Crashed E-9 Explorer Silverflare, the ocean depths of Azure

"You think they heard us?"

"Maybe? I want to think so..." said the scout.

Six years in the depths of space, and I'm going to drown in ancient sea which we once knew about but forgot about yet again... Vrein let out a sigh. How long have we been down here? Five hours? Twelve? He glanced at his wrist chrono but the cracked glass told him immediately reminded him that it wasn't functional. His partner, a young woman from Kuat, had tried to leave what she had called a "stifling" culture. He could find irony in the situation. If culture wouldn't do that to you, nature would find a way if you weren't careful. He threw a piece of cracked paneling against the bulkhead out of frustration.

"Life support systems aren't working right. You can hear the hiss," said the corellian, "we've got to assume that the outer hull's puncture means that seawater has probably flooded and damaged the atmospheric reprocessors."

"But they're here. They'll find us."

He slowly nodded, "But will they find us in time? We should see if we can find some rebreathers or maybe a back-up gas cylinder here somewhere."

"You think it'll work?"

"Maybe? I don't know Renae. I just don't know..." muttered the man.

A loud screeching sounded from the wrecked vessel's port side and the floor seemed to shift beneath them. We're sliding...that's not a good sign...

K105's sulfur-like photoreceptors seemed to burn their way into Jace Rhane Jace Rhane 's eyes. The droid briefly hesitated before turning back to its owners and talking in the Azur'i tongue. A few sharp exchanges between the droid and the leader were occasionally punctuated by a few remarks from the other Azur'i gathered.

"He wants to know why the outsiders have returned. Again."

The droid held up a holo-projector in his hand that flickered to life, bringing up fuzzy images of battles between the SJC and the Sith Empire, between the Mandalorian Union and the Sith Empire, and even more distant battles between the Galactic Republic and the CIS of old.

"Outsiders have only brought destruction and waste to this world. The Azur'i have had to clean up the aftermath - the wreckages in the ocean, the environmental contaminants, and even the bodies themselves. They are concerned that the crash of a new vessel on the ocean floor is a portent of renewed war on Azure."

The holo-projector flickered again to show a hazy image of Finley Dawson 's Moonshine descending towards the world and part of the old battlefield.

"Explain yourself. Why has a ship crashed here? Why are there more ships like this coming, and not towards the crash site? Do we need to attack that ship coming towards the ground right now? Tell us. Tell us now."

Silver longed to pressed up against the view port, too; there was so much to see that she almost, almost put her pink helmet on early, just to play with the HUD a little bit. But she didn’t; instead she hovered behind the Captain, peeking at his sensor readouts and trying, trying not to be too distracted by the glittering, luminous fish in the largest body of water she’d ever seen. At her feet lay both her helmet and her duffle bag of salvage gear.

The Captain’s quiet reminder to the nautolan Padawan tensed Silver all over.

No. No. Silver Jedi Concord were not late. Other Jedi were late. Or mean. Or bad, even.

“We’ll make it!” Silver said cheerfully, hoping to back up the Padawan. “This is my second underwater mission,” both self appointed, This time I have the right gear.” She beamed at the Captain-and-Knight Ravenna, before turning to look enviously at Lanyria “Right? I sink in water. This is stuff is bad enough on land.” she thumped the plastoid armor once with a balled fist, her pink gauntlets making a pleasant, musical sound rather than the dull thud it ought to.

Silver liked to play with sound.

Mig stood on the bridge of the Sarlacc, an ironic name for a smaller scout frigate. It was like a memory to be back aboard a smaller craft like this, but it gave him a smile on his face. He looked out at the larger Silver vessels, and quickly ordering the scout frigate and patrol craft to form up on the Jedi frigate. At the same time, the lone craft the frigate carried, an EX-90, would quickly dart off to start scouting out more precisely. The Mandalorian took a breath as he contacted the Silver ships.

"This is the Sarlacc. Let's find these hut'uun (coward) pirates. Already have scanners on full."

This really was her kind of world, and she could work with that. And the fact that there was something going on out there, well, she could only hope her co-pilot, her crew could really remain here and keep up with her. If not that was fine, she had a few water sealed droids to help back her up. The blonde witch was at home in the water, and she was more than happy to be running point for an uncontacted groups.

This was one such group. They were pulled out from the shuddering of the crashed ship. Seemed that Acaadi and Phalsi were running for the rescue, which meant Brooke was going to have to work on the distraction and trying to keep these locals at bay. Ha, bay, underwater. She was seeing the vessel being moved. It was drifting, and the locals seemed to be going a little bit… crazy with it.

