The explosion made Choli's heart stop and a icy chill immediately ran down her spine in fear.

"Trextan!" the pilot cried out in alarm, her eyes going wide as she saw him hit the landing gear through the viewport. She saw him crumple and every instinct screamed at her to leave the cockpit.

Then, thank the ancients, he moved. By then the last civilians scrambled aboard and Trextan dragged himself onto the ramp behind them.

Chit, chit, chit!

Without further ado, Choli slammed the actuator and the ramp groaned as it began to close. Immediately, Choli's hands flew back over the controls.

"Hold onto something!" She called out in warning, and in the next second the Sunfire launched forward; her repulsors screamed as Choli hauled them away from the landing pad, crimson bolts chasing them into the smoke. She kept them low, moving the salvaged boat by weaving through refinery towers until the ground fell away and Thyferra's burning skies opened before them.

Only then did she hear someone over the internal comm say Trextan was alive. Choli closed her eyes for half a heartbeat.

"Idiot." There was far too much relief behind the word, exhaling hot breath with a woosh. The next second those color-shifting eyes flew open fixing upon the stars beyond the battle. Without futher ado Choli punched their escape vector into the navicomputer.

"Sunfire to any Republic forces listening, we have evacuees and wounded aboard. We are getting the hell out of here." As the ship cleared clouds and atmo, the hyperdrive indicator flashed green.

"Next stop, anywhere but Thyferra." She muttered under her breath as her hand grabbed the levers. Then as she cleared a path, Choli pulled. Within the next instant the stars went stretching into brilliant white lines as it jumped into hyperspace.

And then Sunfire was gone.

"We need to get to your sister," Aurelian said, his voice dropping into a sharp, focused rhythm. "I have her exact location, but the airspace is crawling with Sith fighters and the drop zone is going to be hot. Can you handle getting us down there in one piece?"

"I can, that's my word." Elian voiced, his eyesight issue, hadn't dappened his spirits, he still trained in his spare time when handling vessels. And the fact that he built them, just increased his knowledge overal.

"Gather the rest of the guard, we have business groundside. I will summon what Abrantes Guards we have as well." Elian spoke to the second in comman of the Kingsguard. "Let's get going, whomever is coming."

He led the way to the hangar, as a ship was being prepped. He climbed aboared, firing it up, all systems were good to go.

"Everyone hold on, this could get a little rough."

Quinn slowed her steps till she stopped. She had heard Sibylla's falter, slowing down, and whatever was plaguing her, whether it be fatigue or horror. She let the woman talk, her words finding a place deep in the Echani's empathy. She wasn't wrong about Quinn hating all of this, hating everything that, at times, the Sith represented. They were often considered a plague upon the galaxy, swarming and destroying everything in their wake.

But they were still home.

Maybe she wasn't brave enough to go against what she knew; maybe some part of her disliked the discomfort that came with change. Quinn tilted her head as she mulled over her own thoughts as the brunette behind her rambled incessantly.

Claims of humanity, of compassion, everything, all to save the skin of someone else.

She looked down at her own communicator and began adjusting the frequency. She was prepared to rescind the order, to turn their hatred on her for changing and showing weakness.

But she stopped.

Her hand froze, still holding the device.

She played back the woman's words and huffed in amusement. Her hand fell, and she didn't bother looking back towards the Republic Representative.

"You misunderstood what I meant." Her voice was laced with a sudden coldness that Sibylla had perhaps never heard. Quinn was done. She was fed up with how things were executed on Thyferra, on Abregado-Rae, and with listening to the mewlings of the woman behind her on top of it.

"I'm not asking why the Sith attacked Thyferra; I know why." Quinn looked out at the destruction and devastation that her kin had done.

"I won't insult you by saying that everything done in this conquest was justified. I'm not stupid; I know what the Sith… what they do."

She sighed softly; part of her regretted being unable to follow through on her foolish attempt. Quinn had wanted to see something different, to understand something unlike her own environment. But Quinn knew how stupid it was now that she thought about it. Her naive nature, born of the Blackwall's protection and her mother, made her think something better existed.

There was not; there were only monsters who knew they were monsters, and monsters who pretended to be human.

"My question was to your government." Quinn turned to face her finally, her eyes finding the doe-like gaze of her enemy.

"Why did the Republic possess something capable of reaching into the Force and turning it off?"

The words came sharper now, honed by something far more visceral than anger. She hated the Republic; she hated the Jedi; she HATED her foolishness for believing their way might be right.

"Stop mistaking my refusal for helplessness. The order was mine." Quinn didn't look away from her.

In that moment, Quinn finally accepted her role in all of it. She accepted every death carried out at her command. She found herself hoping — praying, even — that her people had stained their hands with the King's blood and erased his pitiful existence alongside every last Jedi who had dared stand with a government that cared nothing for them.

Knowing her luck, the King of Naboo was at home far away from the terrors of the galaxy.

"When I said someone above me solidified the order, I did not mean they held my leash. I meant someone whose counsel I respect had given their support to a decision I had already made."

