Faction Book Burning | (Sith Order)

Krayiss II
902 ABY
Krayiss Two, an ancient world of the Sith and one that has almost always sat within the sphere of Sith influence, has been firmly under the thumb of Darth Ophidia and her Tsis'Kaar since they revealed themselves to the wider Sith Order. Now their position on the edge of Kainite space has allowed for the Tsis'Kaar to conduct various operations into the old Sith worlds. This cannot continue.
A fleet and invasion force has been assembled but the planet itself is defended by numerous defensive batteries and hosts a variety of holdouts and hidden bases with which the Tsis'Kaar could fight to the end long after the planet itself is taken. As such a handful of teams are being sent to the surface to capture key areas before the overall invasion begins.
Slay the traitors and drag them from their holes.
Objective 1: Break the Den
The Tsis'Kaar, now bolstered by Inquisition forces, have long had a base of operations on Krayiss Two. Mainly intended to keep the library and other such sites of relics and knowledge hidden, this defensive base build into a deep canyon now hosts a force that has began launching raids into Kainite space that can be tolerated no longer. The base is no fortress but it does host quite the array of defensive batteries to ward off treasure hunters and invaders alike. Taking or destroying the base would disable these batteries, allowing for a proper invasion rather than the infiltration of a few teams and squads.
Objective 2: Chaos in the Library
The Library Temple of Krayiss Two has been restored and safeguarded by the Tsis'Kaar even before they revealed themselves so long ago, and as such it has served as one of their main repositories and storages for their esoteric and ancient secrets upkept by their Lorekeepers. Breaching into and securing the Library will be difficult but must be done swiftly, as Darth Strosius has reportedly been overseeing the extraction of key relics and databases from it. Take the library by any cost.
Objective 3: Ghosts with their Machines
The Tsis'Kaar have been relying upon their own encrypted communication network to coordinate their raids and movements since the start of the crisis. We have identified a relay station that has been used to coordinate their forces in old Sith Space and it has been deemed a primary target. Capturing the relay intact would allow our efforts in cracking the Tsis'Kaar's encryptions to gain some real traction and would disrupt their future operations in the area.

"The bombardments have already begun Darth Strosius!" One of the Lorekeepers of the Library Temple hissed as they strode into the hangar where Alisteri had been directing and coordinating the evacuation and extraction efforts. He turned from the scene of shuttles being loaded to face the robed Sith with his arms crossed behind his back. "Then they shall run up against our defenses as intended. We shall redouble our extraction efforts."

The Lorekeeper recoiled at the order. "And leave the library?! This place is sacred and-" "And is too close to the Kainites to hold. Our raids have done little to extinguish their war machine and I have no doubt that the wider Sith Order will want what we possess as well!" His shout surprised the Lorekeeper, and indeed surprised the Legionnaires and Squires working to load the archives and relics into the transports. "We will take what we can, what we cannot afford to lose, and we will let this world fight to the bitter end. Now get back to your post."

The Lorekeeper bowed and made their way out of the hangar, leaving Alisteri to turn back to the Wonosan forces before him. "All of you get to defensive positions. They know where this library is and will waste no time in sieging it. We can let the Lorekeepers continue the extracting, but we must buy them time. For the Sith!"

She could abide raids on Kainite facilities or forces. They weren't her own personal forces and Kaine honestly believed it helped keep his forces sharp and ready for battle if an ambush might come at any time from the Tsis'Kaar. She had, for some time, refrained from acting in the internecine conflict launched by the Tsis'Kaar against other members of the Sith Order. The Tsis'Kaar had never really penetrated her own power base for infiltration, perhaps it had been mutual respect between her and Ophidia or perhaps it was because her own power base understood infiltration and subversion better than most, considering how she had developed it in the past. Regardless of the reasoning, it had meant she had largely remained neutral...

But the new leader of the Tsis'Kaar had made a grave miscalculation in the last few hours.