“Uhh Command. Locals seem to have found the spot.”
Being part Brubreen she was naturally acclimated for the depths, even at this depth she could be fine with the proper suit. “I can go EV and try to… I don’t know… stop them?” A few of the other Witches were loading up themselves into their own suits. “Acaadi, any ideas? Want me handle them, you focus on the rescue?” She had a few spells she thought she could use to get rid of the foes. One that was actually focused on vibration… She was wondering if that would not be the best.

Lightning, an electric shock of the Force…

"Gear can certainly be important," agreed Travot, slowly smiling at Silver Solus Silver Solus .

The man himself remembered acquiring and making some of his first field gear - some of which he still used even all of these years later. He rested his hand on the pommel of his lightsaber, remembering with gratefulness how often it had helped get him out of trouble. Some jedi took particular pride in their crafting abilities or in the gear they had scrounged or obtained in other ways - but it could also lead to a dark path for the unwary.

"Just remember to not get too attached to it," cautioned the knight, "others may have to rely on it for daily lives. But we are Jedi - attachments to material things can lead to the dark side if we are not careful. Let us see if we can get a little closer..."

Travot gently tilted the controls forward, briefly taking the sub through a school of shimmering blue-green fish before them. He could not deny the pleasure of enjoying the environment around them, yet he felt something forbidding in the background - an obvious danger, though it was not to him. He frowned and briefly slowed his sub to almost a crawl while he immersed his mind into meditation through the Force. Even as he attempted to, Brooke Waters Brooke Waters 's voice filtered in throughout the sub.

"Uhh Command. Locals seem to have found the spot. I can go EV and try to… I don’t know… stop them?

That doesn't sound good. He pressed on the sub's acceleration pedal, swiftly bringing the transport to surge towards the Silverflare and her apparent assailants. He turned briefly to face the padawans.

"Are you two ready to get wet? We may have to act a bit quicker than I'd like..."

As much of the team were gathered inside the briefing room, all talking amongst themselves as Bartleby was gathering a headcount, Azrael walked in with a datapad. Each of them in their Mk I armor they were prepped for close-quarters ship-bound combat. As per protocol and sign of respect, they stood immediately only to be seated a moment later.

What's the plan, boss?

Eyes up. We're here only for insertion if necessary. If they surrender, we got a paid day off.

The display came up with what looked to be a display of the ship that they were looking for. There was almost a full blueprint with highlighted points on the ship.

Pegasus' 1 and 2 will hit the docking ports and breach the ship from either side. Once the teams are in we make our way to Main Engineering and shut down both engines and weapons control. We'll then bail out the landing bay to zero-G to the Annunaki waiting outside for exfil.

Directorate Officer Fleet Admiral SJC 3rd Fleet
Location - prototype MC60 operations cruiser Zataras - somewhere near the Azure system
Objective III - Hunt down pirate assailants
Gir Quee Gir Quee Mig Gred Mig Gred Aien Mueller

The three vessels that made up the small task force escaped hyperspace with a silent flash of light. at the for of the formation sat the newly launched Zataras. She would be the first of her class and served as a testbed for a newly envisioned operations cruiser for the Directorate and Silver Jedi. the two corvettes flanking her had been dispatched to aid in the ongoing search for a group of pirates who were terrorizing space near the Azure system. Their mission was to assist the Silver Jedi forces in the area and bring an end to the Pirate plague.

"Admiral on the bridge," shouted an officer as Reshmar stepped off the lift. Reshmar nodded to the man and said "At ease" as he walked past him. The men and women who had snapped to attention relaxed and went back to their stations. Reshmar looked around the command center for the first time. He had designed the vessel and had been aboard once before but that had been early on in the ship's construction. He had chosen to stay in his quatrers for the short jump from the rally point and rest until they had reached the system. The trip out from Rothana had been a long one-way jump which he had spent most of studying the new vessel and looking over the latest data from the system.

It was no secret how Reshmar felt about Pirates. He and the Pirate King had been hunting each other for decades now. Both were never able to grasp at their respective prey fully. Reshmar had started his naval career with the Mon Calamari Defense Force half a century ago and the majority of his first two decades of service were hunting pirates in the wild space and around the calamari sector. He had lost many friends and subordinates to the filth of the galaxy. along the way, he had developed an unhealthy hatred of anything to do with pirating. With age comes understanding and wisdom and now his hatred for the lot had been tempered some. As a leader of The Directorate, he had been forced to deal with and even utilize some of the less bloodthirsty of the bunch, even going as far as having one on his payroll. The pirates here though were not the type he would let survive.

