OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To codify and update the organization that forms the core of Darth Arcanix's power base in the galaxy
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links:
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: Order of Arcane Syn - Renamed from the Order of Shadows, the new name is a play upon Taeli Raaf's Sith title and one's sins, but using the name of one of her idols from the ancient Sith, Sorzus Syn.
  • Classification: Sith Organization
  • Affiliation:
  • Organization Symbol: Refer to image at the top of the submission
  • Description: The Order of Arcane Syn is an evolution of the power base established by Taeli Raaf, known as the Sith Darth Arcanix, and serves as an extension of her will throughout the galaxy. The organization generally is involved in research and experimentation in Sith alchemy and sorcery, but also acts as a shadowy power player for their Sith Lady by engaging in more clandestine operations not uncommon of many covert operation organizations. Agents have been known to be dispatched on missions ranging from infiltration and assassination to espionage and sabotage, even outright deploying forces into war theaters that are of interest to Darth Arcanix.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Valrar, although the organization is diffused into various cells around the galaxy.
  • Domain:
    • Valrar - Acting as the headquarters and the primary research facility for the organization, the entire planet is under the direct rule of the Order of Arcane Syn as the planet hosted no major population centers before they arrived, with much of the planet's jungles and mountains dotted with research facilities and the Sithspawn that have replaced the planet's native fauna.
    • Amaltanna - Before the collapse of the Tenth Sith Empire, this facility acted as the organization's headquarters in Sith space. However, it has become more of a joint ownership of the planet between the Order of Arcane Syn and Spaarti Creations. Much of the planet's surface non-Sithspawn citizens are connected to the genetics company and its operations on it and the orbiting moon, while below ground and other parts of the planet outside of the main cities, a few races of sentient Sithspawn created by Darth Arcanix and her power base have formed their own societies and pledged themselves to their creator.
    • Ziost - Before the collapse of the Tenth Sith Empire, the planet was the personal domain of the Lady of Secrets, centered around the established Sorzus Academy. Under the Lady of Secrets, the planet has become a world of Sith sorcery and magic, with the Order of Arcane Syn playing a powerful role in the administration of the world. The planet, with the collapse of the Sith Empire, has ostensibly proclaimed freedom, but still remains loyal to the Lady of Secrets and the Sorzus Academy has had additional protections added to it in recent weeks to protect it from further attack.
    • Xagobah - A Sithspawn research facility established during the first Galactic Alliance of the modern era, this facility was first used to create and test the Ravager strain of Sithspawn against an Alliance force sent to the planet to investigate the disappearance of several Sluissi. In recent years, the facility has focused its research on the various fungi and spores native to the planet and their potential applications. The facility is concealed from the natives of the planet to avoid detection from
    • Byss - While not as important to the organization as it was during the first Galactic Alliance of the modern era, the organization still retains a cloning facility on the planet for various Sithspawn species. This facility is hidden under the ruins of what had once been a reconstruction of Darth Sidious' old fortress on the world, although its location is known to a few Jedi in the galaxy, so its operational status is kept hidden from the eyes of the Byss public to avoid detection.
    • Nar Shaddaa - The facility also doubles as Aurora Industries' Leviathan Deep Project development lab, responsible for creating technologies and other creations that would most certainly not be legal anywhere except within the extralegal underworld of the Hutt moon. The facility, as the name would suggest, keeps a very low profile, but have expanded their hold on certain sections of the Undercity to provide security, specimens, and other needed infrastructure for the continued development needs and wants of the scientists and Sith within. In recent weeks, the Lady of Secrets has taken an interest in influencing some of the criminals of the moon for other operations.
    • Kessel - A research facility responsible for the creation of Creeping Lignan and various creatures that have been exposed to the substance. The facility, since the planet fell into the sphere of influence of the Bryn'adul, is under a cloaking field deep in the tunnels of the planet to avoid detection. Several operations of this facility, including samples of their creation, have been moved to other facilities in case of discovery by the monsters on the surface of the planet.
