Campaign Sympathy from the Devil: Campaign to Bryn'adul-held Ankhypt (Kegan, Kubindi, Lowick, Blank Hex, Ankhypt)

b5hziOn.png
Location: Landing Zone
Objective: Study and Test
Allies: Cara Dorniarn Cara Dorniarn Arctus Silmar Arctus Silmar

Equipment: In signature, samples of Talos Seeds, samples of Creeping Lignan
Forces: Alchemists, Geneticists, Several Spinners, Kanasaza

It was not her place to be on the frontlines in this excursion, for a multitude of reasons. She had been wanting to study and observe the monsters known as the Bryn'adul for some time. Their unique physiology, genetics, and equipment were something that fascinated the Lady of Secrets, but acquiring needed samples and data was exceptionally difficult considering their genocidal beliefs towards the rest of the galaxy.

Today, she was hoping to rectify those gaps. She had brought along several of her Spinners to accompany her research team, establishing themselves at the landing zone of their forces, far enough back from the frontlines to avoid being attacked. Just in case, she also brought along one of her strongest creations, one of her Twelve to protect the Spinners and her team as they studied any samples brought back to them. It was something Darth Mori had been insistent of, and she had readily agreed that it was necessary. Samples of some of their experiments such as Talos Seeds and Creeping Lignan were there for testing on live specimens, while her Spinners would be able to analyze any DNA or bio-matter faster than any computer could and tell her the most vital of information.

Even then, there were those in the field, such as Cara, that were to send back any information they could to assist in her endeavor.

Reidun looked around again, but she still didn't see any opponents worthy of fighting her. So far, she has only seen dozens of soldiers of the same look. True, in the present moment, they were also very important, because it was also necessary to kill them in order to survive. Now nothing else mattered, it’s just the only one thing. That's why she's got to kill them for now. Because they couldn't get to the machine either. The terraformation had to be completed.

True, perhaps even now the Little Girl was not an outstanding and legendary warrior, but her practice and experience was much more than when she was part of her first fight. As she struck with full force on the approaching soldiers, enemies, the sound of the destruction of armour and bones was music to her ears, still. At the previous moment, her sword stuck in one of the armours, so she let go of the weapon until she tore off the opponent's head with a strong blow, then pulled her weapon out of the dead victim.

Usually they were the ones who were told that the size of their army would never end, now she felt it against the enemy. She had never seen as much resistance or invasion as here. So far, such great fights have always avoided her. But Reidun was not afraid if she had to die, so she would die for her brothers and sisters. But in the meantime, the Little Girl had hoped to send as many Sith Imperialists to hell as possible.

She didn't have to wait long for the dance now. Usually Ingrid used to wait for the opponent to attack. Most people think that this could put them at a huge disadvantage because they could even kill anyone on the first attack. That was true, but the woman was confident on the battlefield, even against a stronger opponent than her. And letting go of the first attack was necessary to be able to survey and analyze her opponent. Which was especially important for a new species. Especially for a species she hasn't seen before.

She saw other creatures approaching, which were similarly tall, so her was quite overwhelmed by her opponents. It is true that she did not fear her demon either, because although one of them had been shot with a rifle before, it would not be so easy in close combat. She knew the first attack would reveal a lot about the other, so when the man attacked, Ingrid dodged the attack with her fast speed (which she originally had and not stemmed from the Force). Again, the firearm was used by the other. That's why she didn't even try to block it. Meanwhile, the other opponent arrived, targeting her and the demon. If it had come quietly, it might have surprised her, but it had no chance.

And because of the superiority, the Overlord decided to take another step, jumped back, and began to concentrate. She said foreign words, the woman's eyes began to glow, though it wasn't visible because of her helmet anyway, but it was for previously deceased creatures to climb out of the sand with melee weapons and armour. A dozen undead climbed out. And they did not attack Osam Osam , but the help that came with him. Meanwhile, even the demon got himself an opponent because he stepped forward to protect his summoner.

One of the demon’s first actions was to take the form that @Gorrge’s biggest fear is. As soon as he succeeded, he came close to him and tried to hit the draelvasier with full force. He had not yet tried to penetrate Gorrge's body in the form of smoke and devour him, he had only preferred physical combat.

