"A Knight is not measured by the glory he claims, but by the oath he keeps when all else has failed. We are the Indomitus Legion - the sword carried beyond Vandemar's walls, the shield before its throne, and the judgement brought against every power that would stand above civilisation."

The Indomitus Legion is a knightly order dedicated to restoring unity, strength and purpose to a fractured galaxy. Drawn from volunteers from any world; recruits, veterans and warriors alike, its members are forged through brutal trials, sacred oaths, and cybernetic enhancements into Indomitus Knights: crusaders bound by duty, discipline, and an unbreakable brotherhood. They are not merely soldiers, but inheritors of a martial tradition that places service above self and the future of Order above all else.

Within the Legion, warriors live, train, and fight as one. Shared hardship creates bonds stronger than blood, while ancient traditions, heraldry, and codes of honor transform individuals into members of a greater whole. Behind this unity stand hidden circles of commanders and keepers of secrets, guiding the Legion through shadowed wars and unseen struggles that few beyond their ranks can comprehend.

Across the galaxy, the Indomitus Legion wages an eternal crusade to expand Imperial influence, destroy corruption, hunt dangerous Force cults, and bring order to worlds abandoned by failing powers. To allies they are steadfast champions, to enemies relentless executioners, and to the Hegemony they are the sword without hesitation and the shield without doubt, an unyielding force marching beneath the Crescent Sword towards a stronger future.

Lore Sub: Indomitus Legion

The Lex Valoris
We are Indomitus.
In darkness, we bring light.
In silence, we bring judgment.
In mastery, we bring victory.
Our loyalty is to the Hegemony, our will to the Hegemon.
We are the sword without hesitation, the shield without doubt.
Through war, we bring order.
Through strength, we bring unity.
We are the edge of His blade - unyielding, unbroken, eternal.
The Lex Valoris is the central tenet of the Indomitus Legion, its sacred vow and testimony to its purpose and loyalty. Every Knight is defined by its words, by its meaning but does not abandon reason, conscience or the self to uphold it. It is a doctrine, a mantra, a verbatim, but it is not a religious code. The Legion serves order, the Knight serves order and the Lex Valoris defines that service.

Every Knight that has finished its trials, they will swear the Lex Valoris and receive their Indomitus Anointment. From then on they will be able to call themselves Azir, the Vandemarian equivalent of Sir.

The Hepatzir
The Heptazir are the Seven Orders of the Indomitus Legion. They are central to the identity and martial discipline of each individual Knight, each Knight belonging to one of them. The Legion will compete with vastly different, very experienced, massively large, cunningly versatile enemies across the Galaxy and beyond, to combat these effectively, the Heptazir provide various battle and war doctrines to have the proper skills for the battle ahead. Every Order has a different specialisation and while a Knight has an overall strong versatility to it, the Order they belong to will deepen the understanding of an aspect of warfare.

But while the frameworks are permanent, a Knight's journey is not statis nor purely vertical. A Knight, if showing certain skills, can transfer to a different Order, can be called from an Order to another or remain in one their entire life because that is their skillset.

Of Banners and Hosts
The Indomitus Legion primary operational organisation is the Host. Each Host is commanded by a Grandmaster and is a semi-permanent operational unit that can in full force respond to threats or campaign as they need to. When a full host goes onto campaign, it is generally referred to as a Crusade and adopts a name of a commander, theater, planet or similar to designate itself. Once the objectives are achieved, the Crusade will dissolve but the Host may remain.

Where the Host defines strategic deployment and operational organisation, the Banner represents tactical flexibility. A Knight Banner is the standard, battalion sized tactical unit of the Legion and also the smallest unit the Legion will send on campaign on itself. Commanded by a Banner Master, a Banner is composed of several companies that are composed of Knights from different Orders. Theoretically every Banner is able to respond to most threats independently, but they can be reinforced from various elements across the Heptazir. A Banner is always named after the Banner Master, so Banner Master Vitellion leads Banner Vitellion - there is no numeration among Banners.

Crusades
The Indomitus Legion is devoted to the Hegemony's ideal of order, civilisation and stability. It is an ideological military unit based on volunteers and the promise of comradery and a place of belonging. It is a unit of singular purpose.

