“Alright, have fun you two!” Valery said before she shifted over to her husband’s side and held onto his arm. Today, they were traveling to the Temple together as Jedi Padawans, not as younglings anymore. They had their braids, their new curriculum, and a lot of excitement to finally begin their new journey.

But Valery couldn’t help but feel like her little ones were growing up too fast.

“It’ll be fine, Mom,” Vera said with a smile. “We’ll be home soon!” Vera said before she nudged her brother to leave before Mom could stop them.

“Oh, Vera?”

Too late.

Vera sighed, turned around and looked at her Mom, “Yes, Mom?”

“Remember, no boys~” Valery teased with a smirk.

MOM!”

With a glare meant for her Mother’s eyes alone, Vera pushed Aris towards the door and shoved it shut behind her. It was time to head to the Temple.

“Does it feel any different to you?” Vera asked, as they walked up the steps of the Jedi Temple together. She looked around, and everything seemed pretty normal to her. Coruscant traffic was busy, the Temple Guard were in position, and she could sense the Jedi within the Temple going about their days.

But for her, it was a new beginning.

“Master Bri is going to start our training soon. But we should have some time to first meet with the other Padawans, hm?“ Vera asked with a proud smile on her face. "Finally, we’re not younglings anymore.”

Gatz stepped out of the Jedi Temple, datapad in his hands. There were bags under his eyes, and he moved at a pace that was nearly sluggish. Even so, his eyes were alert and attentive, but only on what he was holding. He absorbed the digital textbook in his hands like it was the most interesting thing in the world—which it most certainly was not. Medical jargon was confusing, and boring, and a chore to plow through.

But he had to plow through it anyhow. It was his primary study. He had a lot of studies now. There was just so much to catch up on, and so little time. He'd burned fifteen years of his life doing nothing, and now he had to come back and pick up his Jedi training as if he'd been a youngling yesterday.

He was struggling. He was drowning. He was failing.

Gatz let out a heavy sigh, and let the datapad fall to his side. What in the world was he doing here? He was no Jedi. At the rate he was going, he never would be. Everything was a struggle. He worked twice as hard as his fellow Padawans, only to cover half as much ground. The only time anything went right was when there was a lightsaber in his hands, and Gatz really didn't like the idea of living by the sword. He would have loved to heal, except getting Force Healing out of him was like squeezing water from a stone.

He needed help. And yet, somehow, Gatz was still on his own. Maybe returning was a mista—

Gatz heard a pair of familiar voices. He turned his head, tired eyes scanning the stairs into the temple. Lo and behold, Little Bug and Junior were right there, not even ten feet from him.

...When had they gotten so big? Gatz swore Vera had been tiny when he'd first met her.

"You guys are getting too old, too fast." Gatz shook his head.

New padawans began their training all the time. It wasn't everyday that they were the children of Valery Noble. Jasper had always had a soft spot for the Noble children, especially after Vera had been taken from her home by Carnifex. He hadn't interacted with them as much as he would have liked, but that was besides the point. He still wanted to support them, even if he was a somewhat familiar weirdo with a robot arm.

"You guys are getting too old, too fast."

"Jeez, already got the 'look how big you've grown' talk down," Jasper shrugged as he made his way over. "Just give it a few years and they'll be taller than the both of us."

Jasper wasn't here to be overly emotional. They'd no doubt be getting that from a bunch of people today, especially their parents, though Jasper leaned more towards assuming that Kahlil was by far the one who was having a harder time. It was always the big, stoic folks who cried the most. At least, that was just the silly scenerio he had imagined in his head. No doubt the two of them were both proud and sad to see their kids growing up. The knight could only wonder what he would feel like whenever he had his own kid. Regardless, a grin came to his face as his eyes settled on the two Noble children.

"Hey, congrats by the way," he began. "This isn't a small step. I'm sure your parents are proud. I'll have to get the two of you on a relief mission with the Shield Core at some point. Oh, right..."

The man fished into his pocket, procuring two circular coins. It wasn't any kind of currency. Instead they seemed to be some kind of collectable, an x-wing on one face and the emblem of the Galactic Alliance on the other.

"I don't do this often, but I'm giving the two of you a favor," Jasper stated. "If you ever need any equipment made or have an idea for a piece of tech, bring these to me. I can build pretty much anything within reason. Save'em for a rainy day."

Or maybe it was just his excuse to kit them out with tech. He'd never say.

GADividerPurple.png

"You're welcome to make friends with boys Vera, don't worry." Kahlil chuckled as he patted Valery's hand before squinting suspiciously at Vera. She was welcome to whatever friends she liked. "But you're only making friends with them. And girls. Both of you."

