  • A 7cm long intricately carved bone and kyber crystal artefact designed to be worn as a pendant.
  • Allows a force attuned individual to use the fold space force power even if they did not previously know it.
  • The item requires the user to make physical contact with it and visualise where they want to be.
  • The fold will transport the user and whatever they subconsciously consider on their person to the targeted location.
  • Weaker than the capabilities of a trained user of the power, the point at which space folds is not exactly on the point where the user is positioned. Instead the fold occurs somewhere within about 10 metres, most commonly within the arc of vision when cast, but not always.
  • The fold appears as an irregular shaped doorway through which the vague image of the target location can be seen. This is not a two way doorway and is only an access through the fold by the intended user. Snapping shut the moment the user passes through.
  • Ending physical contact with the artefact also causes the fold to collapse.

  • Mobility - Allowing the user to move quickly in three dimensions without having to physically move there gives excellent mobility.
  • Access to new abilities - The artefact allows the use of fold space in an individual that does not otherwise know the power
  • Small item - only 7cm long, less than 1cm thick and 3cm wide, the artefact is very small and easy to carry.
  • Alchemised materials - Made of bone and kyber, the pendant looks fragile, but the alchemy makes the bone as tough as metal.

  • Force attuned user - While the artefact provides the fold space ability, in order for plotting of the fold and providing the force power a user who is at least force attuned is required, even if unknowingly.
  • Obvious portal - The entry is a large multicoloured portal around 2m in diameter making it very obvious what is happening both on entry and exit.
  • Null zone - Within an area that the force is blocked, the artefact ceases to function and becomes simply a beautifully carved ornament.
  • Requires contact - Physical contact is required for the item to function, ending this ends the fold
  • Limited range - True masters of folding space have a functionally unlimited range, but this item has more restricted range, limited to somewhere around 500m
  • Fatigue - The item needs a living force user to control the force and expend their own energy to do so. Each fold takes resources from the user, the greater the distance the more taxing it is. Stronger force users have more to give but multiple folds can risk exhausting the user.
  • Imperfect fold - A true master will fold space exactly to where they are standing and instantly vanish to the other location. However this item causes the two space time points to meet imperfectly, meaning the fold arrives with an error of upto 10m from the caster. This means the caster then has to move to the fold to travel. Potentially giving a foe time to prevent their escape or score an extra hit or otherwise interfere with the caster. This inaccuracy also makes it useless in a close melee ambush context.
  • Use in an open space - For the same reasons as above, it is best to use this outside or in a large open space as the fold is no use if it appears behind a locked door or is otherwise not accessible.

Hex likes museums, they are fun and usually contain nothing to cause her anxiety, they are also full of fun ideas to try and replicate or steal. One such item was this pendant that she saw in a glass fronted case.

The pendant itself was created by a long dead Aing-tii Sith Lord who wanted to grant the apprentice some measure of their extremely useful fold space ability. Being a Sith Lord though, they did not wish to grant their apprentice the power to surpass them and built in several flaws and limitations. It was these limitations that allowed the Sith Lord to murder their apprentice when their apprentice tried to use the item to get the jump on him. When the swirling portal appeared without warning he knew what was coming and executed him with a stroke of his saber.

The item was of no use to the master so it was stored and eventually lost to history.

Thousands of years later it sat, gathering dust in a small museum of curiosities, no one really sure of it worked. That was until the curious and sticky fingered teen spotted it and her lust for the item was immediate. Suffice to say she won't be welcome back at that museum.

Hex, always one try new things played around with the item until she felt its presence beginning to recognise her mild force sensitivity. She primarily uses it while on her board in the air as the randomness of the fold means having an open space where she can spot it and get to it quickly is essential. The fold opens for as long as she concentrates on it, but this is tiring and pulls focus from her fighting so although she tried creating a loitering fold she could use, it wasn't really possible.
