Objective I : Diplomatic Reception

FINAL DAWN
TION SYSTEM, OUTER RIM TERRITORIES

Never had Sularen thought that he would be finding himself attending another major Imperial summit, especially after the fiasco at Eriadu that saw him suffer one of the biggest humiliations of his lifetime, on par with his confrontation with the Senate and the Betrayal of Credius Nargath. Ever since that fateful day, he had struggled to establish a strong and stable powerbase especially due to the machinations of individuals such as Julius Haskler whose schemes prevented Sularen from further expanding the Final Dawn's reach amongst other Imperials and thus causing it to further stagnate as it failed to gain traction with the Galactic Alliance adding more pressure on the Final Dawn's holdings and internal conflicts within the Maw prevented any sort of collaboration with other major subgroups to alleviate such issues.

However, the Second Great Hyperspace War had ended years ago and since then, the conclusion of the major conflict along with the collapse of both the Maw and the Empire would bring forth a lot of change and new opportunities. Contrary to the attitude to their more hawkish and conservative predecessors within the Old Empire, many of the emerging Imperial Splinter Groups seemed to have a more amicable approach towards the Final Dawn in spite of its reputation going as far as inviting the High Regent to a diplomatic gala hosted by the Duke of Serenno where Sularen was able to actually mingle with other like-minded Imperials outside the Unknown Regions without any safety concerns.

Not only would these changes in events open the possibility of further cooperation between the Final Dawn and Imperial Splinter Groups, but they would also enable Sularen to achieve what Haskler had sought to prevent, in expanding the Final Dawn's influence within the Imperial Geopolitical Sphere. As such when he was invited to another major Imperial summit at Tion hosted by the rising Imperial power known as the Empire of the Lost, the High Regent sought to utilize this opportunity to instead send an independent proxy in his stead but at the insistence of both his Aide and the Central Committee had instead opted to attend the summit personally. However unlike the previous summit at Eriadu, he wouldn't make his move just yet, especially with representatives of the so-called Imperial Military Protectorate and other organizations partaking at the summit, instead opting to simply observe the meeting and providing basic input in regards to the conversations that would occur as to avoid any conflict especially with the IMP.

Through this meeting, Sularen would acquire all the necessary insight he needed on the various groups of interests in order to begin what he called the "Great Game", which if successful would enable him to further accelerate his rise to power and bring down his long-time foes in the Core Worlds on his terms once and for all.

After the long trip from his Fortress World of O’reen to the rendezvous point within the Tion System, the High Regent soon found himself marching through the hallways of the Pride of Lianna, escorted by his usual escort of Elite Raptor Commandos and accompanied by his trusted personal assistant, Rackham. The High Regent himself was dressed in his usual attire, a Crimson Red Neo-Imperial Naval Uniform with an rank insignia consisting of two rows of grey-colored tiles and golden epaulettes on his shoulder while Rackham wore a simple White Neo-Imperial Uniform commonly worn by Politorate and COMPPOR Officers.

Outside the Pride of Lianna and its escorting fleet was the High Regent’s own Fleet consisting of the FDS Tyuk and its escort of one Heavy Battlecarrier, three regular Battlecruisers and five Star Destroyers, all commandeered by Admiral Tide. Even in the face of the Empire of the Lost’s large fleet, the High Regent was willing to put up his own display of force in order to give all the participants an idea of the destructive potential of the Final Dawn should they ever become hostile towards the High Regent. Unlike Eriadu, this time Sularen would make sure that any attempt to stir the pot with him would be nipped in the bud right on the spot, in order to properly remind the attendees that he was not some insignificant warlord who could be pushed around without consequence and that he was a force to be reckoned with and to be respected.

As he and his entourage approached the Conference Room, Sularen proceeded to speak to Rackham "Colonel. I want you to take note of every attendees and conduct a quick assessment of them as the meeting goes on." the High Regent ordered. "Yes sir. I won't disappoint you" Rackham simply responded. "You better not. We both know how important this summit is if we are going to push forward the Project Mynock" Sularen responded. Soon enough the High Regent and his entourage found himself at the entrance of the conference room where many other delegates had already taken their seats. Fixing his posture, Sularen took a deep breath before proceeding to enter the room, followed only by Rackham and two Raptor Commandos, ready to face the numerous delegates present and to forcibly insert himself within a political Sphere that had rejected him for far too long.

Aculia Voland

Protecting her children from the shadows.
As the numerous delegates from the various Imperial Remnant and corporations showed up, Aculia was more than happy to see Katherin DuPorcelen Katherin DuPorcelen arrive to assist her with meeting and greeting with all of them. They were so attending that she was afraid that she was unable to get to them all personally so the assistance of a fellow Moff-and one she was on friendly terms with-was welcome. Giving the Moffess one of her rare warm smiles, she nodded.

“I have my suspicions about a few potential arrivals, but I am both surprised and pleased so many responded to our call. Even if they wish simply to test us it is better than being ignored at the end of the day, love and hatred are different sides of the same coin but indifference, now, that’s the one thing that’s the most difficult to deal with.”

