  • Planet Name: Amaltanna
  • Demonym: Amaltannan (For Human residents on world)
  • Region: Outer Rim Territories
  • System Name: Amaltanna System, located in the Kanz Sector
  • System Features:
    • Three Suns - Historically, none of the stars in the system had been named by inhabitants of the system as they had either been too few or some galactic event had precipitated the settlers to leave the system. However, in recent decades, the presence of the Order of Arcane Syn and their clients within the system have resulted in a deeply entrenched settling and stars being named for the first time. Each star has been named after three ancient Sith:
      • Taalon - Yellow-white F Main Sequence Star
      • Olaris - White-blue B Main Sequence Star
      • Vestara - Yellow G Main Sequence Star
    • One Moon - Historically, the moon of Amaltanna had gone unnamed as it had not attracted attention from the previous colonies or regional powers within the region. However, in the modern era, the moon has been co-opted by Spaarti Creations and the Order of Arcane Syn for their own purposes and was designated as Misic.
      • Misic - A moon of mainly glaciers and snow, it has been able to maintain a Type I atmosphere, although external temperatures are severe enough that one needs cold-protection equipment to venture out onto the surface.
    • Orbital Position - Edge of Habitable Zone
    • Rotational Period - 25 Galactic Standard Hours

Part of the Gloam Depths

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Standard
  • Climate:
    • Historic - For much of its history, Amaltanna was an arid world of broken crags and mountains with the occasional snow or thunderstorms to temporarily alleviate the dryness.
    • Present - After terraforming advancements by Spaarti Creations, Aurora Industries, and the Order of Arcane Syn, large portions of the planet have been modified and rehabilitated to a more temperate climate with the remaining arid sections largely in the southern hemipshere of the planet.
  • Primary Terrain:
    • Historic
      • Surface - For much of its history, Amaltanna was a world covered in craggily sharp mountains and rocky wastes.
    • Present
      • Surface - After the terraforming advancements, strange mixed forests of conifers and fungal trees have spread across much of the northern hemisphere along with large stretches of wetlands in lower lying regions. Various sections of the mountain ranges on the world remain arid and craggy, but with the terraforming, tundra-like biomes have developed in the shadows of these mountains.
      • Gloam Depths - Discovered and named by the initial expeditions to the planet by the Order of Arcane Syn and Spaarti Creations, the cavern ecosystem of Amaltanna has continued to thrive as a network of underground marshes, fungal forests, and lakes that crisscrosses the entire width and breadth of the planet.
  • Atmosphere: Type I

