CRY HAVOC

-A Message from the Chancellery of Unity-

The Zweihander Union was ready to expand, scanning through the multiple systems and sectors surrounding their own domain to find that one perfect place which was in need of their guiding philosophy, their irrefutable principles and their ever growing hunger and need for resources to fuel their industrial and military assets. After much debate and rigorous studies, the offices of the Left and the Right have decided to reach out our hand with an offer of peace and prosperity to the people of Volik.

They are a stubborn people, plagued through history by civil wars and general unrest, failed colonization, suffering centuries of instability and raidings from bandits and pirates. Yet, though we had hoped for their leadership to have the wisdom and courage to accept our well meaning offer, these wretches have spat in our face, preferring to continue their endless cycles of turmoil and discord.

Now we no longer wish to reach out our hand in peace, if they can't be persuaded with trade and commerce, we must bring their rapaceous bandit and pirate governments to heel by force. We will bring them Unity by force if need be. Thus you have been dispatched; our brave warriors. You, who represent the will of the state, the will of the people will sweep down upon this defiant conglomerate of disharmony and defiance and you WILL bring with you the durasteel hammer of justice and unity.

-Mission Briefing-

u5jOdev.jpg

Do not falter before these scattered and small groups, no doubt they will attack once you arrive in their aerospace. However, they do not possess our might, they are a loose coalition of tribes, small cities and outlaws. Crush any and all opposition before you in space, my Faithful. Let them know the might that we the Zweihander Union possess.
___

Be careful, oh brave warriors, for even if these people are scattered and divided, our arrival will most likely unify them in opposition to our glorious pacification of their planet. Intel has so far been able to recognise clusters of armed resistance near the Akriva and Jolee Falls, with further suspected resistance near mount Vorena. The terrain is covered with thick jungles, rocky crags and large open plains...be wary of ambushes and sweep away all opposition with your might.

Some people just do their own thing, even in times of strife and turbulence. Have at it, enjoy yourself and bring home the results of your efforts.

There in the vastness of space was a ship known only as the Sentience. It was Tranquility's new toy and often out and about helping the ISB's various operations. This time she was helping run several missions. Sure most of today would be the army and the navy, but there were important targets who needed to be taken out with more finesse. This was it, it was time to go. The ships burst into cloaked movement as if a on switch had been hit. Tranquility's control over the ships and the help of ISB Officers where things couldn't be automated the fleet jumped into action.

First the two squadrons of scarabs deployed, cloaking and circling the fleet in a protective formation. Then they began their maneuvers, the goal was to fire the 10 drop pods into the planet in planned locations, inside were the forces to take out defenses before they could activate. This was an surgical insertion. The fleet started a strafing run hidden from all but the most prying eyes fully utilizing their stealth capablities. Soon 6 drop pods were fired into the atmosphere and the Scarabs disengaged to provide cover as the fleet went back to join the approaching Zweihander Union forces. The war had started. The planet just didn't know it yet.

It was his first job since he got out of prison and to be fair it was one of the easier ones. When he'd heard that The Union was actually making plans to assault one of his old stomping grounds, Zachariah first thought he should cut ties with the various bandit groups on the planet, after all a dead partner isn't worth much to anyone. Then there was another thought to come into his mind. Why cut ties when he could make one last profit off of these clowns? The Red Talons were a larger bandit gang that camped out on Volik. They were a wild bunch too. Fighting them on their territory was like walking into the lion's den. With a person on the inside it turned a suicide run into a plan worth something.

The Red Talon Camp was embedded in a lush part of the planet, hidden by a canopy of trees and hundreds of wild life to throw off bio-scanners. It had it's weaknesses, one being that the camp itself was no iron bunker. It was actually just a number of decommissioned freighters welded together to make an ugly ass lean-to of a camp. The Talon's were resourceful but far from tasteful.

Zachariah had been sitting in the cantina section when the alarm went off. It was a loud pitched wine that caused Zachariah to pinch his eyes shut in agitation. The gang members around him rushed from their seats, running out of the room. One of them, a pale yellow Zabrack with a generous gut yelled back to Zachariah. "Let's go Zach! We've got trouble."