Taking a moment to collect herself, she continued.

“If you could deal with the more corporate-minded of our guests that would be appreciated…although I have run them in the past, my son handles most of our corporate affairs and he is too engaged with other matters to attend here today. I have to admit I am stretched a little thin between them and the political leaders.”

Aculia motioned for the two of them to head from the hangar towards the main hall of the event, then nodding at Katherine, moved to greet and talk with the first of doubtless many of the political figures who had arrived. Aculia decided she would start on a first come, first serve basis as that was the only way to really go about this without riffling too many feathers-although doubtless some would end up that way regardless. That would lead her to Aurelian Sigismund Aurelian Sigismund the Moff of two key and illustrious worlds: Zakuul and Vandermeer.

The man was large and larger still in his power armor, a magnificent figure combined with his gold and blue cape. Aculia thought the man had to be the product of genetic engineering of some sort, a legacy of a bygone era, as she had delved deeply into such research for her own machinations and had never heard of such being perfected to the degree that the Moff appeared to be, not to mention the fact that she could sense he was a Force wielder of some power. That was particularly unfortunate for her for her as she had hoped to use the Force to influence some of the attendees to be a little more open to diplomacy today, instead she had to hope he was amicable enough to understand that a conflict between the two was undesirable and that a kind of peace would work out the best for their two empires-perhaps even a kind of covert alliance if possible.

She approached the giant of a man smoothly and confidently nonetheless, realizing she could not allow herself to show any kind of weakness, stopping before the man who dwarfed her comparatively diminutive figure.

“Moff Sigismund…a pleasure to meet you. I am honored that the Griffin of Zakuul would make the journey here today…” She declared, giving just the hint of a deferential nod of the head out of respect as she did so. “I hope your journey here was pleasant and uneventful.”

TION SYSTEM | ETERNAL TRIUMPH | GREETING THE HOST
PART III

The Zakuulan approached the Moff with four of his Knights behind him, the rest would move back to the shuttle and wait there. It was less a need of bodyguards for the 'former' Moff, but more of a sign of allegiance and origin. He was Zakuulan, first and foremost, a follower of an ancient ideology which was gone long before any Imperial doctrine had settled outside of the Sith and he was proud of it. His allegiance to the New Imperial Order and the colonisation of Vandemar were his ambitions to put his name on the stage. And so far proved fruitful.

"Moff Voland, the pleasure is mine. Thank you for the opportunity to join this meeting which will for sure sow the seeds for future growth. I have been watching your aspirations and the one of this new incarnation of imperial beliefs with great interest and am looking forward to meeting and knowing those behind the steering wheel."

His gaze was stoic, it was hard by any means, lithic. His tone was neutral but direct, it was a voice which easily carried across chaotic battlefields or through magnificent halls and demanded attention, even respect.

"Now I will not hold you from greeting any other guests. I am sure there will be more time to converse." With that he offered a nod to her and would move on, the four Knights following suit as he marched out of the hangar and into the conference room. He was curious who else there was to meet. Some faces he sought to see and speak to, some others he did not need. There was finally room to fill and he would make sure it would be filled, he would not tolerate any deviations or empty ambitions of individuals.

As the past, the future was His.

TION SYSTEM | PRIDE OF LIANNA | LOOKING & FINDING
PART IV

After his entrance, Aurelian would notice a lot more people coming. Various backgrounds, various interests. Whatever the conference who hold, it would be decided here and now, completely independent of what the hosts intended or wanted. They decided to invite anyone who could identify and be a part of imperial affairs and would now carry the consequences. There was no violence in the air, even when his life-feed told him that the Final Dawn required a squadron of Star Destroyers to feel safe, the Hegemon did not give it a second look.

The first station the golden-armoured giant would make his brief appearance, was with Barran and Nines. Brothers in arms. He shared a common allegiance to imperial aspirations and keeping the elder Lord-Regent and the Baron of Borosk on his side was vital. Not only objectively, but he also wanted to do so. He respected them, both in their own ways.

"Lord Barran, Baron and - who might you be?" He looked at Minako Aoki-Barran Minako Aoki-Barran as he did not recognise her at all. A curious feeling to meet someone his feed would not right away provide information on.

"Good to see you as well. I trust you are both doing well? There is a lot of work these days and it is difficult to keep a hold of everyone." He was in fact watching most of what happened in the other splinter-domains, he was looking out for potential. Potential opportunities or potential threats. The Zakuulans gaze then fell on the approaching Geonosian and he decided that was the perfect opportunity to move on, after offering a nod to each of the New Imperials.

But he was not tempted to remain in the presence of people he already knew and had met. They had channels they could use to communicate and share anything and to not shut this an opportunity for networking beyond established lines, they should not show blocs or cliques in force, but rather mix into the mass of whatever kind were attracted. Who knows what could be found.

One thing was certain. Aurelian definitely had an interest to converse with Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen and Katherin DuPorcelen Katherin DuPorcelen . So his massive figure moved further and offered nods and brief greetings to some people until he found one he was truly intrigued by.