No, they were not going to be allowed to date any time soon. They could both wait till they were adults. But that was all he was going to say on that. They probably weren't even thinking about anything like that. Still, he wanted to make that much clear. Aris just shrugged indifferently. He wasn't thinking about any of that at all. Instead, he nodded towards Vera as she pushed him out the door so they could flee from any more parental smothering.

GADividerPurple.png

"No."

If it was supposed to feel different, he wasn't sure. But it didn't feel any different walking through the halls. Maybe the halls seemed a little more cramped on account of him just being taller. The growth spurt had started, and it wasn't going to be much longer until the both of them were towering even further above their peers. Aris especially. He smiled though, nodding. They were official Padawans.

They even had a Master.

And people greeting them. He blinked in surprise at even Jasper coming here to greet them. Well, it wasn't too surprising. He didn't want to make a big deal of who they were, but there was no denying that Vera and Aris were people that would be looked at. "We are growing at the normal rate for our species. It might seem like we're growing fast, but that's because you humans are short."

Then, he took the token. He might actually call that in sooner than Jasper might think, depending. Without the ability to use the Force, it was likely there'd be some tech he'd want to keep up with the others.

"Thank you, Master Kai'el.

Katarine had been busy in the archives. Ever since coming to the Jedi Temple she had wanted to learn more about the state of the galaxy. After waking up from stasis and finding roughly a thousand years had passed she was understandably rattled. The Coruscant Temple offered a good place to meditate and speak to other Jedi. Katarine so far had met with Master Valery Noble to start the process of figuring out the next steps for Katarine. That process was ongoing of course and while she tried to figure that out the woman felt she may as well read.

She had selected a few books and was intending to take them back to the room the New Jedi Order had let her use for sleeping quarters, when she heard talking. Interested she peeked in to see two young people who looked like new padawans. Were these Valeries children? She had heard talk that the two might be starting soon.

Of course in her days of the Republic Jedi had been forbidden to have families, but after Order 66 the galaxy needed more and those laws had been relaxed. Katarine thought it was interesting to see how family grew. She wanted to say hello to the new padawans and introduce herself.

While the Temple was abuzz with news of the Nobles' children joining the Order, Master Kassogtha Cthylla was busy tending to the library and enjoying the relative quiet there. Her tentacles stood and faced the shelves as she slithered through the aisles. She hummed softly as she worked, her numerous mouths harmonizing the tune.

Since the library was mostly deserted at this hour and under these circumstances, the presence of a lone young woman stood out. Kass could not recall ever having seen her before, and she prided herself on being able to recognize all the regular faces. Noticing the pile of books the woman was collecting, she decided to approach her.

"Hello," she greeted in a chipper tone. "Found everything you need?"

Katarine turned and smiled at the librarian who and slithered towards her. She had never met one of these species before but the aura surrounding the librarian was friendly and welcoming and that made Kat feel good.

“Oh yes. Well except do you have any historical books on how the Jedi traditions have changed over time?”

She wasn’t sure how to explain that she was missing a thousand years of history but she thought someone must have chronicled at least how the Rebel Alliance won the war against the Empire.

“Oh yes. Well except do you have any historical books on how the Jedi traditions have changed over time?”

"Hmmm, let's see..." She moved to one of the catalog computers, her tentacles whipping rapidly across the keypad. "I'm afraid we don't have any books on that specific subject available, but we do have a few treatises on philosophy and tradition written by major Jedi contemporaries." She scrolled down the list. "Those would be... The Unrelenting Sea by Master Coren Starchaser, 25 Chambers: A Jedi Training Philosophy by Master Romi Jade, and The Secrets of the Jedi by Master Luke Skywalker."

Stretching out her tentacles, she plucked each book from its shelf, piling them up together neatly and presenting them to the woman.

Katarine was surprised when the librarian had so many resources for her. How had Kat missed all of these in her search? She took each of the books and examined their covers. Some of these Jedi were still around, and others were famous from the Rebellion. Perhaps this would help her get the answers she needed.

"Thank you so much Master."
She bowed respectfully and then decided to add. "I don't think we have been introduced. My name is Katarine Ryiah."

Growing discontent, such a formal term to describe her mood, rather Ariana found herself disinterested with her Jedi studies. Boredom was a nasty rascal of an emotion to wrangle free of if she wasn’t prepared. Do not simply practice the Jedi Arts, venture deep to find its secrets, for those revelations will ascend one’s own mind to heights unimaginable. Ariana mused on some words a teacher explained once. Lofty words for her to ever aspire towards, as she had a difficult time walking through a single hallway without jumping between one thought to another different thought.