Osam had prognosticated before he'd even fired the carbine that his opponent would not fall so easily to such a simple attack. Nevertheless, it was good to see how she resolved to react to the strike because it revealed that she was far more agile than he had originally perceived. He suspected that if he was able to land a blow against her that it would do considerable damage, but that she would be a somewhat difficult target to strike. Thankfully, with the arrival of others of his kin to assist he knew that it was only a matter of time until they had stricken out at every conceivable arc of fire, and entrapped her between round after round of projectiles.

He observed as she darted away from his attack, and subsequently managed to leap away from a thrown kukri from one of his allies. A glance at them revealed that they lacked a firearm, and had instead chosen to arm themselves exclusively with melee weapons. That was a peculiar choice in his eyes, but perhaps they had been trained as an expert in the implements of war, or possessed the drive of a Zealot when able to strike at such a close range. Regardless of their reason, he knew that he'd need to rely on their assistance - a band of undead had been arisen, and had managed to entangle the support that he'd gathered. Whether or not they would prevail against the risen corpses was uncertain, but he could hear the fire of their guns at close range, and the shrieks of pain behind him.

His focus was unbroken from his target - the Sith. If she was stricken down, then he had little doubt that the machinations of her power would be dispelled in the process. He would save both himself and his allies from the Dark Side's influence. He watched as the apparition began to shimmer and shift, adopting a different form in his peripheral vision, but he knew that focusing on it would only invite a strike from behind. "Can you handle it?" He uttered plainly, speaking to the Kukri-wielding Draelvasier in the hopes that they'd be able to take some pressure away by combating the ghoulish specter.

The Major let loose another spray of rounds, this time sweeping from left-to-right like a scythe's blade towards the Sith. He suspected that she would jump into the air in order to avoid this attack, just as she'd done to prevent being skewered by the kukri -- once she was up, she'd be restricted by gravity's grasp, and he'd have perhaps a second or two until she'd reached solid ground again -- in that moment, she would become little more than skeet to be picked out of the air. He trusted his reflexes to be quick, his accuracy to be acceptable... he needed to score hits, to slow her down, or this battle would spell damnation for him.

And he could not die here.

Kelmor watched as Tathra and his army clashed with the sea of undead. All his rage bubbled over, and with a roar he broke into a sprint, desperate to join the fray. Pushing to the front, he cracked his maces against the skulls of the undying, bone shattering across the blood soaked sand. In amongst the unending horde, Kelmor spotted something different. Within the enemy ranks, a strange man stood, looking like a spirit of death itself.

"Strange One, you are my prey" He said through grunts, making his way through the enemy forces like a hot knife through butter. As he neared, he picked up speed, until he was running full pelt at the mysterious man. Once in range, he delivered an upwards strike with his right hand mace, the spiked head cracking against the chest of the man.

From here, he could tell that whatever it was, it was humanoid at least. And if it was physically here, then he could break them.

Location: The Superstructure/Pyramid
Objective: Battle

The Draelvasier attacking the Pyramid were met with heavy resistance as they attempted to bring their bombs inside. They were met not only by stalwart Anubian defenders maintaining formidable shield walls, but newly activated traps and defenses that began to cut a swathe through their numbers. Spouts of flame, poisonous gas and all sorts of vile machinations were unleashed to keep them at bay for the meanwhile, culling some of their numbers.

Meanwhile, Sekhari was targetted by the Draelvasier siege towers. She skillfully manipulated the momentum of one of the oncoming shots, somehow managing to spin it around herself back towards that which'd fired it, though the second struck her shield, forcing her to ground. She growled, howling out a challenge to the Draelvasier chieftain. "KHAEUS! Come forth and face me, you coward! You shall suffer for your desecration of my homeworld!", she said, twirling her double-bladed lightsaber to cut down several Draelvasier who attempted to rush her.

Meanwhile, the inside of the Superstructure had turned into it's own warzone. Numberless hordes of the risen battled with newly birthed Draelvasier and the defenders within, surging forth from the openings they'd made into the fortress like a numberless tide. The tombs of Ankhypt were filled with the bones of generations upon generations. They certainly wern't suffering a corpse shortage.