    • Upekzar - A more recently established facility within the near forgotten planet's Circle of Visions, the facility serves two purposes. The first is the continued studying and experimentation into the Shursia Virus and the specimens created from it, while the second is an even more closely guarded secret known only to the Lady of Secrets and her closest confidants. Speculation from some of the staff and Sith on world suggest it involves the study of fears, nightmares, and other visions caused by the rhak-skuri dipluras found in the tunnels of the dormant volcanoes.
    • Felucia - While the planet itself has not been and is still not under any direct influence from the organization, the Order of Arcane Syn and Spaarti Creations operate from a facility called Hojo Base that specializes in cross-species hybrids and other genetically engineered creations not born of Sith alchemy. Outside of the facility staff, Darth Arcanix has become allies of several clans of Jungle Felucians that dwell in the jungles around the base.
    • Arkania - While not hosting a facility yet, the planet has become a target for influence by the Lady of Secrets and infiltration missions have already begun. Ostensibly, due to the nature of the operation, this influence will also spread to Coruscant.
    • Carida - Originally serving as a recruiting and training ground for the Order of Shadows' Shadow Legion, and the meeting point between Darth Arcanix and a contact within the Sith Empire while she was undercover with the Jedi, with the split of the non-Force user elements of her organization into the Legion of Sorzus and Legion of Zannah, the needs of the organization and its operations on Carida have shifted. Only a certain quality and specialty of recruit is currently being looked for from the planet's various academies, while a quieter training program for the specific needs of both legions has been established in a shadow academy somewhere on the planet.
    • Pluthan Asteroids - Site of Aurora Industries' extensive and hidden shipyards, the Order of Arcane Syn also maintains a presence at the shipyards to oversee the production of starships for the organization's use.
    • Horizon Station - A facility located in deep uncharted space, Horizon Research Station was one of the first facilities established by the organization when their Master was among the Jedi of the old Galactic Republic and the first Galactic Alliance. The facility handles many sensitive and experimental projects in regards to Sith alchemy and sorcery, and due to its location, not even the vaunted spies of Darth Prazutis Darth Prazutis have been able to discover its location.
    • Jen'asha Station - obtained in during this thread - Originally a mining station built by Akure Executive Interstellar to mine resources in Otherspace, the facility's ownership passed to Darth Arcanix through a weird treasure hunt that was Rave Merrill's will. Since taking ownership, the facility has become a place for research that is even too sensitive and secretive for Horizon Station.
    • Malsheem - While the worldcraft is the domain of Darth Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex , the Order of Arcane Syn and Aurora Industries maintains a presence there due to the alliance between the Zambranos and Darth Arcanix. Much of the research performed on the worldcraft involve the continued perfection of the strand-casts created to fill the ranks of the Kainate along with continued technological advancements for the starships needed for the Shadow Armada of Kaine Zambrano.
    • Too numerous to list by themselves, but small cells of the organization can be located at most Aurora Industries and Spaarti Creations facilities.
  • Notable Assets:
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy:
    • The Lady of Secrets - The top of the organization, the Lady of Secrets known as Taeli Raaf or Darth Arcanix controls the organization. Her word and ideas are law.
    • First Daughter - Second-in-command of the organization, the role is for the Sith that is Darth Arcanix's primary apprentice.
    • Sith Paradox Adept - Sith Masters that directly serve the Lady of Secrets that act as overseers of various aspects of the organization or act as points of contacts for organizations that the Lady of Secrets has targeted for infiltration and influence. Currently subbed NPCs are:
      • Relyana Vasq - Oversees a chapter of the Mecrosa Order that have sworn service to the Lady of Secrets
      • Hyson Whita - Oversees the technological development of the Order of Arcane Syn, including research into new technobeasts and other applications of mechu-deru.
      • Soraya Sedran - Oversees infiltration missions and other espionage operations being conducted by the Order of Arcane Syn
      • Darth Kizian - Headmaster of the Sorzus Academy
    • Sith Enigma Adept - Sith Knights that make up the core of the organization's Force users and are typically the agents that a Jedi or other enemy might encounter in the field. Several specializations exist within that the Sith Knights, and the Acolytes below them, can gravitate towards such as:
      • Beastmasters
      • Sith Artificers
      • Sith Alchemists
      • Dark Consulars/Sith Sorcerers
      • Sith Blademasters
      • Sith Inquisitor
      • Sith Phantoms