Stencia, Capital City of Amaltanna
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City:
    • Stencia
  • Planetary Features:
    • Surface
      • Ruins of the Impregnable Fortress - What remains of the old Clone Wars-era fortress that saw a large scale battle between the ancient Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems. Much of the ruin has been disregarded during the occupation and colonization of the planet. The terraforming efforts have not spared the fortress as large portions of it have become overgrown with flora. The command center, the tomb of the Confederacy-aligned baron, remains sealed.
      • Gavony Mountains - The mountains that lie near the capital city of the planet that are covered in large coniferous forests
      • Sigrun Peaks - The tallest mountain range on Amaltanna. These mountains are more barren, with odd floating stones and crystals that have been cultivated by the Arana Sithspawn that dwell in this region.
      • Zegana Mirelands - A large wetlands with several smaller fungal forests and lakes that has developed to the south of Stencia that stretches all the way to the jungles being terraformed for the recent Epicanthix arrivals.
      • Ula Jungles - A portion of the planet that was recently terraformed through conventional and unconventional means to recreate the jungle of Panatha for recent Epicanthix arrivals that have been operating the New Canthar Research Complex.
      • The Maladi Wastes - The swath of the planet that retains the original arid and craggy terrain of the planet.
      • Dreamroot Weald - A dream-like fungal forest that dominates a large chunk of the northeastern regions. There are several natural entrances to the Gloam Depths in this region that has helped contribute to the fungal trees here and the strange bioluminescent growths there.
      • Lignan Crystalfields - Located in the southwestern part of the hemisphere, the Lignan Crystalfields are a large stretch of oddly varying terrain that has seen a significant growth in Force crystals and other gemstones.
      • Maelstrom Tundra - A tundra located in the far north of the planet that is constantly bombarded by thunderstorms, ostensibly an accidental creation of the terraforming done to the world, but in reality, the storms are generated by the Vess Complex to better obscure and protect the Order of Arcane Syn research complex.
    • Gloam Depths
      • Mazirek Caverns - The caverns that surround the city of Golgarith that are home to both lavish estates for the matriarchs and monuments to their achievements.
      • Hollowcap Forest - A large fungal forest that spans much of the southern hemisphere's Gloam Depths that is largely still untouched by the sentient denizens of the planet.
      • Ketria Cascade - A massive underground waterfall that flows down and through the tiered city of Korozda.
      • Zagoth Marshes - A stretch of marshes that dominate several connected caverns that lie beneath the Dreamroot Weald.
      • Deechi Fungalreach - The fungal forest that lies around the Arygorge Bastion that has been terraformed, at the request of the Umbarans, into a replica of the weird environment of their homeworld.
  • Major Locations:
    • Surface
      • Stencia - The largest city on Amaltanna, located near the Gavony Mountains, the Serenno-Thule styled city of spires and domes also acts as the capital city for the planet, containing the Authority Chambers. Much of the city remains heavily involved in the genetic and bioengineering industries and supporting sectors and is also site of the larger of the planet's two commercial spaceports. Part of the city has been constructed underground to allow for easier contact with the surface dwellers and the denizens of the Gloam Depths.
      • Mavren - A city surrounded by idyllic lakes and mountain views, and while not the largest, it does maintain a significant amount of wealth due to the towers and fortress-like cathedrals that act as the vaults of the Ayitatsa Arana present on the world and their syndicates. The planet's second commercial spaceport is located here, constructed on a lake island that gives any arrivals a chance to see the expansive estates of the wealthy executives and sentient Sithspawn.
      • Helvall - Located on the tallest mountain within the Sigrun Peaks, Helvall was originally a mere gathering place for the various Kraujas Arana clans on the planet but has grown in the intervening years into a fortress-city that governs the angelic monsters with the High Matriarch and her council located there. The citadel at the peak of the mountain, only accessible from the air, is the sight of the yearly competitions between the clans and main location captured Force Sensitives or aspirants are subjected to the Changing Ceremony.
      • Nephal - Located at the base of the mountain where Helvall is located, the town is dominated by Echani and other hopefuls that are seeking to serve or become a member of the Arana species.
      • New Canthar Research Complex - A towering research facility built within the Ula Jungles, specifically designed by Epicanthix settlers on the planet that are loyal to their Dark Lord Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex . The facility is built with classic Epicanthix themes, while maintaining a foreboding presence between his servants and the research they conduct there.
      • Vess Complex - The main research and alchemical laboratory for the Order of Arcane Syn on the planet. The facility, in partnership with the Vannifar complex on the moon, are responsible for the continuing creation and population of sentient Sithspawn species on the planet. The facility in recent years has also been conducting research into ethereal matters at the behest of their dark mistress.
    • Gloam Depths
      • Golgarith - The largest cavern city located in the Gloam Depths and dominated by the Tzihra Satwas Matriarchs that rule much of the cavern system of Amaltanna. The city acts as a neutral ground for the various matriarchs in settling disputes between the fiefdoms. The city has a more unique architecture, inspired by the serpentine matriarchs, that combines some of the Thule influences from above with the fungal and cavern structures that surround the Tzihra Satwas. The city also has connection to the surface through various turbolifts.
      • Korozda - A tiered city that follows the flow and drops of the largest waterfall in the Gloam Depths that also contains several hydroelectric power plants that provide energy to most settlements in the Gloam Depths. The Vahla on world maintain a strong presence here as a cathedral to their god and their Sith-aligned leaders and saviors is located here.
      • Arygorge Bastion - A city established by Umbaran settlers in the eastern part of the charted Gloam Depths and chosen for its defensible location. Much of the city is done in the style of their homeworld and has even become a center for development of the weird and exotic technologies their species is known for.
    • Misic
      • Vannifar Research Complex - The sprawling campus built within and under the glaciers of Misic, the complex is the main facility for Spaarti Creations within the system. A large number of cloning facilities and bio-labs are scattered across the ice sheet and are connected by a high-speed monorail transit system with a central hub located at the facility's spaceport.