"Captain, she is a fine ship, at least what I have seen of her," said Reshmar as he walked up to the officer standing at the command podium. The Duro officer turned and nodded to the Mon Calamari admiral then answered. She should be sir, you did design her," said the captain with a smile. Reshmar nodded then set his attention on the hologram hovering in the center of the room.

"Most of our forces have arrived and are beginning to search for any sign of the corsairs. Admiral, Gir's ship is here, the The Mandalorian group is here, and the Bartholemew is way out here" said the Duro officer as he highlighted the separate groups. "We are here," said the man magnifying the hologram to show the Zataras and her escorts. "Our intel has the last reported sighting of the pirates here," said the man as the image zoomed out and a small area of the three-dimensional map was highlighted. "Azure is here as is the main Jedi rescue force," stated the captain as the map once again zoomed out and back in on the world where the rescue operations were currently taking place. The Duro zoomed the hologram back out so all of the highlighted sections were in view. The Zataras is yours, Admiral, what are your orders," quested the man looking now at Reshmar. The Mon Calamari looked for a moment at the image then turned to look at the captain.

"Move us here I want to keep an open distance between us and the rest of the group, say a million kilometers. Keep monitoring the area but only with passive scanners and make us as dark as possible," ordered Reshmar. "Yes sir," replied the Duro captain who then turned to carry out his orders. Reshmar turned his gaze back to the image with curiosity. "where are you hiding" he said staring at the representation of space laid out before him.

"You nerf-herder," spat out Tien, picking up his blaster carbine, "Not only did you not get the ship, but you let me broadcast a distress signal."

"There's only been one Concordian ship that we've seen come this way yet, and they didn't see us. We just have to wait," said the twi'lekk, "the concordians don't know where the crash site is. We wait, the survivors die, and then we loot the wrecked ship. I know it's not a complete prize, but we're not out of a profit yet."

With that, the aqualish pirate growled before slinging his carbine over his shoulder, "Maybe. But if this doesn't work out..."

"I know, I know. It'll be my last..." said Qahorn, placing his hands up as if to calm down an infant, "Trust me, I understand."

The aqualish turned around and looked through the ship's viewport, "Why do you always do this?"

A bright red blaster bolt suddenly surged into Tien's head, disintegrating it almost entirely. The smoking corpse briefly tottered before Qahorn gave it a sharp kick and tucked away his hold-out blaster pistol. The Twi'lekk first mate turned to face the rest of the bridge crew. A sullen looking zabrak attempted to leave but was quickly detained by a pair of gotals who brought him before the new, self-promoted captain.

"Zyrel, you were always Tien's man," said Qahorn, "I really ought to simply get rid of you now. But tell you what, I'll give you a chance to change your fate since you're almost a decent pilot. There's an enemy scout fighter out there, heading our way. If you can get rid of it before it finds us, I'll give you-"

"Capt'n, we're being scanned, looks like it's from an enemy scout craft. Concordian."

The twi'lekk frowned, "Bring it up on holo."

The ship's holo-projector conjured up an image of an almost atmospheric-looking craft. Qahorn began to curse as the scout fighter detected the small pirate fleet.

"Get rid of it before it leaks our location. Get everyone prepared to jump out of here..."

Without much warning, the blonde was already in her songsteel suit, and working on the seals for the water. Looking to the others of her team, one more a healer, and the other more of a striker, what Brooke would be calling the baneful use of the Force, she didn’t think they were going to need to do too much destructive Night Magick, as it were. The locals were just a bit frazzled with the entry of someone new to their territory.

Brooke did have an idea to try to speak to the others, or reach out to them in the Force. As a Witch and as a Jedi, she was gifted with telepathy, and hoped that maybe it could go across to them, even if she didn’t know them from Adam, as the saying would be a long time in the future, in a galaxy far far away. Still, she donned her helmet and grabbed the trident she used as a focus for her magick.

“Starlit Sea to command, and all around, we’re disembarking… I can feel it in the Force, something isn’t right. Going for a non-lethal approach.”
Even if it had to come away from telepathy, she had a few Songs prepared… The blonde, now under her dark helmet, looked to her team. “Stick close, barriers and non-lethal approach. I’ll see if I can break their walls down… communicate with them.” She nodded and hummed to herself a second before stepping into the airlock.

A few seconds later her and her team were weightless in the water. A quick focus and the trident Brooke carried produced a brilliant flash, intent on grabbing attention away from the downed vessel.

Silver’s brilliant grin met the Captain’s slow smile, the girl all but vibrating in eagerness, despite a dedicated attempt to mimic the the Knight’s calm. She soaked in his wisdom, every thought and reaction mirrored in her bright eyes.

