Farworlds Alliance
A beast tore the ground of Refuge open. Now ancient scars are open for all to view. A primordial evil waits within, eager to resume its dark designs.

When the Suma-Verminoth ripped the earth of the ancient ring world asunder, the dim interior of a forgotten structure was exposed to the light of day. Jalen, well trained in Force Sight, could feel the many chambers below that had been sealed for what may have been tens of thousands of years by now. He would be tasked by Matthew of Valendale Matthew of Valendale to enter, and would lead others into the facility to explore it's depths in an impromptu expedition. When he stepped through the mouth of the gateway the blind Jedi Knight ran his hand along the worn, though surprisingly sterile surface of the wall. It lacked ornate carving, only simplistic geometric grooves. The structure was brutality, as though the people who had constructed it were highly militarized.

Worst of all, things were alive down here. Dark things. Jalen could feel their presence in the Force, even as they lay in stasis. Perhaps the beast was in stasis as well, the heavy machinery from the construction somehow damaging the means by which it was being contained.

"There are two large chambers to the East and West of the structure," Jalen relayed. North and South on refuge were the longest lengths of the ring respectively. "We'll split up and investigate either. Just... mind yourselves. I can feel large support pillars everywhere. They stretch deep. I think this place was anchored into place a long time ago... maybe even when the ring was made."

Who knew how long ago that was.

"I'll take East," he finally added after a moment of silent thought. "If you find something strange, subdue it if you can. We'll learn more from it alive."

Now all that was left was to enter and brave the depths.

Normally, Ashley would insist on bringing her whole platoon. Normally, she'd insist they don't split up.

But there was work to be done.

Instead, she had handpicked a team of five.

Herself, because she wouldn't make anyone do anything she wasn't willing to do.

2nd Lieutenant "Boxer" Clark Skyskipper, her oldest friend and the only person she could trust to lead in her stead if things went south.

Specialist "Mouth" Ran Kelt, an ammo bearer from first squad that she had picked mostly to keep the mood light, but also because she needed to get him away from his squadmates for a while. The lack of combat had been keeping him bored. And when he was bored, he filled his time by talking. Always talking. Never saying anything, just...talking.

She needed to shut him up.

Specialist "Grenade" Bombock, a woman she picked for the opposite reason. The wookie never said a word, but she knew how to wrestle a rancor if need be into submission, and carried enough grenades to cave them in.

Corporal "Shotgun" Tese Gramda, who she picked mostly because she knew she'd be the only one with enough experience with explosives that she could deal with actual cave ins without killing everyone.

And finally, Corporal "Devil" Voz Nul, because if they were diving into the depths of hell, Ashley wanted the devil to come with them. Even if it was just symbolic.

"We'll be taking west." Ashley said with a sigh, looking to her men. Mouth was already rambling off about some weird thing he'd read on the holonet about cave creatures and how the caves on Tatooine had some sort of dragon out of them. Ashley didn't pretend to care. Instead, she looked to Boxer.

"You think we'll be good?"

"You're always the worrier."

"Someone has to be." Ashley sighed. "You're right, we should be fine."

Novac couldn't be more excited to explore this place. He'd already explored a lot of old ruins but this was different, all the other places he could find at least a shred of information about. This was obviously not on any records.

Going down into the hole novac's takl landed with a soft thud, his hk droid on the other hand jumped straight in landing with a loud clank. Novac just looked at him for a moment like 'really'. Of course the droid wouldn't even try to be quiet. Not like there could be more monstrous creatures down here that could have heard that.

"We'll take the west also." he said as he waved for kairo to follow.

He was half listening to the one guy rambling on about tatooines caves until he heard mention of a creature. "oh you mean the krayt dragons? I've always wanted to see one of those magnificent beasts. To see one of the greater ones thought? the 100 meter long ones is like a life goal almost." he said with a smile.

Shuklaar didn't like this place. It felt...off. He'd been around all manner of foul before, but this place felt...worse, somehow, and he was no force sensitive. He was perhaps a little more thankful for his armor's micronized voidstone lining than he would have admitted if asked. He knew one thing for sure, there was not much if anything at all that could stand up to the firepower of the MCDC-01 Man-portable Class-D Disruptor Cannon he was hefting around.

He heard the Jetii'ika's instructions, but there was no way in haran he was leaving him on his own to explore that passage by himself. "We're coming with you, ad'ika," said Shuklaar, placing a nav marker over the battlenet for the four
SD-01R 'Gar Ram'ser' Siege Droids in lead to move on. Nothing about his tone told Jalen that he was going to be entertaining any arguments.

Shuklaar made sure to keep enough distance so that he would be out of the effects of the force nullification, as did the droids and the organic troops of Strill Securities. Right behind the droids, a squad of nine ID-01MR 'Gar Verd' Infantry Droids and nine Shocktroopers with 'Lirsa' Tactical/Riot Shields. They moved together, seamlessly, as if they'd drilled together for decades, in appropriate combat spacing, weapons up and at the ready for whatever this place may hold.

Aran was on the surface of this crater with a whole company's worth of armored vehicles and troops, ready to come to rescue if things went to haran in a hurry. If Shuklaar was remembering how things went in the days of the CIS and their missions that went like this, then he was willing to bet a ridiculous sum of money that they would, and spectacularly so. When they did, in the very least they had enough firepower to send whatever was down here straight to haran, or in the very least, bury it down here with them.