Ariana’s ears perked up as she heard several voices, distracting herself once again she peaked around the corner of the hallway to see familiar faces. Well familiar from a distance. Not that Ariana had ever exchanged more than a few words with any of them, Master Noble’s Children arriving here at the Jedi Temple was special. As it is for any new Jedi walking up the steps here on the Coruscant Temple. Even for Ariana the history behind each step could be felt, she appreciated the reverence others had for the Temple.

Knight Kai’el was there greeting the new arrivals, along with another Jedi she couldn’t place a name. Hopefully they can make friends easily enough, and not have too much pressure on them. Ariana wasn’t the socialite that her brother could be, not for the lack of effort, well perhaps some lack of effort, but Ariana chose a more studious lifestyle. Well, maybe not that studious, but definitely more solitary. So the time to attend social gatherings that weren’t a part of her training or missions were sparse on purpose.

Oh right, speaking of training, mediation or study? Ariana looked left to right several times, the prospect of either choice seemed unappealing in both directions. The young Du Couteau heir clicked her tongue against the top of her mouth, further wondering if the sparring rooms weren’t crowded. Don’t like the options in front of you? Find another that works. She had truly dug deep into the arts of procrastination, so much so she perhaps had ascended to heights unimagined.

Vera gave her brother a bit of a look, and shook her head with a sigh when he defended their height again. From his perspective, it was factually correct, as he would put it, but most of the Galaxy just wasn't as tall as they would be. Especially not as tall as Aris, who was a pure Epicanthix - a clone of Dad.

"It's good to see you here, Gatz! I look forward to fighting- I mean, sparring you in class." She grinned and looked at her brother. Aris was the real duelist between them, but Vera wanted to prove herself too, and few things were as fun as a proper spar.

Multi-colored eyes then shifted as Jasper approached - another familiar face she happily greeted with an excited grin. "I'd love to join you on a mission! That'd be fun, right Aris?" She rocked back-and-forth on her heels at the idea, but that curiosity shifted again at the offered tokem. Vera held it in her hand and looked it over.

"Hmm, this will be useful. Mom is bad with tech and auntie Yula lives far away. Thanks, Jasper!" She put the token in her pocket, looked up, and noticed what she believed to be another Padawan, but she stood alone and seemed to be looking for something?

Vera decided to wave at Ariana Du Couteau Ariana Du Couteau and smiled, "Hello!"

Gatz still couldn't believe they were almost as tall as he was. Granted, their mother was tall for a woman, and their father was an actual giant... so it made sense, which Aris even pointed out. But it still made Gatz feel... sad, in a way. When he'd first met Vera, she'd been a little girl. Now she was going to outgrow him within a year. And the triplets... man, Gatz remembered when they were so young that Valery had to excuse herself from the dinner table to breastfeed.

Now they were running around like three little bundles of chaos.

He'd met Aris when he was older, not all that long ago. But he still hadn't been this big. Now he was taller than most men. It made Gatz feel old. And... a little unsure of himself. They were still kids, but in the eyes of the Order, these two teenagers were his equals now. Hell, they probably had a better grip on their training than he did. And the idea of sparring with Vera—of physically swinging a weapon at a thirteen year old—bothered him immensely.

"Good to see you too, Little Bug." Gatz smiled anyways. Hard not to around the ball of sunshine that was Vera, "but I guess you're not so little anymore."

Gatz stepped aside then to let Knight Kai'el greet the kids. Far be it from him to get in the way of a Jedi Council member. While the Knight was busy handing out coins, Gatz kept himself busy imagining how much trouble Briana was in for with these two.

"Hmm, this will be useful. Mom is bad with tech and auntie Yula lives far away. Thanks, Jasper!"

"Of course," Jasper nodded with a grin. "The force is a strength of course, but every Jedi worth their salt has a tool kit."

There were cases where using the force could be problematic, and of course not all Jedi were as strong in the force as others. There were all kinds of reasons for why a Jedi may need a collection of tools for more than just the standard outing, from slicing to personal shields to whatever. It was just a matter of letting the two figure out what they needed to best compliment them.

Vera would wave at another arrival, an Ariana Du Couteau, a face he had not seen in some time. A fellow amputee who was behind him in her padawan training. He hadn't seen her around in some time.

"Hello, Padawan Du Couteau," the knight greeted, giving a half wave. "Are you finding everything alright?"

She seemed to be looking for something.

BB-610 was so, so happy for the two Nobles. To be there for such a world changing chapter of their lives was incredibly important to him, so the droid had stayed an additional few hours at the temple to await their arrival. He'd been practicing his newly installed medical kit, and while he was far from perfect, he'd already made good progress. Much like the two eldest children, BB-610 was headed on a path to prove himself.