      • Ardasa Arana
      • Ayitatsa Arana
      • Tzihra Satwas
      • Subsumed
      • Tsitira Itban
  • Primary Languages:
    • Galactic Basic
    • Sith Language
  • Culture:
    • Barony of Amaltanna
      • The population that falls underneath the Barony of Amaltanna lead a lifestyle mixed between that of those citizens under the Sith Order and those that live within the Core Worlds and Colonies region. The growth in the population has meant the original regimen of the daily lives revolving around the work of the Order of Arcane Syn and Spaarti Creations had been mitigated to those that work directly for and are members of these organizations. A premium is still placed on academic pursuits, as only befitting a world under the influence of the Lady of Secrets, but some sports such as swoop racing and entertainment have begun to emerge on the world.
    • Ossific Confederation
      • Within the Gloam Depths, the Tzihra Satwas have developed their own culture to match that of those who dwell on the surface. The matriarchs of each fiefdom dominate and set the expectations of those that live under them and have created a society obsessed with obtaining luxuries and the accruement of status. For the Satwas, status is everything, and everyone has a place in the social hierarchy and only those with ambition and skill can climb that ladder. Art and blood sports are highly prized by the matriarchs for their entertainment value and to demonstrate wealth as having a large statue garden of victims and skilled gladiators can take one far.
    • Blood Matriarchy
      • Formed into a matriarchal society, the Arana and the servants that form the Blood Matriarchy are as obsessed with martial prowess and strategic ability as their Echani progenitors. One can only climb the ranks of the matriarchy through skill of arms and testing themselves in battle against others, and much of their art and structures reflect this idea. Towering aeries and combat spaces are typical architecture found in the mountains and valleys they control, and sport has been relegated into the yearly tests for those that wish for ascension to the Arana. Begrudgingly, these yearly competitions are broadcast to the Barony's citizens as entertainment and draw large crowds.
    • Avidity Syndicates
      • The Ayitatsa Arana that form the syndicates have formed a quasi-culture of their own within the Barony, revolving around the wealth and deals they partake in. Much of the high culture of the Barony, such as various entertainment venues and artisans, have a patron from among the syndicates that finance them. In this way, a similar form of competition as their bloody cousins exists as the Arana try to outdo one another with the successes of their supplicants, and it is not uncommon for these competitions between artists and entertainers to turn bloody in secret.

GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government:
    • Federalized Corporate Magocracy
      • Amaltanna Authority - The overarching governing body for the planet and its star system that evolved from the original oversight board established by Spaarti Creations and the Order of Arcane Syn. The Authority acts as a federalized system where the leader of the Order of Arcane Syn acts as head of state of the planet, or their designated representative, while an advisory council formed from representatives from the regional governments, Spaarti Creations executives, and Arcane Syn Adepts oversee the day-to-day operations of the planet. The current regional governments consist of:
        • The Barony of Amaltanna - The regional state that controls most of the surface of Amaltanna, the revived barony is based in the planet's capital city of Stencia.
        • The Ossific Confederation - The regional state that was formed by the strongest and largest fiefdoms of the Tzihra Satwas matriarchs in the Gloam Depths. The capital of the confederation remains Golgarith.
        • The Avidity Syndicates - While it does not control territory per se, the loose alliance of syndicates formed by the Ayitatsa Arana within the system have gained enough financial power and influence to gain a seat on the Authority's ruling council. The largest vault for the syndicates is located in Mavren.
        • The Blood Matriarchy - The regional state formed by the Kraujas Arana that control and guard the various mountain ranges on the planet. The capital of the matriarchy remains at Helvall.
        • The Subsumed Tribes - While they have not formed a governing body that could represent them in totality, the Subsumed rakghouls have carved out a large nomadic territory in the southern hemisphere of the planet within areas not claimed by the Barony such as the Maladi Wastes.
  • Affiliation:
    • While the planet is technically within neutral space at present, the planet is mainly affiliated with the Order of Arcane Syn and Spaarti Creations due to their significant control and influence over the planet. This also means the planet has a close affiliation with the Sith Order through Darth Arcanix's role within their government and the Kainite through the close alliance between Arcanix and Darth Carnifex.
  • Wealth:
    • Wealthy - While the planet does not boast a large trade economy, it has begun making inroads with other planets in the Kanz Sector in establishing trade relations. The majority of the planet's wealth is based on the bleeding edge bioengineering and genetics industries located on the planet and its moon, while the resources of several megacorporations, organizations, and individuals can finance many projects and programs on world. The continuing architectural and sculpting industries of the Ossific matriarchs has also brought in a wealth of credits for the planet as there many collectors that do not care or ask where such unique and lifelike art appears from.
  • Stability:
    • High - Due to the controlling nature of the various organizations and governing bodies on the planet, stability on Amaltanna is quite strong. However, that does not mean the planet is always safe. The nature of many of the species on the planet, along with the dangers introduced into the environment, make it a hazardous world to traverse alone.
  • Freedom & Oppression:
    • All sentient beings within the system have the same rights as any citizen that lived under the laws and codes of the Tenth Sith Empire as Darth Arcanix and the established authorities saw little reason to modify those codes. However, ethical and moral limitations are shaped by the guidelines established by Darth Arcanix on experimentation and general idea that evolution and progress require any necessary sacrifices.

