ASTRAL ARCADE

In downtown Pleasure City, Astral Arcade opens its doors for the first time. SImilar to nearly every entertaiment building on Zeltros, the outer face of the arcade is covered in bright, loud signage announcing opening night. Inside, dark upholstery meets multicolored neon lightning and rows upon rows of game machines. Next to the snack bar sits the prize counter, presently manned by one Zeltron wearing a garishly bright pink and green striped staff shirt.

"The hell?" Yula muttered, staring at a Ginko Pop figurine of Jasper Kai'el , a new release into the limited series. "I thought this guy had cybernetics?" The doll had two flesh-toned arms, which didn't match the image on the box she'd been unpacking. A misprint? Probably. Yula didn't care. With a shrug, she unloaded the rest of the prizes into the glass casing below the counter. "Whatever." She still didn't know how her mother had managed to rope her into this.

"Doors open soon!" She called out. "Anyone seen Kyra Perl ?"

HOW TO PLAY
Welcome to Astral Arcade! This is a social arcade thread open to anyone on Zeltros. Follow the instructions below to diceroll for tickets, which can be redeeemd for prizes below. You DO NOT need to participate in any of the games to join.

1. As a special opening night promotion, each thread participant will be given 10 game tokens to use. Additional game tokens may not be purchased.​
2. Players will dice roll for how well they do at each game. Dice rolls can be made using the forum function or a discord dice bot, using 20 sides. If using the forum dice roll, be aware that the roll will not generate until your post is posted. If using a discord dice bot, please post a screenshot of your roll(s) with your post.​
3. Your dice roll number will determine how many tickets you earn. A roll of one equals one ticket, and a roll of 10 equals 10 tickets, and a roll of 20 equals 20 tickets, etc.​
4. Players may play any game in any order they wish, as many times as they wish until their tokens run out. If you want to camp a specific game and spend all of your tokens there, go nuts. You can spend all 10 tokens in one post, or spread it out however you'd like.​
5. You can give tickets and tokens to other player characters. Just don't abuse this (i.e. using multiple alt accounts).​
6. If you want to mess with the machines or do something weird, shoot me a DM either here or on discord (Fat Raccoon#1783) and we'll figure out a way to dice roll for it.​
7. You can keep playing games even if you run out of tokens, but you won't be able to earn tickets from them.​
8. Tickets can be redeemed for prizes at the prize counter at any point in the thread.​
9. Keep fighting to a minimum. Spats may happen, but security will throw out anyone who gets too rowdy. If you roll up in an SSD I'm destroying your modem.​

Cloudcutter Xtreme 2​	A traditional racing video game where up to four players compete against eachother to be the first to cross the finish line. Multiple racing tracks are offered, including cityscapes from Zeltros, Bespin, Denon, Coruscant and more.	Up to 4​

"Golly..."

Loomi wandered about the Astral Arcade in somewhat of a daze. Her general thoughts had been that this was going to be a relaxing retreat, one that many in the order needed after the battle on Exegol. What she didn't expect was how much the pheromones would have an effect on her. They were thick in the air and highly sedative, enough to where the Godoan lost track of herself. Her antennae flitted about, overcome by the high stimulation. Having not been on the planet for very long, it was hard to process where she was going at any given time. Her head had gone all loopy, and a fuzzy feeling had seemingly wrapped around her entire body, rising from within her chest.

She loved it. Or maybe she did. Loomi was in too much of a clouded state to tell.

But she did eventually find something she wanted to do. The gentle harmonic rhythms of the nearby Dance Dance Regeneration machine seemed to be enough to draw her towards it, much like a moth to a bright and deadly substance. One of the patrons had recently finished, receiving a not-so-high score.

"That's rough, buddy," Loomi commented, slurring her words ever so slightly.

"Are you okay?" the patron asked, a younger human woman.

"Just peachy... my dude," the Godoan answered with a wobbly grin. "Imma do the dance machine now."

And do the dance machine she did. The teen shuffled up onto the platform in an unstable fashion and inserted her first token.

"Nice moves!" the Nautolan chimed, waving over to Loomi as he stepped up to the machine.

