STRENGTHS

• Doppelganger: Kai is able to make himself resemble anything from an Ewok to an Epicanthix while fooling all but the most thorough of medical examinations; he can even produce facsimiles of clothing or equipment, though nothing more advanced than a fancy sword. He seems to have trouble coming up with totally new and unique forms, however, preferring to imitate others instead.
• Hyperadaptable: The apex of adaptability, Kai is able to modify his body on the fly to suit his circumstances, including but not limited to surviving in most atmospheres, breaking down all but the most insidious of poisons, growing long claws or vicious teeth, and generating potent toxins and strange acids within his body.
• Apex Predator: Devilishly fast and almost as strong as a Wookiee, Kai makes for a ferocious opponent, though he will rarely fight unless forced into a corner.

• Regeneration: Kai has considerable regenerative potential; sufficient to stop bleeding in battle or even regrow entire limbs, albeit with days or weeks of feasting - preferably on meat - and intense concentration.
• Mind-Eater: An innately telepathic creature even before he was turned into a Sithspawn, Kai is able to "feed" on the thoughts of others - when done with care to avoid harming the person in question, it can allow him to slowly assimilate knowledge and skills alike; more aggressive feedings are liable to cause brain damage or even "drain them dry", leaving either an easily controlled "husk" or a corpse with distinctive brain damage.
• Break the Cutie: Kai's childlike nature, while a definite hindrance, also seems to hit people right in the empathy button.

WEAKNESSES

• Mind-Eating Sithspawn: Released into the wild shortly after his "birth" by the Sith alchemist who turned him into a monster, Kai soon discovered his ability to consume the thoughts and memories of other beings... and swiftly fell prey to its incredible addictiveness. It's rare that he totally loses control and devours someone's entire identity and consciousness, but it has happened before. More than once, unfortunately. This ability also affects his sense of identity, as he gains the memories (and sometimes, the desires) of others through feeding.
• Electricity: Ironically, despite having been born from lightning, Kai's new form has a weakness to electricity, which can impede his ability to shapeshift among other things.
• Damned: As a Sithspawn, Kai is an innately Dark Side being and can be gravely harmed by Force Light, Electric Judgement, and other Light-oriented Force powers. However, while his nature may influence him, pushing him towards the Dark Side, it is not the deciding factor in his still-developing sense of morality. He does possess a Dark aura, but he hides this by wearing a dispersion charm.
• Just a Kid: Despite his rampant consumption of other people's thoughts and memories, Kai retains the emotional maturity of a child. His grasp of concepts ranging from morality and ethics to social cues and etiquette are quite limited, and he doesn't know much about the galaxy or how life works. He also tends to be pretty gullible, and will quickly latch onto whoever is willing to offer him guidance.

• Loud Noises: Kai has a phobia of vibrations, including those produced by sound waves - to the point where he is afraid to vocalize in anything above a whisper, preferring telepathy as his main mode of communication. This is a psychological weakness, not a physical one; his original body was made out of pure crystal and was quite fragile.

Impossible Hour - At the request of a fictional hero, Kai leaves the ruins of the Temple to hunt down escaped Azrael Asylum inmates. Things go wrong, and he gets knocked out. COMPLETED

Alpine's End - Kai chats with Damsy during a day of mourning. Dag shows up. Kai yaks to him about Danika and his new Golden Starbird. The trio narrowly avoid an argument because Damsy is distrustful of Dag, but not enough to refuse to trust him (???). Kai agrees to help save displaced people and kill monsters. A fun time was had by all. COMPLETED

A Flash in the Dark - Kai fights off mutants in the lower levels of Coruscant, assisted by Iris Arani and Valery Noble . COMPLETED

Healing Waters - Kai is discharged from the hospital and meets Iris again following the events of Flash in the Dark. COMPLETED

Study Buddy - Kai meets with Iris again. He helps her overcome her hesitation in lightsaber combat. COMPLETED

Chaldea Or No Deal - Kai returns to Chaldea in order to speak to Jorn, asking him about the two mysterious Sith who attacked him and Kai's guardian, resulting in injuries that may have shortened her lifespan. COMPLETED

Cleansing Fire - Kai helps Aeris defend the Temple of the Kyber on Jedha, fighting Danika yet again. COMPLETED