Aculia seemed slightly distressed. As a professional collegue, I was glad to potentially help if matters needed to be delegated. As a friend, helping my fellow Moff was the only thing that made sense to do. I nodded with her notes on matters of such attention. It was true, the fact these Imperials arrived does mean the Empire of the Lost had strength not to ignore. It then came down to me and Alucia to ensure we present such strength. She then suggested I handled the more corporately aligned guests. Considering occupation outside of being a Moff, it was a logical choice. She was the politican, I was the militant businesswoman.

"I have no qualms with such a plan, Moff Voland.", was what I said as us and our escorts began moving to the main chamber. I motioned to dismiss four of the Ultranauts back to the shuttle. The remaining four would remain as bodyguards. If there was to be pagentry here, then I was to show the Iron Legion here among all the others. Entering the chamber, we then split. My pace became more brisk. Considering my goal, the Trade Federation delegate was a sure choice. With what I learend, that would be the Geonosian guest, who was by no means hard to find.

It seemed he was busy with other guests for the time being, so I simply waited for a break in the conversation to occur in order to introduce myself.
"Archduke Hadis the second of Geonsis on behalf of the Trade Federation, I assume? My name is Moff Katherin DuPorcelen. It is a pleasure to greet you on behalf of the Empire of the Lost.
I then slightly bowed with my upper body as a subtle sign of respect. I then gave a moment's pause for the droid to translate. All I could hope is that my Kalidani accent did not disrupt the droid's processes. Luckily, it seemed well since it made a full message. Only one way to find out with his reply. In the meantime, I respectfully nodded to the others present.

The conversation with the Son of the Lord Regent Michael Barran Michael Barran had come to a close as the Archduke Hadiss II bowed heads to show respect before manning the controls of the mechno-chair. The sound of footsteps approaching from directly behind him drew the attention of the Trade Federation delegation with the figure revealing herself as Moff Katherin DuPorcelen Katherin DuPorcelen of the Empire of the Lost. The Pink Protocol Droid C3-LPO would take a few minutes to digest the speech from the Lost Moff but began to translate the language back into Geonosian for the Archduke to better understand.

"Fa mi mi [Click] sacu munkkala trade federation [Click] sa runa blanci [Click] Kura juris imperialawqr [Click]" it began to explain relaying the message that they were Moff Katherine DuPorcelen and was welcoming the Archduke Hadiss II of Geonosis to the imperial conference with all due reverence. Unlike most powers within the galaxy, the Trade Federation did not need starships or armies to have influence and so it was not surprising that the Lost Empire was attempting to mingle with their delegation in hopes of securing investment opportunities of their own.

"Charona fa routa de ko gad [Click] [Click] fa ra gertazabunti kek hurza [Click] tradezzza federation de empire lostaeh [Click]" The Geonosian Archduke said towards the protocol droid who took the message down piece by piece to relay back to Moff Katherine. While this was happening the Archduke thought back on the previous meeting with the Board of Trade. Expanding their influence was paramount even at the cost of accepting a terrible trade deal.

"His Excellency says that it is a pleasure as well to finally meet with the Lost Empire Representative. He hopes to avoid a lengthy conversation to get down to the point. The Trade Federation is interested in investing into the Empire of the Lost provided certain conditions are met." The Protocol Droid explained with some bluntness to match the emotions of his present master.

Aculia Voland

Protecting her children from the shadows.
Objective I

Aculia was pleasantly surprised by the Griffin’s forthrightness and friendliness. She liked both of those qualities and the fact that he seemed genuinely open to future cooperation and was considerate of her present somewhat overburdened situation. Maybe she had taken a bit too pessimistic an appraisal of how difficult it would be to get the various scattered Imperial warlords to work together to some extent-some of them seemed friendly enough at least initially.

“Thank you for your kind and considerate words, Moff Sigismund, and I hope you do enjoy the rest of the party. We will surely find time to speak of other matters later.”

Inclining her head, both she and the Griffin parted ways and she moved on to greet the next arrival(s) as she would have it. Taking a deep breath before she did so she tried to passively get a sense for the disposition of the next two through the Force, something that should not bring any heat down upon her since she was not directly interfering with them but which would only reveal strong emotions. She felt nothing particularly strong from two of the next three guests that had all clumped together, but one of them, Michael Barran, radiated a kind of quiet hostility that had not at all seemed present in Sigismund.

Maybe they are not so united in purpose and thought towards us? That could be useful, divide and conquer, although I genuinely hope that we can make an agreement here today that would not require such.

Intelligence reports about I.M.P. had been relatively sparse, especially regardings its leadership, but the elder Barran seemed to be a kind of lynchpin among the scattered Imperial warlord states. And if he was openly hostile towards them, she needed to figure out why and a way to put him at ease enough for a truce, even if it cost the Empire something in return. With the Galactic Alliance and the Sith scheming and expanding every which way getting knifed in the back from fellow Imperials was not something that the Empire could afford.

Approaching the three guests, she gave them a pleasant smile and introduced herself.

