Faction Distribution Of Power - (The Family)

Kardek Alpha

I’m Kardek, He’s Alpha
At the motion of Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora 's hand, the guards moved aside. Kardek adjusted his tie and stood up a bit straighter as he stepped into the room, smirking a bit from the look she gave him as he smoothly flicked up one of her ebony cigarras from a metal tin in his jacket pocket and brought it up to his lips. Both her and Ivory Stroud Ivory Stroud were clearly busy and about to address the room, so he did not attempt to bother them as he stuffed the tin back in its pocket and lit the cigarra with a lighter from his other hand. He began to survey the guests, offering a nod of respectful acknowledgment to the likes of Dedata | Celty Ree Dedata | Celty Ree and Stardust Solus Skirae Stardust Solus Skirae , some of the few faces he could confess to recognize. Seemed like the family had grown significantly since his last attendance. His cybernetics began to scan the other attendees, obtaining whatever information it could. He thought he recognized the bartender… Perhaps a drink would be a good place to start.

However, before he could make a motion in any direction, he noticed a rather exquisite woman approaching him. He took in a drag and returned Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus 's gaze with chin raised slightly, letting out a thin stream of smoke from the right side of his mouth as she introduced herself.

Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus said:
"Hi, I'm Mairéad, I don't think we have met"

He flipped the lighter into his pocket and extended a free hand of greeting as he simultaneously pulled the cigarra down between two fingers from his mouth, tilting his head slightly to the side with a rather interested yet curious expression.

"Kardek." He stated, then pointed his cigar slightly in the droid's direction, "This is Alpha. It's a pleasure." He immediately responded to the provided drinks by placing the cigarra back on his lips and taking two shot glasses in each hand, four in total. Never a man to shy away from free liquor, he was more than happy to indulge.

"Here." He said softly, turning to Alpha and placing one in each of his grasps. He gave him a playful wink regarding the woman before turning back to Mairead.

Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus said:
"So I'm going to come out and guess you two are familiar with the bosses then?"

He nodded slowly with a smile sparking at her chuckling from the obvious. "Yes. Familiar. I work for Marcella." With that he motioned to one of the remaining shots in his hand.

"Hope you don't mind, I bought you a drink." He said with a bit of a smirk on his face. Ever the flirt, he could not help himself. It was about this time that Alpha, taking note of the elegant attire of the room, started to wine softly at Kardek from behind. It didn't seem to be in any language, or even a known droid dialect, but Kardek seemed to immediately understand what he was wanting.

"Oh." He quickly downed his own shot and placed it back on the provided tray, then handed the offered shot to the woman, "One moment, Mairéad." He said slightly apologetically with a bow of the head before turning to Alpha and pulling a blue tie out of his other jacket pocket.

"Here ya go, buddy." He said through the Cigarra as he placed the tie over Alpha's head and tightened it around his neck. Kardek patted him on the shoulder, looking him up and down with a humorous smile and a nod, "You look rather dapper there, my friend."

Alpha seemed to straighten, raising his chin slightly as a wondrous whirr emanated from within him. It was likely a rather odd thing for an assassin droid to be wearing, but Alpha surely felt like he was on top of the galaxy.

Kardek turned back to the woman, giving her an amused smile as he rolled his eyes slightly.

"So…" He said, getting back to the introductions, "What about you?"

Diocletian had settled at the bar to proofread and edit the datapads he brought. There were some very anti-human epithets dotted here and there, of course, it was speech-to-text, so a few things squeaked through his eagle-eyed gaze.

<"No, that's not staying, neither is that."> He muttered as he scoured through them.

The Donna should be able to read through the intel he had gathered without much difficulty, and he had 5 pads worth of data for her. Although there will be gaps when several tribes backed out of the meetings last minute.

The midline between the coast and the interior looked like a logical option, safe from Cyclones and close enough for more relaxed operations. He needed to speak with The Donna privately to iron out the logistics of building a base on a planet as insular as UbaIV. The pads were encrypted so unwelcomed eyes couldn’t pry into them.

However, Diocletian’s attention was drawn to the bowl of pretzels on the bar, just looking at them made his hackles rise slightly, he wasn’t anti-Pretzel, he just loathed the ones that were too overly seasoned.

<"Akkkkpppht!"> He spat wiping his tongue on a napkin.

He swore they were marinated in a ridiculously high salt concentration. He took a bite and his eye watered, so he put it back while glaring at it with fury, the Ubese made a low noise of annoyance. A server walked by just at the wrong moment.

<“What is this?”> Diocletian hissed, his ire palpable.

“A pretzel sir,” Jimmy answered impassively.

<“I know it’s a pretzel, can you tell me what a normal pretzel is?”>

“Slightly salted, sir.”

<“So, why do you drown the damned things in farking salt, why is a pinch such a big ask?!”>

Diocletian brandished the bowl inches from the server, Jimmy’s face in a temper. He was supposed to be dignified but he drew the line at the over-salted snack food, he was on duty the last time he encountered the offending marinated item so he couldn’t voice his displeasure but now he could.

“They are supposed to be like that sir.”

<“They - are supposed to taste like a breeze block of salt?!”> Diocletian was in disbelief, he had enough and fought the urge to ram the offending food up Jimmy’s nose.