Back on the surface, the next phase of the Anubian offensive was unleashed. From the tombs emerged large, animated statues. Constructs shaped in the likeness of the very Anubian gods themselves. A large one went stomping through the Draelvasier lines, crushing groups of them beneath it's massive ornate feet while unleashing deadly disruptor beams from it's eyesockets, disintigrating countless Bryn'adul caught in it's way.

As the force of Juggernauts pushed into the pyramid, they were met with heavy resistance. Traps swallowed Juggernauts whole and defences slowed their march. But even the stalwart defenders were no match, the shield walls did little to protect them from the projectile weaponry of the Juggernauts, coated in radesh oil allowing them to surpass their shields, culling their immediate number in the opening entrance in half with the surprise advantage the Bryn'adûl.

Galak cut down a score of ten with a single magazine, the triad chaingun mowing down the retreating interior anubians. Eight of their number had fallen already, a costly amount of such seasoned warriors.

"It'll only get worse from here, keep moving." Galak warned, his rifles barrel searing hot, glowng to the touch.

Automatons that stood like statues within woke, nearly ten feet tall and powerful but only stone. The juggernauts fired their weapons, and the Ravagers were unleashed - the massive, incredibly powerful creatures tore down the automatons as they came, charging through the doorways ahead. He didn't know how far they'd have to go to reach the centre of the pyramid, but he hoped it wouldn't get much more dangerous than this.

Though of course it would, it always did. He thought of Osam outside, the hundreds of his kin fighting just so he could have a chance at success. It all rested on his shoulders, their survival.

He wouldn't fail.

The Bryn'adûl warrior was enormous, larger than even Kascalion who was no stranger to imposing stature. A gargantua of flesh and an impenetrable carapace that reeked of a tyrannical control of the battlefield. The beasts were large, he knew this already, but he had never guessed that they could naturally reach the heights his deceased brother had through magic and alchemy. Thus, it is not unbelievable to say that for a moment, he was taken aback, even as he spoke the proverb that his father had drilled into his mind. He would have to strike fast with mighty swings and slashes aimed at its tendons. Incapacitate to a critical level before striking it down with a final descending thrust through the heart or the head.

That is what he had to-

The barbarian had swung first, catching the Devil off guard with marvelous swiftness and bringing a loud heaving grunt out from his now constricted lungs. Kascalion groaned as the sound of the mace crackling against his chest echoed in his skeletal mind. It was a powerful upward motion that thundered against his sternum and sent him flying back into the crowd of undead Anubians and Bryn'adûl savages and finally down into a supine position in the heated sands. His helmet had flown off in the crash, revealing more of his inhumane visage, golden skull now visible for all to see. A vicious attack that solidified a very early fact in this bout: this one was going to be laborious to defeat.

Springing back to his feet with a kip-up, a slight trickle of icy blood running down his bruise-colored chest under his leather cuirass, Kascalion uttered a banshee-like howl that dashed through the air towards his foe like a blue-flamed firebolt. A challenge of strength, speed, and endurance - the brute would at least understand that in his primal rage.

Twirling his lightsaber in a series of sharp circular motions, the Devil launched forward from the desert sands beneath his feet, kicking up a cloud of scorching grains into the sky. With lightning-quick steps, he sped towards the titan, weapon raised up and back behind his right shoulder, as if prepped for a violent downward slash. Instead, just as he hit the apex of approach, Kascalion sled down onto his knees and to the right, aiming the white blade for the massive thigh of his opponent, hoping to at the very least prove that he could in fact damage such a monster.

