Mission DIRE HOUR [NJO Rescue at The Empire Held Dorin]

q0I9Dgt.png

The Empire held Dorin
Blacksite Barbarous

Nestled in the cover of a valley and safely away from any major settlements, Blacksite Barbarous operated discretely. A facility used for the interrogation of captured Sith and other opposing forces, Barbarous was once under suspicion from the native government of Dorin for unauthorized operations. The Empire had swiftly quelled the arisen conflict, and Barbarous was left to operate in relative peace.

Following the invasion of Ilum, Blacksite Barbarous became home to prisoners of the Galactic Alliance. One such detainee was a young Jedi by the name of Nida Perl, a mild mannered healer with a noxious past of collaboration with the Sith as a Child of the Dark Lord. Before joining the Galactic Alliance, Nida served a sentence in
Sunspot prison. Part of her probation deal included the administration of a subdermal tracking implant.

Though difficult to get a signal out, a passing ship picked up the ping and Nida's location was related to Yula Perl on Coruscant. A task force of roughly a dozen skilled Jedi and their allies has landed on Dorin and is currently striking at Blacksite Barbarous.

--

PRIOR TO LANDING

Ideally, the plan was to be covert. Select a few individuals with complementary skillsets, steal into the facility, grab Nida, then sneak back out. Unfortunately, the NJO didn't know exactly what they were dealing with. A heavily guarded military compound? An underground complex? A waystation in the middle of nowhere? Caution had been advised in terms of a wider task force; a group that would serve as distractive muscle, and a smaller team performing the extraction.

The shuttle carrying twenty or so Jedi had managed to evade Imperial scanners for now, thanks to an illegally modified sensor baffler and distortion emitter. Yula's attention had bounced back and forth between the window—the planet's surface was covered in a thick layer of fog—and the palm-size datapad in her hand. A single pale blue dot blinked on the display, unmoving. Nida's last location ping. It had been nearly a week since the signal had been received, and Yula had rushed to rouse an appropriate rescue force. Even for a completely voluntary operation, she'd been surprised and heartened at the amount of Alliance Jedi who'd answered the call. They weren't the only ones here—a handful of Jedi adjacent folk from her Outer Rim days had joined to lend a hand.

"Bastards better not have moved her," Yula muttered at the screen.

As the shuttle descended to Dorin's rocky surface, Yula stood. The Zeltron, eldest of the Perl children, had never been considered as a Jedi. She was a criminal, a shadowrunner, a rogue. Now, she stood at the precipce of a rescue mission with more than a handful of capable Jedi.

"We're here." She cleared her throat, voice rumbling through the recirculated air of the cabin. "Based on the topography maps, whatever facility we're dealing with is located in a valley. The surrounding hills will give us enough cover to figure out what we're dealing with. Once we're in, myself, Kyra, Thirdas and Aaran will find and extract Nida. We'll need everyone here to fight our way to her. Commlinks have been set to the same channel; use them to communicate with eachother."

"Thank you, really. You've all come here on your own accord and put your lives on the line for my sister."
Her eyes shifted to Kyra. "Our sister." Then Thirdas. A brief sweep of the faces gathered saw a mix of old and new—Caltin, Valery, Veino, and Aaran to name only and a few—and those she'd been unfamiliar with. Maybe they knew Nida, or maybe they'd felt the call to aid one of their own. Whatever their reason, Yula was grateful. Exhaling sharply, her sobered features gained more vibrancy by way of an encouraging smile. "I won't forget this."

DORIN SURFACE – ENGAGING BLACKSITE BARBAROUS
Spider Armor

So far, they'd managed to blow a hole in the wall.

After gathering the necessary intel from their vantage point in the hills, The Jedi and their allies had descended onto the valley like hellions. Their elegant solution had culminated into cratering a small passage in the duracrete, giving them access to the greater facility. The Imperials had reacted sharply, laying down a hail of blaster fire and no doubt gathering immediate reinforcements. Yula's mind ran wild with all sorts of torture her sister was being subjected to inside the imposing walls, but she kept her head steady.

The moment her blade passed through the neck of a stormtrooper, she felt the tug of something familiar. Something etheral. A brief glance shared direction of Kyra and Thirdas would confirm it; Nida was present and alive.

The trooper's limp body collapsed against her, and she shrugged the corpse off before pressing forward. "Find a way to take out their comms." Normally she'd take point on scrambling communications, but today her goal was different. "I saw a receiver tower on the roof; hit that."

Lines of heavy plasma pelted the ground in front of her, causing Yula to sway in her advance before leaping back.

"And someone take care of those fething turrets!" She snarled, glaring proverbial daggers at the wall mounted guns.

All things considered, her treatment could have been far, far worse.