“Yes.”

Diocletian went very quiet, before chucking the pretzels at Jimmy.

The young woman took the hand of the man and shook it as a greeting. She also the drink gracefully and was about to issue thanks when Kardek Alpha Kardek Alpha turned and dressed his compainion droid. She raised and eyebrow and give a slight smirk as the funny scene unfolding in front of her. "Thank you for the drink, it is a pleasure to meet you too. You as well Alpha, I must say, you have to respect a man who takes pride in his appearance." she raised her glass in appreciation, he hadn't paid for the drink of course, but she wouldn't let a trifling thing get in the way.

She was interested in his work with Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora . It was the same tree she was hopefully climbing, but it wouldnt be proper to ask him of his specific business, there was so many people working for her in one manner or another it was hardly a suprise she didn't recognise them all. She did wonder how his rank compared to hers, maybe something to find out later.

"I got my introduction from Stardust Solus Skirae Stardust Solus Skirae over there, but have since been quite closely working with Marcella too, she's been quite the mentor too me." she glanced over with a grateful look to the elevated platform where the Capo was deep in coversation with the donna.

"So Alpha, what is your story? Do you work for this gentleman or just an aquaintance?" she asked. Their body language was not that of an owner-servant relationship, Kardek looked as though he regarded the droid with obvious affection. She was aware of the time pushing forward so they would be best to find seats for the announcements, so as the spoke she would move them towards an open table with a good vantage point.

Kardek Alpha

I’m Kardek, He’s Alpha
Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus said:
"Thank you for the drink, it is a pleasure to meet you too. You as well Alpha, I must say, you have to respect a man who takes pride in his appearance."

Alpha whirred happily with an air of what he hoped was sophistication, puffing his chest forward slightly. Kardek chuckled, amused at his friends display.

At the mention of Stardust Solus Skirae Stardust Solus Skirae the man nodded slowly in muted contemplation, concluding quickly that Mairéad must be, at the very least, force sensitive… if not more so. His eyes subtly searched for a lightsaber as he continued to pull from the cigarra. He had run into enough force users in his life to be more than cautious around them… especially those who had dipped their toes into the dark side. Light side users? Predictable to a kriffin' fault. Dark side users, however, tended to be much more chaotic and unpredictable, a factor that always made them a wild card that you could never truly predict.

He hated unpredictability. And seeing that Mairéad was involved with the family caused him to assume she wasn't a white knight herself.

As the woman glanced back towards Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora 's direction, her apparent mentor, Kardek took the opportunity to scan the room subtly one more time. This was definitely an eclectic group of individuals... it appeared that even satan had decided to make an appearance. "Yeah, she's on another level, isn't she." He stated rather matter-of-factly in regards to Marcella as the woman turned back in his direction, offering her a knowing nod. Apparently they worked for the same employer, so he decided to do his best to establish a decent connection with the woman despite his reservations.

As Mairéad began to address Alpha and probe into the two's working relationship, Kardek and Alpha both looked at each other with a knowing smile. Well… Not Alpha, obviously... but the sentiment could be easily detected as he tilted his head and whirred a rather fond noise in regards to the gunslinger.

"He doesn't talk much." Kardek confessed, turning back to Mairéad, "But let's just say that our… connection… is a rather intricate one." With that, he offered a wink to Mairéad as she moved the three of them to find their seats. Kardek was a man of discretion, and preferred to share as little information about the nature of his and Alpha's relationship as possible, knowing that such information in the wrong hands could be deadly. He had worked hard to remain unknown, so it was little surprise if most of the room had never even heard of him before.

Kardek sighed almost heavily as he reclined, his arm stretching along the back cushion of his chair as a sense of weariness seemed to subtly reveal itself. Alpha joined them as well, looking over the seat with a bit of cautious curiosity before ever so slowly attempting to sit while still holding the two shots in his hands. As his metal frame came to rest, he seemed rather pleased with himself for not spilling the drinks… something that had apparently happened on previous occasions.

Kardek nodded at Alpha gratefully as the droid handed him one of the shots, which he quickly downed with one gulp and then placed on the cushion beside his leg. The man searched for more small talk to engage his new acquaintance with, however nothing really was coming to mind in the moment. Such problems usually did not plague the quick-witted Gunslinger, causing him to blame his extended travel. So instead of small talk, he ended up focusing on the one relationship that seemed to connect the two of them… Marcella.

"You know, the first time I met Marcella we almost killed each other." He stated with a smirk, his eyes focused on the topic of his conversation as he recalled the first encounter with the Capo. "Although she might see it differently... You might be surprised to learn that I'm a little rough around the edges…" He then turned his head towards Mairéad and locked eyes with her, wondering if she would be able to pick up on his style of humor or not, "Just messin'…. I'm all prim and proper, obviously." He motioned down towards his fashionable suit with a smirk.