    • Legion of Sorzus - Originally the Shadow Legion, this half of the force has become more specialized in biological warfare and containment, assisted by combat trained Sith sorcerers and beastmasters. Specialized roles within this portion of Darth Arcanix's forces include:
      • Blightspreaders
      • Containment Units
      • Spawn Legionaries
    • Legion of Zannah - Originally the Shadow Legion, this half of the force has become more specialized in covert operations and shock tactics. Specialized roles within this portion of Darth Arcanix's forces include:
      • Geists
      • Dragoons
      • Combat Engineers
      • TITANs
      • NEMESIS Agents
    • Raven Armada - Formed around the core fleet that has served the Lady of Secrets in the Tenth Sith Empire, the naval forces of the Sith Lady have expanded from recruiting Sith naval forces that were isolated with the fall of the Sith Empire that remained loyal. Much of the force has retreated to an unknown location (Pluthan Asteroids) to have their ships either refitted or to have them replaced with new designs created by Aurora Industries.
    • Researchers and Scientists - Non-Force users that have pledged themselves to the organization in pursuit of unhindered scientific advancement and near limitless funding.
    • Servants and Allies - Not members of the organization per se, they nonetheless have loyalty to the Lady of Secrets or have been influenced by her. Currently submitted NPCs are:
      • Ary Jaxson - Chief Project Overseer of Aurora Industries
  • Membership: Originally, the organization was composed of between several hundred to two thousand Sith adepts with tens of thousands of scientists, researchers, engineers, assassins, spies, and soldiers forming the bulk of the non-Force using membership. The numbers of the organization had grown after Operation: Eclipse brought down the first Galactic Alliance and those that had fallen joined their dark mistress. However, with the fall of the Tenth Sith Empire, the organization has been on a recruitment drive and its numbers have swelled to include many Sith searching for new purpose and forces that remain loyal to the ideals of the Sith.
    • Sith and Force Users - roughly 3,500, mostly of Knight and Acolyte strength
    • Non-Force Users - roughly 300,000, separated into a variety of fields
  • Climate: While not as cutthroat or bloodthirsty as other Sith organizations that have arisen in recent months and years, there is a competitive environment between cells and Adepts that can sometimes result in a suspicious death or two. The Lady of Secrets encourages this competitiveness as she believes it is a cornerstone to the organization's goals in progressing science, alchemy, magic, and the Sith influence in the galaxy.
  • Reputation: Before the fall of the Tenth Sith Empire, much of the organization was recognized for their role in the fall of the first Galactic Alliance as heroes of the Sith Empire, faceless though due to the secretive nature of their work and the desire of their mistress. Such accolades, while welcome, could bring unwanted attention. To others outside of the Sith Empire, they were a constantly shifting boogeyman, an extension of a Sith that had earned her place in infamy. With the fall of the Tenth Sith Empire, the organization has been making a simultaneous effort to retreat even further into the shadows and to spread its influence further, obscuring its activities and its possible reputation all the better to continue their Master's desires.
  • Curios: While they are not mandated in any way, as Darth Arcanix prefers her organization keeping itself hidden from prying eyes, many members of the organization have some sort of item, whether it be a ring or necklace or a piece of clothing, that has the organization's crest embedded in it. The crest itself does not appear to be a Sith symbol that would be recognized, especially with the changes in the organization since Operation: Eclipse, so members explain it away to curious individuals that see it as either a fraternity thing or some other plausible excuse.
  • Rules: Formerly, the organization had followed a slightly modified version of the Brotherhood of the Sith and Rule of Order creed as an extension of the Tenth Sith Empire. With that faction's fall, the organization's beliefs have shifted even more in line with their goals. Competition among the various cells is encouraged, and rules and laws that may have hindered some projects have been lifted with the fall of the Sith Empire, allowing the researchers to have no checks on their scientific pursuits except those established by the Lady of Secrets herself.
  • Goals: Even with the collapse of the Tenth Sith Empire, and the reorganizing and structuring of the organization from the Order of Shadows, the goals of the group have not changed from pushing the boundaries of Sith knowledge beyond anything even the greatest of the ancients could conceive. In addition to this goal, they strive to further the influence and power of their dark mistress throughout the galaxy, either through subterfuge, diplomacy, or outright conflict and in turn spreading the influence of the dark side over the entire galaxy.