Quinn stood her ground; she accepted that the order issued was hers and hers alone. It would have been easier to allow Gerwald to take the fall if anything had gone wrong. That's how it was on Susevfi. She had someone above her to fall on, someone to take the blame for her stupidity. Never again would she stand on her own two feet.

"The order was mine before it was theirs, before it was anyone's. I still have power over the Sith Order; my power ends and begins with me. No one else, not by vote or birth. Just me."

Hate. She hated the woman in front of her now. Quinn couldn't tell if all of this was a farce, or if Sibylla was this in the dark about what her own government was doing. She would never understand, and she didn't care right now. The Republic was just as monstrous as the Sith, just as deceitful and evil.

"You are right on one thing; I did not want Thyferra to be destroyed. I did not want its people twisted into those things, and I will carry my share of the blame for creating this." She shook her head, plans already formulating; punishments for those who had disobeyed the course of action burned in the back of her mind.

"But regret won't do anything." She stepped closer to Sibylla, the spear still in her hand as she looked at the woman. The warmth that often found the edge of the Echani's eyes was gone, replaced with disgust for the woman.

"We will pull civilians from wreckage; we will open our transports to the Vratrix. We will find every child, every worker, and every soul trapped between our two governments."

A painful breath slipped between her teeth. Sibylla's plea echoed again in her ears.

"But the Republic forces will not leave. Neither will their Jedi, nor the officials who protected that weapon. I will not allow the knowledge of how to silence the Force to escape Thyferra and become doctrine."

Quinn turned towards the metallic thunder echoing through the corridor. Her savior, the one she had expected, was now coming down. The massive beast tore through the remaining horde that lingered at the edge of the last bit of their travel towards the hangar. Her master's crow settled upon the metallic beast as its smaller version spread around the pair of women.

Like a giant cat, the warbeast nuzzled against Quinn's shoulder. She turned a hand, caressing the warbeast's muzzle gently. Heated steam rose as it almost purred at her touch. They belonged to 312; they were an extension of the woman — the one she couldn't feel right now, and it worried her.

"Hello there." She cooed gently to the beast. Its eyes shifted upon seeing Sibylla. "She's not the enemy right now. Leave her."

At her command, the beasts scattered toward Quinn as she smiled softly, but the moment her gaze fell back on Sibylla, it faded.

"If things were different, mercy would not be given to me or my kind; my time on Naboo taught me that."

She began to climb the beast; it would be the fastest way to the shuttle. Part of her wondered whether Sibylla would still follow her to safety, or try to venture on her own. If she chose the latter, Quinn would have to apologize to Adelle.

Though even she was unsure about the Ambassador's loyalties…

"I have the power to spare them, Sibylla."

The pale-haired Dark Councilor's expression became cold.

"I simply will not. This weapon… this device… It's not just an attack on the Sith or the enemies of your government. It's something that can end up anywhere, and wherever it goes, disaster and death will follow."

She paused, her own emotions, which she tried to bury, churning in her stomach. This wasn't her, but she was trying. She couldn't show weakness; she couldn't be that child she was every time duty called.

"I will keep my promise to you and escort you to safety… or you can do your best to navigate your way through."

The hard, cold Sith melted for just a moment…

"Please, Sibylla, we can be at each other's throats after this, but just follow."

Quinn lowered the spear to be a rail for the woman to climb to the warbeast's back.

"Enough have died today; don't be one of them."

Blood was staining her armour, soaking into the fabric of her imbued robes and dripping from her hair. She went on a rampage throughout the ship, every High Republic soldier faced the wrath that Eira felt burning inside her, the release of a monster that she had been subduing and holding back in order to follow the teachings that Quinn had given her. Communication with CT-312 had been lost since they separated but Eira didn't seem to care, she couldn't allow herself to care anymore. The bridge had been burned and there was no returning to what they had. Eira was panting hard as she worked hard in the aggressive attacks without the Force to boost her speed or movements.

The armour had absorbed a decent amount of damage and Eira was pushing what the armour could achieve without the enhancements from the Force that it usually had. Then it returned. Her eyes closed, feeling the Force once again. The hatred from her robes tightening around Eira once again and fuelling her energies. There was a revitalising element to being able to connect with the power that she was learning to master over to time. Thoughts lingered on new, more torturous ways that Eira could inflict on the soldiers that dared to continue to survive and fight her. Eira would make sure all knew that the Sith made those who stood against them suffered heavily.

That had been the plan until the message from Quinn reached her. Nothing detailed. Just reassurance that her Master was still alive. Eira paused in her movements, the Force was back so Quinn was not at risk of that. But the High Republic lingered while running with the tail between their legs like the cowards they were.

Tapping her comms, "do you need me to come to you and take you off world, Master? What is the mission you want from me now?" Eira asked, not sure what she needed to be doing. Part of her felt everything had been completed and her mind lingered on Dantooine, the place where she could truly destroy her past and begin anew. However, rushing there and abandoning her Master. That was unacceptable. If work needed to be done, then Eira needed to be doing it. She was fury, she was hatred, she was a monster but Eira aimed to be one that Quinn could direct towards her enemies.

