STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

+Exceptional Climber – While many Sraelvun are considered to be talented climbers due to the presence of their claws, Osam shines above even the masses in this regard, capable of hauling his considerable weight up even nearly vertical inclines.

+Halfbreed – Osam falls into the Drone caste of the Draelvasier, though his heritage means that he possesses a greater mind and physicality than many of his cloned peers, as well as a greater semblance of independence, though not to the point of equaling the pureblooded kin of the other sub-races. He also notably possesses the Baedurin resistance to heat and fire.

+Resilience - Driven by a desire to survive at nearly all costs, the hybrid is remarkably difficult to actually kill. While his flesh is no stronger than his kin, he has a will to live that exceeds many and will strive after existence.

-Cold Intolerance – Osam has inherited a severe weakness to highly cold temperatures much like his Baedurin kindred. If exposed for long periods of time to the chill, he will begin to slow and weaken until he expires, far before a human being would expire in similar circumstances.

-Satisfice – Osam has learned that in order to survive, he must meet certain benchmarks, but this knowledge has also taught him that it is unnecessary to go beyond these marks. He will only learn to perform most tasks “adequately”, and is unlikely to ever meet the abilities of someone who specializes in a skill.

-Fear of Lightsabers - Tormented by a number of encounters with Jedi Knights, Osam has developed paranoia and terror for lightsabers. While he can still fight against them in battle, he has a bad habit of flinching and reacting more brashly when engaged against them. This pervasive fear has tainted many of his thoughts in combat.

APPEARANCE:

Standing at a height of 2.7 meters, the bulky frame of Osam is average for the Sraelvun. He lacks the many features of his non-Sraelvun kin, and instead retains a simple scaly skin of a near-black color. He is hefty, indicating a substantial weight, but possesses little body fat. He has long claws tipping his appendages.

Osam bears a number of scars upon his body, primarily on his arms and lower legs where his armor is usually the least covering. At least a few of these markings have been etched into his skin with a degree of purpose, detailing different symbols showing his belonging to a Sraelvun tribe.

BIOGRAPHY:
Osam was naturally born to a Baedurin sire and an Aeravalin dame. He would never know these parental figures as he was quickly disposed of when his Sraelvun nature was revealed. A mere drone would never amount to any degree of greatness, after all, and there were wars that needed chaff. He was quickly forced to acclimate to the violent and brutal attitudes associated with the Sraelvun tribes. While physically domineering, there were always stronger opponents who took what they desired, forcing Osam to adopt more clandestine approaches.

Lacking in a sense of morality, Osam grew to appreciate that the strong take what they desire and that the weak are subordinate to them. Recognizing that death awaited him if he did not meet up to the standards of his betters, he fought harshly among his kin, distinguishing himself as mentally capable of following orders, and physically displaying a prowess for combat.

Osam is not a zealous adherent of the Crusade, instead performing most of his labors in the service of survival and personal improvement. While not a heretic, per se, he is also unbothered by the presence of them and is unlikely to take notice of their activities unless they were detrimental to him. Osam’s lack of devotion has led to incidents wherein he would “allow” for harsh commanders above him to meet unfortunate circumstances but is careful not to regularly repeat this act for fear of reprisal.

In total, Osam has proven himself regularly to be brutal and opportunistic, taking what he desires through unconventional means.

During a standard and relatively unimportant battle, Osam, then a Drone Major, was able to make the acquaintance of a powerful Zealot by the name of Hraelga Nacht. Providing somewhat reluctant assistance to Nacht during the battle - he had not tasted the flesh of his greater kindred in some time and was slavering for some - the Zealot apparently recognized that he possessed talents beyond his current station.

The Sraelvun tribe to which Osam belonged periodically secreted away captives on worlds that they had conquered, using them in bloodsport competitions while their more civilized brethren held celebrations and feasts. During one such hunt, Osam was once again approached by Nacht who provided him with the opportunity to grow beyond his current station. He was gifted with the Zealot's own Kukri which has since become a prized possession and offered the prospect of greater training. Osam, ambitious and sensing the possibility of advancement, accepted this offer wholeheartedly.

During a later gathering of the Ish'makra - the ruling council of the Bryn'adul - Nacht stepped forward and presented Osam to them as a higher specimen than his Sraelvun kindred. Forced into the spotlight for the first time in his life, Osam promptly accepted this evidence, and was directed by Primarch Drek'ma to fight three of his lesser kindred in a bloody conflict in order to prove his genetic superiority. The fight lasted several minutes, and he sustained damage but was able not only to best his foes but also to engage in a ceremonially cannibalistic feast upon them in the midst of the Ish'makra signaling both divorce from his old inferiors and continued adherence to a way of existence that he had been part of for many years.

Given the name Risen-Sraelvun to distinguish them both from their kindred and to highlight their origin, Osam became the First of many of his new race of people. Subsequently, he gradually began to accrue both authority and respect among his people, gaining a friendship with Galak, and mingling with other well-known and prominent figures of Draelvasier society.

Still - frequent uprisings and problems arose among the Risen-Sraelvun in the years to follow, and Osam gradually began to hold more and more sway and responsibility over his people. Those that had risen up in blatant rebellion of the tenants were executed, but he worked to incorporate others into positions where they could do the most good, especially in the leadership of Sraelvun Drones with which they possessed an empathy that could not be matched by Baedurin or Aeravalin commanders.

This continued struggle to demonstrate the worth not only of himself but of his people gradually weighed down on Osam. More and more he would strive to attain glory for himself in the hope that it would help highlight the wisdom of the Titan's decision, throwing himself into more dangerous and severe situations, and occasionally even lashing out against authority-figures such as his attempted seize of control from General Keldothera during the first battle of Nar Kreeta.

Were it not for the Battle of Sarka, this state of affairs might have continued indefinitely. At Sarka, Osam broke.