Hearts on Fire - Kai and Aeris burn a body in the woods. After learning that Aeris plans to leave and travel, Kai turns his tear into a diamond crystal for her new lightsaber. COMPLETED

Through the Fire - Kai goes back to Jedha and encounters Darth Solipsis of all people. COMPLETED

Misplaced - Kai and the Jedi gang rescue enslaved refugees on Ponemah. Unfortunately Kai is both tasked with creating a battle meld between all the Jedi, and he is paired up with Jem of all people. Things quickly go downhill from there. COMPLETED

Hakuna Rakata - Evil Kai from the mirrorverse makes a meal out of a random woman. COMPLETED - SINGLE POST LMAO

Where It All Began - Kai attends a Jedi meeting on Peace, a cool space station. ABANDONED

Captain's Orders - Kai and Iris get captured by pirates. COMPLETED

Baby Don't Hurt Me - Kai visits Iris in the hospital after the events of Captain's Orders. COMPLETED

A Visit to the Reef - Nimdok and Vaslav visit Kai and Claudia at the Reef. Damsy has a chat with Nimdok, who clears up a few misconceptions about the Force and asks for her help in providing a safe haven for Shi'ido refugees. COMPLETED

For the One Who Has Everything - Kai and co get infected by weird caterpillars which cause them to experience a simulation of their hearts' desires coming true. In Kai's case, he lives out a timeline where he was never kidnapped by Messala, and instead made the willing choice to become human rather than Sithspawn. He even gets to become a Jedi, and nearly achieves his dream of becoming Dagon's apprentice... but it's at that point that the spell is broken, as he realizes it's all too good to be true. He then helps others escape their own simulations, including Claudia - discovering secrets and establishing a mental link with her in the process. IN PROGRESS

Vertical Migration - Damsy returns with a new A/C, unaware she is being followed. Kai has a mysterious conversation with Erictho in which she makes him an offer. IN PROGRESS

Spoils of War: Boz Pity - When a navicomputer malfunction turns their beach vacation into a struggle to survive in former Bryn'adul territory, Kai, Claudia, and Ax encounter a witch with designs for the Sithspawn. Ax is killed when the group is attacked by Bryn'adul zombies, and Kai falls deep into the abyss. IN PROGRESS

Fount of Power - Kai, Damsy, and several other Sithspawn travel into deep space to investigate a mysterious being who may be a Sithspawn. Kiber Dorn , a creation of the late Darth Prospero, is a living Dark Side nexus with the power to corrupt all who linger in his vicinity. With tensions and tempers running high, will the Sithspawn deem Kiber too dangerous to live? IN PROGRESS?

The Precipice - Kai shows up to a Jedi meeting via hologram. His connection is interrupted by Ishida, who demands to know why he is "pretending" to be a Jedi. After he informs her he is a real Jedi, she apologizes, says she won't try to kill him again, and leaves. He turns on the holocam only to find the meeting has adjourned in his absence. COMPLETED

There's a Song About This - Kai, Iris, and Kyric deal with shenanigans at a diner. COMPLETED

A Very Alchemical Life Day - Life Day celebration at the Reef. Kai meets "Dar'jetii", really Darth Metus . COMPLETED

Sand, Meet Sea - Kai encounters a man whom he believes to be responsible for Gerda's death: Arcturus Dinn , a former Sith Acolyte turned vagabond due to misfortune. The two converse, and Kai asks him if it's possible to revert his Sithspawn status. Arcturus tries to give him a hopeful answer, but Kai determines it is impossible, then tries to arrest him. They briefly fight and Kai is knocked unconscious by sleepy pocket sand. COMPLETED

Coruscant's #1 Tourist Destination, According to Some Reviewers... - Kai visits a bar with a rooftop view that is supposedly the best on Coruscant. There he meets fellow NJO Padawan Lief . The boys agree to a sparring match, but Kai winds up going too far and breaks Eli's nose. Ashamed of himself, he leads Eli to the medbay, then flees. COMPLETED

It's a Fig - Kai and Iris meet on the roof, and things get heated. After sharing a kiss, they have a disagreement, and Kai breaks his friendship with her before leaving in a hurry. COMPLETED