As the Onyx Runner dropped down past the stratosphere and into the atmosphere of Refuge, Ran Serys watched the strange and sudden series of events play out on her scanners before she saw the fallout with her own eyes. She had come to Refuge in hopes of providing aid for the growing refugee population, but what she got was a massive hole in the ground, a wreckage of new construction and wasted material and tools, and finally the remains of a giant dead creature. What was left was more scattered than whole. Its main body had been blown to smithereens with only a few inky black tendrils left as evidence. Ran looked on with great curiosity, but not surprise, as she watched the dust settle from her cockpit. She had seen much over her time traveling the galaxy's star lanes, this was just another drop in the bucket.

Taking the Onyx Runner down for a landing was easy enough. It was approaching the area of destruction by foot that proved more difficult. Over damaged structures, albeit temporary structures, construction equipment, and rocky debris, Ran traveled until she reached the threshold of the scattered dead giant's dwelling. She dared to descend even farther until she was upon a group of Farworlds Alliance members and company, the former of which she had the intention of joining up with.

She had joined the group just in time to hear their plan. They would travel into the revealed underground structure, split up into two groups, one would go east while the others went west. They were also to expect danger and to deal with it as instructed.

"I will go east as well." Ran said to Jalen Kai'el Jalen Kai'el and Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol . "I am no stranger to dusty chambers and dark dungeons, and will help in anyway I can." The Jedi explorer and archaeologist announced as she stared into the darkness of the structure. Her mutant yellow eyes glowed like that of a wild animal, and she focused on the ancient architecture of the walls. One could learn a lot about a culture based on what they've built. She could see that whatever ancient culture gave birth to this structure betrayed very little about its workings, which was telling in its own way.

"We're coming with you, ad'ika,"
"I will go east as well."

"Right," Jalen nodded.

No argument would come from him. He was a medic, after all. Efficiency was his MO. He gave a quick 'good luck' to the other party before treading off into the darkness alongside the droids that Breshig had brought along with them. Jalen could feel the Force nullifying tech on Shuklaar. It made him a bit hazy in the Force, which wasn't the end of the world. He'd rather they have the means to shut something down than not.

In the meantime, the blind Jedi's hands studied the walls. He was searching for any symbols he may recognize. Nothing thus far.

"I don't recognize the script," he relayed. "No recognizable characters... This place is dark, but nothing here matches any Sith site I've been in..."

And then he paused, cocking his head to the wall. He rested his ear close and took in the sounds and feelings around him. Some of his expression was masked by the bandage wrapped around his eyes. Blind as they were they still offered some window into his emotional state. After a moment he spoke again.

"Data lines, I think," the Knight muttered. "Some frequency is being sent from one point to another. Something up ahead is being told that we're here..."

Then he simply pressed on.

"Let's keep moving."

Brander had never been on a real 'mission,' let alone an impromptu one. He did, however, want to accompany his new mentor and keep her company.

He did not know much about Jalen Kai'el Jalen Kai'el , but he found it rather funny that they were following a blind man into the depths of the earth. Then again, his own first teacher had been a blind man who did not see things the way most people did… He was uncertain if Jalen was Miralukan like that, though.

There seemed to be a great deal of firepower brought down with them, so he did not feel too frightened about what they might run into, despite the terrifying monster that had burst out of the ground and revealed this place to begin with.

Brander eyed the walls curiously, trying to understand what kind of place this was. The cool air clung to the stone, and the long corridors reminded him, in some manner of speaking, of the facility he had been made in. That place had been built deep underground, too. He did not much care for the safety of walls; he preferred the wide open air.

"So… like a proximity alert? Or even… an alarm?" he asked, uncertain what Jalen may have meant.

He decidedly stayed close to Ran Serys Ran Serys 's side, flanking her just a little to her left and back. He hooked his thumbs into his overall straps to keep his hands busy as he walked along with the group, letting his gaze shift over the strange writing.

"I will go east as well." Ran said to Jalen Kai'el Jalen Kai'el and Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol . "I am no stranger to dusty chambers and dark dungeons, and will help in anyway I can."

"Let's hope that's all it is," said Shuklaar as he watched the picture-in-picture feed coming from the four SD-01R 'Gar Ram'ser' Siege Droids as they moved onward further into the facility. Reconnaissance by force was the prevailing thought of the day, Shuklaar didn't trust the things that were still down here to stay dead. He'd make sure they stayed dead if they weren't so feeling inclined.

"No recognizable characters... This place is dark, but nothing here matches any Sith site I've been in..."

"You know, ad'ika, I really don't think the dar'jetii buit this place," said Shuklaar, memories of the structures they had encountered on Honoghr coming to mind immediately. He didn't know who the shab built them, but he knew for sure it looked like nothing he'd ever seen those sorry shabuire build. He wasn't so sure he liked those implications.

"Data lines, I think," the Knight muttered. "Some frequency is being sent from one point to another. Something up ahead is being told that we're here..."

Shuklaar quickly sent the signal for 'mines' over the battlenet. There was no pre-programmed signal for 'ancient structure with traps' He could clarify over comms, but this got the message across effectively enough that he didn't care to. The whole adhoc formation with him began moving slower, more carefully, checking corners twice. No traps, yet.

"So… like a proximity alert? Or even… an alarm?" he asked, uncertain what Jalen may have meant.

"Just like," he answered. "Only question what that means for us," he added a barely a second later. Shuklaar couldn't shake the feeling that he'd seen this ad'ika somewhere before. He didn't entertain the thought for too much longer, however, preferring to keep his mind focused on the situation. Dusty facilities were not his area of expertise, but he'd seen the mission reports from enough CIS Knights Obsidian missions to not know how these could go.

"Let's keep moving."

"Carefully," added Shuklaar. Not keen on the concept of all of them bumbling into another trap and not sure how well Jalen could feel his way around this facility. This had been precisely why he'd sent the droids in lead, they had a much higher chance of surviving what this place had in store for them and who the shab even knew what that was.