“Greetings to you Lord-Regent, Baron*, and the younger Barran, I hope you are enjoying the reception. I am Moff Aculia Voland of Lianna, Galidraan, and Belderone. It is good to see you here, there is much to discuss in these trying times."

Certainly there was a feeling of inadequacy within the commander. Both due to his lack of political sway, and because of some actual titans of the galaxy showing up to the conference. From his perspective he became quite the small fish remarkably quickly. Internally this lit a fire in him, while his outer facade remained quite cool.

There were some amongst the crowd who stood out just by how average they looked. Nimian would mostly chatter with the rogue's gallery that made up the Empire's roster. As he hobnobbed with his compatriots, he noticed a few unfamiliar faces infiltrate the usually close-knit groups. He was a well dressed young man who seemed to have a gift of gab about him.

This of course intrigued Nimian, who would find the young man's charisma refreshing. He excused himself from the conversation he was currently apart of, and began making his way through the conference hall.

"Excuse me sir, I do believe I recognize you from somewhere," Nimian said as he swished his glass around. "Were you perhaps attached to the 219th?"

He was sure that the man belonged there, why else would he be at such an upper class conference. Just knowing about the takeover of Tion meant he had to be of decently high rank. Perhaps he was one of those journalist types trying to get a peek behind the curtain, or maybe the man was in some way military? He certainly was in-shape enough for it.

As Lords Barran and Sigsimund departed to talk to their respective partners, the Baron was left alone to his thoughts.
There were few openings at the moment - he didn’t recognize any notable Lianna Imperials and he knew better than to delve into business dealings. The Baron had always been a military man, and he was more than content to let Moff Quentis and the economists in the Hub sort out whatever contracts needed to be made on Borosk. In any case, he trusted Lord Barran’s business sense more than his own, so he let his de jure superior take the reins.

And so, the Baron busied himself by looking around the room.

As he scanned the area, the Baron took note of a variety of different faces. Some, like Hadiss of the Trade Federation, were vaguely familiar to him. But most were not, and he could only make a series of vague assumptions based on appearances. Some appeared to be senior military officers like himself, while others were likely rulers of independent worlds or otherwise notable Imperial-aligned politicians. It was a fairly typical crowd for a high-stakes Imperial gathering, and nothing seemed amiss.

That was until woman with a long sheet of snow-white hair appeared in his peripheral vision.

Acuila Voland.

Immediately, the Baron turned to fully face his host. His intelligence had yielded precious little information on her background, but what the ISB had uncovered had been more than enough to understand her significance. Over the span of two decades, she had risen from a naval officer in a small state whose name escaped his memory to one of the most prominent members of the Moff Council who ruled over the Lianna government. Supposedly, there was a Grand Moff above even her, but for all intents and purposes Moff Voland was the top representative of the Lianna Imperials at the conference at the moment.

So, the Baron wondered, how would she present herself? Was she truly worthy of being an heir to the Empire and holding her own against major powers such as the Galactic Alliance, or was she little more than an opportunist exploiting the power vacuum left behind at Bastion, unequipped to deal with any threat larger than that of isolated warlords?

If there was ever a time to find out, now was the chance to do so.

“Greetings to you Lord-Regent, Baron*, and the younger Barran, I hope you are enjoying the reception. I am Moff Aculia Voland of Lianna, Galidraan, and Belderone. It is good to see you here, there is much to discuss in these trying times."

The Baron flinched beneath his helmet at the mention of Galidraan.

Surely, Moff Voland understood that two of the three people she were talking to were from the traditional ruling family of Galidraan and were opposed to the Lianna government’s rule on the world. Was her comment a subtle challenge to the Barran clan’s authority on their homeworld, or did she simply make an accidental slip-up? Either way, his opinion of the woman was lowered. Yet, the Baron also knew that he couldn’t fully judge a person’s character from a single statement. So for now, he would keep up friendly appearances and respect his host’s greeting.

“Greetings, Moff Voland.” replied the Baron. “Feel free to call me Nines if you wish. I don’t believe we have met before. It’s nice to meet you."

“I agree, there is much to discuss. Perhaps we could arrange for a meeting at a later time or date."

It was unlike Lady Aerin to be delayed, being as exacting and precise as she was known to be, but it was not every day that she was accompanied by her daughter into a domain that had the even the vaguest chance of becoming hostile. Though the young Knight-Errant had willfully and defiantly injected herself into a hostile environment not so long ago and with no oversight, an imperial conference was far more subtle, more delicate of a situation.

Though this was not the first time her daughter had attended a political meeting of any sort - between her mother and the Lord Regent, there were several instances - the atmosphere of this one was nothing like she had ever been exposed to: the jabs and cuts, much like any session of the Moff Council in the Imperial Citadel prior to the downfall of the Empire she had served, would be verbal in nature - were there to be any at all - and such an institution hadn’t truly existed for the better part of nineteen years.

Ultimately, her daughter was to observe more than she spoke, and observation was one thing in which the young Silthe ‘Silya’ Thrast typically excelled.