Nida had been put under the jurisdiction of Tulan Kor, a familiar face from her time with the Silver Jedi, and then again from her time with the Sith. He'd always looked out for her, even after she'd left him with disfiguring facial scars when they'd found themselves on opposite ends of a conflict. Never did she think that they'd cross paths again; not as enemies. Not like this. Never like this.

Her cell, though spartan, was clean. Aside from those who'd brought her meals, Tulan had been the only person to enter her room. Always to talk, but never to interrogate. After a while, and against her better judgement, Nida began to feel at ease. Tulan had promised to protect her, but she'd seen first hand how quickly the Imperials were to cut down an ally they no longer had any use or interest in; first the Sith, now the Alliance. The healer had little choice but to spend her imprisonment with a tight stomach, waiting for the other boot to come crashing down.

The blare of a dozen klaxons roused Nida from the meditative state she'd been in for the past few hours. Peeking one eye open, her heart began to pace at the sound of shouting from the hall. The detention center had been quiet and orderly since they day she'd been processed, so this type of chaos was jarring.

Jarring but hopeful. If the facility was being attacked, perhaps she could find a way to slip out.

Tulan Kor Tulan Kor | Varos Ignacious Korvan Varos Ignacious Korvan

It took every ounce of Kyra's learned control not to pace.

The tension in the room crept its way under her skin. Three years ago she would have burst with it-- been nothing but a blind conduit to the emotions around her. Now she took a deep breath in and looked away from the intense gaze of her sister.

Yeah, yeah, her posture seemed to say, as Yula laid out the plan. Neither of them were close to the jedi that surrounded them. It was ironic, really, that out of the three siblings it was Nida who remained in the order.

That probably said more about Kyra than she liked.

~~

Kyra cast a glance up at Thirdas Heavenshield Thirdas Heavenshield , molten metal melting to the ground by their feet. The heat beat against their faces, casting a familiar throwback to the time they cornered an informant on a lava mount for a reason.... much like this.

"So bossy," she deflected, stepping through the hole and shooting three turrets down with unnerving precision. She no longer carried a saber, but she moved with a fluidity that sang with the force. She was taller now. More composed. The years apart had turned her into a woman and she still didn't pass his shoulders.

What a gyp.

Jasper had never really been in a scenario like this one before. Storming an Imperial prison through a hole in their notably very impressive walls while surrounded by the fire of turrets. Just another day. In this instance, they were here to rescue a fellow Jedi, Nida Perl Nida Perl , the sister of Yula Perl Yula Perl , whom he had met back at the archives. It wasn't long before Yula was dishing out orders...

"Find a way to take out their comms." Normally she'd take point on scrambling communications, but today her goal was different. "I saw a receiver tower on the roof; hit that."

"I can do that," Jasper informed her. "Give me a few minutes and I'll have it down."

The only problem was getting up there. Turret fire, stormtroopers, and all other sorts made it no small task. Jasper could only think of onw way to the roof that would avoid the turrets; Through the building. All that would take was storming the entrance, commandeering an elevator, fighting through waves of troopers to the roof, and spending a good five minutes to take the thing off-line. Again, easier said than done. He began to pre-load bolts into the crossbow mounted to his mechanical arm.

"So... anyone wanna tag along?"

He asked this in a joking manner, but it was a serious question. There was no way he was getting through alone.

The blaring of alarms sounded and Jakkor was sent back to his youth during the Clone Wars. Whenever he had heard sirens start to blade he recognized that usually meant trouble. For the newly initiated Templar he had been tasked with aiding on some glorified guard duty. This wasn’t something the old man had in mind when exiting the academy on his first assignment. He couldn’t complain though as he found combat to be troublesome. Perhaps there was still a little Jedi left in him.

When joining the ranks of the Knights, many thought of him as an outsider the least of the Knights. Jakkor had lived many lives but was now content for some kind of purpose. When the assignment came to guard assets of the Empire he thought it was punishment, instead he would find out that it was opportunity unfolding right before him. “May the sands of the dune sea guide me.” He said to himself cloaked in white, revealing two newly crafted lightsabers with a guard around them. The silver blades ignited, and the white raider was soon sprinting into the dimly lit dark confronting his first test by facing his former brother and sister Jedi.

As he ran he could sense them scurrying all around, all with intent on saving whoever was here. Jakkor wouldn’t allow them to win, and if he could fulfill his duty perhaps he could be seen worthy. Anything to make up for his past failings as a Jedi. His fingers tightened on both his sabers providing some illumination as he sprinted down the hallways frantically searching. He would let out his own aura to them. Letting them all know he was coming for them, and would strike at the nearest Jedi he hoped to find, but in truth he hoped he could reason with them to leave even in the chance it would fail.

He would let out a guttural Tusken cry that would echo, and through the darkness he could finally see figures. He readied his blades in hopes of striking first. The old Tusken unaware of who he would be running into on the other side.