Zachariah stood with a feigned start but the moment the hall was cleared he exhaled. "
Idiots." He down the rest of the bourbon he'd been drinking before tossing the glass down onto the ground. The sound of footsteps impacting the decommissioned freighter's hulls eventually faded away and Zachariah pulled a small transceiver from his pocket. He whistled softly before activating the tiny device, before dropping it in one of the empty glasses that sat on the bar.

"Let the fun begin." He said, before adjusting the god awful scarlet jacket he'd been wearing and making his way out of the room.

The fleet began to jump into the system, weapons warming up and engines engaging full throttle. The heavy cruisers were in a staggered line, flanks protected by the smaller frigates and fighters. Corvettes shot ahead and fell back rapidly, gaining full sensor scans of the area surrounding their fleet.

Chris began to walk the length of his tank, checking every seal, bolt, and connection even though the maintenance crews had already done so countless times. He was in his full carapace, his helmet clipped to his belt, and ever movement whined almost inaudibly with the strength his suit provided. He sighed and wished that the heavy tanks were ready for deployment, but for now a Flint would have to do.

It was time of the giants to walk Volik.

"All ships prepare for assault. Fighter Squadrons stand by for launch. Interceptor Wings please await further orders" the deep robotic voice of the protocol droid demanded results. And he received them. One by one every gunner, department head, and engineer reported to the bridge as did every other warship within the Open Circle Fleet.

The first ships of the fleet to exit hyperspace were the Achilles and her escort cruisers. Directly behind them, the rest of the Hellfire Armada pieces space like sleek black daggers. However, it seemed the Fleet Admiral was not the first nor was he the last.

<"Commander Remex, adjust trajectory and enter our formation."> Vice Admiral Azari Hiroshima began issuing future orders to the force already present. No mistakes would be made today. There would be no loss of life to pirate scum.

"All forward positions are advancing, Fleet Admiral. Likelihood of victory is 89.99%." The Protocol Droid was too obsessed with numbers for Tristan's liking. Too dependent on odds and not strategy nor tactical evaluation. "Good. Very good. Order the *Grand Enforcer to provide cover fire for our bomber runs. The fifth fleet jumped out of hyperspace. "Prepare fighters." He frowned when he saw he wasn't the first fleet the arrive. "Blast it, they've beaten us to it again." Officers rushed around giving orders, it seemed the enemy hadn't attacked yet but they would soon. "Deploy fighters on my command, await orders from Fleet Admiral Evore." His captain nodded.

"Fleet Admiral Evore, Admiral Maverick is awaiting orders." Azari's cold glare had a strange effect of the Seven Foot Tall Anazati - Epithnex Hybrid. It made him feel...uneasy. "Order the Seventh Fleet to press the attack." He had confidence in the various large fleets to have arrived.

Eldoc woke up to the shaking of a drop pod, there were some other people, or at least one other, He might not be seeing straight. The hazards of good drink. Taking payment to put some bandits to rest from the creepy computer lady seemed easy. She didn't mention that he was going to be locked into this tin can until they launched. It was the shaking and rocking from their entry into the planet that woke him up. He was glad that he had at least passed out with his seat belt on. That would of been terrible.

It was time to fight and earn his keep. He was hurting for funds and for once hadn't found himself frozen for thousands of years so at least he seemed to have broken that cycle. However Life never seemed to be easy. The impact while absorbed was still a lot and as the door opened he ran out his green light saber lit as he stared at the defenses in front of him. This was one of the few places with defenses in place capable of taking out the attacking force. He heard a siren and suddenly he was fired at. It seemed that the landing had not gone unnoticed.