From the dais stardust could see all the room easily, then again even if she was floor level she could easily see. Her eyes scanned around watching as everyone mingled together and spoke, though she spotted Diocletian Kahmen’’a Diocletian Kahmen’’a throwing a bowl of pretzels into a man's face and couldn't help a chuckle audibly for the Donna and capos to hear

hes in a good mood it would seem

She noted before movement right at the edge of the circle caught her attention, a droid was getting just a bit to close and stardust moved forward a bit just past Ivory Stroud Ivory Stroud to stare it down a hand moving down to her sabers and gripping it just a bit in warning to step back

who's droid is that

She asked to the Donna and capos

Holo-Disguise: Humanoid Waiting-Servant Droid

Nyx stopped with the butler's optical units directed toward one, green Stardust Solus Skirae Stardust Solus Skirae . "Oh. Hello. Would you care for any refreshments? I am versed in over one billion cocktails." Its cranial unit pivoted slight to the left and then to the right before it turned back to Stardust once more. "As for my ownership, I am the property of this establishment. Here to provide any service you require for this evening's gathering. Please, do not hesitate to ask."

So there was an invisible perimeter around Ivory. Not surprising. Seeing how there was no one to share the details with, Nyx filed away her assessment of the reaction time and distance for later review.

For the time being, she would remain standing where Stardust confronted the butler droid until a response was given. A simple 'go away' would suffice to have her change course. Hopefully no one got violent at this delightful assembly. Any violence would only result in a most... festive encounter. It would delay Ivory's speech by an untold duration as well. Terrible shame over a misunderstanding.

Well, Nyx was there in disguise. It wouldn't be a gross misunderstanding seeing as how she didn't use the front door. It could hardly be said to be Nyx's fault the Family hadn't given her VIP access. Perhaps if Stardust did not try to dismantle Nyx, she would go bother Aurelius and see about him returning a favor.

She dipped a nail into each drink as though to pick them up, coming back the same color as she licked the nail before taking her drink. The small interaction between Dominik and Sam not missed while her eyes were focused on the drinks.

"Dominik does tend to be a sweetheart in regards to helping others." Was all the more of a comment she made on the personal matter between the two.

The bartenders comment about their threads made her smile.

A smile that was a bit too wide as she opened her eyes into an uncomfortable stare. Nanoseconds stretched on forever as she took in his attire. The gaze lasting mere seconds in real time as she let her eyes relax before smiling again.

"Nothing terrifically complicated. Nano-weave production. Surprised the plate carriers are so comfortable in your suit. But then again those and the holsters are easy enough to hide if you iron the seems just so. Well made for someone tending the bar. Then again the bar seems to attract all sorts of attention." Niki spoke with ease. A professional smile on her face as she lifted the drink to her lips.

The slight burn of alcohol was unfamiliar given she was a social drinker. Her mind turning over the details of everyone around them.

She made the conscious choice to ignore all of the information floating about in this environment. A stray bit could ultimately make it harder to lie. And it was easier to feign ignorance when you truly did not know the particulars about certain people.

One detail did not escape her notice however.

A spouse being known to others was a dangerous thing in certain circles, and Niki made note of the detail. She kept quiet though since it seemed the bartender was well in his element among the people here.

The trio took their seats and continued chatting, he certainly didn't look "rough round the edges" but appearances can be deceiving, they all needed to be a little rough just to survive in this industry. Ordering another drink she thought about what he said about Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora . "She tried to kill you? Shame, I won't ask what you did to deserve that honour." she laughed walmly and played with the stem of her glass, glancing over again at the Caporegime. It was subtle, but she couldn't help but give little clues to her own affection for the woman.

She smirked thinking about her next question. "So.... an intricate connection you say? That sort of phrase is begging to be explored, but I suppose it would be terribly rude of me to enquire as to the status of the two of you as a pair? No judgement here." she smiled and raised an eyebrow that indicated what she was discretely asking. Maybe it was slightly rude and she would back down the moment she felt she might be causing offence, but he used a word he must have known would be tempting to the sort of inquisitive minds that filled the room.

She paused for a moment as the waiter placed three drinks on the table, two whiskeys and a strange blue concoction which was supposed to cause enjoyable electric stimulation in droids.

"Cheers" she said, clicking her glass on those of Kardek and then Alpha.

Kardek Alpha

I’m Kardek, He’s Alpha
A smile spread quickly across his face as he held in a laugh, recalling the cause of Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora 's fury. "Oh, it was something absolutely horrifyingcompletely diabolical in nature, of coarse." He turned towards her and placed a hand on Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus 's shoulder. "I touched her beloved bartenders shoulder. Like this. Thats literally all I did. Tell me I'm a demon, please." He chuckled at the memory as he then observed a rather affectionate yet subtle glance towards Marcella from the woman. Interesting. He decided to test the waters a bit. Kardek smoothly let his hand lift upward off her shoulder and extend behind Mairéad, coming to rest on the back of her chair, as if they were long friends and possibly more. "In fact, depending on how close the two of you are, Marcella might have my head just for touching you in like manner." He said softly, leaning slightly closer to the woman seated next to him as if he was telling her a deep secret. Then, after a moment, he turned quickly to observe Marcella's reaction to his advances, his sharp eyes studying the reactions of both women with an edge of suspicion.