We are Jedi.

“We don’t need things, because our amor is not beskar’gam, but beskar’tkiriyr?” Tugging on her bright pink gauntlets, she stared at them for a heart beat, disappointed in them. They were plastoid, after all. “An iron spirit, instead of an iron skin.” A wrinkle creased her brow, as she tried to decipher how being attached to a thing could lead to the dark. Shoving the pink helmet in place she double checked her re-breather and the vacuum seal on her armor. Well. She would sink, but she wouldn’t crush, freeze or drown. “So we should give things to people who need them?” A flickering look at the Silver Jedi and his Padawan.

The sub dove suddenly, an elegant, seamless grace coming over the Silver Jedi Captain as he accelerated into deep water, seeking their prey.

“Oya! Let’s hunt!”

And he found something, the Knight! Only not with his eyes? With something, that same something that told you when you were hunted.

The sub slowed, and a voice echoed through the COMMs system; someone attacking the lost ship? Craning her head, Silver studied the read outs then synced her HUD to the ship’s greater sensors. Slinging her pack to latch onto her armor where a Jet Pack would some day rest, she picked up her turbo sled.

“Ready, sir!” Silver flashed a thumbs up at both Knight and Padawan, trying to conceal the turbulence in her stomach. Now was not the time to show fear! Now she was going to save someone.

A deeper breath, and she prepared to follow the Knight into the sea!!!

“So we should give things to people who need them?”

"Well, I'd wager that we'll need a couple of these for any of the survivors."

With that, Travot tossed a Pneuma-series Rebreather to the Mandalorian Jedi. A full fledged aquasuit would have been better in depths, but it would be difficult to lug around and the Susevfian doubted that there'd be a lot of time for the survivors to get one on anyways. We got to do with what we've got to - a temporary solution is definitely better than dying...

Travot powered down the submarine, letting it gently glide forward on simple momentum that fought against the rising deep currents. As the last of the ship's lights flickered out, he donned his own pneuma-series rebreather and shuffled next Silver Solus Silver Solus and her sled. In comparison to both of the padawans, he seemed under-equipped, wearing only a basic wetsuit along with his breath mask. Yet He could recall instances during the time of the Old Republic in which Jedi went deep-sea swimming with only the robes on their back and primitive aquata breathers. He was thankful that at least he had a facemask and a means to communicate with the others.

Oya! Let’s hunt!

"Yes, but let's remember that we're here to rescue the survivors first and foremost. If we have to engage hostilities, then we must to what is necessary to preserve each other. Everyone ready?"

“Ready, sir!”

His own padawan seemed to relish the opportunity to prove herself as much as Silver Solus. He knew that the nautolan would probably be swimming circles around him. She squeezed in next to Silver Solus. He slapped a button on the ship's bulkhead which would flood the dive chamber. This is the worse part. Seawater gushed into the chamber and filled it up before the doors slid open to reveal to the dark deep. Travot pushed off with his feet, using the Force to amplify his natural strength - he surged forward like a torpedo towards the wreck of the Silverflare before the current started to slow him down to a leisurely drift. A bright light from Brooke Waters Brooke Waters almost immediately caught his attention before he realized its intent.

Brilliant, in more ways than one. Take advantaging of the distraction, Travot turned his attention to the teetering scoutship. He stretched out a hand towards it and concentrated on stabilizing the starship using telekinesis. In many ways, it was easier than the old exercise of lifting a starfighter off the ground - the mass was less due to the water. The only downside was that the water also fought him, slowly but surely. He toggled his breath mask's comlink.

"Solus, Lanyria - get in there and get the survivors out. We will keep the ship from going down and help ah...negotiate with the natives."

With the way she was moving, the Witch and her team were going to be giving the enemies a bit of a target, and she had one who were prepping for the barrier while another was prepping something more baneful. Brooke herself had realized that she had gotten their attention, and that was part of what she needed. She watched them and fell into the Force deeper, pulling on the telepathy that she was able to use to connect to other beings.

Leave the ship, we do not mean you harm… She was focusing on the lead. It was more akin to a Jedi Mind Trick, but as a witch, there was no real analog, aside from charming a beast, or a being. She saw that they were coming at her now and was moving backwards in the water herself.

Turning to her sister in arms, she nodded, and a barrier was up.

Calm yourself… She called out in the Force, pushing towards the beings. She didn’t need to make the connection, but if she could… maybe the Silvers could use the connection to turn Azure into something…

With a laugh Silver caught the fancy piece of new tech, pausing to examine it and be sure she could put in on someone in distress, even though she’d not seen model before. “Nice tech! Mia would love this.” Fastening it into a combat fast-release clip on her belt (where a grenade would go, if only she could talk her aunt and Alor Mig into it), Silver shivered as the lights went out.

