- Locked and Armed: Unlike the standard model of the hauler, the Miscreant Gamble is outfitted with a large number of weapon emplacements that surpass the capabilities of standard warships of its class.
- Hauler: Although it is modified, the Miscreant Gamble can still haul an impressive amount of cargo in both its hold and is towed behind the ship through the use of energy clamps and tractor beams, as well as its impressive realspace and hyperspace speeds.
- Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: The Miscreant Gamble is able to hide and conceal its armaments if needed, passing off as a standard civilian hauler. In addition, anti-sensor bandorium coating and an MXC-T22 Oberyn Stealth Shroud give the ship the potential to pass unnoticed through sensors and scanners.
- Lack of Streamlining: Although it is outfitted with modifications, the Miscreant Gamble is still built along with the chassis of an OPH-FH5 Wayfarer-class Hauler, meaning that many design elements that would be typically found in a mainline military frigate are not found on the Miscreant Gamble.
- Transition: The transition between uncovering and protracting the armament of the ship is not instantaneous, which means that an ambush of the Miscreant Gamble while its weapon emplacements are retracted would result in the ship not being able to fight back for a moment while its armaments protract and come online.
- Taking up Space: When retracted, the armaments of the Miscreant Gamble take up space inside the ship, meaning that if the operator wishes to retract the armament from the hull they cannot fill the cargo holds of the ship to full capacity.
The personal ship of the Nomad, the enigmatic and mysterious leader of the Ophidian Dusk crime syndicate, the Miscreant Gamble is a modified OPH-FH5 Wayfarer-class Hauler. The most accurate phrase to define the Miscreant Gamble is a 'Loth-Wolf in Nerf's clothing,' a common Outer-Rim phrase for deception. Indeed, the Miscreant Gamble is built around deception. At first, what seems to be a generic hauler seems harmless, but once its armaments are protracted onto the hull, the ship suddenly becomes a frigate that outclasses most standard military ships of its size.
The Miscreant Gamble was initially constructed as the prototype for the OPH-FH5 Wayfarer-class Hauler, built over the pounding waves and roaring seas of Ando on the Trawl. Even after the haulers began to be produced en-mass, the Nomad kept the prototype in the drydocks and secretly ordered the installation of retractable armaments, turning the innocent hauler prototype into a full-fledged military frigate. It was finished and was dubbed the Miscreant Gamble, becoming the personal flagship of the Nomad and the Ophidian Dusk crime syndicate. Able to pass through heavily-monitored star systems unsuspectingly, it is the perfect ship-of-choice for the leader of the crime syndicate that prefers to hide in plain sight.
Sure, it's a risk. But the Miscreant Gamble is one that the Nomad prepares to win.
