Open to Farworlds Alliance Faction Members...
Farworlds Alliance
Now he was asked to open up their first official discussion. The Jedi had graciously gifted the large conference room within the Dawnbreaker vessel to be used for the first meeting. Lander felt a flutter in his chest, sitting there in the frontmost seat at the head of the table. Even so, a senator did not falter. He knew what he had to do.
"Good evening to you all," he greeted. "And a quick thank-you to the Jedi Outcasts for providing one of their vessels for us on short notice for the first official meeting of this Assembly. I've kindly been asked to open our discussion today, not as a show of my authority but as a reinforcement of the autonomy members share within the purview of our new charter. I will do well to remind you that, should the matter be of importance, you will have this very same right. Before we begin, I will state to those present the rights afforded to all members, as well as the standards of civilization we are all asked to uphold. These standards, by virtue of being present in this room, have been read by and agreed to by each member in private;"
The Sacorrian took a moment to clear his throat.
"Any member who signs the charter agrees to uphold the outlined standards of decency and civilized behavior. None may hold membership in the Farworlds Alliance while maintaining, protecting, profiting from, or knowingly permitting: Sentient Slavery, Trafficking, Forced Labor, Debt Bondage, or the Sale of Captive Populations. This rule applies to any government, noble house, corporation, military authority, religious order, merchant guild, planetary official, or other power acting with the protection, permission, or deliberate blindness of a member world. Member worlds of the Farworlds Alliance agree to maintain peace, good faith, and lawful conduct between one another. Rivalries, disputes, trade conflicts, border tensions, and political grievances may be brought before the Farworlds Alliance Assembly for mediation, but membership does not protect acts of aggression, conquest, or abuse.
When a member world is accused of violating the Charter, the Farworlds Alliance shall first seek truth before punishment. An inquiry may be opened by the Farworlds Alliance Assembly, by petition from refugees, by request from a member world, or by evidence gathered through patrols, envoys, merchants, relief ships, investigators, or allied organizations. The accused world shall be given the opportunity to answer the charge before the Farworlds Alliance Assembly. A tribunal may be held where the accuser may present their claim, the accused may respond, evidence may be reviewed, and witnesses may be heard.
By agreeing to the charter, members of the Alliance retain the right to: Govern according to their own laws, customs and traditions, Retain their own rulers and systems of power, Maintain their own private defense forces, Settle internal affairs without outside interference unless they may violate the Charter, Bring disputes, threats, or grievances before the Farworlds Assembly, and Recieve the protections, aid, and shared benefits granted by membership."
Lander paused to take a sip of his water. He hadn't spoken so much in a while. This was really working his orator muscles. After that pause he would continue once more.
"Now, since this is our first Assembly, we ask for introductions," Lander stated. "We will be growing familiar with all of our peers in the coming days. Afterwards, I would invite those with immediate concerns for the priorities of our Alliance to speak on such matters here so we may settle on a course of action for the following days. I will begin: My name is Lander Stalwart, and I represent the sovereign world of Refuge as requested by my peers. I now open the floor to those who are ready to speak."
The first gathering of the Farworlds Alliance Assembly was now in session.
