SPECIAL FEATURES
DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
Infrared, Rangefinder and Lifeform modes allow for easy recognition of targets (friends, enemies, etc.) through heat and sentience detection. Eye color can also be changed for aesthetic purposes, and projection mode allows the user to project what they’re seeing in a holoprojection display from their eyes. Recording and capture capabilities allow for video (audio and sound) to be recorded and transmitted to a synced device.

Strengths:
  • Can flip between three modes: Infrared, Range and Lifeform
  • Can record video and audio clips
  • No physical drain on the user
  • Virtually undetectable
Weaknesses :
  • Vulnerable to EMP/Ion weaponry
  • Power drains quickly
  • Delicate—must be applied, removed and stored properly
  • May cause eyes irritation
DESCRIPTION
The HH Iris is a computerized contact lens aimed at field agents and infiltrators. The Iris words similarly to a heads-up display, though its capabilities are limited by its overall size and functionality. When activated, the Iris projects what the user sees as a standard viewscreen similar to that of a HUD in a helmet. An outside observer would not be able to see what the user is looking at unless the Iris is in projection mode.

The Iris has several functions that can be flipped through, the first being an infrared mode that allows the users to identify sources of heat and motion even in darkness. A built in lifeform scanner helps the user in the detection of living things (targets, enemies, friendlies, etc.) both sentient and non-sentient at a distance, even those hidden with cloaking devices (non stygium or personal cloaking device), stealth fields and sound dampeners. A rangefinder mode zooms in on distant objects and provides the user with a basic visual data readout (range, size, species, etc.) of whatever they’re focusing on. The Iris is able to record anything in the user’s field of vision (video and audio), though it lack the ability to store video clips. Instead, any records are transmitted to a synced device where they can be viewed live. Only a single mode can be active at once. The Iris can also access the holonet and can be synced to personal data devices, as well as change eye color for aesthetic reasons.

Given that the Iris is applied directly to the sclera of the user, it has some potential to cause eye irritation. Minor inflammation can be relieved with any standard lubricating eye drops, though in very rare cases a user’s body could reject the Iris all together and cause severe irritation. The Iris itself is a delicate product and must be handled properly given that it is prone to tearing with improper usage. As with many electrical devices, the Iris is vulnerable to EMP/Ion weaponry and should it become disabled, it will take several minutes for it to reboot. Additionally, the Iris can only be used for 3 hours max before going through a one hour recharge period. Switching through different modes, activating an eye color change, recording and using projection mode will all cause the charge to drain quicker.