"Reports of engagement all across the front."
An explosion nearby kicked up a large storm of sand, liberally dousing the weathered limestone square with countless trillions of biting particles that were just as quickly blown away by the pressure wave as they fell to the earth. The officers and other adjutants scurried for cover every time it happened, respirators pushed up against their concerned features to deliver fresh filtered oxygen into their lungs as they coughed away the dust and detritus which perforated the unforgiving air. The Dark Lord of the Sith required no such protection, a barrier born from his own willpower kept anything from touching him.
"The Draelvasier are monstrous, little more than beasts." Spoke one of the officers after the dust had settled, his cold countenance and hard features marking him as a true son of the Empire. "They are an abomination in the eyes of Typhojem."
He was comparatively young as well, having been no more than seven or eight when the Empire had first begun its sweep across the northern territories. He had known no other life than that of the Empire, and he could not exist in any other environment. Such was the situation shared by the vast majority of the Empire's officer corps, which had quickly swelled with these next generations Imperials following the death, retirement, or outright defection of their predecessors. There were still pockets of the old guard, those who had remained steadfast with the Sith since before the Empire's formation, but the future was now held by these zealous firebrands, these revolutionaries of power and violence.
And through the careful manipulation of the Emperor's cousin, Hailyn Hailyn , they have become fierce disciples of the mythical god Left-Handed Typhojem, adding another layer of fanaticism that drove them to new heights of obedience and cruelty.
Carnifex listened to them talk in silence, his eyes closed in concentration as he meditated amidst his Sith apostles. The Emperor had long since grown tired of the abject adulation that often followed in his wake wherever he went, so by his ordinance he had commanded that none were to disturb him unless he called upon them. Those who were incapable of following that decree were not awarded a second chance, and such knowledge quickly spread throughout the Empire. Though they were fanatical to their dying breath, they kept their admiration of the Immortal Emperor beyond arm's length.
Opening his eyes, the Emperor rose from where he had been kneeling and turned his sight towards the distant horizon.
"Prepare my chariot, it is time to join the war."

The battle had begun, and now there was nothing they could do to stop it.

The roots, the blood. The force bound around Ankhypt like a power conduit. Whoever held Ankhypt would win the battle. Whoever won the battle would conquer the stars.

Seer Kalanthir watched from afar as the dark sorceries of the lost civilisation of Anubians fought back with vigor, unleahing terrible torrents. The undead stood as legion against the Bryn'adûl, a dire battle fought at the eye of the storm. He and the other Seers had forseen the conflicts that had been coming to their doorstep.

Ankhypt, Nar Kreeta. Fixed points in time, unavoidable. Even before they had began, the events that transpired in these battles sent shockwaves through time and space. The force did not bend to their concepts of reality, proximity to an explosion could be felt regardless of where you were. Below, above or at either side of it. None of that mattered.

What mattered now was their unity, this would determine their survival. Not for the battle itself, to be so devastating - but for the wounds their species would take. Ankhypt was a doorway to Draemidus Prime. They could not allow their borders to weaken.

Kalanthir watched the battle unfold with careful eyes upon the highest point of the Super-Construct.

Fight Titan, fight and win.

Today the Titan and his followers would win, or their souls would burn.

Reidun had seen the ships leaving before, not even one. She didn’t really know why theirs had left here when the super construct was very important. However, in the end, fate brought her in as well as she had to leave, one of the troop carriers landed not long after the girl, so it was time for them to go to the pyramid. She still didn’t really understand why, when protecting the super construct was more important and they couldn’t let the enemy destroy it. But since it was a superior order, she did not speak against it.

She even cut herself through a few soldiers, then jumped on the troop carrier, with which they went in the right direction after that. As they approached she could see why they had to come over. There were so many enemies here that they were almost endless. Here she saw enemies she had never seen before in her life. She had never seen the undead before, nor had she really heard of such, so Reidun had no idea what they were there. She knew the soldiers, in strange armour, but they were unfamiliar.

The team carrier finally landed and Little Girl was able to jump out of it as well. For a few more moments, she watched the “life forms” that now seem decidedly dead, it was still a little confused and incomprehensible to her, but as she saw from others that they were capable of destroying them, she also tried to see how much they could be hurt. She managed to do this, though no blood came from these things, but they lay dead in several pieces on the ground.

And Reidun felt enough at the moment and continued to fight with the two swords in her hand in the ring of the undead.

Badar observed as the battle commenced. The Bryn, while outnumbered and doomed to fail, fought better than ever before. The unity and the cohesion was amazing. No matter where they had stood before the battle, it was irrelevant. In battle, the Bryn fought as one unit. One Empire. One family. They had minds but they fought like they were programmed, each Drael in their place, side by side with the next. They resembled the mindless undead forces, which knew only one thing: Battle. The undead were like droids, one fell and one took its' place. Each one was in a position.