But a grin tugged free at the Silver Jedi, ready to dive into battle with nothing but his Light Saber, his fancy rebreather and his wet suit. It was a bit disappointing that the wet suit was neither blindly silver in color nor swirling Jedi robes. But then, Silver had recently discovered what happened when one tried to swim with a cloak, and couldn’t help but conclude that the same would be true of heavy robes.

“Yes, Sir!! Survivors, defense and uhhhh-” Might be better not to finish the phase and we avenge what we could not prevent. It might imply the Silver Jedi could have stopped this disaster, and Silver would never do that.

When Lanyria squeezed in beside her, Silver offered a fist bump and a companionable nudge of the elbow, then squeaked and held on tight as the compartment was furiously flooded! Her heart pounded, suddenly terrified of the shear weight of respobility. Lives, real people’s lives were at stake. Before she’d even caught her breath, the Knight was off moving though magic and skill, the water his second home.

And that was nothing to the Padawan! Laughter flooded around and through her fear, banishing it in a spurt of pure joy. Using her new turbo sled she shot ofter the Jedi, even as her the Knight somehow held steady the sliding, slipping ship!

Focused upon her mission, Silver was unaware of the light in the darkness, or of the risks others took so that a few lost souls might have hope.

Driving right for the hatch, Solus was still behind the swift-swimming Lanyria, waiting while the lock cycled open. Tapping her own COMM, she broadcast the standard spacer’s rescue

Silver Flare, Instruction: Stand by on VHF Channel One-six. Advise: breaching Air Lock-” white letters were emboldened above the airlock. “two in five seconds on my Mark.” catching Lanyria’s eye, she’d wait until the Padawan gave her a sign.

“Mark!” Silver’s time sense was keen, and she didn’t need to watch her HUD’s count down to count the mark down for those they’d come to rescue.

“Five!” The ship groaned as the airlock hiss, unlatching. Bubbles shoved at Silver with surpassing force, for a thing made of air!

“Four!” She lunged for her turbo sled, before it reached the end of its tether and bounced back into her.

“Three!” Powering forward again, she clung to the safety bar as the lock swung open.

“Two!” Triggering her external helmet light, Silver tensed. If the ship had lost the inner lock … they could be sending tons of sea water into vessel, given them about 120 seconds to find the survivors and provide rebreathers. Hands were shaking, heart pounding so strongly her vision fuzzed out for an instant on each beat.

Breathless, anxious, Silver managed a final, “One!” as the airlock panned open.

ORDERS: Board the pirate ship and shut it down.

As the Bartholemew came in providing assistance to the Scout, the distraction was enabled. They were not here for a fight, they were here to drop a package. Two Pegasus stealth transports dropped out the back of the ship and made their way around "flak" fire and into the pirate's launch bay. Weapons fire did little to stop them, and when they returned fire? That was not what the pirates were wanting to deal with and those who were not bludgeoned ran for their lives. Quickly each transport emptied and a perimeter was secured. Charges were set by Gabriel, just in case until finally, they were ready to move...

Charlie team covered the hallway leading out as Alpha slowly made their way down, heading towards Main Engineering. Bravo was in close behind, picking off security and targets of opportunity as they went along. Bartleby sliced into the ship's systems and temporarily shut down both navigational and defensive systems. This would not hold up long and they all knew it, but the point to what he was doing was to keep them occupied as he found the best way to Engineering. Shutting off the grave systems would be some added fun.

Alpha team was busy cutting down and wrecking security droids. Those that they could not destroy, Bartleby and Chamuel hacked and reprogrammed.

They may just make their way to the bridge after all.

...
... yeah, we scare them.

Location: Trieste-class Escort Frigate Blue Moon, somewhere near the Azure System
Objective III: Hunt down the Pirate Assailants

The admiral languidly paced around the bridge - one much smaller than he had become accustomed to. A single holo-projector captured the little action that occurred around the supposedly abandoned world, showing the dozens of 'tracks' depicting the Concordian ships searching for the pirates. The Blue Moon's starfighters had flitted in pairs across the system, with the Mistrals staying relatively closer to the Blue Moon because of their lack of hyperdrive and the more experimental, pre-production Typhoon IIs pushing to the outer reaches of the planetary system. The man also noted other small dots on the holo-maps, the largest of which depicted the Zataras, the untried cruiser that carried his friend, ADM. Reshmar ADM. Reshmar . Surprise colored his face as one of the smaller dots suddenly lit up with a message, which the Moon's comm's officer promptly patched through:

"Enemy fleet spotted. I couldn't get a good look by I can tell a Quasar from a parsec away."
"Who sent that?" asked the admiral, squinting his eyes as he studied the projector and the fleeing track of the scout fighter.