Inserting a token into the machine, the boy's stubby head-tails were already bopping even before the beat dropped.

His feet started to move, as he followed along with the colors and icons flashing along the screen before him. Rolling his shoulders backed, he put his whole body in motion as the game and the music took off.

The hard part of it was, Zak wanted to dance the way that he wanted to dance, not necessarily the way that the game was trying to prompt him. Some of the games calls were hella sus. Like calling for a criss-cross when Zak would have totally said that the beat called for a slide.

The disconnect between the two played out by the notes that the boy missed.

He'd definitely need another go to try and get the hang of this.

"Mommmy, come oooon," Vera nagged before she moved behind her mother, put her hands against her rear, and began to push a little, just to try and get her to speed up. But now that she was deeper into her pregnancy, and it showed, Valery couldn't really keep up with the little Noble's excitement and energy anymore. She shot Kahlil a look to try and get his help, and gently nudged Vera to start walking in front of her again.

"Sweetie, I can't go any faster," she said with a soft chuckle. "Your dad will play games with you, don't worry." That was the plan for today. To have a family trip and get Valery some fresh air at the same time. She had been very cranky from having to be home so much — she was way too active and energetic herself for it.

So this was exactly what she needed.

"Daddy! Look!" She began frantically pointing at the Whack-a-Sith game because it was fun, and they could go up against each other.

"My little star becoming a Shadow, hm?" she smirked and offered Kahlil some tokens that they could turn into tickets through the games they'd play. "Let's win our little girl some prizes, hm?"

Vacation time!

The rigors of fighting a nth Sith Civil War (whatever number they were on) and taking an expedition to Exegol had left the short-statured Acolyte quite severely spent. After clearing the retreat with her overseers, Quintessa had taken a starliner to Zeltros, which in her mind was a natural choice for a vacation.

Upon arriving, it hadn’t taken her long to find things to do during her two-day retreat and attending the grand opening of the Astral Arcade was one of them. From there, finding a game to indulge in was easy, as the Acolyte’s impulses led her towards the obvious choice for a being of her talents: the dance machines!

"Nice moves!" the Nautolan chimed, waving over to @Loomi as he stepped up to the machine.

“Mhmmmm hmmm…” Quintessa purred in agreement. “Swell moves, sis.” The short-statured Asa’nyx echoed, even though she hadn’t actually seen the teenager dance, nor did she know her score. Nevertheless, Quintessa took her place at an empty station next to the somewhat broken-looking Godoan and slotted one of her tokens into the machine.

Out of a desire to not make it completely obvious that she was a Sith Acolyte (and to not break the games), Quintessa refrained from harnessing any of her Force abilities. However, she didn’t care all that much about repressing her signature, as conspicuous or inconspicuous as it might have been. After all, the chances of her running into a Jedi playing a dance game at an arcade were next to nothing...

Or so, she believed.

“So, what do y’all do for a 9-to-5? Or just school?” Quintessa casually asked the two teenagers, as the countdown on her machine progressed towards zero, the lights suddenly flashing as she began to move in step with the arrows!

"Nice moves!"

"Huh?"

Loomi had entered a strange flow state, letting her reflexes kick in and just allowing her body to move. Like water, with no clear rhythm but still some level of grace.

That's how it felt, anyways, but the truth of the matter was that her last score had been pretty bad, but the people around her had complimented her anyways so she remained oblivious to that fact. Her wobbly grin returned as she somewhat unstably leaned back on the railing of the DDR machine.

"Well shucks, thanks Fish Guy," the Godoan remarked, attempting to put out a coherent sentence. "I don't know what I'm doing, but I think I'm winning."

She, in fact, was not. But who cared, right?

“So, what do y’all do for a 9-to-5? Or just school?”

"9-to..." Loomi frowned, struggling to process the string of words that had just been asked of her. "Is that a drug, miss? I don't do those. They're... real bad. Yeah."

The pheromones were really having an effect on her mental state. It was hard to think, and to that end she was completely oblivious to the darkside alignment of the woman with strange ears. Loomi sort of unstably turned to the young Nautolan padawan.