Eldoc smirked as he jumped towards the oncoming squad. Spinning and agile dodging their shots while reflecting fire what he couldn't dodge. He began to cut them in half with the blade of light as he jumped into their group. The smell of burnt flesh filling the air and reminding him the downside to using this weapon. He curled into roll and landed standing up and already cutting into the group of men he was inside. It was a massacre and just the start. He needed to disable these machines by putting some data chip into the computers. The machine lady was oh so specific on what he was allowed to do and not allowed. Thankfully she didn't limit his combat. He smirked as he saw another group. It was going to be a fun day.

”Now hear this men… we have drilled hard for the past few weeks and I promised this would be the chance to prove yourself and what this new fleet can do for the Union. Be brave and strong, make me proud and the rewards will be plenty, fail… and I will leave that up to your individual imagination.” Charles cold monotone voice faded away as he steepled his fingers. The countdown towards the exit from hyperspace was being read aloud to him by one of the officers on the bridge. To be honest he never normally used something as blunt as fear to be a motivator to get his men to do what he wanted, but it never hurt to sprinkle a little on top to remind him to what he had done to the first officer who tried to serious question him… before he had even made a single mistake in the matters of managing the fleet. The skinned alive corpse was enough to put nightmares in the mind of the top brass who saw it… Charles had been very careful to hide it from the lower ranks. Since that day though… his treatment of the men had been such to win their respect rather… quickly, though he still had a ways to go,

”Commander, the moment we drop out put me in touch with Tranquility when we drop out and ask her if she needs anything from me. Oh and if she knows where might be able to snatch up the best morsels from R&D and Intelligence to share between us. We don’t want anything useful to escape between our collective fingers.” As the man was about to depart Charles turned in his chair and added, as a last thought not wanting to forget to do his part to help out the fleet that had arrived before them. He was slightly late on purpose to allow himself the freedom to go exactly where he wanted and was needed… it gave him the freedom of command. He had noticed in Fleet exercises how busy others could get in the heat of battle… including himself,

”Send a message to Fleet Admiral Tristan as well, and let him know that the Tomb Fleet is ready to assist wherever you need us, within reason of course.” The Commander knew the Sith well enough to know what the hollow laugh that followed meant. Offer Tristan help, but don’t give a hint that it would on the male’s whim as he had other more important objectives to complete. Not that the completion of said objectives wouldn’t benefit the operation, but… Charles goals were above that of the fleet as he saw them. As the countdown neared its end he gave a single statement, ”Tell all ships to assume formation Alpha Delta Foxtrot… deploy Omega Theta Fighter cover until I say otherwise, and keep them in a tight defensive formation around the Tomb Fleet…”

The communicate was passed along, though he didn’t expect it to go like clockwork, such movements would come with experience. As the ships dropped into real space taking up their position it wouldn’t be Charles himself who passed along the message to the Fleet Admiral, but an Ensign on a secure channel, “Sir I have been asked to pass along the message of the Tomb Fleet’s arrive and its Commander’s wish to let you know that we are ready to help where you need us.” As for Charles himself, he had more important business, as he personally contacted Tranquility on his own secure channel, ”Oh Tranquility dear… tell me how goes the battle? Have you found anything interesting for us to snatch up? Better yet how is the Fleet handling things? Have they secured the space around the planet or is there any area where a sudden stream of fresh ships would… crush the enemies of the Union… and maybe get me some new toys.” The Sith spoke to the AI like he always did… rather causal and relaxed no matter the business. Despite being an AI... she was still a woman... and woman always tended to have a certain effect on Charles. Tranquility was no exception to this though he was a bit more subtle about it... given the nature of their day to day task.

Tranquility was amused, This man knew what and who was important. She began crafting a response. Data streams of locational data of the entire planet and sector began to pour into the feeds on Charles ship. She had been here scouting before the battle began and he had asked, so he got the data first, she then fed the same data to the rest of the fleet through normal procedures. She had mapped enemies and ships and numerous other layers depending how detailed the analysts wanted to go. It was easy for her but harder on humans to do things with large amounts of data.