Taeli Raaf - Lady of Secrets
Eldaah Aderyn - current First Daughter

HISTORICAL INFORMATION - Much of the historical section comes from the previous submission

As Taeli Raaf, known among the One Sith as Darth Arcanix, began plotting her departure from the slowly crumbling empire and how to best accomplish her mission of infiltrating the Jedi, she had to figure out how to move her power base out of the Core covertly. She couldn't throw it away, she was Sith after all, but she couldn't exactly be seen among them at this beginning stage of her deception. To that end, she had many of her followers moved to various facilities, both within her company of Aurora Industries, and within neutral space. Coordinating with them from a base in the Unknown Regions, with a faux headquarters on Byss, the Order of Shadows was officially formed.

Initially, the Lady of Secrets kept contact with the organization at the barest minimum, letting her apprentice act as her intermediary while she established herself with the Jedi, aiding in their war against the One Sith as both a part of the Republic and the Galactic Alliance. As the years continued, she slowly started to expand the operations of the organization, directing its efforts more closely as she was allowed greater freedoms to move about the galaxy as a senior Jedi Master.

The Order of Shadows began its task of infiltrating the Galactic Alliance shortly after the Kaeshana Incident that sparked the First Alliance-First Order War, slowly suborning Jedi and members of the Alliance to their cause, the Lady of Secrets personally teaching them how to maintain their facade around their erstwhile comrades.

The Alliance became aware, at least slightly, of the organization after discovering a Sithspawn creation lab on Xagobah and a rakghoul outbreak during the Atrisian Crisis on an Alliance world. The New Jedi Order initially believed the sect was rogue Sith leftover from the broken One Sith Empire until the New Sith Empire attacked and devastated Thyferra. After the scorching assault, Alliance Intelligence and members of the New Jedi Order discovered the faux headquarters of the organization on Byss after it was determined the Sith assault fleet had been able to obscure part of their movements into First Order space because of jamming technology on the planet.

An assault was launched by Omai Rhen and the New Jedi Order on the base, encountering fierce resistance in the form of Sithspawn, Shadow Legion soldiers, and Engima Adepts throughout the capital city and the rebuilt fortress of Emperor Palpatine. During the fighting, Omai Rhen was separated from the rest of the Jedi and engaged the supposed leader of the group, with Taeli Raaf arriving shortly after.

In a shocking betrayal, Omai was killed by the Lady of Secrets, his spirit destroyed by a dark side tendril, and a convincing act was made for the other arriving Jedi of her being on the brink of losing her life as well. The Order of Shadows was forced to abandon the base shortly after, and Taeli Raaf became the new Grand Marshal of the New Jedi Order. With her acting as the new leader of the Jedi, she was able to cloak the activities of her organization reclaiming the base on Byss surreptiously, as well as the establishment of a staging point on Coruscant for her coup de grace.

On Fleet Day, the day the Galactic Alliance was to officially unveil their first Vanguard-class Super Star Destroyer, the Lady of Secrets activated Operation: Eclipse, otherwise known as Endgame. All across the Alliance, the agents that had been infiltrating for near ten years now all activated, turning on their comrades, sabotaging defenses, and otherwise throwing the Alliance into chaos. The bulk of the activity was centered on Coruscant, and to make matters worse, it was revealed it had all been a coordinated campaign with the New Sith Empire and its Emperor Darth Carnifex to tear apart and burn the Alliance to ash. The Alliance fell that day, the Lady of Secrets revealing her true allegiances as the New Jedi Order's temples burned, their order shattered and the remaining Alliance loyalists fleeing into the Outer Rim. With the Alliance destroyed, the Order of Shadows' headquarters was relocated to Sith space, their facilities across the galaxy now turning to the research of the dark side, discovering old secrets and creating new aspects of the dark side never before seen, all in service to Taeli and the Sith Empire.

In the years since, the organization has quietly been assisting their mistress and the Sith Empire, serving in many roles during what was known as the Third Imperial Civil War. That conflict saw Darth Arcanix begin to subtly move her power base back into the shadows, even as she continued in her role as a Dark Councilor. The gradual collapse of the Tenth Sith Empire saw the Sith Lady recruiting various units and Sith that have either been isolated when their lines were broken by the New Imperial forces and their second Galactic Alliance allies, including many of the Sith that had formed the Saaraishash and its various groups in the Empire.

The organization was also heavily involved in the hidden schemes of Kaine Zambrano, including helping devise the rituals needed for his ultimate goal, and his Kainate forces as both Carnifex and Arcanix recognized it was only a matter of time before the final collapse. The group saw extensive deployment in the defense of Ziost, the world that Darth Arcanix had chosen as her personal domain upon ascension to the Dark Council, with the Galactic Alliance's targeting New Adasta and the Sorzus Academy. The academy held but the city fell, but would see the forced evacuation between a counterattack from Sith forces and the unleashing of an altering ritual into the very atmosphere of the planet by Sith adepts from the Order of Arcane Syn.

When the final collapse of the Empire came, the organization, with its mistress, retreated into the shadows, but their work would continue.