“Your cousin is present,” Siyndacha observed in a level tone as they wound their way into the appointed room, immediately picking out their compatriots in the company of others, “you might keep her company.”

That was hardly a suggestion. Wordlessly, her eighteen-year-old daughter flicked her a look that passed for acknowledgement, then set her bright blues on the daughter of the Shadow; her dark-grey-robed form then stalked towards the other young woman. For the elder woman’s part, she hung back for a further spell, enrobed in the wintry white of a high-necked collar, trousers, and cape that melded with her chalk-pale colouration, and took stock of the other attendees.

She wondered if any of these imperial upstarts were imbued with the level of shrewdness and intellect that Grand Moff Ignacious Korvan Ignacious Korvan had possessed. If there was ever anyone that had been her equal in mind, it had been that very man; she had felt that absence keenly, and had never been able to parse whether it was solely the dejarik game of their discourse that she missed.... but as her attention moved over the room from where she stood, there was only one thing that gave her a modicum of pause: the moment her gaze drifted over Thaelius Thaelius , one of the only more differently-coloured humanoids in the room. When she saw this specimen of the Chiss, the way he carried himself and the whites he wore, the extent of her flinch was a blink - it was no charade, she knew the kind of person she was viewing.

It brought to mind one historical figure of his species, a man marked in the records of their imperial forebears. She had only observed his kind of political office exceedingly so and was unerringly familiar with the conduct of a man well-suited to that office… but. And this was where her eyes narrowed ever so slightly at what she gleaned of him and his particular leanings. Siyndacha was all-too-familiar with that taint, whether the capability to wield it was present or not.

[ Hm. ]

But it was hard to say what his aims were. Assumptions, even educated ones, were still just that. When the Grand Moff gave her a polite nod as he did for those he saw, she gave him the same in return; thereafter, the Echani Warden of the Protectorate made her way over to her own people, and came to a stop alongside the Lord-Regent.

“Lord Barran,” she invoked quietly, crisply, in an aside as she settled into place, sparing a glance at Silya and Mari, then to the Baron who was conversing with… ah, so that was Moff Voland, “it’s good to find you in one piece.” Said with an abject lack of humour in her tone, but the meaning was entirely a humorous one. "It surprises me that the atmosphere in this mixture remains... civil, thus far."

Her mouth became a firmer line than it was, already. The discourse between differing imperial ideologies was typically acerbic, to put it mildly.

Introductions are still being made, it seems. With bits of smalltalk abounding amongst the attendees. I can overhear it all easily enough as I make my rounds through the hall with a drink in hand. In this very moment I feel quite alone and isolated while being in a hall full of people. However I could not expect it to be any different given that this is my first venture into this sector of space.

No one knows me, and I do not know them. Yet I cannot allow this to become my very first failure. Just being seen in passing could be enough to be somewhat remembered in a future meeting. Or at the very least; attending this event could at least be a shared topic of conversation somewhere along the road of life.

In the meantime I continue to wander the hall aimlessly. I do not insert myself into an ongoing conversation for it is quite rude to do so, and a true lady never interrupts. Instead I just take in the atmosphere and imagine what life is like in this corner of the Galaxy.

Dalmayr slipped into the function with the ease that had been ingrained with her studies as a Knight-Inquisitor. Whether through blatant diversion of attention to thwart her interest, or a matter of those with far loftier titles being present, she had remained unengaged with conversations.

She listened, heard without involving herself directly for keywords. For feelings behind them.

Always mindful of her mission even within the confines of their territories.

The enemy of Order never slept. Never let up. Chaos would not sow its dissident whispers among the beings here.

Reminding herself of the mantras that had driven her to seek the Sect that gave purpose to her existence. To pay back the people that had taken her in as an orphan, and given her everything to become more.

Order brought Harmony, and on its heels Unity. Those here held the most influence of Order. Or at least presented themselves in such a way. But ideals and actions tended to vary. Vigilance on not only her part, but a number of others kept these cogs of their ideals well oiled and synchronous.

Turning in time to give Order the chance it needed to reign supreme. To give those like herself a place in the galaxy to exist. To remove the stain of Chaos.

When the Cogs became worn, or slipped, such was their job to maintain that Order. To bring the Knowledge and Utility back to the cogs of the machine that was Order. Discipline and Will shaped them all, and when required, that same Discipline and Will reassembled or removed the pieces to continue that goal for Order.

Without such, the people would fall into Chaos without the cohesive Unity of those within this room. Without the Unity of those beneath them. Those that sought to bring Rhyme and Reason to the undisciplined sects that wove their controlled chaos through the galaxy to their own ends.

A familiar figure, adorned in their armor and rank caught her notice, slowly encircled by unfamiliar faces, as she wove her path through the gathering with a small path opening before her until she reached the gathering.

The speaker making themselves known as Moff Aculia Voland. Hidden behind the helm, Dalmayr's narrowed eyes were only for her acknowledgement.

She did not approach further, remaining outside the group for the time being as she scanned around them.

A smaller being with a drink in hand was wandering, and while nothing of note drew Dalmayr's attention, it seemed ill suited to leave guests adrift for the time being. Especially when they held themselves as those with lofty titles and upbringing.