"Do Jedi do drugs?" she asked. "I don't think they do... Prolly get in trouble anyways. Bunch of Jedi here or whatever, and..."

Her expression seemed to deflate for a moment, her form metaphorically melting, before her energy rose back up. Loomi quickly forgot the present conversation, putting another token in the machine to play again.

[Cyran Vaas]

Standing still Cyran’s eyes narrowed, waiting for the target to appear. Hand drifting to his waist before suddenly- POW POW POW In an instant Cyran drew the mock blaster from his holster and shot down the pixelated porgs that fluttered across the screen. Testing his gunslinger skills with the “porg hunter” arcade machine and slotting the toy gun back into his holster. He ditched his armor for some more casual wear. No need getting worn out lugging around all that equipment.

The planet was filling up to capacity, with the war against the Maw seemingly concluding now it was a time for many to celebrate and reward themselves with some relaxation. So zeltros had a lot of off-worlders flocking to the popular tourist destination. Even Cyran had returned back home to spend some time with his family. But it could get a bit hectic sometimes so he decided instead to chill at a local arcade to pass some time. A new establishment that was affiliated to the Perls, an influential family of zeltros that Cyran didn’t really know all that much about.

Perking up some, the bounty hunter looked over at a small crowd that was forming around the Dance Dance Regeneration game. But he wasn’t able to see them for too long as the sounds of the game he was playing continued. But Cyran was too late as his attention snapped back to porg hunt. Met with the scene of a sly womp-rat laughing at him with a game over screen. “Damn…” He muttered to himself before slotting the mock gun back into the arcade machine. He wanted to play another game, maybe the one of the other games would be a bit of fun?

The Nautolan plugged another token into the machine.

His head started bopping along as the beat started up. Right off the bat, he and this game had issues. It was starting off with a box step? This totes called for a criss-cross into a spin. Then probably a split. Then the Nautolan might have pulled a break dance move.

But, no. The machine wanted a box step. And then it just seemed like random in-and-out motions.

Were they dancing? Or playing Simon Says?

"So, what do y'all do for a 9-to-5? Or just school?"

"Ughhhh. School is the worst," the Nautolan opined. Was that even a question? He felt like some things were just universally true.

Speaking of missing the question, the Godoan girl seemed dazed and confused. At first mistaking the question for asking if they wanted drugs. Then questioning if Jedi did drugs.

Did Jedi do drugs?

He felt, if this was a question on a test, the correct answer would be no. But wasn't alcohol a drug? At the club, he'd seen Iris Arani knocking a few drinks back. Quite a few people had, actually. They'd even had a Jedi bartender!

Also, not to put too fine a point on it, but had anyone ever tested Caltin Vanagor for steroids? Brah was jacked AF. "I dunno," the green-skinned boy uttered with a shrug. "I mean, we've got Jedi knights with smuggling compartments on their ships. You do the math."

What did that add up to?

To be honest, Zak wasn't sure himself. But people seemed to always say things like you do the math.

"Schools... I mean, like, schools terribad or whatever but... but, like, I DJ shows and stuff on weekends or whatever, so that's not bad," the Nautolan remarked, circling back to the question that the...

...the...

...well, to be completely honest, Zak wasn't really sure just what species this chick was. He liked her ears though. "What about you?"

Almost as an afterthought, the boy added, "I'm Zak by the way."

[Cato Harth]

Cato was a man on a mission. The Harths had taken a trip to Zeltros, with the excuse of using it to explore the pink side of Serena's lineage. Which was all well and good, but either way effectively amounted to goofing off and having fun. Perfectly fine with Cato and Serena alike. He had the baby strapped to his chest in a carrier, his hands akimbo as he scanned the array of lights, colors, and noises that filled the arcade. He breathed it in, reminded of one of the highlights of his youth.

"I would've come around Zeltros more often if I knew this was a place," Cato grinned, letting it falter slightly when he faced his wife, who was probably of the opinion that he had got more than enough Zeltros in his life. Serena babbled longwindedly, as if she were expressing something profound, "What ah, what do we wanna do first?"

"I would've come around Zeltros more often if I knew this was a place.”