It didn't matter to her if Alisteri or Darth Strosius was only deleting the archives and moving the knowledge into purely Tsis'Kaar hands, or so intelligence would be believed. It was still pillaging a library and the Lady of Secrets, the Dark Councilor of Science and Magicks, would not abide such sacrilege. Ripples in hyperspace would announce a task force from the Order of Arcane Syn consisting of a Shadowbind Interdictor, Delita-class heavy frigates, and Orran-class escort frigates. The dropships would be deployed soon after their arrival, carrying an assortment of forces led by Darth Arcanix herself. Soldiers clad in armor, Adepts of infiltration and assassination, and even colorless and motionless Mandalorians would be delivered by Vyraal transports near the obelisk and giant sand-pit that concealed the entrance to the library.

Silent, standing at the edge of the pit and looking towards the obelisk, was Darth Arcanix... and she was not amused. To the Sith perpetuating this unspeakable act to the Lady of Secrets, a telepathic message would slowly slide into his mind, "Time for us to talk."

As an opening demonstration that she was not playing around, and knowing as she did what lurked within the pit, taozin DNA or not, she reached out with the dark side to primitive and hungry mind of the Sentinel and grasped hold of it...

"Phase below," she ordered and the Geists she brought with her began sinking into the sand through phasing and teleporting.

Objective: Chaos in the Library
Post: 1

Darth Arcanix was not the only one infuriated the Tsis'Kaar were plundering a sacred library of the Sith for it's secrets. Darth Xyrah had long been an avid scholar of Sith history and a proponent for ensuring it remained accessible to the entirety of the Order, not hoarded needlessly. Shortly after Darth Arcanix had arrived, a large multitude of HMP Droid Gunships carrying squads of SB-X Droid Commandos, led by a single Sheathipede-class Shuttle, made landfall alongside her forces, the gunships quickly deploying their commando droids before taking off to provide aerial support against the enemy's defences.

From the Sheathipede emerged Darth Xyrah himself, garbed in a protective black bodysuit with his gold chromium lightsaber and shoto hilts affixed to his belt. He was flanked by six IG-X Magnaguards, garbed in ornate gold trimmed cloaks, who served as his loyal bodyguards and protectors, as well as his ever faithful creation and adoptive family member, Lucia Naberrie.

He swiftly approached Taeli with his retinue in tow, politely bowing. "Lady Raaf. My husband sends his greetings. I have come to render assistance in ensuring the library is not plundered of it's secrets by Ophidia's lapdogs. How might I be of aid?"

The task of breaking into the Library Temple of Krayiss II would not be an easy one.

However, in spite of her synthetic nature, it was a mission that Lucia Naberrie was uniquely suited for, owing to the capabilities of her new body and her skills as a gynoid assassin. As such, she had been assigned the mission of breaching the library and securing it, while also stopping those who sought to steal its secrets for themselves before they could elope. To that end, she had been brought to the planet with her master, Darth Xyrah, along with a retinue of IG-X Magnaguards.

“Master, I will warn you, if we can not pacify the Sentinel our troops may not be able to get inside the temple.” Lucia said to her as the interior of the shuttle lurched upon touching down just outside the sand pit. A few moments later, the hatch popped open and the gynoid followed Xyrah outside, pulling her shotgun from its place on her back as she did. All the while, Lucia watched as the Geists under the command of the Lady of Secrets began to phase into the sand or flash out of existence.

They were not the only ones capable of such feats.

“I am in position, master.” The gynoid said as her body’s singularity system was primed for activation, power being siphoned from her capacitors in the process.

Whatever she would face inside the temple, Lucia was ready.

Alisteri's stride along one of the many corridors of the library temple paused as a voice reached his ear, or rather went straight to his mind given that no one had audibly spoken to him. "Lady Raaf." He recognized the presence that sent the message and clenched his hand into a fist. Of course her master would show herself eventually. He would have rather had their meeting on his own terms but there was little that he could do to delay it any longer now.

He was pulled from his thoughts by his commlink clicking to life with a message as well, from one of the Sith Assassins guarding the entrance. :"Sensors indicate landings at the obelisk Darth Strosius, strong Sith and droids among troopers. Looks like some more...unique specialist units as well. Orders?": He sighed and tapped on his helmet's side.