New Canthar Research Complex

MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY - TO BE UPDATED STILL
  • Military:
    • Historic - Throughout much of the history of the planet, as it was unsettled or only played host to small colonies, the system did not have much in the way of military forces. During the ancient Clone Wars, the planet was occupied by an army of droids that was wiped out in a vicious battle. Since that time, there was not much presence on world of military forces or assets.
    • Initial Colonization (852 ABY) - While the planet is not heavily fortified, and only hosts a few divisions of Sith Legionaries to defend the colonies and the research facilities on the planet and its moon, the planet is still incredibly dangerous due to the many Sithspawn, natural predators, and experiments that call it home.
    • Modern Era (900 ABY) - In the time since the initial colonization of the planet, the military strength of Amaltanna has expanded as its population underwent a rapid growth from resettlement. The planet now has several legions worth of soldiers and guards to keep the peace and project might, along with a flotilla of starships to patrol the system. In addition to this, the various Sithspawn nations on the planet have their own strengths to call upon if needed while the forces of the Order of Arcane Syn are always nearby.
  • Technology: The planet is slightly above Galactic Standard in certain fields due to the advanced research into genetics, cloning, biology, and alchemy, and the creation of bleeding edge technologies centered on those fields. In other regards, the planet is at Galactic Standard currently.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

In the distant past, the planet of Amaltanna played a role in the resistance against the Argazdan Redoubt, supplying resistance fighters against the Kanz Sector's enslavers. Their efforts would not be successful until intervetion by the Jedi freed the sector from slavery, and it joined the Galactic Republic. During the ancient Clone Wars, the planet was occupied by Confederate forces under the leadership of Baron Eli Wedd, the ruler of Amaltanna. A fierce battle between the Republic and CIS forces left the planet barren, with only a single Jedi Knight surviving the battle to infiltrate the fortress of the Baron and sealing him within it. After that, the planet was forgotten and written off as little more than a craggy, lifeless rock in the Kanz Sector.

That changed in 852 ABY.

Darth Arcanix, the Lady of Secrets, desired to have a facility within the regions of space falling under the control of the Sith Empire even as she herself was ensconced in her role of spy among the Jedi. Lorrd, the world she had grown up on, had kept its attraction and it was the natural choice for her own secret power base within the Sith Empire while she was away, but she also did not want to overrun the world she held so dear with the experiments sure to come. And that was what brought her attention to the abandoned world of Amaltanna. Tasking her personal power base, the Order of Shadows, with constructing a base on the world, the influence she held over it slowly grew.

Now the planet is the site of a massive social and alchemical experimentation on the part of the Order of Shadows. Whole races of sentient Sithspawn have been allowed to flourish on the world, carving out territories for themselves on the surface and the caverns below. On the moon, renamed Misic, Spaarti Creations has established a large research and cloning facility on the ice plains, attracting colonization of the planet below from both citizens of the Sith Empire and their own researchers. Even in the current climate of the galaxy, the world has started to become known in certain circles for the genetics and alchemical research that occurs there.

In the roughly four decades that have followed since the original colonization, much has changed for the planet of Amaltanna. The Tenth Sith Empire collapsed, but many refugees found a welcoming home to resettle on that was just obscure enough that it did not attract the attention of the Ashlan crusaders or Imperials that had come to dominate the Tingel Arm. With the population swelling, Darth Arcanix decided to revive the Barony to oversee the operations of the planet and authorized a planet-scale terraforming project, funded through several megacorporations, to create seemingly more hospitable world. Taking native flora found within the now named Gloam Depths and importing fauna from across the galaxy to create a stable food chain, the planet began to lose the craggy appearance and became one of strange forests and wetlands across the northern hemisphere.

As the Second Great Hyperspace War raged, Amaltanna remained watchful of the conflict, but like much of the Outer Rim and Tingel Arm, it was spared any direct touch from the conflict except from the agreement between Darth Arcanix and Darth Carnifex to resettle part of the Epicanthix Diaspora on the planet, reshaping part of the forests into a recreation of the jungles of their destroyed homeworld of Panatha. The aloofness from the war and the collapse of the hostile factions that governed region meant that as the turn of the century began, Amaltanna could start making a presence in the region and further the influence of the Lady of Secrets.

Hey there, Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf !

I'll be the Codex Judge going through the review and initial approval of this submission with you. If I say something throughout this process that you have questions about or simply need further clarification on, please do not hesitate to ask me to do so.

First off, this is a great submission, but before I can pass it on for the secondary approval, there's something I'd like to draw your attention toward.

Simple housekeeping thing here, but we try to avoid using Pinterest for image credit if we don't have to. I did a quick search and was able to find another source for you HERE. If you could replace your current Image Credit Link with that one, that would be fantastic!

Please remember to tag me with any edits or changes made to this submission

Overall, this is a great submission. I like how you connect a lot of the other Codex Submissions you've made. Just one small thing...

1. Location: It's fine that it's linked to the Lorrd Wookie page, but, Location actually asks for general positioning as well. Is it above Lorrd? Below it?
Location: [ This can be a screenshot of the hex from the map with a marker, or you can say that it is located "in X planet's hex" and give a general description of positioning. If you intend to add this planet to the Chaos Map please review the rules thoroughly.]

Give me a tag when it's been adjusted and I'll get this passed through. Thank you!
