- Dart: Just as it is designated, the Trench-class is a very fast and maneuverable ship, and on top of that has a sizeable armament that makes it hard-hitting for its size.
- The Best Defense: The entire design of the fast attack corvette centers around its speed and maneuverability, and the Trench's defense is more centered around its small size as well as its speed and maneuverability, making it difficult to hit with heavy-hitting anti-capital weapons in the first place.
- Vulnerable to Damage: The Trench-class has substandard defensive potential, a result of a majority of systems being diverted over to armaments and propulsion. This means that while it is fast, light, and heavy-hitting, it is not able to tank a lot of incoming damage.
- Lack of Complement: Lacking any fighter complement, this compounded with the fact that the Trench-class has little in the ways of defensive weaponry means that the Trench-class is vulnerable to starfighters.
The Trench-class Fast Attack Corvette, the latest iteration of ship designed by Roble Manufacturing for the continued modernization of the Confederate Armed Force's Navy, is a departure from their usual design philosophy when it comes to previous corvette models they have designed. While ships such as the Terrus-class focus on fleet support and point-defense, the Trench-class instead aims to be a fast, hard-hitting attack corvette.
Both the corvette's offensive and defensive potential is located in the speed of the ship. Powered by powerful ion and precision sublight drives, the Trench-class can accelerate rapidly. Combine this with its small size and high maneuverability, and it creates a tiny dart-like ship that is extremely hard to hit. The Trench-class capitalizes on this by outfitting the ship with hard-hitting armaments, meaning it can serve in a hard-hitting, hard-to-hit offensive role against capital ship targets. However, this is done at the expense of extensive or even standard defensive systems, meaning that it cannot suffer much damage before it will be destroyed.
Altogether the Trench-class Fast Attack Corvette is a ship that will shake up naval compositions and tactics and be a valuable addition to Confederate fleets.