COMPNOR BLACKSITE 57
"BARBAROUS"

DUTY

Nida Perl Nida Perl

Sirens blaring, soldiers moving. Reinforcements were called. Fleets were scrambling.

The world around him moved, but Tulan stood firm. He was wearing a very light load compared to his Stormtrooper counterparts, plate carrier, a belt, and a rifle, plus some goodies. Knuckles and a knife. And Tulan was deadlier than most in pants and a T-shirt than entire suits of power armor.

He held the rifle close to his chest, adjusting the collar of his plate carrier before stopping near the door to Nida's cell. It had been a day or so since their talk, and since the Empire decided to go forward with the interrogation aspect.

He was wearing a mask, but there was no denying his eyes. Night vision flipped up, he stood in the doorway for a moment, and he didn't say anything for a moment.

"They're coming for you."

He reached down to his belt, unclipping a multitool. He held it out for her, watching her dainty pink fingers confusingly wrap around it. He wouldn't never not give Nida a chance. Sad eyes wandered over her, torn between duty, love, hate, and memories.

"Make it count."

Make her life count. Make her escape count. Make everything count.

He turned and shut the door, stopping for a second, before moving down the hallway near the breach to meet the Empire's enemies. To meet the hated foe, but just a moment, he turned to see the light from Nida's door between the door and the frame. Pushing aside, he put his faith back in his rifle, pulling back the charging handle, doing a brass check. Slugthrowers would be helpful against a Jedi- but so would the Vibroknife on his hip. Wouldn't be the first time that Tulan took on a Sith or a Jedi and won in a close-quarters fight. But he never killed a Jedi.

Grimacing, he jogged towards the comms array, knowing for sure that would be a vital part of their defense. If he was conducting a rapid raid, cutting off the enemy's ability to call for help and accurately give out information was paramount.

TEN MINUTES PRIOR TO RESCUE TEAM ARRIVAL

"You're saying that our newest Jedi prisoner was also a Sith collaborator at one point?" asked FN-999.

"According to the ISB, yes." replied Blacksite Barbarous' warden.

The pair stood in a command center near the core of the facility, a variety of aides scurrying about around them. The previous day, the Baron had been assigned along with a large detachment of the 908th Legion to the planet Dorin, ostensibly on garrison duty. However, as soon as FN-999 had been given his mission log on securely encrypted transmissions, he had learned the mission's true purpose.

There was a top-security prison hidden deep in the planet's wilderness, unknown even to its own governor. Contained within this prison were some of the most valuable prisoners-of-war in Imperial custody, including Jedi and diplomats from various hostile nations. Recognizing the prestige of the Reborn Legion, the prison warden had requested for them during their changing of guard. A detachment of the 908th had landed on the planetary capital and promptly scattered, promising to patrol the countryside but in reality converging on the coordinates of Blacksite Barbarous.

"We haven't extracted anything good out of her yet, but we've got plenty of time." continued the warden.

"Unless her friends use their power to track her." responded FN-999.

"This far in Imperial space?" scoffed the warden. "In a location this secure? Impossible."

"Trust me, nothing's impossible where Force wielders are concerned." replied the Baron. "I've been in service for over twenty years. I've seen Jedi and Sith alike bend time and space itself without breaking a sweat."

As far as FN-999 was aware, it was all true. He had always been unnerved by the terrifying powers of Force users, even his own allies. Something about them seemed inhuman, an abandonment of sentience and common sense. He had always found it safest to overestimate the power of Force users rather than to be caught exposed and face a cruel and unusual punishment unlike any other.

"If a rescue force tried to breach our space, I'm sure the governor would give us plenty of w-"

An explosion shook the base, freezing both commanders in their tracks.

Seconds later, a transmission came in.

[The outer wall's been breached! Hostiles advancing, unknown number, Jedi in the mix.]

It was exactly what the Baron had feared.

"Lock down the base." ordered the warden. "Reinforce the cell quarters and establish a new perimeter."

"Yes, sir!" replied FN-999 and several nearby aides at the same time.

[[908th Legion, this is FN-999. All units, man your posts and seal the breach. Secure chokepoints and protect vital equipment. Priority goes to heavies and pyros for anti-Jedi ops.]]

As soon as he had finished transmitting his order, the Baron bolted out of the room, joining several other fully armed and armored stormtroopers in an elevator before they all descended downwards. Within a minute, they had arrived at the ground floor, alarms blaring all around them. Stormtroopers swarmed the halls, rushing towards the breach and cell blocks. FN-999 chose the cell blocks, joining a squad of Reborns as they sped by.

No prisoner would be freed under his watch.

Closer to the breach, the 908th's specialist units assembled.