The difference?

The Bryn'Adûl weren't mindless. Nor were the Bryn just skeletons. The Bryn thought when they were in battle, while the undead knew only to attack. The Bryn were strong, armored, and alive while the undead were weak, fickle, and already dead. The Bryn were simply giving a quick second death to the creatures. That being said, the Bryn were losing troops at an alarming rate. They needed to end the fight quickly.

The Butcherer had reached firing distance. Hanging as low as Badar felt comfortable with, he ordered the bombardment to begin. The guns had charged as they approached, meaning they could immediately begin the attack. And so they did...the large beam of the butcherer slicing through the undead horde like the plasma swords of the jedi through flesh. The blasts couldn't get too close to the Bryn forces, though it should be close enough to create some separation...perhaps a few yards...between the current melee and the next undead trooper.

The other issues reducing the efficiency of this bombardment were the angle of the attack, and the time it takes for the gun to recharge. The angle meant the beam was hitting diagonally, rather than head on. If it was at ground-level, it may burn through half of the horde, but the angle meant it was only hitting three lines of undead troops, if that. The recharge wasn't a terrible delay, but it meant there was time for the Undead to get to the Bryn between shots. It was an unfortunate setback, but Badar knew it couldn't be avoided. The Bryn had to make due with what they had.

He just hoped it'd be enough.

Steps back were taken after the Sraelvuns charge was halted by this new strange foe. From the distance a sinister but alluring attraction emitted from her. It was something Gorrge could not see but rather intuitively knew was there. The air grew cold and a chill crept down his spine once more deadish ones were raised.

The demon that was her protector approached rapidly. Orange eyes rested on the charcoal shade of smoke before it began to morph. Twisting, turning and contorting its form. All the while its unseen eyes gazed into the Sraelvuns very heart and soul. It was searching. The smoke demon fell into several shapes before its final form was set. In the beginning the spitting image of Tathra Khaeus Tathra Khaeus , Warchief and leader of the Draelvasier was beheld. A form that intimidated Gorrge greatly but the closer this pretender came ti strike the more rage Gorrge was able to summon that swept this specific fear aside. Meeting the pretenders strike with a glancing blow the smoke demon shifted again. It searched far and wide.

Gorrge knew this demon of smoke was somehow apart of him and he could do nothing to stop its inner search for a great fear. Again it morphed, only this time into a great drael war beast. Its tail swiped viciously and suddenly sending Gorrge three meters to the right. Dust arose apon impact, body sprawled about and right hand still gripping his kukari tight. The extension of his will to fight. Stumbling to his feet the Sraelvun spat blood from his maw and shrugged his shoulders. A crack sounded down his back with the stretch. He groaned in pain.

Once more his bearings and wits became solidified in the present. His instinct to rise back to his feet was met with nothing more then another attack of a tail. It rose high ready to sweep the area. Gorrge ran. A fearless Sraelvun running from a foe, it was shameful and unheard of and yet it was not as it seemed. Fleeing back near the newly arisen undead and his own allies Gorrge dropped to the earth. His body barely missing the tail that swept from behind. The impending doom destined for him traded for the lives of his own kind, his brothers in arms but also the risen undead. The enemy.

Again he arose and once more the smoke demon shifted its form. Fear seemed as if it could not settle in. It seemed. Was this Sraelvun warrior too dim-witted to fear?! No. For as Gorrge readied himself for the demons next form, pumping himself up with his own chants, the form and shape the demon took for the last time made Gorrge freeze solid.

From Warchief to great beast and from beast into...well. It was an abomination of technological parts. Metal plating polished and stain in blood of his own. His fear manifest smelt of ruin and undoubting will. A large Sraelvun of all creatures but different. Part Draelvasier and part machine. A high pitched whine and buzz blarred into Gorrges head causing him to shout in pain and twist in place. It came from the the machine Draels own body and yet only Gorrge could hear it. The internal working. Only he could understand it.

This form startled him the most because he knew who this was, he knew this new form corrupted by modern technology.

It was him.

"Chit."

Pools of green light reflected off her goggles.

Time. She needed just a little more.