A nudge in the correct direction perhaps was needed, and there were plenty with deeper pockets and more patience for the maneuvering of executive functions.

Dalmayr was concise and clear with her steps, visor facing Liin Terallo Liin Terallo after catching the woman in her sights. A small path that seemed to widen and close with her passing as she drew close enough to offer a small nod to the woman.

Her weapons were plainly visible on her hips, and she made no show of force besides her presence as she drew close enough to address the woman.

"Welcome to the gathering. I am Knight-Inquisitor Placcro. Who do I have the pleasure of meeting?" The mechanical edge from the annunciatior in her helmet mirrored by the cut and dry greeting she offered the woman.

She positioned herself in a way to prepare to head towards Hadiss II the Uniter, but her inquiry was first and foremost as she stood at ease, hands clasped behind her back and partially hidden behind her cloak.

Colton walked into the meeting room in full ISB dress uniform, as he entered he took a quick visual scan of the room, noting, possible sniper nest positions, security at the entrance and exit points, as well noting a number of what the enemies of the Empire would call high-value targets. He made his way through the room conversing with several aides, and advisors to the more prominent imperials present, gleaning what information he could about these prominent imperials, motives, and goals for the conference and the empire. He attempted to see how loyal these people were to the empire and get out ahead of any possible decent, or disloyalty from within. Colton caught the exchange happening across the room and subtly started making his way toward Shar Orime Shar Orime and Nimian Totan Nimian Totan

A glint of light reflecting from armor catches my attention. There is little doubt in my mind that the armored being is one of the guards for this event. Or perhaps a personal guard of one of the attendees.

I am a little taken aback as the guard moves in my direction and then stops. The visible weapons adorning the armor give me a sense of intimidation and I can just feel the inquisitive gaze that one can only assume is assessing the threat level that I may pose. Of which there is none.

I dip my head lightly in greeting. My stature does not falter as I feel more amused by this approach than anything else. "Lovely to make your acquaintance, Knight Inquisitor Placcro. I am Liin Terallo; member of the Board of Directors for the New Cov Biomolecule Company." I do not pry my gaze away. I can only guess that this Knight Inquisitor is a Force Wizard. More often than not, they are all that I encounter when I travel away from home. "With Knights such as yourselves guarding this gathering, I am relieved in the knowledge that we may all partake in relative safety. So thank you for that."

The language of Geonosian was somewhat puzzling. With my untrained ears, it hardly sounded like much of a pattern aside from the various clicks used to possibly separate subjects being communicated. Their frequency was sure to make me think it was some kind of verbal punctuation, yet the rest of the langauge was near-chaos. My native tounge of High Nelvaan, or High Imperial, was far more orderly. It was direct, simple, yet somewhat choppy sounding from what I learned from outsiders to the former Eternal Empire. It was a language of order that could be picked up even by the untrained.

When the droid translated the Archduke's reply, it then intrigued me how the Geonosian language was able to put so much into so little words communicated. Beneath my respirator, it was near-impossible to pick up on any pheremones possibly utilized. Knowing aliens, it was not out of place for such signals to be used as communicators. Regardless of my musings, a slight smile crept across my face beneath my mask. My eyes merely communicated approval through their flourscent pink stare. Him wanting to get straight to business was exactly what I would prefer. Such was the way of the Eternal Empire. I always could respect one who chose to be straightforward and direct.

Granted, while he seemed direct enough to skip pointless pleasentries, the introduction was frustratingly vague.

"May I ask what conditions you speak of? Additionally, what are the investments you wish to make? The Empire is willing to listen, but terms must be stated if there is to be any negotiation at all."
I decided to take the Eternal approach by skipping the pleasentries and compliments. If he wished to speak of business, then I was more than willing to oblige. Additionally, I was keen on making him talk more. He seemed to have that kind of proclivity. All I needed to do was coax the speech from him.

Having him speak more would lead to him divulging more information on his own stake with the Empire of the Lost. While the academies of Kalidan focused much on stating the greatness of the Eternal Empire's society, there was a fair bit of galactic history as well. Since before I was even receiving education to become a soldier in the Eternal Navy, I knew the Trade Federation's propensity for sly deals, more than any other outsider. While merchants could prove useful, I have been taught they were only interested in taking. Becoming a merchant of sorts myself, it seemed to be the case as well. Through my own corporation, I have gained much ability to take credits and power to fuel my interests. What separated me was that I was more a woman of military service than just a merchant. Such credits and power was invested into establishing order amidst chaos rather than being put into my pockets leaving only a hunger for more.

"That will be something quite invasive, expansionist for economic and even territorial aims. Most certainly which appears to be equal but allows these slaves of greed and hunger to dig their claws into a portion of your realm, politics or industry, creating a dependency. Less of a trade deal and more what one will consider as 'benevolent' pawn-making."