Inanna just grinned at Cato, before her eyes darted down to the babbling Serena. “What?”

“Dat!” the toddler exclaimed, pointing to the racing game, Cloudcutter Xtreme 2. She then made a series of incomprehensible noises, of which only the word “go” was discernible, along with what might’ve been imitations of speeders accelerating. Her grasp of Basic may have been limited, but she got her point across well enough.

“Race you!” Inanna said, hurrying over and starting the game.

[Matt the Radar Tech]

From behind one of the arcade machines, sparks and a growl sounded.

"Darnit!"

Matt, the galactically qualified Radar Technician, stepped out and shook one of his hands, before he looked at the index finger for burns. There wasn't any. Still, the darn thing had zapped him good, as he began to suck on the tip of his finger and studied the machine in question.

It wasn't working, still.

"Wha, why?" Matt sighed in exasperation, as he slumped and looked upward from behind his wide brim glasses. "Contract work, I swear..."

Despite being a galactically qualified and recognized Radar Tech, the human was all out of ideas.

Who even wanted to play on ancient game machines, anyway?

Apparently a lot of sentients.

"Maybe if I..." Matt started to mutter, as he rubbed his chin, eyes back on the malfunctioning machine. "...inverse polarity couplers, or redirect flux capacitors? Could try..."

Matt glanced left to right, then kicked the machine with his boot--

* Brrrrrrrr-iiiiing, bring bring bring! *

--and nodded as the arcade flared back to life.

"Nailed it," Matt sniffed, as he adjusted his bright orange work vest and puffed his chest out, though no one seemed to care much. "Yeah - uh, heh, whatever..."

Matt bent down with a groan and picked up his tools, before he started to walk lazily around the arcade looking for more problems to fix...

[Daiya]

Finally, that hulking Zeltron was done hogging the Porg Hunter game. Daiya stepped up eagerly, grabbing the plastoid blaster before slotting in her token. She tugged a few times against the tether, testing how much give she had with it, taking a step toward the machine to give herself more space to maneuver. It set her up for close-range gunslinging, and that was something the young shadowrunner was an expert at. This game was going to be a breeze for getting tickets.

She bobbed her head to the tinny music of the introduction, her pink curls bouncing against her shoulders and the muscles in her arms tensing up as the game began. The targets were big and easy, exactly the kind of close range the teen had been expecting. She dispatched them quickly, moving almost too fast for the machine. Her moves were light and her heart giddy with the easy success, shifting her weight like she would with a real blaster in her hands.

"This isn't so fething hard," Daiya bragged to no one in particular, dispatching more of the animated birds as they popped up on the screen.

Then more, appearing at distance now.

Precision became the aim of the game, and Daiya frowned as she found some of her shots going wide. A few times, the porg disappeared before she had a chance to down it with the faux-blaster. "What the..."

Now they came from all sides, and the young shadowrunner stepped from one side to the next, leaning her shoulders to keep her arms in a pose. Three shots had taken down only two porgs, and with it her easy smile. Irritation ran through the teen's veins, she was way better than this in reality!

One more shot gone, and the tinny, somber noise from the machine signalled her game at an end.

"Piece of chit!" Daiya told the machine, shoving the tethered blaster in its holster with as much force as she could muster. Her eyes swept like a blaster across the arcade, scoping out the next targets. Grav-Ball Dunk was free, but it looked dumb. Galaxy Wheel was boring, and her mouth went dry at the sight of Cloudcutter Xtreme 2's speeder controls. Her eyes lit in a baby blue when they settled on the game that sent her heart pumping, and her boots clomping along the floor toward its platforms.

Dance Dance Regeneration, now that was a game she could beat easily.

She spun, halfway across the arcade, before rushing back to snag her tickets before someone could run away with them.

"I'll play winner," Daiya announced, placing her token on the edge of the display screen, regretting her first choice of game. The pair on the DDR machines were already working up a sweat, and greedy eyes watched the patterns pass on the screen, longing to be part of it already.