"Charles, It is nice to see you in your natural element. I have uploaded all I have, including what should be high priority targets, Please note there are already agents on the ground. Shall my fleet join with yours? We aren't much use when not observing or infiltrating but I am sure the surprise effect of our fleet should come in hand. Please note that they have what looks like some sort of research facility on the station over there and the following ships seem to have unusual readings."

That done Tranquility's fleet joined up with the tomb fleet, Staying in cloaked status, and the fighters that weren't already cloaked and out were ready to launch at a moments notice. Tranquility worked in whatever formation Charles was trying to form, instantly forming to suit his commands, she wasn't an Admiral, she had more important things to pay attention to. She was keeping data flowing and monitoring the Union's data.

Lako stood up from his bed. His room was small, but he was in a war ship nevertheless, so there was not much need for big rooms.
The Abdenedo was feeling strange, he did not know if it was nervousness or excitement that he felt. probably a mix of both since it was the first battle he would be part of.
The chancellors had ordered him to be part of this in case there was any leader willing to make peace or discuss the terms of surrender.
Should there be no one willing to cooperate, his trip would have been in vein as this was his only purpose.
After wandering through the ship and watching the different types of soldiers get ready for action, he decided that it was time for him to check on the progress of the mission as he started to get bored.

"Prepare to fire all Megamaser Batteries followed by continued fire by our Hypervelocity Cannons. Instruct all ZuEric Destoyer's to activate thier interdictor fields. There will be no escape"

He heard the Fleet Admiral order as he stepped in the command center. This was a busy place as order and reports where coming in and out, to coordinate the assault.
Lako moved next to the Admiral and saw him work, waiting for him to have a break in the action to talk to him.

"Fleet Admiral, do you have any reports from enemy leaders willing to discuss terms of surrender?"

We would wait patiently for a reply as he understood that the human was busy.

It was always the same, wasn't it? When Zachariah braced his forearm around a man's neck they suddenly felt an immense need to matter, to live and see the galaxy another day. The bandit's eyes fell down on the young human as he kicked and writhed in the larger man's grip. He was a young member in the gang, maybe seventeen or eighteen. His name had either been Kennet or Kellet, but Zachariah couldn't remember for the life of him. It didn't take long for the kicks and flails to slow to a complete halt. The larger man exhaled, dropping the fresh corpse to the ground before glancing down either side of the hall.

He wasn't exactly sure what the boy had been doing in the hall, but when he question Zachariah about why he wasn't getting to the speeder bikes, Zachariah didn't feel like concocting a decent lie. Clapping his hands together to free them of the sweat that pooled from the man's skin, he turned back down the hall.

"There should be a..." He trailed off when he passed by the part of the freighter that had once served as the ships reactor. "Perfect." He muttered before stepping inside of the room and closing the twin door's behind him.

"Lets have some fun..." He said.

Red sat in one of the drop pods a part of Tranquility Tranquility 's fleet. With him in the drop pod, sat multiple soldiers and operatives, ready to deploy. Red wore his standard armor, with his helmet already on. He had his multiple assortment of weaponry, and was ready to go. All he was waiting for was for the pods to launch. His mission was to deploy to the surface and take out key defenses before the battle would begin. Red would be good for this assignment, he usually ran missions like this, often with no reinforcements, and sometimes no extraction, but he managed to find a way to complete the objective, and get out. Their mission would be to infiltrate and sabotage an encampment of armed resistance, which sat hidden right in the jungle. This particular group of resistance was fairly large, and even had star ships that could fight back against the Zweihander Union fleet.

He watched as a couple of more troopers climbed into the pod, then the doors closed behind them, sealing. The light inside turned red, and Red felt a lurch and heard the pod releasing. They were deploying now. He felt the pod fall down towards the planet's surface. Red strapped himself in, locking himself securely. He felt the shaking of the pod as they entered the atmosphere. Red checked his weapons one last time. He saw the other soldiers in the pod doing the same thing. He looked out of the view port, watching the other pods fall towards their destinations. He saw the sky fly past them, and he could see the ground far away, approaching fast. He heard the thrusters kick in, slowing their descent. Then, he felt the thump as the pod hit the ground. Red unlatched himself and got up, with the other troopers doing the same.