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea - Kai has a heart-to-heart with Damsy. IN PROGRESS

Balance Point - Kai goes to Ilum to help out the NJO. He attempts to talk to Dag, but is rebuffed. Hangs around for a little bit, learns about the Order's battle plans? IN PROGRESS

What the Student Learns - Kai regresses back to a primitive state on an unknown planet, encounters the Je'daii Master Asha Hex. After conversing with her, he agrees to come and stay on Tribunal Station, the Je'daii space station, with no strings attached and the freedom to leave whenever he pleases. COMPLETED

Guilt and Kindness - Aboard Tribunal Station, Kai receives a message from Juno Sabat , a Padawan friend of Iris', and learns that something happened to her. COMPLETED

OOC NOTES​

• Kai can look like anyone, but can't stray too far from the human form. That said, the way he moves (when not deliberately imitating someone else's movements) tends to be pretty uncanny. He doesn't walk so much as he slinks around like a cat, hangs from the rafters like a spider from a web, and slithers through tight spaces like a snake. He is all animal grace and elastic flexibility.
• The manner in which he expresses himself is where the childlike aspect comes in. He has "guileless blue eyes" and "the easy smile of an infant". He can't regulate his emotions very well and (unfortunately) wears his heart on his sleeve. The descriptions of his "grapple" being connected at his navel like an umbilical cord are an echo of that "newborn monster" horror theme he was first introduced with.
• As previously mentioned, he can speak, but not above a whisper. His telepathic communication is often accompanied by him gesturing and emoting like a mime/space Italian. It probably looks funny, make fun of him for it all you want.
• Like most of my other shapeshifter characters, Kai struggles to forge his own identity rather than simply mimicking others. He's reached a point where he is finally starting to copy bits and pieces from many different sources rather than ripping any one thing off wholesale.