The Alliance forces deepest within the breach would find themselves face-to-face with fifty flametroopers of the 14th Flametrooper Battalion, skilled pyromaniacs who had distinguished themselves on Illum. Marked by their distinctive heat-resistant armor, the group let loose a barrage of pressurized flame at the intruders, hoping to strike the Jedi with an assault they could not reflect.

The defenders elsewhere would be reinforced by a platoon of heavy troopers, who set up emplacements with trained efficiency. Soon, the hail of machine gun fire joined the wall-mounted turrets and blaster fire, unleashing a veritable hail of death upon those unfortunate enough to attack the Blacksite.

The heavy footfalls of Varos’ boots rapped with a constant pace as he emerged from his shuttle at the blacksite’s landing pad, rows of COMPNOR security troopers flanking the walkway on either side as he touched the base’s durasteel floor paneling. Without breaking stride, the Knight Templar proceeded onward into the blacksite; unwilling to waste even a moment longer than he needed. His sable black armor almost faded into the fog shrouding the facility. Upon entry, Varos would appraised the security officer from behind his helmet’s visor. “My lord, this is a COMPNOR blacksite, you can’t simply walk in here like your--”

“I can’t?” Varos interrupted. His tone did not carry any threat or anger, unlike the former Sith who had exerted almost total control over the late Empire. Rather, it was the absence of malice in his voice that made it the most unsettling. It was quiet, even as it was filtered and amplified slightly through the helmet’s vocal emitters. Quiet, and soft... carrying... incredulity? Perhaps... an invitation to challenge the inquisitor further? Whatever the case, the security officer balked at the simple question, which afforded the Knight a moment further. “The orders mandating my presence here supercede your orders to keep me out, Sergeant. Unless you wish to press your claim through violence, you will let me through.”

A sense of authority began to bleed through the inquisitor’s tone, and after a brief pause, the firmness in the Sergeant’s stance would give way as the checkpoint barrier would open to allow the inquisitor to proceed through. Hardly a moment further would pass until the entire base rumbled, with security alarms blaring almost immediately after. Blast doors began to seal off the entrance he had just taken, and troopers began spilling out of side passages and marching deeper into the installation. Varos stopped an officer who was walking by. “what is going on?”

“Some sort of an incursion sir! The blacksite has been breached.”

“I see...” Varos replied. ‘I’m running out of time...’

Just as the thought streaked across his mind, he rushed through the corridors himself; pushing past marching personnel frantically deploying to engage the incursion team. He would round the corner to the holding cell block just as another person exited ( Tulan Kor Tulan Kor ), and slowly walk up to the holding cell his quarry would be kept in. He keyed in his security code clearance, which immediately caused the door to snap open... only to reveal the squatting form of Nida Perl Nida Perl trying to pick the lock.

After a brief pause, a bemused smile would line Varos’ masked features. “Charming...”

The word hardly escaped his mouth when his hand raised, a pulse within the force emanating from his palm as he made to push Nida clear across the room and pin her against the far wall. “It is rude to leave before we get started properly...”

The empire should really purchase better security...

Aschwin thought to himself as two times now the empire had been breached by intruders. Rushing down the hallway as the alarms blared and the rush of Stormtroopers moved through the once empty halls. He reached out with the force as his personalized curved lightsaber was called into his a waiting hand and a single press of the button ignited it as the silver blade was known. He could sense someone ahead of himself in the form of Jakkor Kess Jakkor Kess and moved to support him on the battlefield if he could.

The enemy strength was currently unknown at this time but since they had managed to breach into such a security facility unnerved him somewhat. The hard sound of boots moving towards his direction in the form of 293rd Heavy Shock Infantry underneath his direct command. Saluting them for the time being instead of engaging in direct conversation due to the dire situation they were in.

He saw the light from the Tusken's Lightsabers and was behind him.

"I am here to support; Knight Kess"

Aschwin said as his own curved blade was moved in front of himself into traditional makashi stance.

Aboard the infiltration shuttle, Valery remained mostly quiet while she stood beside Aldric Laurent, a senior agent of the SIA she had recently talked into rejoining the organization. The two had gotten very close quickly, and now they were once again working together as well. Back in the day, when she was a Jedi Shadow, they made quite a solid team but now, she felt their connection was so much stronger.

Together they'd be quite a team to help in this operation.

Looking over at Yula Perl Yula Perl , a close friend of hers, she could see that this situation wasn't easy. But with so many Jedi and allies gathered to help with the rescue, she still managed a smile. It showed the strength the Perl had within herself, and Valery knew that determination wouldn't fail her today.

...

"We'll head for the comms tower on the roof," Valery told Aldric after the wall was breached, and Alliance forces began to split up to hit various objectives. She drew her two violet lightsabers and provided him and herself with cover against incoming fire while they moved through more open terrain, allowing them to get closer to the building more quickly.