While Vandemar follows a non-interventionalist stance in terms of sovereignity of systems, opposing any form of acquisition, conquest or interference in local politics, it does support the support and aid of like-minded movements, organisations and states. Each such campaign is called a Crusade and typically performed by a Host but can also be taken up by a single Banner.

Crusades have clear, limited objectives that correspond with Vandemar's policies and ideology. Each Crusade will have to receive a mandate from the Palatine Council to be approved, it requires the assignment of a commander of Lower Command or higher rank and naturally it has to be in compliance with the ideology and doctrine of the Hegemony.

Force Users and the Legion
The Indomitus Legion is one of the two exceptions in the Hegemony from maintaining a formalised, separate Force Order. Yet it is always under supervision and also does not offer different doctrine or ideals for its members. A Force user will not even receive a separate rank than an ordinary Knight.

The Hetaeron Order of the Heptazir is the smallest of the Seven Orders and responsible for the training of Force Users and their fielding alongside of common Knights. Their specialisation is almost purely devoted to the counter of other Force users, artifacts, beasts and phenomena that are related to the Force.

The Indomitus Anointment
Together with the Lex Valoris, the Indomitus Anointment is one of the two central elements of becoming an Indomitus Knight. It as much an honourary ceremony as it is open heart surgery and the final trial for the Unanointed.

An Indomitus Knight will face extreme adversaries in their life. From alchemically altered beasts, to stimmed cyborgs, Force enhanced warriors and twisted artificial intelligence. To be able to survive and combat these enemies, a Knight does not have to solely rely on their extensive training - the Legion provides them with vast improvements.

Its research project name is Black Celestant, but it is commonly referred to as the Indomitus Anointment. A suit of cybernetical and biological upgrades that enhance the individual beyond ordinary physical capabilities. Speed, strength, resilience, reflexes, mind capacity are all increased to give the Knights not only a fighting chance, but an edge against many opponents they will encounter.

AURIC CHAMPIONS

"The Twin-Suns are not a mere symbol. They are fire and steel, purpose and devotion, blood and sacrifice, honour and tradition made manifest. They are the beacon that lights our path, the flame that burns away our enemies."

The Auric Champions are a successor of the legendary Sun Guard, a mercenary company that follows in the footsteps of the elite Thyrsian special forces and culture. Under the symbol of the Twin-Suns the mercenaries fight with an equal amount of honour, pragmatism and tradition, taking up contracts not merely to earn money, but also a reputation for reliability, principles and professionalism.

Among mercenary bands there might occasionally exist a sense of honour, maybe even goals or ideals, but other than with the Mandalorians, there rarely exists a culture that forges its members into warriors. The Sun Guard did so, under the auspices of Thyrsian legacy, they became sellswords only second to the legendary fighter of Mandalore themselves.

In recent history the Golden Company and Thyrsian Hierarchy continued the legacy of the Sun Guard and now the Auric Champions under their leader Uriziel will pick up the banner to honour the memory.

Sunforged Legacy
The Twin-Suns dominate the heraldry of the Auric Champions, but it goes beyond a simple coat of arms. Gold is the chosen colour of the company, fire the element of choice, close combat the quality every Auric Legionary is striving for. Members of the company will receive standardised armour and equipment, they will be drilled and the principles of the Auric Champions branded into their memory.

In the heat of battle, their legacy is honoured. In the fires of war, honour is forged.

Order of Battle
The Auric Champions are nominally led by two Solar Imperators, one of which is the founder Uriziel . Below them are Solar Legates, each in command of a Legion, Solar Tribunes, which command a Solar Cohort and Solar Centurions, who command a Solar Century.

The Solar Century, with the exception of the individual Auric Legionary offering its services, is the smallest unit which can be contracted and is composed of up to ten Auric Legionaries.

Vacant until otherwise stated is the rank of Supreme Sun Guardian, above the Solar Imperators. They would be the ultimate warrior and leader of the Auric Champions just as in the old times of the Sun Guard.

Contracts
Currently the Auric Champions are looking for contracts of any sort. They are looking to test their mettle in combat and prove their worth and reliability.

Exempt from Sith, the Auric Champions will accepts offers from any patron that wishes to hire their services.

Campaign contracts require limited objectives for the company to properly evaluate their pay.

The Auric Champions are devoted to honour each contract forged and will not break it. They will also refuse to accept a contract from the last opponent they fought against to prevent retaliatory contracts against previous patrons.