[Caltin Vanagor]

“Keep taking time for yourself until you are you again.” —Lalah Delia

True, it was not a place that he expected to be, but Caltin Vanagor was here as well. He was here with his wife, Chrysa Vanagor , as she wanted to play some “dunk” game. They were on vacation, a needed one, with things having been so ridiculously busy over the past few months (months meaning years) that they needed this time to just wind down and enjoy themselves. So they were here and having some fun.

He was interested in the “Cloudcutter” racing game, but the one chair he could fit into (it didn’t have arm rests), he fell off of. Laughing it off, which seemed to give permission to the others around him to laugh with him, he got up and walked around. Chrysa pulled him over to take a couple of shots on her game, but when he started to show her up she smacked him on the arm and sent him on his way..

Laughing and shaking his head, Caltin saw Zak doing some kind of calisthen…oh okay it’s a dancing game. There’s a video game for dancing? Anyway, moving along, the big guy found something that stopped him. The “Topple the Trooper” game, waiting and watching a few Gammoreans who were in front of him, Caltin paid for his turn and took a ball into each hand. Pushing it through the Force, Caltin laughed as he heard a couple of hecklers complain about the one sailing from his left hand and at one of the faux troopers.

Okay… okay….

Taking a moment and lining up his shot, the big man wound up and threw his toy weapon at its target. WHAM! The trooper indeed fell, but there was a crack on the retaining wall and the lights were flickering, the accompanying music was sounding wonky and the heckling voice was now crying out in pain. Pain? Really? Shock and awe crawled across the massive Jedi Master’s face as the Gamorreans were complaining that he broke the game. There was no arguing or trying to defend it, the Trooper game was down. Letting out a defeated sigh, he gave one of the techs his credit card to pay for the damage. There was a game he wanted to play anyway…

The Mandalorian Striker game…

Putting money down, Caltin took the hammer and swung. The bell ringing was loud enough for people to hear it outside. Several shots went down and the dirty looks he was getting (from the noise mainly) was his cue to go back and cheer his wife on.

 

[Cinder]

This place was chaos.

Lights. Sounds. People. Prizes.

Oh, the prizes. Cinder currently stood at the counter, staring down a plush toy that she wanted despite not knowing exactly why. There were ten tickets in her hand, the ones given upon entering. She could exchange them for the toy now. But then, what would she do for the rest of the night? She had no money of her own to spend.

She'd gone from breaking out of a lab on Denon to the junk world of Altier to here... on Zeltros. Of course, her past was a mystery to almost everyone (even her, parts of it at least).

Cinder just hoped that Impulse wouldn't be too angry when he found out she'd ran off.

It wasn't for good. Cinder just wanted to see what it was like to be a teenage girl in the galaxy.

Daiya was a very good example to follow, after all.

After wandering the machines and watching some of the people play, Cinder decided to try her own luck. Perhaps she'd leave here with an armful of things. Tentatively, she settled before a machine with a ramp. And balls, that she assumed were rolled up said ramp and into little holes bearing the number of points. Scree-ball. This game took actual skill, a hand rolling a ball.

And so, she gave it a try.

It had been another fraught journey getting to Zeltros in her salvaged M3-A, with Daiya squished in too, she barely had enough space for the extra hyperfuel cells her ship required for long journeys, she needed a new ship. She might steal one, she might steal on today.

But for now was gaming time, she had her little stack of gaming tokens as she wandered around the arcade trying to decide what to play, the lights and sounds were so much fun and the blue haired girl looked wide eyed as she slurped from the drink she had grabbed, a Scarlet Nerf, it tasted like chemicals and made her heart race but it also made her brain tingle in the best way.

She wandered around and stood behind a couple of teens that were playing on some battle arena game, blasts and flashes flared from the green and the two of them were giggling at the screen, it looked fun, then Hex saw their gaming avatars "Oh hey! That character looks just like Corazona von Ascania !" she giggled in surprise as she waited her turn, stepping forward and looking at the machine. It didn't take her tokens, oh well, she could spare a couple of credits for a chance to send the noble jedi into battle. The character selection creen popped up and Hex focused to try and find the Cora lookalike.....

"No... fething... way..."