:"All forces pull back from the entrance and seal off the doors. We'll draw them into the narrow passages to limit their numbers advantage and give the Assassins plenty of flanking opportunities. Unleash the Sithspawn into the entrance, hopefully that will keep them occupied.": Occupied was all that they could keep the invaders. Alisteri had been the first one to suggest evacuating the planet and especially the library temple, an unpopular but very apparent reality. It was too much of a target and too valuable to let it slip from their grasp.

Now all they could do was buy time and hope there was a gap in the blockade to get the library's contents out. He drew his sword and lightsaber as he strode towards the entrance of the library temple, the soldiers and Sith following his orders and sealing off the main entrance as they retreated to the more defensible corridors.

Hopefully nothing left on the shelves would be caught in the crossfire that was to come.

Xeykard wasn't sure if being placed in the vanguard was an honour or a threat.

Deployed first, alongside a few squadrons of marines. No air support, no armour, forty men -- take out the primary guns to clear the way for a comprehensive assault. Other teams had been deployed elsewhere, but his would be going through the front.

His paranoia had grown to untenable levels in recent months. Assassins first, deceptions next, meeting the Dark Lord himself... and yet, it rested on the foundational determination to never be caught off guard again, to never be betrayed. Fighting traitors today was almost cathartic. Almost.

Despite his fears, the Dark Lord had nonetheless provided him with some of the best equipment available. A few new stealth upgrades to help them get through the Tsis'kaar's outer sensor ring, new weaponry for his soldiers -- and, as was natural when ordered by the Dark Lord himself, a newfound loyalty and zeal in battle.

The platoon approached from the west side of the canyon, at first moving from cover to cover to avoid being spotted. Soon enough their cover thinned out, and they were in a mad dash towards the ridge, where three massive turbolaser batteries were lined up. With calculated fury Xeykard advanced, taking the first fortification. They erased a bunker, slew a dozen Inquisitorial soldiers, and pressed onwards with great speed. Dampener aerosol fired to the topmost fortifications covered them from above. Soon enough they were at the base of the wall.

Xeykard leapt up first, clawing and crawling up to the platform above. He took the head off one, the arm of another; by the time he was at the third, the first of his men had grappled up and joined him, scrambling for cover. The first steps had been easy enough, but the closer they got to the objective, the harsher the resistance. The more veteran Inquisitorial defenders found their nests, taking up position where they were difficult to dig out.

For the moment, the Sith regrouped his forces, pulling whatever boxes and supply crates he could into a simple perimeter as the rest of the platoon scaled onto the platform.

Darth Tormenta, a newly annoited title for a Sith who recently claimed the title through force of arms and strategy. In all reality, she probably could have gotten away with taking a Darth name sooner, but personally, she felt to many took the name before they had the strength or wit to back the title. Now she was doing just that, this was her first time goig into battle since claiming the title, and of course it was against other Sith. Self-destructive as ever, an eternal problem of the Sith, but she didn't much care. It weeded out the weeker among them, and kept things from stagnating. Her scouts had already spotted the forty solldiers being led by Xeykard. Slightly smaller than her, but his species had more natural bulk than Cathar, brute power alone wouldn't be enough.

Latte was with her on this mission, the cybernetic Lepi was the better infantry commader among her three Captains, and Zhardev was still recovering after the battle at Subterrel. The bulk and power of the warrior Hutt would have been useful here, but Latte's speed and skill was equally useful. She was leading group of twenty-five, while Khamesi had twenty-five of her own. Between the two of them and the Dragon's they had brought, they had 52 pirates. Their armor was lighter than that of Xeykard's group, but it was atmosphere sealed, with oxygen masks shaped lik dragon skulls if they needed them.