"An EX90 scout fighter..."

"We're not too far," commented Captain T'sun, "if it's just a Quasar and some of its carried ships."

The man from Hast nodded in agreement, "We should be able to handle that just fine, at least until the other ships arrive."

"Make the jump," said T'sun, "and recall all of our fighters to the last known location of that enemy Quasar."

Gir briefly paused for a moment, but before he could say anything, the Blue Moon jumped into hyperspace. The Moon itself was fairly lightly armed, but it did pack more punch than a Quasar Fire-class Bulk Cruiser. Yet the man couldn't help but wonder if they were jumping the gun. The enemy did appear to be pirates operating light craft, but how many light craft were there? And what were their models? As he pondered the likely answers to such questions, the Blue Moon reverted from hyperspace on the port side of the enemy pirate fleet. His eyes widened as the Blue Moon's scanners began to pick up not only the Vengeful Dead, but also the presence of three small attack corvettes and an enemy pirate frigate. On top of that, he found the answer to his question of the type and number enemy small craft. The small number of the Moon's own strike craft complement that was making their way to the SJC escort frigate would be outnumbered, though they were likely more dangerous dogfighters than their criminal opponents.

"We need to start pulling back," said the admiral, "there's too many of them."

T'sun nodded in agreement, "Helm turn us around. Admiral, do you want us to jump back to lightspeed?"

"Not yet," said Gir, "though we ought to calculate an emergency just in case that frigate gets to chew a bit too much off of us. Are transmitting everything here back to the fleet?"

T'sun nodded.

"Good. I think the Zataras is going to have save us from this mess...but maybe we can start drawing some of them away from the main formation."

"Only if the main formation doesn't go for us first."

"That's a distinct possibility," admitted Admiral Quee, "in which case, let's hope that we have enough time for everyone else to come in..."

Reshmar was sitting on the command couch of Zataras reading over the latest reports from the rescue operation. The teams on the world below had been working diligently to save the crashed ship but the intel Reshmar was given was hours old at this point. What the current situation on the world below was still a mystery. He was about to order the communications commander to query the Concordian fleet above the world for information when the officer called his name.

"Admiral Reshmar, sir, We have a scout craft reporting contact with the pirate group." said the officer as he sent the information to the admiral's console. Reshmar pulled up the information on the seat's personnel data screen and looked over it. He looked up a second later at the hologram in the center of the room and watched as the information filled in. a second later the icon designated as Blue Moon disappeared and reappeared as it made a micro-jump to close with the reported pirate ships location.

"Helm, plot a jump to put us five kilometers of the port flank of the ship's reported location." Reshmar orders, he considered the information and ascertained that five kilometers would put him well away from any ship or its escorts. The last thing he wanted was to scratch the paint on Zaratas' hull by slamming into something coming out of hyperspace. A moment later he gave the jump commander the go order and the eight hundred meter vessel jumped.

The Zaratas exited hyperspace nearly on top of a pirate corvette. The large vessel was soon joined by its two escorts bearing down on what appeared to be more than just a modified freighter. "Tactical plot solutions for every contact out there. Once we get off data lock onto all enemy ships but hold fire. Colonel, launch the wing, then have four of the recon fighters launch and move out away from the engagement zone and track everything. If something pulls away from the enemy formation have a recon fighter track them but by no means engage." ordered Reshmar as the enemy formation opened fire on the combined forces of the Concordian group.

"Sir we have data indicated a boarding team had landed on one of the enemy vessels" called out an officer to Reshmars left.

"Which one lieutenant?" questioned Reshmar who for a definitive "I am not sure sir" reply.

"Tactical, continue to hold fire and find out which ship those crazy marines boarded. Colonel have your attack wing engage enemy attack craft in support of the Blue Moons fighter group. Prep four gunboats for boarding but hold them in reserve. We will let the marines do their jobs but if they call for assistance or need a get out of crap ride off that ship we will send them." said Reshmar. Reshmar had no idea what happened as far as intel on this operation but the Concord had sorely underestimated the pirate force in the system. That was something he would look into once the operation was over.