The clock had begun ticking faster than Cara had anticipated. Now she had been set on a scramble, the time allotted to her cleaved in half with an erupting pillar of light off the horizon. It signaled the rising of pawns, the corpses to be used by those who lived in the deserts. The dead had risen to give the living a chance to reclaim their besieged world and serve the Sith with a purpose Cara couldn't put to waste. A wave of sand haloed the back of her speeder as repulsors raced against the hour.

No equipment on her bike's loadout could reveal the location of the research nodes, Cara finding such a sensitive task best kept to the workings of the Force. Even if the Bryn'adul could not utilize higher fields of technology she refused to provide the slightest chance of sabotage. She pushed the limits of her capabilities to throw out a ping for any device to answer. At first there was silence, then muffled replies soon followed by familiar signals. Much to her chagrin the location of node-c14 was leading her to the outskirts of a conflict. All too quickly the superstructure rose over the horizon, the din of battle slowly overtaking the bike's soft hum. There were surprisingly fewer Bryn here than she anticipated, their attention taken elsewhere to fight a battle with dried bones and sand-leathered hides.

It wasn't worth the time to ensure a safer route around the current dance. She pushed the throttle and the speeder lurched ahead with a sharp howl. Though on the outskirts there were still clusters of bodies engaged in separate bloody waltzes. A hot spray of blood splashed her face and side as the bike zipped past the fray, and she grimaced into her scarf as her goggles were smeared. Still she kept her course, just missing the swing of an alien axe and the blast of friendly fire.

Sudden metallic pops exploded along the speeder's side. Gas hissed as a line was cut by ammo from a Bryn slugthrower.

She was losing speed.

She was losing time.

As the engine started its death rattle Cara sensed movement from the superstructure. Doors opened, revealing from within large creatures that dwarfed most any legionnaire and certainly made Cara the size of a child.

It was not a fight she could indulge. The node had answered, its location but a few klicks away hidden within a shallow ravine. But her mechanical steed was failing, rasping as its lungs were cut.

Speed.

Time.

Just a little more.

Cara's fingers impressed themselves into the metal handles of the speeder. Eyes glowed as yellow orbs, and her voice rivaled the growl of any Bryn'adul on the field.

"DID YOU GET MY PERMISSION TO QUIT!? NO!"

Spikes of twisted metal writhed from the speeder's side and threaded back into its frame stitching together the loose plates. Energy cells shuddered with the Force and shed their factory limitations. Wires snaked themselves around to patch hoses, and with a banshee's shriek the repulsors performed their own coup de grâce as they exploded with unnatural power.

It was all she could do to hold on as the speeder launched itself forward, its dying breath reforged into its dying bellow.

Ravine in sight Cara held her breath. She clutched the saddle bags and jumped. The speeder hurtled to its demise by meeting a stone outcrop with a shattering crash.

Cara pulled herself from the sand, coughing, and spitting. She pulled the goggles from her face then threw them aside. As she trudged forward she reached the node at last. She then began the data download and composed a message to the one who assigned her to the mission.

Lady Arcanix,

Included in this dataset are bioscans related to environmental and meterological desirdatum for the current specimens.

Node-c14 is compromised. Relocation impossible. Will proceed with its destruction.

-CD

The upload took longer to complete than the download. Though the superstructure loomed large behind her she kept her back against the ravine wall, its shade providing a small reprieve as she took a moment to sort through a saddle bag.

From the bag the black dome was pulled. The red symbol of the Sith Empire glitched to life on the helmet's reflective face. She turned it in her hands before slipping it on.

These undead were still very strange to Reidun. She hadn’t met an opponent before that if she cut or cut them in half, they didn’t bleed. They didn’t, just dust and maybe ash came out of them. It wasn’t a pleasant sight, it actually killed the enjoyment of war somewhere out of the “man,” in this case the draelvasier. For Reidun loved war, her kind of end space existed to fight. Without this, life would simply have been empty. And yet she had to fight these abominable creatures.

