With her graceful movements, attractive coloring, and shapely body, Kass is considered quite beautiful by the aesthetic standards of her fellow Pylantians. From a human perspective, she is a horrific writhing mass of tentacles, eyes, and mouths. Her "tentacles" are actually pseudopods and can be absorbed back into her bloblike body. Her gray and green hide is smooth, shiny, and well-maintained. Despite claims to the contrary, she is not slimy. Her eyes are a very vibrant shade of green. All of her mouths have vocal cords, but she typically speaks only using one of them; she has a distinct accent and a clear, pleasant voice which is recognizably feminine even to human ears. Her blood is green in color.
APPEARANCE
Born on Pylos Satnik to a Sashkatros family, Kassogtha Cthylla was an only child. Her mother died when she was very young. While the community banded together to help support the family, Kass' grieving father would develop two ruinous vices introduced to their world by the offworlders: drinking and gambling. He soon found himself in dire financial straits and unable to care for his young daughter. It was right around that time that young Kassogtha began exhibiting signs of Force Sensitivity, and not long afterwards the Jedi came a-knocking. Though it was far from an easy choice for him to make, her father ultimately decided to give up his daughter in hopes that the girl would have a better life as a Jedi Knight.
BIOGRAPHY
Kass received training at the Silver Rest on Kashyyyk. A timid and anxious child, she seemed destined for the Service Corps. But not long after she turned thirteen (traditionally considered the cutoff age for younglings who had yet to become apprentices) she was chosen as the padawan of Jedi Knight Gavyn Farlander. A Sith Pureblood by birth, Farlander stood out among the ranks of the Jedi—as did his somewhat maverick teachings. He taught Kass to overcome her fears, often by encouraging her to be more aggressive and assertive rather than passive and shrinking. Under his tutelage, she excelled. Though he was a warrior, not a scholar, he was supportive of her scholastic pursuits. It was he who encouraged the shy girl to model herself after the likes of Tionne Solusar and become an archivist. Farlander also introduced Kass to her future husband, Oukranos, who was a Pylantian training at the Jakku Jedi Enclave.
Following the path of a Jedi Consular, Kass specialized in lorekeeping, maintaining the archives of the Silver Rest. Her role meant that she rarely saw combat. As a result, it took longer for her to be knighted. During that period she married and had three children, only one of whom, her son Zhar, was Force Sensitive. While he trained under the Silver Jedi, he never became a Padawan, instead joining the Service Corps.
Kass achieved the rank of Jedi Master during the Bryn'adul War. Following the destruction of the Silver Rest, Kass accepted an offer to become the new Head Librarian of the Jedi Archives on Coruscant. The role had previously been held by
Aeris Lashiec
, who left the Order. Though taking the position required Kass and Oukranos to move from the Silvers to the NJO, the couple made the transition relatively smoothly and have begun settling into their new life.
