  • Jedi

Hiro Okuomoto never knew his home, never knew his family. Born on Corellia to an Atrisian immigrant and his wife, a native, Hiro’s sensitivity to the Force was discovered by the New Jedi Order, and he was taken as an infant to the nearby Jedi Temple on Coruscant to train.

His years as a padawan were unremarkable, but as he began to come into his own as a Jedi Knight, it was then that his talent began to show. He was an expert with the blade, wielding it as if it were an extension of his own body. He fought with the Lightsaber not as if it was a weapon, but a brush that he painted with, each strike from his lightsaber a stroke on the canvass.

Jedi Master Okuomoto’s skills were so great that many considered him to be a likely candidate for the next Battlemaster of the New Jedi Order if that position became vacant. But Okuomoto’s curiosities outweighed his ambition. He wished to know the true nature of the Force, how it came to be, and why it had chosen the galaxy, why it had chosen him.

And so he traveled to the place where he knew the Force would be the strongest.

    The Nether World.

Okuomoto spent years in the Nether, and what he found their unmade him. Broke his very being and shattered his lightsaber. Yet he was also reforged there with new knowledge of the Force.

    He was reborn.

    The Nomad

Okuomoto shed the name that he had been given at his birth. As far as he was concerned, Jedi Master Hiro Okuomoto was no more. In his place was now the Nomad, a title he had christened himself for one who wandered between the traditional paths of Light and Dark.

The Nomad had learned that the Force was not divided by Light, nor was it by Dark. No cult or religion could hold claim to the teachings of the Force, for the Force was with every being, every plant, every rock, every atom that made up the universe. To ascribe oneself to a linear path was to ignore the true nature of the mystical power they held claim to.

And so the Nomad shed his titles, shed his robes, and shed his Order. He would no longer be a Jedi, nor would he follow any other creed or Order but his own.

He reforged his broken lightsaber, with its shattered crystal, into a weapon of unparalleled power; the Sinner’s Ruse. He shed his morality, for he did not have any duties to a Force that was ambivalent, indifferent to that of the galaxy. Light or Dark, it did not matter, for it was the same. The Nomad would only answer to himself, and he set that out as his new creed. He would further explore the bounds and mysteries of the Force, not beholden to any code of righteousness or duty.

But to do such a thing, he needed credits. He needed ships, he needed tech, and he needed influence. And so he set about doing the one thing that would most easily grant all three; he created the Ophidian Dusk crime syndicate.

People were drawn to his carefree attitude that had developed with his new sense of freedom. Drawn so, that they agreed to work for him. They took the Ophidian Token and pledged their service to his will, and in this way, he slowly began to draw power. But what he gained from the most was a meeting with an up-and-coming businessman by the name of Alban Roble.

For some reason, the Force had led him to the corporate leader on Fondor. And for a good reason, it seemed. The young magnate was in a spot of trouble with a recent investment on a deep-sea rig on the ocean world of Ando. The Nomad offered to buy it and a position for Ophidian Consolidated, the corporate front for his syndicate, as a subsidiary of Roble. The offer was too good to pass up, and the two reached a deal.

Roble Manufacturing got the money and the tech built by Ophidian Consolidated. And Ophidian Dusk got all the resources of Roble, as well as an actual headquarters from which they could base their operations.

Now, the Nomad begins on his enterprises to better understand his connection to the Force, using the power behind Ophidian Dusk for his own profit and gain. For as his title suggests, he is still not beholden to anyone.

He is the wanderer between the Light and the Dark. He ascribes to no path, and to every path.

    He is the Nomad.