The doors opened, and they exited out. Red went out first, moving into the jungle. There were two other pods near them, with other troopers also getting out. It was night time where they were, and the darkness would provide them with better cover, but the same could be said for the enemy. They would have better chances for ambushes and traps, but Red would be able to spot those out with his enhanced investigation skills and sight. He activated his commlink and sent out a transmission to Tranquility. "Red, reporting in. We've reached the surface, and have regrouped with two other pods. Any extra orders before we carry out the mission?" He asked.

Rustbuckets will never go out of style.
Leenic strapped himself into the drop pod, multiple squads of soldiers were crammed into their seats beside him. "You boys ready?" He said to the ones closest to him as the last of the troops strapped in. "Born ready!" Said the one closest to him. Leenic looked back up at the light near the door, waiting for the signal. It remained Red for a couple more seconds before flashing green. "Hold on to something!" He shouted. Then the pod deployed, hurtling towards the planet's surface. There were explosions all around the pod, anti-aircraft artilery was shooting at them. "You think we'll make it?" Said the soldier closest to him. "Yeah, its a good thing these guys ca-" Leenic was cut off mid sentence by a chunk of his pod (and a couple soldiers) being blasted off by one of the artilery rounds. "Maybe I spoke too soon, kid. Brace yourselves!" He shouted as the pod came crashing down into a small swamp.

A seconds later, Leenic's eyes fluttered open to a cracked visor and a couple dead soldiers hanging from their seats. "Well that's pleasant." He muttered, unbuckling himself and standing up. He heard a groan nearby and saw the soldier he had been talking with. "Still with me kid?" He said, kneeling down and unbuckling the soldier from his seat. "I think so." Said the soldier, looking at Leenic. "But I can't feel my legs." "Great." Was all Leenic said before grabbing the shoulder straps of the man's chestplate and slowly dragging him out of the pod and onto a muddy island in the swamp. "Hello? Can anyone read me?" He said into his radio. Hearing nothing in response other than static, he shrugged and changed to the emergency frequency. "To all Zweihander Union forces, this is Leenic Elsil. My pod got hit on the way down and crashed a few kilometers from the main target. I have a man down and am in need of immediate medivac. This message is set to repeat." He then sat down next to the soldier and drew his pistol, checking it for any damages. "All good sir?" Said the soldier, using his arms to prop himself up on a rock. "Yeah, I'm good." Then Leenic holstered his pistol and looked at the man, chuckling slightly. "And, you ain't a shiny anymore."

The two ships that comprised Fleet Angiris would further swing the tide of the battle, turning the ZU assets in the system from merely awe-inspiring to utterly overwhelming. Even as the Fighters, the Bombers and the Frigates were deployed, Imperius swung around, briskly walking towards the Hades’ Oathkeepers , some of his most trusted men, as he prepared for the cute little op he had planned. Imperius and his men would be using a specially outfitted TTG1, modified to sneak past scanners and escape the senses of those who fought in the orbit, or those who looked up from the ground.
The ZU was a glorious faction, and Imperius truly believed in its goals as well as the hopes of its members. At the same time, however, this sort of revolutionary light was often crushed by the forces of those who wished to see the Union undone- those who had fallen too far, done too much. And So, Imperius would don the role of the armour to the Union’s warrior, Darkness to the Union’s light. He would go to extremes that others would consider unthinkable, act in a manner that would revolt most. To quote an individual he had read about in a book, “They are the leaves bathing in the sun, I... am the roots that grow in the dark.”
In an unmarked dropship, armed with weapons available in the Volikan Black Market and dressed as the men who claimed to be patriots and defenders of Volik, Imperius and his men would land near and massacre a village that just happened be quite near a major settlement; and of course, there would just happen to be a few survivors who would live to tell the tale of how the Volikan warriors were nothing but traitors, killers and rapists. News would spread, and by the end of the day, these patriots would be exiles on their own planet, and the Union would be welcomed with open arms as the saviours of Volik. How...exquisite.
A sudden lurch of the landing craft announced to him that they had made it to the planet-side, and Operation-RottenCore could now be put into effect. For the sake of precaution, he himself had also left behind Solarion and his golden armour, but he did have a regular sith lightsaber tucked away in his boots- just in case, as they say. Even as he streamed out of the craft with his men, blaster shots took out the nearest unsuspecting civilian, and the smell of spilt blood sang a song of sorrowful misery; as if the Planet itself cried at the approaching massacre.