"You know..." He began rather slyly, "Marcella is a beautiful woman. Beautiful… Passionate…" a wide smile spread across his face as he tipped his head in Marcellas direction. He was surely implying to his new acquaintance that there had been more than a little something that had happened between him and Marcella... although it wasn't true. But she didn't know that. If there was interest on Mairéad's part, perhaps he could mix in a healthy dose of uncertainty. And if he could produce event a tinge of jealousy in Marcella by the fact that he was hitting on another woman, well… that would be truly fantastic.

But Kardek was completely unprepared for Mairéad's next inquiry. As she voiced her suspicions, he had started to take another swig of the remaining shot glass. He immediately spewed the rest of the shot into the air, lurching forward in absolute horror at her suggestion that himself and Alpha were… were… DATING.

"What the Kriff?!"
He exclaimed through a fit of coughing from the burning of the alcohol. Alpha looked around awkwardly, more than a bit embarrassed at both the scene that had transpired as well as the suggestion. He leaned backward in his chair, catching Mairéad's eyes with Kardek in-between them, shaking his head fervently to dispel any possibility of such a notion.

Kardek leaned forward, setting down the now empty shot glass with a forceful clink against the floor, then stretching back up straight, as if trying to regain his composure. He took in a deep breath, exhaling slowly as he turned towards Mairéad, a look of disbelief evident. He was surely a bit offended at the prospect, taking the offered glass and raising it to no-one in particular, shaking his head slowly.

"Cheers." He said with an edge of irritation as he downed the shot quickly. He was also still processing the possibility that Marcella and Mairéad were an item. The possibility was not favorable and made him a tid bit annoyed to say the least.

He did not share any more regarding the details of his and Alpha's neural connection, ever a man of discretion.

Jai smiled, nodding a bit to Niki before speaking up quietly, notably not hiding his Concord Dawn accent like he had been doing.

"Till next time, ma'am." He then looked around, taking a bit of a breath as he noticed some new faces to him, and some he hadn't seen there yet. One part was catching what Mai had to say to one of new comer, to him at least, and almost dying of laugher at the whole thing. He just couldn't help it, That was just too good. That made him feel a bit easier too. He then took not of Raven, giving a nod and a tip of the glass to say hello.

As Kardek Alpha Kardek Alpha slid his arm behind her gave him a disapproving look, but a friendly one, there was no malice in him wanting to flirt with her. But his words, his silver tongued, carefully chosen and almost taunting words. What game was he playing? Who did he think he was. The air around her began to chill as her mood changed from playful to annoyed, but she would not bite. His part history with Marcella was absolutely none of her business and any jealousy of it would be inappropriate.

To try and to put it out of her head she asked her own question about his relationship with his droid, the response was instant and obvious. The drink sprayed into the air in front of them and she almost blushed with embarrassment of the situation. She waited for him to compose himself and made a little gesture to Alpha as way of apology.

She then turned to Kardek and her face took on a more serious note. "Right, we need to stop, we are dangerously close to getting off on the wrong foot.

I don't know what that was? My interest in Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora clearly bothers you. Trying to make me jealous though for whatever purpose, that is disrespectful to me, and using your past together is disrespectful to her, understand?

...however, we appear to have both said something that should rather be withdrawn, so how about it? We stay out of each other's private lives and enjoy what I anticipate being an entertaining professional life?"

She poured half of her remaining whiskey into Kardek's glass and held it up to toast an agreement.

Whilst the curious part of her wondered how she would respond, Mairéad hoped Marcella had not seen such an exchange, regardless of who was at fault, it was not a situation that was exactly oozing with class. It wouldnt be long before the women on the platform were going to speak, that was, after all, what they were all gathered for. And it might be nice for all of the guests to survive to the speeches. She thought of Kardek, and she thought back to the other night with Ragos Terrek Ragos Terrek .... "boys"

Kardek Alpha

As Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus took on a more serious tone with him, it was apparent that she had seen his little trap. However, much to his delight, she appeared to have misunderstood the intent of the trap entirely as she shared some very juicy tidbits of information. His eyes sparkled with delight, his posture almost reminiscent of a child watching an enrapturing holomovie as his palm rested against his chin, listening to her confess having an interest in Marcella. Her word choice caused him to smile internally as she did not say "relationship" and only spoke of her own "interest". From this, Kardek deducted that, yes, Mairéad did carry interest in Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora , but they were not together… not yet at least. And it was yet unclear if Marcella returned the affection. But it was likely that there had been no actual conversations between the two of them regarding this matter. This was his conclusion.

And that was simply fantastic.

The best part was, Kardek had actually said nothing about having any actual interest in Marcella. He could play the whole thing off as a pure misunderstanding on Mairéad's part. He did his best to contain his inner delight as she concluded her rebuke, instead putting on a face of personified innocence as he pulled away from her, wide eyes and all…

"Disrespectful? Me? Make you jealous?" He placed a hand on his chest, in fake disbelief that he could ever be accused of such things, "My dear, the only crime I have committed is flirting with a beautiful women who appears to have not enjoyed it in the slightest. I had no idea you carried interest towards Marcella, but hey, great for you! She is truly a wonderful woman. Not really my type though, to be honest…" eh… honest might be a stretch… "I am terribly sorry about upsetting you. It appears that you misunderstood my comments regarding Marcella as a hint of some past fling we had… I was merely commenting on her incredible passion that she pours into everything she does! Such as these exquisite cigarras..." At that, he turned and took in another hit of the one still burning in his hand, a slight smirk crept onto his lips for the briefest of seconds. "But yes. Let's start over. Professional. Of coarse." He took the offered fill of his shot glass and downed it quickly, his eye glancing towards Marcella with a suggestive raising of the eyebrow. Who knew how she might interpret it.

