Intent: A pretty standard shipsuit; if you forget what you're wearing, this is it. Also, a survival space suit.
Development Thread: If required
Manufacturer: Akure Executive Interstellar
Model: Dragonskin Shipsuit
Affiliation: Open market; employees of Akure Executive Interstellar
Modularity: At higher cost and increased weight, can be outfitted with a covering of tikulini leather for increased protection
Production: Mass-produced (minor for tikulini leather-clad version, limited for alchemized leather-clad version)
Material: Spun-plast, insulation, atmospheric membrane, memory metal ribs, radiation deflection badge, white tikulini leather (reinforcements in forearms), miniaturized atmospheric/comm systems module
Classification: Anti-vacuum
Weight: 4kg (6.5kg with full tikulini leather covering, 11kg if tikulini leather is alchemized)
Quality: 2 (5 at forearms); 4 if outfitted with full tikulini leather covering; 6 if tikulini leather is alchemized). 'Helmet' double-membrane is class 1.
Special Features: Tikulini leather forearm reinforcements and optional covering can provide limited lightsabre resistance; if leather is alchemized, protection is significantly increased.
Description: The Dragonskin Shipsuit comes in a variety of colors and appearances, but fundamentally it's an insulated shipsuit made for deep space wear and found in a variety of disreputable starports. The Dragonskin is designed to wear like normal clothing, because it is normal clothing...except when the wearer enters hard vacuum, voluntarily or involuntarily. Thin strips of rubberized, corrugated, temperature-sensitive memory metal (keyed to extreme cold; can be triggered by exposure to CryoBan; pressure sensors ensure deployment even on the sunny side of a ship) snap out from the shipsuit, carrying with them the suit's outermost layer to a distance of 1.5cm from the skin. Internal atmospheric modules pressurize the suit and the membranous helmet.

The 'helmet' snaps up from the collar as two overlapping pairs of atmospheric membranes; visually, it's not unlike seeing two bear traps snap shut above the head, each set at ninety degrees to the other. From above, the two memory-metal seams form an X over the crown of the head, leaving the front field of vision clear. This suit is not recommended for Togruta, Twi'leks, or other species with significant cranial protrusions, as injury or death may result. Large hair is also not recommended, as death may result.

Two insulated, flat pockets on the front of the thighs contain insulated, airtight mittens. If unexpectedly decompressed, one slips or jams one's hands into the pockets, and the mittens seal tight to the ends of the sleeves. The rims of the pockets also seal to the sleeves, and the pant cuffs seal to the boots. It is strongly recommended to keep one's hands in one's pockets unless one needs to remove them for brief airlock operation.

The Dragonskin Shipsuit can be recompressed, recharged and refitted for reuse without much trouble.

Waste management functions are not included. It is entirely possible to drown in your own urine.

The suit's temperature and atmosphere functions, included limited oxygen recycling, can sustain life for half an hour.

The leather-clad and alchemized-leather-clad versions, while offering much better protection, are not only more expensive but bulkier, possibly impeding rapid movement and range of motion. The inventor, it should be noted, wears the basic model.

The Dragonskin comes with a manual, a holotraining course, and a novel-length disclaimer. It is commonly used by AEI employees, and worn day-to-day on AEI starships.
