OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a carrier for the Galactic Alliance so they can deliver freedom throughout the Galaxy. It's also because this has been sitting in my google drive, for years. This was a project I started back when the Outer Rim Coalition was a thing, so I just wanted to get it done finally and give it to a faction where it made sense to be in.

STRENGTHS
  • Strength in Numbers: A dedicated carrier, with forty-two attack squadrons, eight support squadrons. Where the Wexley is slow and cumbersome, she makes up for it with numerous squadrons to aid her.
WEAKNESSES
  • Slow and Cumbersome: The Wexley as powerful as it is, sacrifices its speed and maneuverability for the sake of hangar space, defense and armament. Not only that, she’s large, and an easy target for enemies of the Galactic Alliance to target.
DESCRIPTION
The Norra Wexley was a project started long ago by Fiolette Yvarro, and carried on by her descendants. It was always meant to be a vessel destined for the likes of Republics, Alliances and even Coalitions. As she neared the end of her life, Yvarro wanted to find a way to atone for what she had done in life. The Wexley was just that, it was her latest creation and the last creation on the drafting table. Meant to support a massive fleet, aid the Jedi and allow for the Alliance to command their swarms of fighters from a dedicated center. It lacked in speed and maneuverability but more than made up for it in fire power, defense and its massive hangar spaces. It was the culmination of many systems created by Primo Victorian Shipwright. The new command and control systems, along with actual ship-side support for Force Users, in this case, the Jedi.

Rounding to 5,000m in length and width this massive carrier is meant to be the center piece of a Galactic Alliance, Republic or an Outer Rim fleet. With escorts, and destroyers on either side, and squadrons to support it. It's high defense and high armament allow the Wexley to provide support from a distance while striking the enemy with its squadrons. Low in speed and maneuverability. Large enough to be an easy target for enemy fleets the idea is that between her squadrons and any group she may be in, she can help overwhelm the enemy with numbers and bring them down before they have a chance to target her.

HISTORY
Project Wexley had gone long untouched; it had begun with Ivalyn’s grandmother Fiolette. It was continued by her mother Ariel, aunts Ryssa and subsequently Aerys. Her cousin Ethanael was commissioned to take on a series that would fit the RTL’s Alliance-like fighting style. He took to the task and dug through the archives to find this and began to work on it. Learning it was originally intended to be given to the Outer Rim Coalition, later the Outer Planets Alliance. The vessel remained on the drafting table, and so when he began to work on it. The intent was that it would go to the Rimward Trade League.

Ethanael found that Ariel had withdrawn the order to give the vessel over to the RTL. He carried on working on it, reassured by his aunt Aerys that it would indeed find a home. The keel for the vessel was laid down within the Commonwealth’s realm. Over the next decade construction on the massive vessel continued and then before Aerys left the Commonwealth to ‘find herself.’ She informed her nephew that his cousin Ivalyn had the details as to where the ship would go.

It would go to the Galactic Alliance.

A bit of irony as Primo Victorian Shipwright built vessels for the First Order, a once sworn enemy of the Galactic Alliance. He supposed with the First Order gone and the Commonwealth in its place that this was a good way to make amends. Until he read the specifics, it was specifically to go to the Sword of the Jedi herself. Valery Noble, a thank you gift. He damn near fell out of his chair. This entire command carrier was as large as it was and with the offensive and defensive capabilities it held although he was sure they were antiquated by that point... A gift for a single person?

Absurd.

Still.

If that’s what was to be done with it, fine. He wasn’t going to argue, he requested that his cousin Ivalyn get to know this Valery Noble better. Ethanael wanted to be sure that the ship would be used for the betterment of good rather than as an instrument in which to subjugate. He frowned, but of course he hoped the same for the Commonwealth with all its inherited technology from the First Order.

By 900 ABY the ship that had started in earnest some forty years prior, was finally complete and Ivalyn delivered it personally to Valery Noble. Ivalyn was sure the ship would be transferred directly to the Galactic Alliance, and requested that the Sword of Jedi mention it as a gift from the Dosuunian Commonwealth.