For weapons most of them carried the usual assortment, a mix of carbines, slugthrowers, and scattershots with cryogrenades, flash grenades, and concussion grenades. They didn't have much in the way of high explosives, they were trained for fighting in tight corriders, and had more experience assaulting fortified positions than defending them. They were fast, and brutal, but with their poor armor and different training made this delicate. Latte and her forces occupied one side of the canyon, hiding among rocks and crags that made the canyon wall. Easy enough to scale, but far from quiet to do so. Once they started moving, their positon would be obvious.

Khamesi and her troops, for their par, were lower down and on the other side, prone among the scarce vegitation. They waited till Xeykard's forces had started pulling together basic cover, with some still attempting to scale to their platform before a silent signal went out, prompting Latte and her troops to open fire. Their angle of attack made teh crates less effective but not useless as cover, and while they couldn't catch anyone climbing, if they finished they climb they'd be in caught in the open by the forces.

Khamesi waited patiently, her forces would only strike once both sides of the firefight were in full swing. Latte used her twin heavy pistols to keep a good firing pace, where the rest of her forces fired in bursts, conserving ammo by not wasting it on full auto. The slughthrowers held fire, waiting for the climbers, keeping only about half the group firing on the forces below, with the scatterguns sliding down from cover to cover, making it look like they were the strike force while the rest of the squad kept the enemy pinned. To be fair, they were, but it was only one part of the story. Khamesi kept herself calm, if she let her huger for battle grow to strong, Xeykard would defintely sense her and foil the attempted ambush. It wouls still not be ideal for his troops, but it would make things more...difficult.

As soon as she was given the cue to jump, Lucia winked out of realspace in little more than a shifting of dust and wind. A few moments later, the gynoid translated back into reality, emerging within a room of matte black stone, which was seamed with red crystals and gold lining.

Immediately, Lucia knew that it was the Court. Given her inorganic, synthetic nature, it was clear that a machine such as her had no right to invade such a hallowed space.

And yet, she had.

“I am inside the temple, master.” Lucia transmitted back to Darth Xyrah. All the while, within less than a second, her synthetic mind executed a series of calculations, simulations, and scenarios, attempting to compute how she might best engage whatever would face her inside the court. As she did, the gynoid processed the doors which led out of the room sealing shut—no doubt an attempt to contain intruders the likes of her. However, it was only then that her enhanced sonic receptors registered certain noises approaching her position.

Sithspawn.

As the Inquisitorial troopers on the platform fell, their opposition came from a new direction. The northern side's defenders fired down upon them. The legionnaires' shields held, for the most part, but they had few options for counterattack -- not at this distance, and from the low ground.

Xeykard roared, then signalled quickly with his free hand, the other with a tight grip on his saber, deflecting the enemy's shots. A few seconds later, smoke filled the platform, obscuring their position. Xeykard dropped down behind the boxes and focused his mind. Where previously his presence had been coiled tightly around him in a protective coat, it now expanded outwards, searching his surroundings for the enemy. Though he had a moment to breathe, he didn't waste time -- once he had a good idea of how many were on the north side of the canyon, he stood and issued his orders.

"More smokes in our path, and dampener aerosol. Give the slugthrowers to the best shots in your squad. Follow this one; we will get close."

More smoke filled the area. With little effort, Xeykard pushed it forward, rolling like stormclouds onto the enemy's position. The dampener aerosol mixed in reduced the blaster bolts to nothing but sparks in the wind, but the signature crack of the slugthrower rifles cut right through as the legionnaires advanced. It seemed they had the technological advantage; with the many sensors and targeting systems in their armour, the legionnaires found their enemies and fired with deadly precision.

Xeykard erased his presence, advancing as any predator might; in the silence and fear of the darkness and smoke, he cut a path through the closest of the pirates, his lightsaber a sudden flash of red before disappearing once more.

Turning her head to address Xyrah, even as her focus remained on the Sentinel creature, she replied, "I want you and Lucia to find any hidden bolt holes or hangar bays the Tsis'Kaar have. They know they won't be able to escape with their plundered knowledge through the main entrance, so there must be one. Find it and secure it. Ensure that no damage is done to the actual collection and half the Geists with you."

