OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create yet another spawn of the dark arts. Meant for some creative fun and storytelling.
  • Image Credit: Hunt of the Direwolf by cobaltplasma
  • Canon: N/A
  • Links:
    Bwarg
  • Rekr
  • Tuk'ata

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Warghest
  • Designation: Non-Sentient
  • Homeworld: Belkadan (The more mountainous areas)
  • Language: N/A
  • Average Lifespan: 30 Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: Large, bestial and noble canine. Quite un-bothersome to the average outland settler but can be easily tamed by those well versed in such an art.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average height of adults: 1.6m (5.2ft)
  • Average length of adults: 3m (9.8ft)
  • Skin color: Pale
  • Hair color: Dark, and abnormal pigments can cause splotches of white.
  • Distinctions: Large quadrupedal canine with a long and bushy tail. Sharp, tapered ears, and a pointed muzzle filled with frighteningly sharp fangs.
  • Races: N/A. Packs in differing geographic locations tend to develop thicker/thinner fur and fur tones depending on the climate.
Strengths:
  • [+] Predator: The Warghests are large beasts with thick hides, sharp fangs and claws, and a penchant for tearing their prey asunder with their plethora of natural weapons. Speed and strength are a given, but they're nothing special in those regards.
  • [+] Tamable: Due to their fabrication, they were created with a secondary purpose to serve. Even those who are not force sensitive could possibly tame one of those large and noble beasts.
Weaknesses:
  • [-] Underbelly: Their hide is far thinner on their underbelly than anywhere else. It's also often noticed by the lower density of fur here as well.
  • [-] Noble: This is an uncommon trait among Sithspawn. They are not hellish creatures bent on devouring all life, they're simply a genetic amalgamation of various DNA and spliced with Sith alchemy. Their tendency to spare the weak, young, and wounded have created many rifts between them and their typical dark riders.
  • [-] Mentalism: An inherent weakness born of their creation. A byproduct of alchemy has left them with a rather easy-to-exploit vulnerability in the Force. Their minds are blank canvases just waited to be painted upon. Confusing, startling, and tricking these beasts with the Force is extremely easy.

CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivorous.
  • Communication: Howls, barks, yips, and snarls.
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior: The Warghests are nomadic pack animals. Typically roaming the wilds in packs of a dozen to nearly thirty Warghests, these noble and regal predators live their lives fairly peacefully and contentedly. Hunting down big game, nursing their young and howling at the moon during the night. They're not often reputed to bothering the settlers of Belkadan nor are they famed for being overly aggressive. They're simple creatures who live to hunt and roam the wilds.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

These creatures were created nearly three decades ago by a young, wayward Sith alchemist. Unnamed and unknown, he was determined to craft the perfect warbeast for his sovereign's use - a sort of tithe to his lord in exchange for his re-acceptance to the order. And so, this dark geneticist scoured the galaxy in search of some of the most lethal canine predators to date. His results came in the form of the Mandalorian Rekr, the Bwarg of Effekt, and the ancient Sith Tuk'ata.

He traveled to Belkadan in search of a home for his creation to-come and found it in the form of outland settlements dotting the mountainous regions of the world. It was there that he learned a life of simplicity and solace, learning from the farming communities and those that herded cattle to and fro. Conservative family values, a lust for life and travel, and even love postponed his development of his intended warbeasts.

The man soon found love. The found peace and comfort in this lifestyle, hidden away from the constant war and strife that so plagued the galaxy. Slowly, he began to reject the ways of his former lifestyle in exchange for the comforts of love and labor of the soil - and he lived contentedly for years to come.

However, this changed when that damned war struck once again. Flashes dotted the skies at night, the silhouettes of star destroyers and warships filled the upper atmosphere with flashes of cannon fire and starships burning out of existence and crashing onto the world itself. Just as destiny had planned, that exact wreckage would crash into the community he had come to love so dearly. Flames and rubble wrought the settlement, cries of mercy and prayers filled the night air as did his own.

He lost his love. He lost his children. He lost the folks he'd come to trust with his life - all in the blink of an eye.

The aftermath of the battle saw only a few dozen survivors picking at the wreckage, burying the dead, and beginning to pack for a treacherous journey across the land to another settlement. But the former alchemist was not going with them. If he had one more thing left to do before he did: finish what he started.

Hate and malice fueled him to take up a practice long dropped. He took back to his vials and burners, back to his preserved extracts and DNA, back to his test subjects. He wanted a creature that would kill, rend, and destroy. However, the thoughts of his family tore him away from the fabrication of such an unholy beast meant for war.

What was he doing? Why was he doing this?

It mattered not. He needed to leave something in the galaxy before he left it.

And so, the result was the Warghest. A predator of unrivaled power, speed, and strength. Though his thoughts were not full of anger and hate, the echoes of his dying family found themselves in the creation of the Warghest in the form of a sort of regal nobility: a respect for life that didn't deserve to end, leaving the weak and young alive, and a lust for the wilds and their mysteries.