"I can get us up there, but I'll need you to scramble it!" She then called out over the sound of the battle that had erupted. There were still plenty of stormtroopers left between them and their target, and perhaps even more vicious enemies, but she felt they could take on the Galaxy together. "Ready to move?" she asked after she settled behind some cover for a moment to glance around the area for a good path through the chaos.

Thoughts of Ilum filled his mind. When he'd delivered Nida Perl Nida Perl to Saul Vandron Saul Vandron and the Imperials he'd known that others would come for her. Nothing was said nor spoken aloud but Sarad knew. The Force told him, the Jedi often went on about the force being their ally so imagine their surprise if they discovered that they weren't the only ones.

On Dorin, at Blacksite Barbarous Sarad had bartered his services for access wagering that he would encounter one of a dozen Force-Users there. In the end, when the time was right he also knew that only one of them was to be his adversary. It was strange, the Force lead him places and he followed, it picked and chose for him in most instances. One could contend that it was actually Sarad who chose his opponents but they would never be able to explain how he seemed to simply appear at the right place, at the right time to interpose himself in their paths.

People whom he had never met would find him apparating before them with no explanation. Just a name that was given, it was always the same.

As the explosions rocked an exterior wall to the facility and turret fire began to pelt the grounds Sarad heard the alarms going off all around him. Troopers were rushing in all directions ensuring that prisoners were secured. No one knew exactly what was happening----but he did. Almost as though he were keeping time Sarad, who had been sitting off to the side in a 'Processing Area' that lead deeper into the Blacksite would have remarked...

"Right on time."

...before shifting where he sat, straightening his posture though never actually deigning to leave the area itself. Anyone who saw him, if they didn't look for restraints might have mistaken him for another prisoner that had recently arrived. The Duster overtop of his armor made him appear like he might have been a Drifter, a Smuggler or some other lowborn but the force ensured his presence was relevant.

Nonetheless as calls to defend the Prison went out and the Stormtroopers rallied Sarad couldn't help but feel an unnatural calm descend over him. Letting his senses extend beyond where he sat he could 'feel' them all, all the different presences, the different people who were attuned to the force and apart of it in some way or another.

Only a single question remained for him, would the battle come to him or would he need to find it....

will describe Gear below and add links soon)
Current Objective: Destroy Comms Tower
Imperial Prisons. A prison break. Dominik had killed a lot of people in a lot of places. Hell, he had assassinated a target in the Coruscant Museum before. When he had last fought his way into a prison it was to kill a certain prisoner before he talked. Only had to worry about getting himself out. But now things had changed. Over fifteen years, things ought to change. Now he was with others, and they were rescuing their target. It made it so much harder, so many more details to figure out and pay attention too. It was a much larger headache to deal with, but it was the right thing. It made Dominik smile. And although the Empire weren't Sith, they were close enough that giving them a bloody nose excited Dominik.

Automatic and manual turrets from the prison filled the air with screams and fire. He crouched low near a few other Jedi and agents when @Yula sent a message. Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el , a Padawan and real go-getter, answered immediately and asked who was coming along. Dominik checked his MagRifle, nodded in confirmation that it was loaded, then looked to the young man.

"I got your back." He said, nodding. His dark helmet hid his genuine smile at being able to help out a Padawan. He had heard what trouble they had gotten into in Ilum and he had wanted to go off and help, but couldn't. Now he had a chance to try again. His armor would protect him from any blaster bolts and the kid could use him as a shield if he needed to. That is if he didn't use that lightsaber to do so.

Dominik had, along with the MagRifle and his armor, his Mirrorverse blaster tucked away, a few Thermal Detonators on his belt, and his alchemized sword Ebony on his back.

"Lets get inside and make our way up. Lead the way, I'll cover you."

The young Colonel had never harboured strong feelings towards Imperials. On the contrary, his one interaction with Imps was on Sev Tok, at the Battle for Anvil, when the war against the Bryn'adûl had reached its most critical moment and a mere lieutenant found himself leading the woeful defences against an overwhelming enemy. Stormtroopers were among the first reinforcements to arrive on the scene, helping to even the odds alongside Mandalorians, Jedi, and battle droids. It had been a collaborative effort that left the young officer with a brighter outlook on galactic cooperation.

Then the stupid sons of bitches had to take Nida.

The hows and whys didn't matter; he'd just gotten her back after years of being parted from one another, only for these people to take her away from him. When informed, Ranger Command immediately granted him a leave of absence, asking only that he not act under Antarian flag. As if he didn't have extensive experience in covert operations by now.