Aurelian appeared behind Katherin, his voice emotionless and straightly aimed at the representative of the Trade Federation, responding to her inquiry of what possible conditions might be under which the Federation would offer to engage with the Lost. They were greedy for the sake of greed, they did not even aspire higher ideological goals other than profit and power. It was the scum of the Galaxy in the Zakuulans opinion.

He had little interest or desire to negotiate with those who were playing in as many camps as possible, backing all teams so they would always win. It was pure corporatism, capitalism and opportunism. While having no issues with either, all together in one place were greatly pathetic. Credits were necessary, had always been necessary but to grab for every single of them and believe in delusions of grandeur through them, was certainly despicable.

Myri signed up for the gladiator games to show off a little for her new bosses. She assumed that someone with sway within the NISB would be present at the conference. And besides it wasn’t like they were just going to extend an invitation to a junior agent still looking to make a name for herself to some fancy high brow meeting. Once Myri took care of whatever they threw at her in the arena she could make an appearance at the conference and see if maybe the tricks that she had learned in the spy game could be used to make an equally large impact on the brass.

Myri was not exactly what spectators would figure to voluntarily enter into this event. She was a young woman, without a visible edge to her appearance. Some might even incorrectly think her to be soft. She was not wearing anything that suggested she was combat ready. Still to watch her warming up no one would doubt that she had some form of training in the art of combat. The words that the announcer droid gave to the crowd had no effect on Myri’s preparations. She just went through her routine stretches and then was bouncing a bit in anticipation as the fight was getting ready to start.

As the gates were raised and the Acklay entered the arena, Myri tensed and prepared to charge in. ”It seems we have a pleasant surprise. An addition to this bout. A refugee from the Eternal Empire looking to prove her mettle. Miss Myri Dara.” As the droid made the announcement no one except those with classified access to either the records of either the Eternal Empire or the new Empire of the Lost would have the slightest idea who Myri represented. And that was a good thing for a spy.

The Thyrsian woman swiftly and gracefully made her way to the center of the arena as the beast awkwardly made its entrance. ”Well at least it isn’t a Rancor,” Myri stated to herself as she prepared to charge, only to notice her teammate in the fight. A smirk formed on her lips as she took in Ami without stormtrooper armor. ”Together again it seems. This what all stormtroopers wear when they aren’t stormtrooping? At least there is no reason your faulty communications can ruin this fight. You have a plan? Or just gonna charge in there and whack it as hard as you can with your bat?”

The Archduke Hadiss II would scratch the long beard as the geonosian waited for the Moff's response. He had already been informed by the Senator for the Trade Federation Rulonom Laborr that securing the Empire of the Lost's investment was keen to the wider economic strategy. If the delegation had to make a one sided deal to accomplish this objective then it was an acceptable loss to their bottom line. The Pink Protocol Droid would turn to face Moff Katherin DuPorcelen Katherin DuPorcelen who stated that the Empire of the Lost wanted to know what kind of conditions and investments were the Trade Federation willing to offer them. It was about to be translated for the Archduke until the speech from Aurelian Sigismund Aurelian Sigismund cut him off, having his own opinion on the matter which was blunt and disrespectful to his master but it needed to be relayed anyway to move the conversation forward.

The Protocol Droid would move towards the Archduke and relay the message into his ear cavity. Finding it much easier than saying it out loud. Hadiss II glanced over to the Giant who so rudely interrupted their conversation and made some wild accusations against the Trade Federation although they were not entirely wrong on wanting to monopolize the industry of the Empire of the Lost for their own gain. But he would never willingly admit that to his planned business' partner.

"Charona ga routa gaahuzzas de ko gad [Click] [Click] fa ra gertaz' abunti kek hurza [Click] tradezzza jkiji maurhahata [Click Click] uuunhhh raakakas [Click]" The Geonosian Archduke said towards the protocol droid who took the message down to relay back to both parties involved in the conversation.

"His Excellency, Archduke Hadiss II welcomes the Giant from Zakuul but asks if you would refrain from interrupting a business' discussion. The current conversation does not involve conflict and religious crusades which you are best and only suited for. As to the Moff DuPorcelen the only current condition would be to switch your currency into the Trade Federation Standard Credit for ease of business'. The Trade Federation would be willing to invest in all areas such as armaments, medicine and mass production of resoruces." The Protocol Droid said towards them both.

TO DEFY THE STARS II: A NEST OF DANGERS - PART 3
og44BBl.png
Conference Reception, The Pride of Liarra
Tion Star-System (Late-Summer 900 ABY)

'Droid, I have a purchase to make.'

With courteous nods offered in silent parting between Serenno's former de facto leader and the Geonosian, almost giving silent nods to the intertwined history of both planets in a way, the Tattered Regent had then quickly turned to the accompanying protocol droid, though not intending to keep him away from his main tasks for long. Scanning his data into the field offered by the pink droid's wrist, the Woad calmly waited a second or so for the transfer to finalise before the eventual green glow was given in the datafield, nodding appreciatively as the arms withdrew a short moment later.

'Nice - added particulars in there as well. Thanks for the help.'