With her orders given, she returned her full attention to the matter at hand. The Sentinel was struggling against her will, but it was a pointless exercise. She was not called the Mistress of Monsters for no reason, and the Sentinel was not exactly the most complicated creation of Sith alchemy she had ever encountered. Merely slippery if one did not know it existed. It had outlived its usefulness.

"Umnirduarit!"

There would be a terrible shriek, both in the material and through the Force, as her sorcery tore the blood and body of the Sentinel apart in a sudden burst. The sands around the obelisk turned dark and ruddy with the creature's blood, and a lift of her hand and another word of the Sith language infused with her power dropped from her lips.

"Dradzia." The blood separated from the sand, flowing up into a liquid sphere crackling with the power of the dark side. Around her, the trooper of her Sorzus Legion and the colorless Mandos prepared their weapons. Taeli had little patience for the tests and challenges entering the library typically consisted of. She was sure the entrance had been sealed to buy the Tsis'Kaar time to accomplish their task. With a flex of her fingers, projectiles of blood charged with the destructive power of the dark side began rocketing from the sphere that was still collecting from the sands towards the obelisk and the concealed blast doors behind them.

They could always rebuild that section, she thought. An explosive force would hit the door... and again... and again... and again...

As the Gheists and Lucia began phasing through into the temple while the entrance was besieged, the hallways and doors within the depths of the temple would be sealed shut much like the entrance had been. Corridors were blocked off, entire sections sealed up, all just to delay the encroaching forces once they eventually made their way past the entrance. But of course the invaders would have to reckon with the second line of defense after the Sentinel had been murdered, the Guardian Court. This time the spirits were not alone however.

"This place is not for you." The thirteen spirits toned all at once in a chorus of voices as the first wave phased into their sacred hall. At the feet of their thrones, where they sat comfortably and arrogantly as usual, was a tide of angered and writhing beasts. There were three Terentatek, roaring in rage at the sight of the invaders and positioned near the center at the bases of the thrones. All around them were what appeared to had once been humanoids of some description but were changed and malformed.

Most appeared to be in advanced stages of Creeping Lignan exposure, all sense of self preservation lost to them as the began to rush at the invaders with frothing mouths and crystalline growths all along their bodies. Some even crackled with Force Lightning. The rest of the humanoids were less recognizable, being corrupted by strange parasitic limbs that had grown up along their bodies and left them frothing beasts that seemed solely intent on ripping apart whatever was in their way.

An army of Sithspawn filled the first chamber and the Guardian Court seemed all too pleased to watch the invaders be mauled and torn into shreds by the beasts.

Yes. Lucia silently agreed. It was nothing if not the truth, after all, especially for a machine like her. Regardless, the gynoid had a mission which she intended to execute, even if it meant violating ancient, sacred protocols. Such violations might very well be the least of the quandaries she would have to overcome in order to see her objective complete.

On cue, a trio of monstrous, hulking Terentek entered the Court, along with a group of mutated, corrupted-looking humanoids. She knew from her databanks that the former fed on the blood of Force-sensitives. In that regard, Lucia assessed that she held an advantage against them which the Geist Infiltrators lacked.

She intended to capitalize on it.

In a single, swift motion, the gynoid switched to her disruptor and snapped her sights on the closest of the three terentateks. Her shotgun was a powerful weapon, but she calculated that it would be inefficient for penetrating their thick hides. While the creatures were too big to disintegrate outright, her disruptor would be able to burn and vaporize through chunks of their hide with successive shots, before ravaging the flesh beneath it. Accordingly, Lucia unleashed a salvo of sea green fire towards the head of the now advancing terentatek, causing the monster to give an agonized roar as its crest, then the soft cartilage and brain matter beneath, was incinerated by the burning bolts.

With that the terentatek collapsed mid-stride, dead before it hit the floor. However, there was no opportunity for relief. A group of corrupted humanoids had closed the distance faster than Lucia had anticipated. One unleashed a burst of Lighting from their crystallized right arm. While the blast was intercepted by her energy shield, it created an opening for the others to charge into melee.