Reuniting with Kyra, someone he considered a baby sister, had served as a welcome distraction en route to their destination. In fact, it appeared that the eldest Perl sister held some sway with many, having gathered quite the crew for the retrieval op. Jedi, Alliance military... most of whom he'd never met. Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor stood out as one of the few faces he recognised, having been there when the big man brought his father back from Tython. House Heavenshield was in his debt.

In prepping for the drop, Thirdas marked his face with black and crimson stripes - a silent salute to the Bloody 88th - as he slipped into the warrior state of his ancestors. Game time.

---

Once on the ground, the Colonel remained close to both Yula and Kyra as per the plan, throwing himself at the defenders with fire and steel in equal measure. They'd forced an opening, but once inside they came under heavy fire that left little room to advance. His assault rifle returned fire, but the Imps' elevated position provided few clear shots from the ground level.

The briefest pause in his return fire was when he and the Perls all reacted to that same presence in the Force. They knew they'd come to the right place.

Up and to the right of the entrance he spotted a trio of Imps stepping out onto a catwalk to flank the intruders, prompting Thirdas to launch an underbarrel grenade at the support beams. The catwalk came apart and caused the guards to make a very uncomfortable landing, especially when upon scrambling to their feet they were met with a battle axe to the face.

Thirdas then bent over to rip the steel floor from one of the bits of the catwalk, using his cybernetic arm to punch a hole clean through the heavy metal sheet and stick his hand through, creating an improvised shield against the incessant barrage of blasters.

"Kyra, Yula! Over here!"

Stepping in front of the others, he held the makeshift shield aloft to draw enemy fire, allowing him and at least a few others to move up unmolested rather than keep being pinned down by the entrance.

ARIDIUS TK-1575 'CRIMSON'
HEAVY TROOPER

OBJECTIVE:
Defend the Blacksite
INTERACTION: OPEN - fight me please I'm new around here
m5gOdyN.png

BEFORE THE BATTLE...

What an annoying, stupid assignment. The Blacksite, was a Prison complex that required new bodies to replace the old ones. "Crimson", or Aridius, was one of these replacements to ensure that the facility remained constantly guarded by an experienced Stormtrooper Corps. Some would call this a good assignment, away from the constant blaster fire that beset the rest of the Galaxy, but for Aridius it was torture. The assignments always brought him away from the action and made him constantly think about it. As if he would have preferred to just be in a constant rotation of battle- so that his mind isn't continually relaxing, only to ignite again into bloodshed. { THWA-THWA-THWA } The sound of his Heavy Blaster constantly sounded in his mind, over and over again. He was in the mess hall right before the storm, simply sitting by his lonesome. Enjoying a cup of refreshment, with a slab of local meat and some processed carbs to power himself through the day. Then, the lights above turned red. Aridius thought it was an exercise until the stomach-dropping sound came forth..

{ ALARM-ALARM! INCOMING INCOMING INCOMING! } Which followed a loud explosion, which knocked out the alarm system. Crimson was quick to drop what he was doing, and get suited up. Storming into the Armory, he and the other Stormtroopers that were off-duty were suiting up; grabbing whatever they could, the kit went out the window. Crimson grabbed his Heavy Blaster Cannon, grenades, Vibro-knife, sidearm, and extra ammunition should he run out. "Jedi! They're attacking!" And that's when he grabbed an extra grenade too.

THE BATTLE BEGINS...

Seal the breach, that was the objective. Aridius- Crimson- took the front, right where he could see the incoming Jedi. That's when he heaved up the Heavy Blaster Cannon; pulling the trigger, feeling the subtle heat begin to warm up from the energy pack that he wore- sending energy and plasma through the massive cannon, sending the familiar sound. { THWA-THWA-THWA } down the tunnel. He didn't even see the Jedi he was firing at, but he saw those familiar Lightsabers. He was terrified of them; the last time he saw such weapons were on Dathmoir, and they turned men asunder into ash. The Stormtrooper's visor outlined the distant cannon bolts that flew from his Heavy Cannon, the visor trying to identify the targets for him.

Crimson knew that if a Jedi, or even their allies got close, he was done for. So when he fired, Crimson let forth hell unto the breach. Trying to hold back the tide that was assuredly to push the defenders back further into the Prison-Facility, or even worse.

He had backup coming. A core group of ex-Imperials who knew Dorin well. They would not provide information, well much anyway because obviously things change but they would be able to cause problems that the main group probably would not even think of. They would do their job and enable the rest to do theirs.

Caltin said nothing as Yula Perl Yula Perl was explaining who would be doing what and giving her thanks. He simply walked by Thirdas Heavenshield Thirdas Heavenshield and slipped the extra comm-link to him mouthing the word “Apostles.” If the Colonel wanted to, he could coordinate movements with them, if needed, they could be backed up, or vice versa. When he was done with that, the big man walked over to Jand Talo Jand Talo who looked to be sitting on his own but around other Padawans. Time for a few words of wisdom…

“Words of wisdom”? Me?