Reidun was not specifically, that is, a contemplative kind, she just went and carried out the command she received, not questioned it. Perhaps for the first time in her life she did not see the point of fighting. Not in the way others would think. Of course, the survival of her race was paramount, but it was not the war she had been trained for so far. It was unnatural in her eyes, a reversal of everything she had believed in or learned so far. The Force was already incomprehensible to her, but it was used by several of her brothers and sisters.

But not so, even if it had to do with it, she didn’t know because she didn’t know that power so much. She had no idea what was capable of such horror that she was seen here. She hoped she would never have to see her own brothers like that, or it wouldn’t happen to her. Reidun exclaimed loudly, angrily, slashing a few more undead who were there in front of or near her. She saw that many had entered the pyramid, but she was not told to do so, she intended to stay outside.

So for that reason too, she continued to watch and mow the undead, which made her realize that there weren’t too many of the people living here on the part of the enemy. She hoped it wasn’t just a diversion of the pyramid and what happened here to destroy the super construct in the meantime.

Cyrus had not been prepared for this event. He had been awoken by his master, Arctus Silmar Arctus Silmar several days before and told to gather his supplies and his equipment for a trip. He had not been told what was happening, where they were going, or even what he needed to be prepared for, but that was nothing new. Ever since he had become The Shapers apprentice, his world had become one of endless confusion and misdirection. Very little that was ever spoken to him could be taken at face value, and he had to learn the hard way the methodology of the Sith.

Still, he was taken by surprise when they arrived at the world of Ankhypt. He had never heard of the world, and while that was not exactly an oddity given his upbringing, he was still surprised to learn of its existence. Even more so when it was revealed to him they had come to this previously unheard of place to fight a war. A war against monsters and beasts from nightmare, that had entered our galaxy with the sole purpose of eradicating all life that was no their own.

Considering this was his first field trip with his master and fellow apprentice, he was taken a bit off guard.

He nodded silently as his master spoke, taking in his words though not fully registering them. His mind was instead focused on the expanded conflict all around them, and his eyes barely had time to linger at any one spot before they were drawn elsewhere. He was only drawn out of his thoughts when his fellow apprentice, Dok Varuut Dok Varuut began to stir. Cyrus had not had much contact with the man thus far, only brief encounters while training under their master. He moved with a fluid grace that Cyrus's dancing experienced eyes could see, though it felt entirely unnecessary right now. Unlike Dok, he did not wear any formal clothing or over clothing. He wore a simple black combat uniform, a loose opened black shirt and pants. His saberstaff hung at his hip, shifting in the breeze as he stood, arms folded, beside their master.

Cyrus would have time to debate further on his fellow apprentice, and as he had come to learn, his rival, later. For now, he had been given a task. He had learned about force lightning briefly while back on Korriban, and he focused his thoughts on it now. His skin began to tingle, and he felt a wave of Dark Side energy flowing just beneath the surface of his skin as he looked up slowly, his eyes narrowing on the target before them. Extending his right hand, Cyrus prepared to release the energy on the target his master had indicated.

Then the monsters came.

The ballista shot that knocked Sekhari out of the sky spun to the side as it bounded off of the exploding shield, crashing head first into the sand, the second flew back with enough force to dive into the meddled ranks, but not quite far enough to reach the Siege Towers nor with the velocity they could produce. The forces of the Bryn'adûl were undoubtedly outnumbered, but that did not mean they were outmatched. They fought back against the endless horde, their Juggernauts and drones working united together, trying to survive against the storm of enemy forces.

Statues rose from the sands, eyes blazing lines of slag out of their warriors. The Siege Towers turned their ballistas on the automatons, nearly fifty of their ballista's firing at the largest automaton. They're concentrated fire of turrets ripped through the enemy lines like paper. Though it was nearly impossible to fire safely among the entangled forces. Luckily, there were many undead encircling them, free targets.

Tathra cut down another and once more, hacking and slashing with both weapons as he was challenged aloud. The Warriors of the Bryn'adûl were honour-bond, they would not interfere, though less could be said for the dead. Tathra made his way toward the anubian empress.

He stood but six metres away from her now, gesturing with both arms wide for her to take her best shot.

"Its not your homeworld anymore."

The roots run deep, Ankhypt is our world and these heathen weaklings will not take from us. Indeed - we will TAKE from THEM.

