- Skills: Gavyn was a lifelong wanderer, often mistaken for a vagrant. He possessed many survival skills which enabled him to live a transient lifestyle, including knowledge of what plants are safe to eat, how to purify water, build shelter from natural materials, start a fire, etc. He was also excellent at hunting and fishing. He loved the great outdoors, and could make himself at home just about anywhere.

- Personality: Gavyn was a more complicated figure than many realized. He could be questionable or even morally ambiguous at times, though most remember him as an exceptionally good, kind, and generous person. His sense of humor was unparalleled, and his casual, honest, earthy way of speaking could cut to the heart of any matter without damaging the body around it. He came from a rich and powerful Sith family, a lauded bloodline famous for their strength in the Force, and spent much of his life fighting the legacy he inherited from his parents. Despite his stellar reputation and lengthy career as a Jedi Knight, he confided in a select few friends and loved ones that he was never truly happy with the Order, often being disappointed by the self-righteousness, arrogance, and hypocrisy of his fellow Jedi. Too many Jedi just didn't "get" it when it came to the Sith, either failing to recognize their own faults or wasting opportunities at redemption until it was too late.

Gavyn Farlander was born on Dromund Kaas as Gavyn Malico, the son of two Sith Lords. Raised under the teachings of the Sith, he was trained as a warrior. At some point he opted to reject his upbringing, leaving home and deciding to wander the galaxy. It was during his travels that he was introduced to the way of the Jedi, along with a host of other philosophies and disciplines. Ultimately he made the decision to join the Jedi Order, as he found their doctrine the most acceptable.
He quickly developed a reputation for being one of the Silver Jedi Order's finest teachers. He was frequently given students who were troublesome, flagging behind, or otherwise struggling to progress. His track record for helping difficult Padawans reach knighthood was so great, he was the first to be called upon whenever there was a young Jedi in need of greater guidance.
Gavyn died following a duel against three Sith, sacrificing himself to save the lives of two young Padawans. His ashes were spread over the foundations of the first ever Pylantian Jedi Enclave, which was named in his honor.