Yeah, well…

Trust your training, trust your instincts, trust me, more importantly trust yourself. You would not be here if you were not ready.

The words were simple and straightforward, Jand was Nagai and his people were all but “warrior born”, it was their way of life. Everyone could use some encouragement every now and then though, which is why the big man directed the observation to his Padawan but spoke just loud enough to not interrupt Yula, but indirectly speak to the others around Jand as well. Whether or not they take the advice is up to them but it was there. He however nodded to Talo to walk over to a corner.
There he began to go through a bit of loosening up, cracking his knuckles, stretching and deep bending his knees, cracking his neck. All to not only get loose, but to clear his mind and prepare for what was coming ahead. His breathing was slowed, his movements controlled and definitive in its strength. Vanagor has not done this since he was a Knight save the attack on the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and the attack on Tython. It felt good, especially since this was a Black Site that they were breaching and while it was possible, it was highly unlikely that there were any innocents. Continuing the motions, the massive Jedi Master bowed his head, closed his eyes and mouthed the words.

By the will of the Force, bless our efforts to provide the "Armament for Peace" and protect us if we must answer the call to arms to defend our faith, our liberty and our freedom. Teach us not to mourn those who have died in the service of the Order, but rather to gain strength from the fact that such heroes have lived. For lo, they do call us. They bid us to take our place among them, in the spirit of the Force itself! Where the brave may live forever!

One last dip and finally standing erect he took two breaths and opened his eyes. The look in the man’s eyes was as emotionless as anyone claiming to be “Jedi” could hope to be. He was almost in some kind of trance. Not really, he was just ticked off.

Really?

Oh come on, it sounded stupid.

Dorin Surface - Engaging Black Site Barbarous

"And someone take care of those fething turrets!" Turrets were trying to cut them down and Caltin just reached out into thin air and a strong electrical current slammed into the auto-turret and the big man’s reach pulled the cannon out of the wall and an open air push sent it flying. That was just one of the turrets, the others no doubt would be taken care of by those closer to them.

Once that was done, he then looked at Jand Talo Jand Talo

Let’s go take some attention away from the others.

Aldric gave his gear one last lookover as they approached the objective. He turned to Valery, and offered a lone nod, before scanning some of the other faces in the shuttle. The agent couldn’t claim to be close to this mission, personally, but he didn’t need to be to help. If it was important to Val, then it was important to him. And given their opposition, he was uniquely qualified. This was exactly the kind of thing that made him rejoin in the first place…

The extraction was quick to devolve into chaos. They had no sooner broken into the compound than the Imperials laid down a heavy blanket of retaliatory force. With Valery’s coverage, Aldric escaped across the kill zone, firing a few suppressing shots of his own until they reached a wall. “How you planning on doing that?” He smirked, then tapped a hardcase on his leg, which contained a few tools they’d need for the job, “Leave the comms to me.”

At her question, He pulled out a stun grenade, weighing it in his hand, “Ready when you are,” As soon as they were ready to move, he would toss out the explosive toward the squad of stormtroopers in their way, and follow her lead.

Shutting off his comm-link as they were loading into the Pegasus, Captain Aien Mueller “Azrael” by his codename had a look that his second “Bartleby” recognized. He just finished talking to a Jedi he had known and respected for a long time, that was not the problem. Was there a problem?

We good?

Yeah, we have reign to do what we need to do.

That is?

Whatever.

So, what’s the problem?

Didn’t think I would be this uncomfortable hitting “home”, you know? I mean Dorin was my first-ever post.

Yeah, but you said it yourself when we left. The Empire stopped being “home” for us when we found out what they’re truly capable of. All of those files I found, all of those “projects”? Are we with the right people, or is this a “second thought” kind of thing?

Then “Sauriel”, one of the team’s snipers who had already stowed his gear walked over to them, noticing the uncomfortable conversation.

I don’t know about you guys, but the thought of hitting “home” bothered me until I found out what it is we’re hitting. My dad was taken to a site like this and he was never the same. We’re doing this, right?

The normally “brutal” sounding Sniper seemed to put everything in perspective. This was no longer their “home” and though they were not officially (yet) members of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force, they were here to help out a Jedi that they respected and rescue another Jedi. That was all that mattered. They may not be here to do it directly, but they were going to do what they do best. It seemed to do wonders for the team leader too.

Get everyone ready. I need to talk to Jeremiel.

The conversation with the “Pegasus” pilot was short and sweet. They were going to drop the team on the ground as normal, but then were going to fly low altitude cover. What that means is (as it is normally “high altitude cover”) that the combat shuttle would remain low but be there for quick “exfil” as normal, but also act as a “signal repeater” and enable the team’s AI assistant “SERAPHIM” do “his” thing. “The Annunaki” was also going to remain in the area as well in case things go south. This was not a normal thing, but if there needs to be a mass exodus a Heavy Corvette that can land is a good thing.