Niki Priddy Niki Priddy dipped her nail in the drink and seemed satisfied. If Niki was and, wow, people just kept showing up, he was less and less likely to believe this as some assassination attempt. The amount of characters arriving who varied completely was reassuring. Normally you'd have the thugs or Goons come in, people somewhat expendable but useful, be the bodies in the room to take care of him. This seemed to be exactly what it was looking like, a Family Meeting. But at the back of his mind he was still watching, waiting for the wrong look from just one of these people to make him spring into action.

“I saw what y’did, back on Lyran for that family. You’re a good man for it - I would’ve helped, if I could. Thank-you for your actions that day.”
He looked back at Samuel Exel Samuel Exel at that. He nodded. He hadn't really been thanked for much recently.
"Dominik does tend to be a sweetheart in regards to helping others."

He looked to the two of them, then spoke a little softer. "Think a sweetheart and a good man belong in a group like this?"

Dominik watched her as she talked about the suits in great detail. The tactical appreciation, the awareness of how to make something like that work and the use of the suit, just... the mind on this one. It was impressive and he thought he could listen to her talk about making things all day. He took a sip of the drink Nyx N1X3 Nyx N1X3 had given him and... blinked. Wow. That was... that was really good. The droid knew how to make a beverage. He kept sipping at it.

“Think a sweetheart and a good man belong in a group like this?”
. . .
At Dominik’s comment, the man tilted his head some, taking careful measure of his words as he weighed his response in his mind. It was after this moment of silence, the man spoke quietly, with a similar soft disposition. “I think…that a good man, is not always determined by the groups he interacts with. Sometimes, it is not always a choice for them. Other times, it is, but they believe they are doing the right thing. Or perhaps they feel a bit lost. I cannot say for certain.” His eyes looked over Dominik’s form again whilst he spoke. He was not quite sure, but he may have recognized the man’s inflection - how to put it...reflective? As if they were evaluating their own character, and they were troubled at the thought of it. “...But, if you’re asking my opinion,” After another short intermission in his words, “I think it depends more on the deeds you conduct, and the content of your character. Everyone has a past, and though they may not always be pretty, it is decided by the individual what they will do next. So, that question, too, will ultimately depend on whether you believe you should be apart of it, or not.” It is there he left it at - perhaps he had spoken a little too much, adjusting his collar in a bit of a nervous fidget as his studious watch flitted away from the man. That was the most Samuel had spoken to anyone in his time here thus far, as he usually kept his sentences concise and formal. Topics like that, he usually spoke his mind on the matter, and it often got him into trouble with one crowd or another. He hoped this was not one of those cases, from what he has seen from the man thus far. Frankly, he too, was inexperienced when it came to The Family. It was a reasonable question to ask - and one he should be asking to himself, as well.

"Nothing terrifically complicated. Nano-weave production. Surprised the plate carriers are so comfortable in your suit. But then again those and the holsters are easy enough to hide if you iron the seems just so. Well made for someone tending the bar." He refocused back to Niki’s response, revealing a faint smile at that. The man always enjoyed talking about his creations, and has gone for a long, long while since doing so. He did not seem to mind her analysis of his own suit - figuring she had scanners in her eye, perhaps? Or somewhere else, as he once had on his person? “I appreciate that, though it was certainly a far-cry away from what I was used to. I used a similar method - the plate carriers were the easy part. Though, it would seem its lining needs to be adjusted if you could tell those were there.” Accompanied by soft huff. “Never could get the hang of that part.” Annoyed at his own mistake.

A glance between the two as she spoke - perhaps catching another sort of look he may have recognized from Dominik, who was seemingly lost in thought as he looked at Niki. He hid his amusement, however, for it was not wholly his business (if he was correct about said business in the first place, but he had a pretty good feeling through experience). It was then she finished with her last line of thought - “…Then again, the bar seems to attract all sorts of attention." It was in response where the man gave a small nod of his head, “You are correct, miss. Once, it was usually of the less fortunate kind every other encounter.” His tone was something of a small jest, but Samuel was admittedly unnerved at how much it used to happen.

Code Of Silence
Factory Judge

The hum of conversation in the opulent meeting room continued, almost unabated. The Donna stood atop the dais, engaging quietly in conversation with her Caporegime while she waited - patiently - for everyone to wrap up their conversations & finish obtaining refreshments. A few minutes passed, with Ivory recognizing the approach of one of the serving droids - which was halted by the armored 7-foot tall Twi’lek Warrior who stood at The Donna’s side. Ivory did not intervene, simply observing her Capo.

Finally, it was time…

The Donna turned back to the assembled gathering of comrades, retaking her position at the top of the dais. She reached up, clapping her hands three times sharply; each sounding like the report of a blaster as it echoed off of the high ceilings. She drew the attention of everyone present, and waited until conversation ceased & all eyes were on her before continuing:

“Very well, it seems as-if everyone has wetted their thirst. I’m pleased to see the open bar was such a big hit. Thank you, Samuel.” She said, giving the well-dressed, mild-mannered bartender a look.