The fingers of the Seer interlaced, watching in his own way upon the battlements. Even though within the facility itself chaos had erupted, it was rather peaceful standing upon the battlements. The cold wind howled in a secret chant of support for the planets current owners. The Seer did not have eyes for to see with, but indeed he saw so much with his mind - with his feelings outstretched. The Seers of the Bryn watched at a distance through the dance and echoes of the force, they heard its call and listened with intent.

The battle raged below, a leader would die and the sun would rise upon Ankhypt with a powerful warrior victorious over a hundred thousand corpses.

But that was all he knew, all he could feel. He could not predict nor dictate the course of the battle but indeed he did hope that Tathra and Galak and all the cohorts of Strength and Unity would indeed succeed. For it would mean the very survival of their kind would be at steak if they did not.

Take from them. Uproot the lands of the Sith and reap havoc and sow a victory across the stars.

His words more like thought were carried along the cold and feminine wind like a whisper to the ears of all Drael on the battlefield, a subconscious one that would unify them.

For they would be unified and survive, or die alone and perish like the sand at their feet.

Dok just smirked at the roar of fury calling him a coward. He sighted in with his blaster from his position on the ground, but made a different decision. Activating the Ascension cable launcher, and sighted in again. After a moment he fired, bracing against a boulder to yank his target down off the Leviathan. He had a few more cables to spare if he had to detach this one, but he was going to toy with this one a bit. Dangerous perhaps, but it didn't seem to be most observant being in the world.

Could just be bias from one short encounter though, so Dok maintained his camouflage, though the cable would lead to his gun, he'd drop it as soon as Sylok was pulled down from the Levithian. A fall like that should kill any force user. Instead it'd get them down where Dok could use his mobility to his advantage. He used the force to amplify his voice, though it'd still sound a whisper to Sylok's own ears.

"Down here...."

OBJECTIVE: Delay the undead advance
LOCATION: Outer perimeter of the Super-Construct
ALLIES: The Bryn | Keldothera Keldothera | Tathra Khaeus Tathra Khaeus | TBD
ENEMIES: TSE | Engaging undead under Sekhari
EQUIPMENT: Armor | Axe | Bow
UNITS:

  • 5x Shaman Beast Masters (including & lead by Ostak)
  • 5x Ra'mak War Beasts (1 controlled by each Master) (Full strength) (Engaging Anubian pyramid outer defenses)
  • 5x Obaliscs (1 controlled by each Master) (Full strength) (All engaging frontmost construct)
  • 3x Quilxyn Protectors (all controlled by Ostak) (Reserve/60%/60%) (1 on reserve, 2 covering the Obaliscs)
"Incoming giants!" yelled Ostak as numerous massive, beautiful yet terrifying statues rose from large tombs in the distance.
Out of the eyes of one of the massive monoliths came large destructive beams of energy, sweeping through the Draelvasier vanguard. As the figure raised its massive head, the beams arced forwards and up, skimming the barriers of the Protectors covering the Obaliscs.

"The right and left flank Protectors have taken moderate damage!" cried the Beast Master on his immediate left, shocked by the impressive power of the statues. If one of them had dealt so much damage with a passing blow, then how powerful could it be if it landed a direct, focused strike?

"Our new top priority is eliminating these giants." called Ostak. "Maintain the Protector formation and concentrate all Obaliscs on the closest giant, the one that just grazed our formation."

All five Obaliscs turned their attention forwards and upwards, aiming for the large head of the construct automaton. Their tentacles rippled with energy, which burst outwards in five large beams of energy that all traveled towards the statue's face. If they could disable the eyes, then the massive structure's attack range would be greatly limited.

"What about our War Beasts, Beast Master Ostak?" asked another Beast Master, located on his immediate right.

"Keep them away from the giants, and have them support our forces attacking their epicenter at the pyramid, regardless of damage."

The Ra'maks ceased their assault on the catapults and rose into the air, shooting forwards in a straight line towards the massive pyramid embroiled in conflict. Shield walls rose up to meet them, so the War Beasts turned to unleash a full broadside, rising further in an attempt to avoid most ground-based infantry defenses while also maintaining a proper height to fire unleash their cannon mounts on the defensive barrier.