Stepping past the busy deck hands and machinery, Aurelian made his way through the vessel into the cockpit where Elian was running through pre-flight checks. He reached forward and slammed his datapad onto the main console alongside his personal comm unit, forcing the navigation display to sync with Sibylla's tracking beacon.

"Get us here," Aurelian commanded, pointing a gloved finger at the pulsing red coordinate. "No deviations. Just there."

Boots clattered against the metallic ramp behind them as the remaining Kingsguard and house troops filed inside, securing heavy weapons and armor cases. The ship bucked, its sublight engines whining loudly as Elian cleared the launch bay doors and plunged straight into the chaotic sky above Thyferra. Space was a meatgrinder of turbolaser fire, dying starfighters, and drifting hull plating.

Leaving the cockpit, Aurelian retreated to the main cabin. He unclasped his heavy silk mantle and dropped the royal robes to the deck, leaving only his tunic. The surviving Kingsguard handed him a set of black tactical armor, built with reinforced plating over a flexible armorweave suit. Strapping on the chest piece and tightening the thigh guards, he adjusted to the extra weight with practiced ease. Time spent in the Naboo Royal Security Forces years ago had beaten muscle memory into him, turning basic infantry tactics into second nature.

Reaching into the weapon rack, he pulled down a rifle, checking the power cell before racking the charge. The ship violently lurked to the side as atmospheric entry hit them hard, anti-aircraft flak rattling against the hull.

Sinking into a jump seat, Aurelian wrapped both hands around the rifle's handguard, knuckles turning white under his gloves. The atmosphere outside burned a sickening crimson through the viewports. Plagues, Sith warbands, and falling rubble awaited them down below, but none of it mattered. He locked his jaw, staring blankly at the metal deck, praying the woman he loved was still breathing when they hit the dirt.

A chuckle rumbled over the connection, "So violent, a woman after my own heart." On the Dark Lord's flagship, He gently reached up to take hold of the spectral bird nipping at His ear. He held it aloft in both hands, idly caressing the feathers and petting it along its head and neck. He could feel Lady Raaf's power circulating through the bird, and could instinctively understand its intentions and desires. A subtle means of conveying messages without the need of words or symbols.

"But how committed are you, Madame Chancellor?" Carnifex leaned forward in His throne, eyes fixed on the distant glare of the Chancellor across the vastness of space. "Are you prepared to give that order? I do not doubt that you have the will and the conviction, but threatening to pull the trigger and doing it yourself are two different struggles. Anyone can threaten violence upon another with enough motivation, but to act on it?"

Behind the Yaldabaoth, the Axiom formation was pivoting. Heavy turbolasers swiveled in their moorings as new targeting parameters were input and authorized. They aimed not for the Republic fleet, but for Thyferra itself; specifically the population centers that had not yet been consumed by the conflagration of the battle. "Why don't we join hands together then, Dominique? Become bound by the murder of an entire world, equal partners in bloodshed."

His eye glanced to a quick stream of holographic data, before the smile of His face took on a new dimension. "Then again, you might want to be aware of the ship that just made for the planet, I believe it was launched from your vessel, Madame Chancellor. I wonder who could be in such a rush?"

"You've never dealt with a member of Denon's or the Corporate Sector's Executive Board, Darth Carnifex." Could she act on it? Dare she engage in something so morally questionable? Could she bear the backlash that would result? All questions everyone in Carnifex's position asked someone in Dominque's position. They thought themselves the only predator in these engagements; and, often, they were right.

"Admiral Suun, weapon's readiness."

"Chancellor, high-yield warheads are fueled, launch doors open, with attack package loaded,"
came the prompt response by a woman with a curious foreign accent to her Basic.

"Release safeties. Prepare to launch on my command."

Dominique turned back toward the absent visage of Carnifex over the holotable, not inclined to talk to a wall. How did she even know if she was looking in the right direction? Just because she felt something didn't mean it was him. Something to humor thought about later.

Was Carnifex bluffing? With his weapons soon trained on Thyferra as well, Dominique had to re-evaluate the Order's enduring interest in the world. Was he attempting to deter her effort by claiming it aligned with his own interests? Perhaps. It seemed more likely the man genuinely couldn't care less and was happy to have an excuse. Damnable Sith. "A threat is less a threat if you gladly receive it, Darth Carnifex." It would seem she needed to target something else... something more personal for the Sith. Something they believed was theirs by all right. Dominique would remember this for when that time came.

"What of it?" was the entirety of her response concerning the launched ship.

"Everyone, hold on." The ship shuddered lightly as it moved through the battle raging in space. "Full power to shields. This trip will be for naught if we get shot out of the sky."

"Elian, they're firing on us."

"Chit..." he muttered, directing the controls as the vessel took an inverted dive for roughly three to four seconds before he pulled up again. They had breached Thyferra's airspace. It wouldn't be too long now. They were going to rescue his sister.

"Estimated landing in thirty seconds."
