OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a stealth shroud for the closed market.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Ship electromagnetic emission simulator.
  • Ion and energy emission shroud.
  • Thermal radiation distorter and shroud.
  • Thrust-trace dampener.
  • Dual photonic emitter and spectral diffuser.
  • Particle-beam scatter projector.
  • Random-frequency-static emitter.
  • Transmission broadcast shroud.
  • Sensor Masking System.
STRENGTHS
  • Sensor Shroud: The Oberyn is designed to counteract virtually any sort of sensor, with the potential to leave a ship virtually undetectable by scans.
WEAKNESSES
  • Visual Detection: For all of its anti-stealth capabilities, the Oberyn is not a cloaking device, and thus cannot hide a vehicle or ship from plain sight.
  • Physical Detection: If a ship equipped with the Oberyn is struck by a stray asteroid or laser blast, the impact would not be concealed by the shroud, meaning that the ship's location could be given away. This does not apply to micro-meteoroids or extremely fine space debris that is common in high-traffic areas.
DESCRIPTION
The MXC-T22 Oberyn Stealth Shroud is perhaps one of the most advanced stealth technologies to every be created by Roble Manufacturing to-date. The shroud is designed to essentially conceal a ship from every means of detection, bar visual, and physical. Although it is not a cloaking device, the shroud is able to use a variety of different technologies to mask a ship from detection by sensors, which gives ships with the Oberyn equipped the potential to register virtually invisible under the enemy radar -- which is to say, not register at all.

Equipped with technology such as an electromagnetic emission simulator, ion, and energy emission shroud, thrust-trace dampener, and random-frequency-static-emitter, the shroud is designed to allow ships to operate normally without having to fear from sensor detection. Theoretically, a ship could operate under full burn, but an Oberyn shroud would ensure that the ship is not detected by scanners.

The Oberyn also features an advanced sensor masking system; the shroud passively monitors the sensor conditions approaching from any vector towards the ship and automatically re-emits these signals instantly on the other side of the ship. The re-emitting of signals fools sensor scans into seeing a single and uninterrupted section of space, which allows ships quipped with the Oberyn to operate extremely close to sensors and scanners without being detected.

While all this anti-scan technology is great, the Oberyn is still not a cloaking device; this means that 'detecting' a ship with the stealth shroud equipped with being as easy as looking out the window, provided that the ship be nearby. Ships with the shroud equipped still have to be conscious not to impact anything, as a collision with an asteroid or laser bolt -- while being detrimental to the structural integrity of the ship -- also would not be concealed by the stealth shroud, giving the position of the ship away for any alert scanners.

Despite that, however, the Oberyn is still an extremely effective and advanced stealth shroud that would be vital to any ship angling to have any sort of stealth capabilities.

Okay, so this is a very powerful stealth device which is fine given that you've used the semi-unique production scale. I just want to emphasize that semi-unique is understood to be only a few units made, likely only a dozen or less. So long as you ensure that this tech is kept to that scale, I am happy to approve this.

APPROVED.