Her eyes widened as she saw a leering blue haired character staring right back at her, the eyes were wrong, and her proportions were out but... "Chit!" she was so confused but she had to give her ago. She slotted her credit it and began playing, mesmerised by the psychotic teen demolitionist.

'...The corpos will stoop to anything!...'
"I should be getting paid!"
'...Check who makes and and find their hq! ...'
'...And destroy them all!...'
"Sounds good to me"

A malicious grin curled around her lips as she finished and walked away from the machine, slurping deeply on her Scarlet Nerf. She saw Daiya shooting at porgs and decided to join her for a go. She slid up and put her arm around the other teens waist as Daiya finished her turn. "You winning?" Hex pulled out her own pistol and aimed at the screen, atm still around her best friend, "pow pow!" she giggled as the screen briefly went dark and she looked at the reflection of the two girls looking fierce.

Letting go she popped her own token in and started shooting at the little birds, she hadna couple of goes on the machine, although she sure she got one with a busted laser lens though. Even a blind stormtroopers should be able to hit a 6 inch target from six feet away.

"Piece of chit!"

"You too huh!" she laughed as the pink haired teen finished and started looking for more games to play.

Cato peered at the unattended game with a growing, competitive intensity, "Oh, you're done for." He pushed ahead with as much speed as was socially acceptable for a grown man in an arcade, slipping into one of the seats.

Cloudcutter Xtreme 2. Not a version he had played before, but similar enough games had more than prepared him, surely. He slipped in the tokens and placed his hands on the steering wheel-shaped controller. Serena of course, tried her best to aid him in this endeavor, grasping and slapping the controller with gleeful abandon, "We got this," Cato told her, before glancing at Inanna, "Ready?"

The game loaded the race track: Bespin. And counted down 3, 2, 1…

"Anyone seen Kyra Perl Kyra Perl ?"

Kyra remained sunk low in a spare Cloudcutter Xtreme 2, muttering to herself as she raced against AI's in her own track. "Aw, come on," she complained to the air. "I've been there, that's not where that alley leads!" Her speeder rammed into a building and exploded across the screen.

Game over taunted in her large neon letter.

"Gah!"

She hit the wheel as tickets came out.

Inanna was swiftly left in the dust. She had never played this game before—in fact, she couldn’t recall the last time she had played any arcade game—so it followed that she would suck at it.

“Awwww chit,” she muttered, still figuring out the controls. Within less than a minute, the screen flashed GAME OVER. She slumped in her seat, watching the machine print out a single ticket.

She was tempted to try something else, but... “Feth it.” She put another token into the game and tried again.

Kahlil chuckled just a little, but gave Valery a sympathetic look before he rushed up to pick Vera from the ground. At least to give Valery a chance to not be overwhelmed by four of their children at once. Three was already going to be a handful, and they were still growing.

Whack-a-Sith though? He stifled another laugh before he moved up to set her down and nodded.

"9-to..." Loomi frowned, struggling to process the string of words that had just been asked of her. "Is that a drug, miss? I don't do those. They're... real bad. Yeah."

“A drug? Well, I suppose it could be, if you like really overdo it.” Quintessa said. It seemed that the pheromones lingering in the air were getting to the Ginoan as well, perhaps more so than herself. At least in that regard, the Asa’nyx wasn’t alone.

However, it was the words that came next which caused Quintessa’s large, hypersensitive ears to twitch. How had the conversation turned to Jedi?

“I uhh…imagine that Jedi do whatever they think will get them the deepest connection to ‘the Force’ or something. Whatever is in their smuggling compartments probably has something to do with that.” The Asa’nyx’s naturally high-pitched voice lowered in playful mockery, feigning ignorance and probably doing a bad job of it. “I wouldn’t expect to see them at arcades, though.” She added.

"Schools... I mean, like, schools terribad or whatever but... but, like, I DJ shows and stuff on weekends or whatever, so that's not bad,"

“Oh you're a DJ? That's actually pretty rad! I used to dance.” Quintessa replied. “Still do, from time to time. I’m Quintessa, by the way.” She added with a soft smile, opting to use her real name. It wasn’t like she was famous or anything, so she didn’t anticipate that anyone would recognize her from that alone.
