section.

It may deflect projectiles to have them impact at an angle to reduce the chances of penetration, or repulse them head on to reduce their velocity to reduce damage. It works a similar manner for energy bolts, diffusing them so that there's an increased spread of energy upon impact. It doesn't curve attacks around the ship or fling them back at the enemy.

As an added weaknesses, I can say that it doesn't work effectively against continuous beam weapons, or rapid fire weapons hitting the same spot.

The specifics of being able to alter projectile trajectory should be in the strength that mentions TERA. To anyone who hasn't read through the rather large and in-depth description it isn't immediately obvious what it does.

Sure.

That should be about it, I think.

Ask the submitter to place a modification request to add the affiliation for the SJO to the submission's affiliation field. The moment I see it in the modification request forum both this submission and the request will be approved.
