OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Group Name: Lorekeepers of the Sith Order
  • Affiliation: Sith Order
  • Classification: Researchers/Archivists/Sorcerers/Alchemists
  • Description: The Lorekeepers prefer information as their weapon and history as their shield. They gather tales and texts about the mysteries of the Force and those who wield it, regardless of whether this be from modern libraries or ancient archives They may appear studious, even harmless, but these keepers of the books and scrolls pose a danger few can prepare for due to their advanced knowledge of many finer arts and methods of wielding the Dark Side.
UNIT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Small
  • Unit Availability: Uncommon
  • Unit Experience: Trained
  • Equipment:
  • Specialization Function: The Lorekeepers specialize in information and knowledge regarding the Sith and the Dark Side in general. They are scholars and historians as well as adept sorcerers and alchemists, eager to claim new or obscure records or knowledge at every opportunity. To this end they primarily explore and protect ancient temples and libraries scattered across the galaxy, extracting all that they can from wherever they can until either their source of knowledge runs dry or they themselves are forced to serve somewhere else for one reason or another.
  • Force Abilities (Force User Units Only): Sith Alchemy, Sith Magic, Force Lightning, Telekinesis
Strengths:
  • Keepers of Lost Lore: Their duties in the recovery and archival of information and artifacts, particularly of the Sith kind, means that they have access to often rare or illusive techniques that their opponents may lack. The average Lorekeeper is a capable sorcerer as well as alchemist, although their specializations and preferences will typically lean more towards certain arts than the others.
  • Masters of Deception: Many of the Lorekeepers are skilled spies and infiltrators in their own right, having posed as common servants of fellow Sith before the Tsis'Kaar were revealed to the galaxy. By their nature the Lorekeepers are deceptive and secretive, often faking their own deaths just to throw someone off of their trail or to keep valuable information and relics out of enemy hands.
Weaknesses:
  • Web of Ignorance: After the Tsis'Kaar was splintered, so too were the Lorekeepers and as such their once expansive collection of knowledge and lore has now been scattered across the various sects. There are still some groups that maintain enough connections and ties in order to share their learnings but for the most part one sect of the Lorekeepers may have entirely different archives and records than the other, leaving little to no common knowledge in terms of advanced lore among them.
  • Far From the Front: While not entirely defenseless or untrained in matters of combat, the Lorekeepers are not meant to operate in combat situations and as such are often ill-equipped for direct confrontation. They are scholars, not soldiers. Infiltration and extraction as well as research and experimentation are where they succeed.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Years of hunting relics and artifacts, of planting informants in key locations, of safeguarding valuable knowledge as wars ravaged the galaxy, these were the beginnings of the Lorekeepers of the Tsis'kal. The oldest ranks of the Lorekeepers come from the days of the Sith Empire, many of them hailing from the Sith-Imperial Historic Conservation Society and the Kissai Priesthood that entered into the service of Darth Ophidia in one way or another.

While they initially served as normal in their roles, the fall of the Sith Empire and subsequent expansion of the Sith's enemies threw these organizations into disarray and dissolution. Those loyal to Ophidia eventually came together in small groups, relying on one another as well as the expansive spy network of their master to survive and keep up their mission of recovering and safeguarding the legacy of the Sith. As the Sith reconvened on Odavessa and declared the Sith Order, these groups would infiltrate and work together with the order, thus expanding their reach and allowing access to resources with which to continue their services.

However, following the events of the Sith Order's battle in the Askaj System, the Tsis'kal was formalized and revealed to the wider Sith Order and as such the Lorekeeper Union was formally organized into a proper organization. Spies and archaeologists, researchers and alchemists, sorcerers and infiltrators, Sith of all kinds pledged their allegiances to the Tsis'kal and were grouped into carefully trained and selected sects, entrusted with different tasks and knowledge to archive and store.

The Lorekeepers would serve the Tsis'Kaar loyally until the climax of the Ouroboros Crisis, when the organization was splintered by the death of Dark Ophidia and was largely divided into three distinct groups. Those who followed Darth Strosius, those who followed Darth Malum, and those who forsook their ties to the Tsis'Kaar and chose to find new masters to serve or indeed become masters themselves. While the majority would go to the two apprentices of their late master, the ones who left the sway of the now divided Tsis'Kaar were still significant in number and in importance.

Most were quickly inducted into service under new masters of various backgrounds and alignments while a good few would choose to declare themselves as Sith Lords in their own right and become more independent. Due to the various splinterings and fracturings the Lorekeeper Union was essentially dissolved, and more importantly it's grand archive scattered, into new sects of Lorekeepers that more resembled typical Sith sorcerer and alchemist cliques than anything else.
