Rate of Fire: A higher rate of fire means a greater chance for more effective damage output.
Double Threat: Like the Hailstone and Mars MDCs, the Bellona can utilize an ionization field in addition to the already potent ability of a mass driver.
Range: Ineffective at close combat range and beyond long-range combat.
Size: Smaller strike craft such as starfighters and combat shuttles may be able to slip by the Bellona's shells.
Siaber: At the mercy of the Siaber Crystal Power Generator, should the crystals powering the device become unstable. The result may be quite catastrophic for both gun crew and ship.
The Hailstone and Mars projects were created to serve larger capital ships. The Bellona would be the first to serve smaller capital ships. Utilizing the same Siaber Crystal Power Generator to give an increased acceleration, translating into more damage per shot upon impact. Like the larger models, the Bellona has the option of ionizing her shells through an ionization field that can be enabled or disabled by the gun crews.
The range for the cannon is perhaps most effective at standard, but - it is capable at firing at long range. This does come at the cost of losing accuracy as ships may have moved out of the shells range by the time they reach their targets. This is certainly assured for smaller vessels, larger vessels may still feel the impact of the Bellona’s projectiles.
The Bellona may be more devastating than both, Hailstone and Mars - as she features a similar three-barrel design coupled with a higher rate of fire. Field tests show the Bellona was able to put out more shells than either of the 512s. She would soon be featured in a number of upcoming designs, as other smaller mass driver cannons were put into production.