“On to business.”

“Firstly, I’d like to welcome you all, again, to The Spire - Moonveil’s Coruscant Headquarters. Without the support of this Corporation, our Organization would not be able to function as discreetly as we do today. The building you find yourself in is one of four Corporate Plazas - the other three, located on Denon, Nar Shaddaa, and Chandrila, respectively, each serve in their own way to legitimize & empower our Organization. The Corporation is a fully-functioning, entirely legitimate venture with a vast number of resources & assets, it’s own dedicated Security Forces, connections within numerous Planetary Governments as-well-as affiliations with the Galactic Alliance, and functions effectively as a screen for our operations across the galactic stage.”

“Behind me,” she continued, glancing slightly over her shoulder at Stardust, DeData, and Marcella, “Are my Caporegime. It is extremely rare that you’ll find all four of us together under a single roof.”

The Donna stepped aside, indicating with an open palm toward Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora .

“Many of you are already familiar with Ms. Fiora, but many of you may not be familiar with her specific duties within our Organization. Marcella is Director of Acquisitions for Moonveil Communications & Holdings, and it is through her that much of our business through Moonveil is conducted. Marcella is my Counterpart; where I cannot go, she can. She is the Face of our Organization to the Public at large, and it is through her efforts that our reach continues to expand into all areas of the Public Sector.”

Ivory then indicated the imposing, armored, green-skinned Twi’lek woman.

“A woman who needs little introduction. Stardust Solus Skirae Stardust Solus Skirae , a Mandalorian of Clan Solus. Some of you have seen Stardust in action… Most of you have heard stories.” The Donna flashed a grin. “Stardust heads our Enforcement wing, and is responsible for the defense of our interests. She is my Fist, and my Fury. My scorching wind. My Eternal Flame in the darkness. She is The Family’s Sentinel & Principle Guardian, and her connections with Clan Solus are invaluable - providing not only support in times of violence, but also a connection to the Outer Rim through Clan Solus’ homeworld of Vanquo.”

Finally, Ivory indicated the silent, helmeted, feminine figure. Dedata | Celty Ree Dedata | Celty Ree

“And last, but not least, is DeData; head of The Family’s Cyber-Intelligence Division. DeData is one of the greatest Netrunners I’ve ever seen, and is solely responsible for our interests in the Digital World. Everyone may have noticed she does not speak. She doesn’t have to. Her actions speak louder than words.”

With that, The Donna turned back to regard the gathered beings in the room.

“Together, these three women provide priceless resources & support to our endeavors, and their orders are to be followed as-if I, myself, were giving them. I have entrusted each of them with knowledge, skills, and authority. For those of you who seek to grow within our Organization, they are the ones to emulate.”

With that, she paused… long enough to survey the crowd. After a few heartbeats, apparently satisfied with the response in the room, she continued - lacing her fingers in-front of her.

“To clear up any misunderstandings, and clarify our mission, my Caporegime and I thought it best to explain - in clear terms - our goals, moving forward. Firstly, and this is most important: Our Organization is one of Secrecy & Discretion. We do not, individually or collectively, engage in actions which would bring undue attention from any source which might seek to harm the collective. Certain actions, such as wanton violence, engaging in slavery, or actively threatening members of Law Enforcement or Governments will be dealt with immediately and harshly. Secondly, The Family’s primary motivation is Influence - not money. Our numbers are small, and we are not capable of fighting wars on every front; therefore, we must always seek to do more with less. Thirdly, Loyalty shall be rewarded…” she paused, raking an intense stare across the entire room, making a point to meet every set of eyes directed toward her… including those of the serving droid ( Nyx N1X3 Nyx N1X3 ) which had approached the dais earlier. “...and betrayal, punished. Once you leave this meeting, you will each find yourselves walking amongst a population which has no idea we exist… and my Caporegime & I intend to keep it that way. Forever.”

The finality of that statement hung in the air like a terrible set of claws, dripping caustic venom.

The Donna’s face had grown cold; an impassive mask with chips of violet ice set within - boring deeply into the minds & hearts of everyone present to ensure they each understood what was at-stake.

And then, just as quickly as it had manifested, her attitude changed - brightening like a newborn star or sunlight after a passing storm.

“That being said, each of you have been invited here today based on your individual merits. Some of you,” she said, looking toward Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus , Niki Priddy Niki Priddy & Aurelius Baldor Aurelius Baldor , “have done a phenomenal job utilizing the resources available to you outside of our Organization to expand & improve not only your own personal influence, but ours as well. Others,” she continued, looking first toward Diocletian Kahmen’’a Diocletian Kahmen’’a , then onto Jai'galaar Gred Jai'galaar Gred and finally Dominik Borra Dominik Borra , “have proven yourselves time & time again in-defense of the lives of your fellows, and of those standing here upon this platform.”

“To each & every one of you, I offer my heartfelt appreciation, and a solemn promise to uphold your honor just as you uphold mine.”

