DESCRIPTION

The Holodriver is a mixture of several concepts in one, most notably the increasingly viable ‘Solid State Hologramhttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Solid-state_hologram’ and the idea behind the ‘Sonic Servodriver’. Through connections within the Tion Hegemony and Irani’s familiarity with the inner workings of the Santhe Corporation he finally managed to realize a concept that would make life just a little bit more easy for the engineering crowd.

First of all the SSH is used for the creation of various tools; size, length and shape are directly manipulated through the holographic input screen on the palm of one’s hand. This gives ease of access and a certain freedom on how one wants to approach a problem.

The 'Holodriver' is capable of shaping and functioning itself from something as simple as a servodriver, to something as powerful as a laser drill and as precise as a micropoint. Of course, the power requirements vary vastly - as a rule the most power draining tool can function for a few hours straight, whilst on the other end it can operate for weeks before recharging becomes necessary.

The device is usually integrated into the protective gear of an engineer, yet with some tinkering it is plausible to install it into most gauntlets on the market.

Intricate scanning and harmonics equipment is integrated into the system, allowing similar functionalities as the sonic servodriver.

Downside is that miniaturization only goes so far and the effective range of the scanning and harmonics system has been reduced to mere centimeters, this means that further training and experience is necessary to properly make use of the functionality.

The device is usually integrated into the protective gear of an engineer, yet with some tinkering it is plausible to install it into most gauntlets and some droids.

In the end this ain't a tool for the wayward mechanic, you need to be a proficient engineer if you want to make good use of it. Kinda like a lightsaber. Yeah, you can wave around and cut off limbs without training, but more often than not it will be your own limbs that get cut.

Solid-State Holograms in canon have a two paragraph entry and only a single source from one comic book.

It's basis in canon is incredibly loose, loose enough that something like this;

laser drill and as precise as a micropoint

Does not even remotely apply.

In the end I'm okay with the -idea- of this technology, however I'm going to need much more of a dev thread than a simple 13 posts.