Before long, she was surrounded.

With a hand still on her rifle, a plasma whip sprang out of Lucia’s right palm, which the gynoid immediately swept it around in a pirouetting slash, striking a swathe of the charging humanoids. Suddenly, five bisected bodies collapsed in a circle around her, agonized cries tearing from their lips as they fell. Then, spinning around, Lucia fired on the Lignan-infected humanoid who had discharged the Lighting, vaporizing the afflicted creature in an instant.

Objective 1 - Counter Infiltrators
Xeykard Xeykard

_____________________________

Khamesi despised the feeling of each life snuffed out by Xeykard's counterattack, but if she moved to early their deaths would be in vain. For the half of her force already engaged, those with blasters ceased fire and instead started popping flash grenades into the smoke while the slugthrowers and scattershots pulled away from the fog, suppressing the enemy with the kinetic fire. The Scattershots would be devastating once the enemy got close enough, and Lepi swapped from heavy blaster pistols to a small automatic slugthrowers, it didn't have a lot of firepower, but it had a good deal of ammo and was easy to control.

Once the majority of Xeykard's forces, or perhaps all of them, were fully dedicated to the attack, Khamesi and her forces stood from hiding, the blasters gaining distance so any forces that left the protective smoke could be fired on, and her own slugthrowers adding their own fire to the mix. Khamesi herself ignited the blade of her saber, and let loose the full force of her power in a waving of stifling cold, quickly coating the ground with ice, and slowing the flow of the enemies smoke as the cold made it heavier, clinging it closer to the ground and slowing it's release from the cannisters. She could likely freeze them over entirely, but that would do little to the already released smoke, instead she opted to slow the enemy by freezing the terrain and air, something the lightly armored suits of her Pirates was already designed to take, given they were made for the cold black of space.

She held a cryo grenade in her right hand, her dominant left clutching her saber, and tossed it into the middle of the smoke, adding a burst of freezing liquid cold enough to freeze many organics solid if caught in it's blast. That was mostly a distraction, she wasn't bothering to sense exactly where her oppoents were, instead she was acting as a beacon for Xeykard to give her forces time to regroup as the smoke was partially mitigiated. Normally she might taunt adn call Xeykard a coward for targetting her troops before herself, but that would diminish their deaths, and she respected her troops loyalty and dedication to herself, instead the taunt was silent, another sith, a Dark Lady at that, stood to oppose them. Not responding would brand Xeykard a coward to his forces, and given the helmets of her soldiers recorded battle footage, to the wider order if he refused the challenge. A wicked smile crossed her face, it had been some time since she'd face a Sith in battle, maybe this one was worthy of her fists instead of her blade.

The air grew cold, and new blaster fire erupted. In a sudden burst a half-squad of legionnaires were frozen. Xeykard's blood, previously boiling, now made him want to coil up in the cold. He fought it, bringing the heat of his mustered rage to bear.

The smoke thinned enough that their new assailants in the canyon were visible. They'd advanced from the opposite side, pushing into the bottom. On Xeykard's end, his forces had managed to embed themselves in the positions previously occupied by the- pirates, perhaps?- enemy, and with the smoke fading they instinctively took cover by the rocks, standing and squatting over the corpses of their foes (and a few of their allies).

The Inquisitor snarled, taking cover by a rock where he'd just slain another. He thrust out a hand, metal-clawed fingers outstretched, and telekinetically tore the ice from his men's armour. They took cover as well, holding positions momentarily. He snarled again, then signalled; a silent order carried across to his men.

Immediately they switched their targets to the exposed enemy at the canyon's bottom, raining down blaster bolts and slugs, and thermals if they got too close. Even though a Sith was there -- his natural enemy -- he focused on finishing the job, moving to eliminate the remaining pirates on their flank to free their maneuvers.

Even exposed, Xeykard was deadly; he flitted from cover to cover, slashing through rocks to strike his enemies, the long blade of the lightclub reaching through their cover. Efficient as he might try to be, he still kept an eye on the Sith below, the focus of his legionnaire's fire.