The commandant corvettes weaved between the friendly drop pods, enemy fire streaking past. They landed in a clearing and dropped their assault ramp as the ships' weapons tracked back and forth, searching for targets. Chris heard the transmission from his commander's seat as the Flint rolled down onto the ground.
"Driver, advance to hull down" Chris said into the microphone and then switched to his force's comms, "I need another Flint, two sparks, and 3 platoons of infantry to follow me. Get me a Brazier to my position once I ping you." The vehicles moved forward towards the distress transmission, commanders using their built in electromonoculars to peek from their armoured hatches.

As they left the main landing zone the jungle immediately came alive, blaster bolts forcing the tank commanders to slam their hatches shut. Chris peeked through his periscope "One hundred meters, directly ahead!" he yelled into his comms. While the armoured vehicles were proof against most weapons continual fire would drain their shields and weaken their armour if they had to engage anti tank weapons or enemy tanks. The turret swivelled and shot a burst of coaxial laser fire into the trees, striking someone who loosed a desperate burst of blaster fire into the air. The combined fire of multiple tanks and APCs tore through the trees, sawing down plants and enemies before Chris called a cease fire.

Now would be the hard part.

Red then heard a transmission over the emergency channel; it was Leenic. Red immediately contacted Leenic, as Leenic was a member of Task Force 66, and Red was the commander of the group. "Leenic; Leenic come in, do you copy? I hear you. Reinforcements are coming, I see where your pod fell, I'm on my way over to you. They nodded and replied with a "Yes, sir!" and followed after him. Red moved towards Leenic's pod, with the three squads in tow. Red watched as the reinforcements landed and started moving out. He watched as they moved through the jungle, headed to the target. Good, they had reinforcements. Red and his squads moved towards Leenic, reaching the swamp. He noticed the pod, and the dead bodies. He saw Leenic and the other survivor on an island. Red motioned forward, and he and the troops moved through the swamp, towards the island. They reached the island, and got onto it. Red approached Leenic as a medic tended to the other injured soldier. "Hey Leenic, what's up? Certainly an exciting way to start the day, isn't it? You're lucky you're still alive, you know. Though I'm glad you're still alive, you're a good fighter." He said to Leenic.

Then, Red heard sounds of fighting in the distance. He turned to it, he could see the bright light explosions and blaster fire. He turned back to Leenic. "Are you still good to fight? We'll need all the help we can get." He told him. The medic administered bacta to the injured soldier and turned to Red. "He'll be fine soon, but for now he needs rest, and we should get him to a medical bay." The medic told him. Red nodded. "Alright, you stay with him, and signal for extraction. We'll continue on to the objective." He said. They would need to connect with the main force, and then coordinate their attack from their. Or, they could sneak in from the back, and attack from there. Red turned to Leenic. "Ready to fight once again?" He asked him, ready to head off towards the fighting.

Rustbuckets will never go out of style.
Leenic smiled at Red when he saw him, almost giving his friend a hug when he saw him. "Howdy Red! Nice to see your boys made it down safely. Mine, well, didn't" he gestured toward the pod. "But, the kid that did survive has a get out of combat free card. And, besides, a crash landing seems to be how I normally arrive on these jungle planets now. Just so long as there aren't any dragons I think we will both be fine." At the sound of blaster fire he pulled out his pistol and looked over at Red. "Is that even a question that needs to be asked?" He said, running towards the combat. "Race you there!"