With his test simulation blipping away, the astromech left the temple's infirmary, eager to speed his way to the entrance as he navigated the halls. Swerving past passers-by, BB-610's motors whirred as fast as they could, until Coruscant's warm light finally glimmered through the building's opening. Unsurprising to him, the Nobles' arrival had spurred on an ensemble of people - the children of the Sword and Shield of the Jedi would have always done. He bweeped in greeting, a loud sound that echoed around the surrounding walls, enthusiastically screeching their names as BB-610 rolled over to them.

The droid circled the two Nobles, chirping happily about how proud he was, before inching closer to take turns nuzzling against both Vera and Aris' legs, cooing softly. BB-610 eventually pulled away, and as he did, his internal camera was activated, with the astromech bweeping for them to pose and take a photo. It was done in a matter of seconds, as BB-610 wobbled excitedly. He'd wanted to capture such a momentous occasion.

Peering around them, the BB unit spotted Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el , something that got him springing up and chirping 'hello!', always happy to see the Jedi. Turning back around to Vera and Aris, BB-610 cooed once more, asking the pair how they were feeling.

"I don't mind a mission, no. It would be good experience, especially with another Council member." There were few who had as much experience to offer than the council members of the Jedi. Any experience he got he'd certainly take. His gaze fell to Bee, though, as he smiled and watched the little droid spin around.

Bee certainly was excited. "So far, fine. I'm sure we'll have to find our rooms soon. Though Vera is already going off to make friends, isn't she?" He chuckled, looking to where Vera and Jasper was already greeting another Padawan.

Not one he recognized, but then again there'd be few he did.

"How are you feeling? You've been with Vera longer."

The ‘Hello’ dragged Ariana back to the present and she blinked in confusion before registering that someone had approached her. Carefully Ariana looked at Padawan Noble and with over a decade of training and muscle memory Ariana bowed. She was about to respond but Knight Kai’el also said hello and Ariana instinctually bowed once again. Nobility training was a difficult habit to break, but at the moment she was thankful for such instincts. Harder to disrespect people on accident, meaning less awkward conversations and apologies!

“Knight Kai’el, greetings.” Ariana responded before looking back at Padawan Noble, “-and Greetings to you, my name is Ariana Du Couteau. . . but you can call me Ari. . . fewer syllables.” She introduced herself with a quick wink, now only leaving her with the awkward question of what she was looking for currently.

I can’t simply say ‘Oh just trying to ignore my studies and other obligations.’ Now can I? Ariana kept a thin smile, her thoughts organizing themselves into a suitable answer. “Ah, well-you see I was getting some fresh air-” Ariana felt comfortable enough with that answer, relaxing her shoulders as she spoke.

“And later I figured I could visit the sparring and training rooms,” Ariana laughed innocently enough, scratching the back of her head with her left hand. I’m sure those areas will be less crowded now. Her eyes caught the movement of an astromech droid and wondered if she should finally start learning binary at some point.

The training room of the temple seemed to be the favorite spot of the local rock star. Fluid katas were something he drilled himself on daily now, given his hope to one day be a knight, his young mind figured he'd need them someday.

Today however, he seemed to be in a zone, fluidly summoning and desummoning his lightsaber and sword. Every time his sword would be summoned, the sword spoke, calling out the next attack in binary.

"Side swipe and uppercut!"

The teen's long hair swirled through the air as he went for the attack, following the orders of the droid sword perfectly. Without a master, this was the best the boy could do right now...

"It is a pleasure to meet you Master Cthylla."
Katarine realized that this Jedi was on the Council. She had read the name in a book of recent council members.

She wasn't sure how to answer the next question. It was odd to be so new and yet so old.

"Well... I've recently found myself outside of my own time period. I was a Jedi during the Rebellion. Master Noble is working with me to decide what rank is appropriate for me. I believe we are going to present some evidence to the council and see what they decide. I am new to this Order though."

Zan's dark green lids opened to reveal his large eyes that were deep and black. His expression was one of peace, and his body was situated into a stance of meditation. His legs were unlocked from their position to extend out and his palms laid upon the floor beneath him as he came into awareness of what surrounded him.

He was told to meditate to ease his mind by one of the academy masters, and so he had been doing so for quite some time before stirring from it. He pulled himself to his feet, adjusted his jedi robes and nodded to some passer-by learners as he departed from the meditation room. His body instinctively stretched as he made his way through the academy toward the training center of the academy.

It seemed that was typically seen, there were several padawan learners there. Some were talking, other were training with droids. Zan's intention was to join the other in some kata practice at the droid's instruction. He was without a master as well, and so he'd have to do what needed to be done to progress.

"Nice moves..."

The Nautolan addressed Nir Si Nir Si with a smile. He was by then grabbing one of the practice sabers that were afforded to training academy students and learners.