CONNECTIONS​

• Dagon Kaze - Jedi who rescued him, shared a brief psychic link (?) in which they saw some of each other's memories. To say that Kai was profoundly affected by the experience would be an understatement; in a way seeing Dagon's memories and Jedi ideals "civilized" him. He has been emulating Dagon ever since, including mimicking his appearance, which Dagon does not like because it reminds him, painfully, of his twin Aeric Kaze . As time has passed and Dagon has appeared to be avoiding Kai, his opinion of his rescuer has... not necessarily soured, but he will probably express sadness whenever Dagon is mentioned.
• Aeris Lashiec - The Jedi Temple librarian. Aeris mistook Kai for Dagon when they first met. After learning his real identity and about his past, she took an interest in him and has been supplying him with books from the library. Kai is very fond of her and considers her one of his closest friends. More recently, she has become an unofficial mentor/master to him.
• Damsy Callat - Like Kai, Damsy is a Sithspawn rescued and brought to the Jedi Temple by Dagon. They share an automatic kinship because of their nature. Damsy is older and has far more life experience than Kai; their relationship is more akin to that of a mother and child. Damsy even lets Kai refer to her as "Mom".
• Kal - A wandering Shadow whom Kai encountered at the Temple. While initially friendly toward each other, friction soon began to develop between them. This worsened during their second encounter, with Kai finding Kal obnoxious at best, hateful at worst. Since they are or were both born as spiritual beings, Kai can't help but see himself in Kal, and his low opinion of the Shadow has more to do with being disappointed in him than anything specific Kal has done to Kai.
• Ishida Ashina - A Jedi who once tried to kill Kai - and nearly succeeded. She seems to have calmed down toward him since then. He may have even earned her respect for having survived a duel with Solipsis.
• Michael Sardun - Ishida's master. He also tried to kill Kai, blasting him with Force Light.
• Creuat - A Jedi Knight who hunted Kai when he fled to the underworld following his encounter with Ishida and Sardun.
• Xashe Tistya - Rhis' apprentice. She accompanied him on the hunt.
• Yula Perl - Dagon's girlfriend and fellow sort-of Jedi. Kai met Yula by chance while he was hiding in the Coruscanti underworld. She mistook him for Dagon and the two struck up a conversation over a mysterious bag of spice. Apparently Kai still looks a lot like Dagon - from behind, at least.
• Jacen Nimdok - Jedi Master and professor who tried to help Kai and failed spectacularly at it.
• Claudia Aylmer - A fellow Sithspawn who is bound to a wheelchair. She and Kai bonded over the fact that they were both victimized by the same man. Claudia teases Kai mercilessly, but is also fiercely loyal and has quite the crush on him. Kai likes and is protective of her, but wishes she was more independent. The two of them have a bad habit of feeding off each others' negativity, but they can also prop each other up with positivity. It works both ways.
• Worrarg - Known to Kai as "Forerunner", Worrarg is a Sithspawn who looks like a giant man-eating bird. He is ignorant of social graces, and thus can be very blunt.
• Amelia Venthyra - A Jedi (of sorts) whom Kai met on Nar Kreeta following an incident involving an escaped rancor.
• Yenna - A Jedi Knight who was briefly slated to become Kai's master, only for the Council to switch Padawans at the last minute. Kai liked Yenna, but it simply wasn't meant to be.
• Bernard of Arca - A Jedi Knight who chased a Sithspawn for stealing. Kai threw a bowl of Atrisian food at him, then stole his hair color.
• Danika Leventis - A Sith Lady who broke into the library and attacked Kai and Aeris. Overall not a very nice person.
• Saan'an Gaelor - A Jedi Padawan apprenticed to Aeris. Brother of Jem Gaelor.
• Jem Fossk - A Jedi Padawan who tried to climb the Kyber Arch with him. Kai dislikes Jem immensely, and the feeling is mutual. He finds her incomprehensible, rude, brash, arrogant, and aloof, not to mention borderline impossible to work with.
• Darth Solipsis - The leader of the Brotherhood of the Maw, and the self-proclaimed Sith'ari. Kai dueled with him briefly on Jedha. He survived only because Solipsis was distracted by his "daughter" and left in a hurry.
• Iris Arani - A Jedi Padawan who befriended Kai. Easily distracted, not very bright, and with a tendency to freeze up in stressful situations, Iris often appears helpless to Kai, who feels compelled to save her from her own incompetence. He's been trying to teach her to not be so scatterbrained and panicky. In turn, Iris has been trying to get Kai to open up more. Recently Iris confessed that she was in love with Kai, who was unsure of his own feelings. They wound up having a falling out.
• Briana Sal-Soren - A Jedi Padawan who shares a master with Iris. Kai has met her at a few group functions, but they've never really talked one-on-one.
• Valery Noble - Iris and Briana's master. Kai's interactions with her have been limited, as she went into hiding shortly after they met. He respects her as a skilled fighter.
• Alina Tremiru - A Sangnir and former (?) Sith who wound up at the Reef. She is very reckless.
• Kahlil Noble - Some dude Kai once met on Coruscant.
• Senari Gravis - A Jedi Master whom Kai delivered a message to. Potential master to Kai?
• The Battalion - A Sith witch who tried to help Kai and his friends when they became stranded. She tried to convince Kai to give in to his nature, but Kai steadfastly refused.
• Lief - A fellow Jedi trainee whom Kai met during a mission to pick up a stranded Sithspawn. At the time, Eli was part of the crew of a smuggler ship; he later joined the NJO. Kai offered to spar with him, and Eli accepted.
• Kiber Dorn - A Sithspawn who suffered greatly at the hands of his "Creator", Kiber was found drifting in open space. He was taken in by the Sanctorium, though his nature and intended purpose - Kiber serves as a living, mobile "battery" radiating with the Dark Side - had a profoundly negative influence on Kai when they first met. Kai pities him, but he also will avoid him at all costs in the future due to the sheer danger of his mere presence.
• Kyric - A friend (?) of Dag's and a member of the Alliance Marshals. Interesting fellow, likes pizza.
• Darth Metus - Introduced to Kai as "Dar'jetii", he is a Mandalorian and kin to Damsy.
• Velok Brokentusk - A fortune teller Kai encountered on Tatooine.
• Arcturus Dinn - One of two people whom Kai held responsible for the death of Gerda, his guardian. Kai encountered him by chance and recognized his face. Posing as a patron of Arcturus' shop stall, he asked him if there was any hope of restoring a Sithspawn. While Arcturus did try to be helpful and offered options, Kai refused to accept and of them, and grew hopeless. He tried to arrest and/or kill Arcturus, but failed.