Turning away as the pink droid hurried back to the Geonosian's side, Lord Michael smiled to himself and muttered,'Oh, I wonder what Lucien.... Heh! What Aurelian would say to that little encounter.', before shaking off the thought on his way back to the other IMP and Vandemarian delegates. It was then that Aculia Voland caught the Tattered Regent's gaze for the first time, greeting the others in what appeared to be polite, conciliatory tones, very much going against the grain of Barran's expectations at the time. A pleasant surprise it was, but despite the kindly-mannered introductions, there was still much and more to discuss in light of contrastingly-volatile circumstances. Then after introductions were made, Michael eventually spoke up in response, warmly replying,'A pleasure it is, an' though pleasure isn't on the agenda tonight, I dare say business can wait.... Or at least - for now.', nodding to Aculia as he had to Hadiss II just moments before.

It was then that Michael caught the arrival of his Advisor with his niece, the one driving element behind the Empire's sustained power in it's last years, making Lady Siyndacha the one person to keep the Empire from fracturing in it's last moments, perhaps making Aerin all the more powerful in the eyes of history when she gave birth to one who would grow to become Barran's padawan. Changing the course of history twice before the turn of the century passed, keeping the command structure of the realm intact long after Ravelin fell to the Swarm, it was no wonder as to why Siyn was revered the I.M.P at every level of command, and especially so in consideration of how lightly these beneficial, corrective nudges had been applied at the time.

'There she is! My Advisor has finally arrived with my Padawan! Hope all was well on your way here, an' I trust my cousin is still in good health?'

PRIDE OF LIANNA, TION SYSTEM, OUTER RIM TERRITORIES

The Imperial Conference. Even the idea of it makes me nauseous. Imperials. As if that word can be slung around lightly, plastered on the face of anyone with an army of white-laded men and a Star Destroyer. If it were up to me, I would've spit on the invitation and sent in a squadron of Storm Commandos. Yet it wasn't up to me, and I heed to the word of the Lord Regent. And since he, and some of the most influential figures of the Protectorate are accepting the invitation, so should I. It does sound like a terrible idea, but I digress. Perhaps we shall see things closer, get to know them better. Moreover, it's a nice occasion to take my fifteen years old daughter, Argella, and have her see the inner-workings of galactic politics. She's the one who will inherit everything, after all. Everything that I've gained in the past twenty years, and everything that we, the Protectorate, set to achieve in the years to come. "Be respectful, but don't pull any punch and don't hide the brilliant, exquisite princess that is you." I told my daughter as our transport reached Pride of Lianna.

I am not the one to hide how I feel, however, and being fashionably late is just another sign of deviance and disrespect that I could air out for everyone's attention, at least for the ones who care and pay attention. Arriving in the Star Destroyer, I scanned the main hall, locating the important players, deciding on who to mingle with. Obviously, it has to start with the Lord Regent himself, first and foremost, and luckily, I did manage to find the old woad. Not only him, however. Besides the Lord Michael Barran Michael Barran is the ever marvelous Echani Knight-Commander, Lady Siyndacha Aerin Siyndacha Aerin .

"Lord Barran. Lady Aerin." I greeted the two. "You both look good." I chuckled, my statement was obviously targeted more towards the Echani Knight-Commander rather than the Lord Regent. He did age rather poorly, I have to say, even from the last time we've met. I guess age does catch-up even to the greatest of men. It has been a long time since I met my Imperial brethren in such a formal event. Our Empire is in shambles, after all, while this one swims in heaps of credits. "I suppose you haven't met my daughter, Argella." I introduced my daughter to my two confidantes. I have mentioned her on several occasions, yet this is the first time that any of the Protectorate founders have met her. I know that I don't have to make too much of an effort, however, she will do just fine showing these folks her worth.

"I see that the Baron and the Griffin have made it here." I mentioned to Lord Barran and Lady Aerin, using their nicknames instead of real names, not hiding the sarcastic tone in my voice. It's the long list of differences, I guess, combined with time, distance, and the fact that each of us lead our own domain. It doesn't change the fact that we, and the Protectorate in general, will be fighting together, towards the same goal, but you can't tell Argilac who to like and who's butt to lick. Spoiler; it's not Nines', it's not Aurelian's, and it's definitely not the Losts and Damned. "Generous of them for hosting disloyal subjects like us." I shifted my gaze towards the so-called Moffs of the Empire, including Aculia Voland Aculia Voland and Katherin DuPorcelen Katherin DuPorcelen . Other than the Moffs, some corporatist scum are also scattered throughout the rooms, the two Moffs included, but also a slimy Geonosian, Hadiss II the Uniter, and perhaps many more Trade Federation envoys amongst the crowd. No wonder that credits are plenty for this folks, they are all bought assets.

Those aren't the people that bother me the most, even if it's hard to believe. No, there's someone in this room that is much more despicable than all the others combined. Just the fact that this man has been invited to the Star Destroyer did shatter my whole attempts to be open with the idea. "Though, I must say that I'm quite displeased having to share this room with a Mawite Warlord." Setting my gaze towards Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen , I leaned towards the Lord Regent, whispering my true heart's contempt.