Dorin Surface - Black Site Barbarous

Let’s move.

The team landed about eight miles out so as to keep below any serious sensor range and was driving in “low and slow” to blend in as best as possible with ground clutter. There was absolutely no chatter among them as per the normal. Once the drop off occurred and “The Reek” was positioned where it (hopefully) would not be detected, they moved through some of the sparse Flora (lucky for them), more Kand than Zand to blend in as well. There were several Bulbous nearby but the beasts largely ignored them as they were more concerned about the Eerm that seemed to be interested in them (the Bulbous). They did not completely need them, but the rebreathers in their masks were working perfectly and showed minimal thermal imagery.

The Black Site was getting larger and larger on the Horizon until there was a time when they all knew what was coming.

[Sir, I am detecting relative to your location that the black site has three sniper towers in view of your team.]

SERAPHIM cannot use foreign technology, what the AI can do is use the positioning beacons of each team member, as well as “The Reek”, “The Annunaki” and “The Pegasus” to all act as triangulation scanners. It was not perfect and there were better methods to get this done, but it served the team well as it was “real time” and they were also able to remain hidden.

[Acknowledged] I don’t like sniper towers.

The entire team heard SERAPHIM, so they knew what was coming.

You heard the man.

It did not take long for the two snipers to set up, and the rest of the team to set up a perimeter.

In position.

In position.

Chamuel, Uriel, cover. The rest. Let’s move.

Castiel take point. I’m dragging.

What else is new, fatty.

I’m gonna beat you.

They were moving efficiently, but almost walked right into a patrol that did not know that they were there.

[Sir, you have a patrol nearby and judging by the energy surges they are in contact with the site at the moment. Your decision on their fate.]

[Acknowledged. Take’em.]

[One down.]

[Two down.]

[Let’s move.]

... yeah, we scare them.

"How you planning on doing that?"

"Just... trust me, okay?" She smiled innocently and figured it would be best to keep that part of the plan to herself until the last possible moment. Just in case he didn't quite like the idea of being lifted up and tossed around to great heights, with only Valery standing between a soft landing and certain death.

It was only a small detail.

"I'm ready!" she called out and within a split-second of the stun grenade being thrown, Valery was on the move to blitz between staggered enemies at speeds they could barely track if they hadn't been stunned. One by one, they either fell or were knocked around into unconsciousness but the path wasn't entirely cleared quite yet. Right as Valery tried to push towards the wall, a powerful repeating blaster opened up, and Valery was forced into a series of defensive deflections. "Aldric!" she called out, hoping he had an angle on the shooter.

More stormtroopers moved in on them as well, pressuring the Jedi who stood out with her two violet blades. She was holding her own and taking them out slowly, but the heavier repeating weapon was far away and made it impossible to even think about trying to get up to the roof.

"Lets get inside and make our way up. Lead the way, I'll cover you."

"Alright," Jasper nodded. He scooped up a backpack he had pre-prepared for the raid and drew his lightsaber. "Then lets not waste any time."

An SIA agent would be joining him. They were a mixed bag, but this man seemed rather trustworthy for some reason. That and he was the first to step up to cover him, so it was sort of what he had to work with. Jasper took a breath to calm his nerves before rushing through the gap in the wall, signaling for the armored agent to follow. His skill with a blade did a fairly good job at keeping blaster fire at bay, taking out a few stormtroopers with the crossbow mounted to his arm.

"So, here's the plan," the padawan began as they pushed towards the entrance of the facility. "I could mess with the tower in a more mechanical way, but I've thought about it and the time is too much of a risk. Thankfully, I've got a better solution."

Jasper reached back, opening the backpack he had snatched up to let Dominik see what was within. He would, if only ever so slightly, see a handful of silver orbs.

"Grabbed a bunch of thermal detonators before we loaded up," Jasper informed him with a grin. "W-with the permission of the GADF, obviously," This was a lie, but he hoped the agent wouldn't mind. "Screw slicing. We're blowing this tower into next week."

They failed last time.

When they found Nida, she'd already been captured, taken away. Nothing to be done about it, at the time. No one to truly be at blame. There were so many that needed help, spread so thin after a surprise.

Yeah none of that really made Iris feel any better. They didn't save Nida. Now they could. Now they were here. She rushed down into the hallway after carving her way in, glancing around. Frowned. For now she was alone. Sneaking her way through as the others waged full on battle. Just had to work her way towards wherever Nida was being held. .. And figuring out where that was.

She sighed as she slipped around a corner, watching some stormtroopers rush by.

Easier said than done.