To this, The Donna reached out and retrieved a freshly poured glass of bourbon from a small table beside her, offering it in a toast to the entire room. Then, she brought the glass to her lips, and drained its contents in a single swallow. If anyone in the crowd joined her in the toast, it would be a welcome sight, indeed. As she set it down, she smiled; surveying the room again, hoping to see the faces of her Family smiling back at her. Any tension from earlier had entirely evaporated from her face and she appeared entirely pleased. Ivory rubbed her hands together, expressing excitement.

"Now, then... I have a treat for you all. A gesture of faith, and an offer of opportunities. Please help me welcome two very important men within Moonveil's hierarchy: Niko D'Aquila, Chief Executive Officer for Moonveil, Incorporated & recently-appointed member of the Direx Board on Denon - and Moonveil's Chief Legal Counsel and my Consiglieri... Arturo Arturo ."

The Donna stretched out a hand toward the double-doors they'd each used to enter the room, which (as-if on cue) swung open to reveal two well-dressed, handsome men in suits as they stepped into the room. One was human, projecting an air of charisma & energy with a smile that could light up the darkest room, and the other, a blue-skinned Pantoran dressed in white. The Donna put her hands together in a round of applause, indicating to the room that they, too, should join her.

"...And I said, 'Then why did you wear it?'"

Arturo finished with the punchline, and Niko laughed. A full belly laugh. He leaned back in his chair and kept laughing. It felt good to laugh. As much as Arturo was the man to talk a lot, there weren't many times in the past years when he had laughed like when he was around Arturo. And some of his jokes were just comedy gold. He pounded his fist twice on the desk before Envy stood up slightly straighter than she had. He suppressed his laughter into giggles, then thoroughly crushed it and threw it down to where it came from. He regained his composure and waited for Envy to report what had caught her attention.

"Ivory has spoken the keywords." Envy reported. "It is time to move to the doors."

"Ah, perfect timing then! Glad to have the chat, Nick. We should do this more often." Arturo said, rising from his chair. It wasn't often he actually got to spend time with the big blue guy. They had their differences, but there was hardly a soul in the galaxy he couldn't win over. Maybe those Maw people, but he wasn't sure they had souls to begin with. And that joke was perfect for Niko.

Both men got up and walked just across the hall toward the doors that lead to the large room with everyone inside. They stood there for a moment, Envy placing herself deliberately on Arturo's side instead of between them. She still worked for them both, but perhaps her programming prioritizing Arturo made her want to present herself that way as well. Arturo didn't seem to mind or notice. Maybe he was used to having her stand on that side of him.

Arturo started rocking back and forth on his heels and toes, waiting. Niko simply took in a breath, invisible man-speak for 'quiet down'. Arturo whistled. Niko cleared his throat. Arturo turned to the masked guard near him and asked, "We got a lot of colorful characters, don't we?" Niko closed his eyes and let out a soft sigh while the guard said nothing, but nodded. Arturo nodded as well and returned to standing still. And waited.

.

..

...

"Hey, um," For the first time in Niko's life, Arturo didn't have his usual charm and inflection in his voice. "Do you think that Ivory-" The doors began to open and Arturo quickly shut his mouth and regained his dashing smile.

Niko retained the same air of calm, control, and conservative strength. The opposite of Arturo's loud but charming smile, quick eyes and posture with his hands in his pockets. Of course, he had to have his hands in his pockets. Though his question made Niko want to raise his brow, he had to keep his whole appearance.

The doors opened fully and revealed the two men. They stepped in to join the group, keeping side by side. Niko remained professional and examined the room. A colorful crowd indeed. Arturo joined in on the applause, happy and excited to be there. Envy also applauded, but she did so slowly, her claps heavy with the intention to beat anyone who didn't applaud. "Hello, everyone! I'm Arturo, and that is Niko D'Aquila!" He said, gesturing to each of himself and Niko in kind.

Arturo looked around the crowd looking around the same way Niko did but his bright eyes and perfect smile lingered on the new ladies in the room, particularly Saraiya Darkstar Saraiya Darkstar , Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus , and Niki Priddy Niki Priddy . The first two he gave discreet winks to, while the third had a man looking at him as if he was ready to push the glass of his drink into Arturo's eyes. He did not give a wink at her. This was a room full of dangerous, dangerous people, he had to remind himself of that. And not all of them had yet to become Made.

There came the time for them both to look at Ivory Stroud Ivory Stroud and her Capos, Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora , Stardust Solus Skirae Stardust Solus Skirae , and Dedata | Celty Ree Dedata | Celty Ree . Niko bowed at the waist, but Arturo had to show him up by getting on one knee while he did so. Niko remained standing and bowing at the waist. He didn't need to compete with Arturo, Ivory and her Capos knew of his dedication and service. They also knew of Arturo's need to be seen, along with his own dedication and service. They operated and performed differently, and the difference in how they presented themselves without fighting the other would show their confidence in themselves but also in another.

Envy, while they bowed, took a small step to the side and surveyed the room. She made particular note of the other droids in the room, narrowing her eyes at them.

They rose at the same time and Niko was the first to speak at the crowd. "It's good to finally meet those I've heard so much about."