Objective 2 - Investigate Old Silver Jedi Base

There was a collective groan among the members of Delta squad as Finley relayed his initial findings. Nobody was a fan of wasting time, but orders were orders. The Concord was interested in making use of Azure as a strategic buffer against the Bryn next door. They were quiet right now, but then the xenocidal hordes had gone quiet right before their next wave of invasions into the Silvers' frontier. This time the Concord wouldn't be caught with their robes down.

"It's not too bad - we still have drones from the last mission, so we pop out a few of those that will speed up the search immensely. I'll check we may be able to hook into any systems underground to and check if---"

Goosebumps popped up along the back of his neck while the Jedi Knight suddenly jerked the yoke backward to quickly pitch the Moonshine onto a new trajectory. With inertial dampeners only set to 96%, Finley could feel the explosion of G-forces right in his gut from the extreme maneuver. Without the dampeners running at all, he and the Delta would probably be pancakes in their seats right about now.

Moments later, a stream of glowing slugs ripped right along the path Finley would have been without the evasive maneuver.

The ship's sensors caught up to the Jedi's senses, Puck whistling frantically as the Moonshine's mouthpiece. However Puck's response and the yells of the Rangers in the back fell into the background ambiance as Finley tunneled on the attacker, once more jerking the yoke.

The freighter barreled left, but not before its shields shimmered from a pelting of slugs. In pilot mode, his initial assessment was that shooting below equaled AA. Really good AA that immediately adjusted in near-perfect sync with his earlier juke. Probably computer-guided, spitting a flood of fire solutions faster than a normal pilot could think.

It was time to jet.

He practically punched the throttle to gun the afterburners, sinking back into his seat as the atoll base became a spec over the horizon.

"What the feth was that?!" Sergeant Kodi called over the intercomm. "Yah nearly sent me flying into the kitchen sink!"

"Sorry about that," Finley apologized as he pulled back on the throttle. "Looks like that island is livelier than I thought."

Hard at work, Puck had already pulled up relevant files on its internal drive, projecting the schematics of a Vespa Auto-ripper. A popular option used in AA defenses around important installations in Silver Space, the Kirbian made gun had been originally designed to shoot down missiles racing at hyper velocities laser-accurate streams of energy coated armor/shield busting flechettes, so his comparative brick of a freighter would have normally been easy pickings in such a surprise attack.

"KSA is usually selective about who they sell their wares too, so by Occam's Laser, that means our mystery assailants got the base's old defenses running. Puck, see what else was present on the base before it was scuttled."

With the confirmation of hostile activity on the island, the resident base definitely had to be secured, but Finley and the Rangers couldn't be lackadaisical about it. This wasn't like one of those holo-flicks where they could just wing it.

"Fellas, get ready for some homework..."

Crashed E-9 Explorer Silverflare, the ocean depths of Azure

As Silver Solus Silver Solus and Lanyria breached into the Silverflare, they would find the water starting to pour in behind them into the ship itself, even as Vrein and Renae stumbled towards them with a mixture of relief and worry. Quickly accepting the proferred rebreather masks, the two Silver Scouts were ready to be escorted off their doomed ship. Despite his best efforts, Travot Ravenna found that a deep undercurrent was starting to push more and more on the portside of the Silverflare herself - he would likely only be able to stabilize the wreck for a few minutes before it was wrenched from his grasp and carried off into deeper depths.

The Azur'i that initially had tried to move the wreck of the Silverflare began to mill about in confusion. Just who exactly were these strangers? What were these lights and barriers? What unknown force had kept them from moving the wrecked ship? Few Azur'i had had much contact with outsiders, which exacerbated the confusion - while unwelcome, the visitors hadn't tried to attack the Azur'i, and they appeared to have strangely powerful magic or technology, leaving the Azur'i present of a divided mind. Telepathy or just pure instinct reading would suggest that the Azur'i were going through a version of the fight or flight response, and it was increasingly leaning towards the latter.

But one Azur'i swam towards Brooke Waters Brooke Waters and spoke in pidgin basic.

"Me Tyadsia. Why you here? You no harm us. Why?"

H3Fy1ug.png

Footsteps echoed from behind Jace Rhane, revealing a new figure wearing a short armorweave cloak clasped by a broach bearing the insignia of the Silver Jedi. A pair of lightsabers dangled on his belt. Yet despite his attire, the newcomer walked slowly and steadily, with posture that suggested neither aggressiveness nor passiveness but rather a measured response. A placid but clearly practiced smile slowly grew across his lips.

"I am Jedi Master Graff of the Silver Jedi," said Wenton Graff, "and I believe I can answer your questions, perhaps better than many of our Order."

The Jedi Master briefly paused, scanning to make eye contact with each of the Azur'i present as K105 translated his remarks. Some continued to display the reverence they had initially shown Rhane, while others appeared to be angry, perhaps not at the Jedi present, but more at the interloping ship above the base they had reclaimed. Graff pointed at the holo of Finley Dawson 's freighter being attacked.

"That vessel is one of ours. I would appreciate it if it was not shot at. This is a great misunderstanding, I am afraid. We did not know that your people had found the base that we had built - that is why we sent the first ship - to see if the base still existed. You seem to have kept it in excellent working order, I might add - a great testament to your abilities...but continued hostility to us will only bring you problems."

The Jedi master produced a holo-projector from his utility belt and hit an activation stud, displaying the ships now nearby Azure.

"Pirates now wander the stars - they would seek to destroy you like they tried to destroy the ship of ours that sunk into your seas. They would take that base from you..."

On that note, the image stayed on the assembled pirate fleet, with a prominent view of the Vengeful Dead and the Reskar's Saber looming towards the planet.

"...and they are powerful to take this base from you. Or they would be, if not for us..."

The holo-projector now turned to enlarge the view to show the Silver Concord ships converging on the pirate fleet. The Zataras seemed to swim towards the enemy like a predatory fish, its greater size seeming to make it appear that it was about to devour the enemy fleet as the smaller Concord warships began to nibble away at the enemy craft.

"...but once the pirates are gone, we shall remain. And will you be able to stop us then? If you have read the base's files, you know the answer to that. We do not represent one world, no. We represent the wishes of hundreds of worlds. We would like to represent your world as well. If you stop shooting, I am certain that we can come to understand each other. We can both have peace...let bygones be bygones..."

With that, the Azur'i leader murmured something to several others, and the Vespa Ripper stopped firing on the Moonshine. Yet the crew would find that they were still be targeted and tracked by the base's weapons.

"Why do you not let our ship land," suggested Graff, "and have that ship's crew join us here. Then you too can see for yourselves that we mean you know harm..."

Objective 2 - Investigate Old Silver Jedi Base (Eventually save the meddling new residents from themselves)

[Base Opposition]

The individuals that had resurrected some of the defenses of the old bases had been clever, but not clever enough to consider the consequences of reactivating the largely automated systems without the guidance of their original owners. While the base's subterranean inhabitants considered a response to the probing freighter, corrupted autonomous protocols activated without warning, taking aim at the ship.

When the scavengers attempted to shut down the AA, the system acted out, locking terminals to prevent input and turning hostile towards its new owners. Excavated turrets, traps, and security droids turned the haven into hell as countermeasures were deployed underneath as a means of self-preservation.

It wasn't long before the scavengers began fleeing to the surface like rats off a sinking ship, but there would be little solace as droids - YVH-2 units were right on their tails, lobbing cryo grenades and coma canisters.

"Well, I'll be, of course, the base was equipped with a ground jammer," Finley groaned while reviewing the base layout with Delta squad. "That's why we were having trouble scanning everything was being screened by signal distortions. That would also explain while the initial targeting sensors of those Vespa didn't trigger any feedback. However, I could still feel life signs in the force, and the raw energy output of the jammer."

"Wew, I guess the scuttling wasn't as thorough as planned," Corporal Pattin noted, scratching his stubble.

"About as well as your morning shave," Sergent Kodi quipped, frowning at his subordinate.

"I dunno, my Mum said Dad must have had a Wookiee somewhere in his family line," Pattin replied with a shrug. "I was also well endowed with weeds on the chin."

Finley was similarly shaggy at the moment, so he remained mum on the topic even though he didn't have to observe such regulations on the soldiers as a Jedi.

"It wasn't clean," he continued, bringing them back to topic. "Bryn'adul had cut this area off from logistical support while launching their last major offensive. Usually, the drawdown process takes weeks or even months, but they only had a few days from what I know. The whole front just collapsed in a snap. It's actually quite a big base that dominates the island - got built up as a strategic garrison against the Mandalorian and Sith Empire when they were still a thing."

"So that means a lot of hardware still floating around. Hmmm, maybe this op will be more interesting than I thought."

"Puck is updating the local brass abut what we found, see if they can't rustle up a few more units from local patrols. However, in the meantime, we can least think about the approach to the base. If I hug the water on ingress, then Moonshine can creep under their firing arcs. Drop you guys off with Puck, stealth into the base, and hack the systems with our old backdoors."

"Fly the bus as you did just before, and Delta can manage the rest no problem."

A plan of sorts was coming together. The Jedi Knight would wait just a little longer for reinforcements, but he planned to hit the base ASAP in a bold move. More time meant the opposition had a larger window to craft tougher defenses.