'St. James Infirmary'

As she stood by the boss, Marcy' overlooked the many faces of her family. She'd recognised some new faces, smirked at the droid being stopped by her fellow Caporegime and gave both a confused and concerned look at both Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus and @Kardek Alpha~ she would've loved to have known what they were talking about.

Overall she remained mostly silent however, maintaining her aura as a bastion of power; acting her part in heightening their reverence for the Donna, silently stating her power as a foundation of the boss. As Ivory's speech went on, she nodded to as her name was brought up, then joined everyone in applause for Niko and Arturo~ a few more familiar faces.

She glanced to the droid, glaring before she spoke

approach again without being called upon and I shall see you become a light switch

She was firm with her threat, moving to take her place on the dais as she stood tall and crossed her arms looking around the room scanning for any threats before she took to simply looking forward letting her hud take control as she merely glanced now with her eyes as her hud gave her a full view entirely around her.

When stardust was mentioned by ivory she merely turned her head toward her and then back to the crowd as she made sure to make her weapons visible...and that was just the tip of the iceberg for the mandalorian...and she knew that many knew that themselves. Truth be told she was feeling pretty prideful as she glanced directly to Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus and nodded her head when she was mentioned before glancing to Arturo Arturo when he entered as she stepped back just a bit to let him up to speak but stayed in a position she could react to any threat needed

Mairéad laughed aloud "Really... REALLY? Oh my word Kardek Alpha Kardek Alpha you are a fun one aren't you." she laughed again. She was very suspicious of this man's intent, but his attitude and demeanour was very entertaining. "And don't sell yourself short, I am enjoying your attention slightly" she held her fingers very close together and with a smile and a wrinkle of her nose mouthed the words "only slightly". She didn't quite feel like having this charming man as her competition, better to have him as a friend.

The trio would have to settle down now because the bosses were beginning their speeches. She listened well to Ivory Stroud Ivory Stroud and felt a level of pride as she caught the Donna's eye during the speech, she had moved around a lot in life and she felt settled here, she felt glad to be making progress and receiving recognition. She didn't know whether applause was necessary as Ivory listed of names, some she knew, some she didn't, and apparently some brand new faces.

She spotted Marcella Fiora Marcella Fiora and detected just the hint of confusion on her face. Mairéad smirked and smiled at the Caporegime, she might have sent a code signal if the glance was longer and she wasn't in a room full of those who would understand the signal.

And then there was Stardust Solus Skirae Stardust Solus Skirae , another woman she owed so much to, in Star's case it was her very life. Mairéad had come to see the Twi'lek almost like a mother figure now since joining her family more than a year previously and the look of pride from the woman made her feel warm inside. The bosses seemed like they had more to say and Mairéad looked on, fascinated by what might be coming.

Kardek Alpha

I’m Kardek, He’s Alpha
"Really... REALLY? Oh my word Kardek you are a fun one aren't you." The Gunslinger broke out into a wide and genuine smile, his eyes turning back to the woman seated next to him. The crafted front he had portrayed seemed to diminish for a moment as he joined her in the amusement of his own shenanigans, chuckling softly. "And don't sell yourself short, I am enjoying your attention slightly" He bowed his head in an almost humble response, then shook his head with a laugh in a moment of transparency,

"I can't compete with the likes of Marcella. You truly have a good eye, my friend." He gave her a wink, his expression genuine with almost a bit of an apologetic air about it. His eyes seemed to sadden slightly as he turned and took another drag from his cigarra. He knew he didn't stand a chance with Marcella, especially with the likes of Mai vying for her interest. And more importantly, he knew he didn't deserve her affections at all. Sometimes he allowed for himself to forget the things he had done and let himself fall into the delusion that he could truly belong here… that he could truly find happiness. But he didn't deserve it.

He deserved to be alone. He could never allow for himself to forget that.

As Ivory Stroud Ivory Stroud began to speak, he settled into his chair and listened. She went down the line, expounding on the roles of the Capo's at her side. Most of this Kardek already knew, but there were some bits that were new. As the Donna began to offer gratitude to the various family members in the room, Kardek was attentive to observe who she made eye contact with. These were the ones who would obviously be regarded more highly by the Donna. He made mental notes… one of which was glaringly apparent, being that the Donna did not make eye contact with himself.

He shifted his weight a bit uncomfortably in his chair, furrowing his eyebrows as he processed what that might mean. Yes, he had been off on Family business for an extended period of time… but it seemed that such an assignment was a mistake. He had missed important meetings, important conversations… and had ultimately fallen to the peripheral of the Donna's sight. It seemed that even his new acquaintance, Mairéad Solus Mairéad Solus , had a stronger standing than he did. He had assumed she was an Associate like himself. Perhaps she was Made.

He had missed too much.

He leaned forward and smushed the butt of his cigarra into an ash tray, a rather solemn expression etched across his face. He would need to stay closer to the Capo's, allow for them to rebuild their faith in him. It would take time, but he would not rest until he was established and favored once again.

He raised his empty glass at the Donna's toast, simultaneously snapping his fingers at a passing service droid ( Nyx N1X3 Nyx N1X3 ) in an unspoken request for a top-off.

Kardek clapped his hand silently against the glass in his hand at the entrance of Arturo Arturo , his face remaining contemplative and rather disconnected from the current events.
