OBJECTIVE ONE: NOBLE STRIKE

Admiral Caldris Melantha has moved House Melantha's fleet into orbital positions around New Bornalex, setting up a hard blockade over the planet. The Farworlds Alliance isn't sure what the High Lord's game is yet, but letting a rogue noble family lock down a newly admitted member world isn't an option. The Alliance has teamed up with Strill Securities to push the house ships back. Allied forces need to punch through the blockade line, clear a path through Caldris's tactical formations, and force the Melantha fleet to give up their grip on orbit before the planet gets completely cut off from the rest of the sector.

SignalJammer111.png-fullview.jpg

OBJECTIVE TWO: SIGNAL JAMMER

Down on the surface, the House Guard has thrown together a heavily fortified camp to protect the construction of a massive signal jammer. Once it goes active, it will completely cut off comms and stop any allied reinforcements from landing on the surface. The nobles have locked down the perimeter under a localized force dome, digging trenches and jury-rigging heavy cargo speeders into improvised gun trucks loaded with artillery and repeating cannons. Ground forces must break through the force field, push past the gun trucks and dug-in guards, and destroy the jammer core before the array goes live.

OBJECTIVE TWO: SIGNAL JAMMER
new-small-bar.png
The blue glow of the holographic table flickered across Jai's heavy veil, casting pale shadows over the camp map. Trench lines, firing positions, and the force dome pulsed across the display while the jammer array continued to fall behind schedule. High Lord Cassian had already voiced his displeasure twice, and Jai had no intention of giving him a third reason to complain.

She turned away from the table, her fingers brushing the plain hilt of her lightfoil, the traditional weapon of Tapani Saber-rakes. Its light weight meant the hilt wouldn't slow her strikes, which suited her just fine. If the rumors were true and the Farworlds Alliance was coming to break the siege, they would find no easy victory waiting for them.

Jai stepped out of the command tent into New Bornalex's humid air. The planet offered her no comfort from the corruption slowly consuming her, but she had long since stopped expecting any. Her two aides followed as she inspected the heavy cargo speeders behind the trench line and the troops packed inside them. Nearby, engineers crowded the scaffolding around the jammer, their plasma torches sending showers of sparks into the mud below.

"The secondary generator for the force dome is pulling too much power from the grid," one aide said from her left, struggling to keep up with her pace. "If the Alliance hits the perimeter there..." Jai barely listened. She had heard enough explanations for one day. Without warning, she stopped and turned toward him, reaching up to brush her fingers against his cheek before shoving him hard enough to send him crashing to the ground.

The aide hit the mud and immediately raised his arms over his head, scrambling to protect himself. "You were given your position to solve problems, not explain them to me and hope I'll take on your responsibility," Jai said dismissively. "If the generator is pulling too much power, then fix it." She turned away and motioned for the other aide to follow.

Her eyes shifted toward him for a moment, silently daring him to offer another piece of useless advice. He wisely said nothing as they continued toward the jammer tower as the massive housing ring was slowly lifted into place by the cranes. Jai watched the machinery rise, ignoring the dull ache pulsing beneath her ribs with every breath.

The troop bay of the LAHT shuddered hard enough to rattle teeth as another burst of flak detonated somewhere off the port side. Red cabin lights washed over the soldiers packed along the benches, catching on olive-drab armor plates, black undersuits, scratched visors, and rifles secured across chests and knees. The gunship had been riding the terrain low since clearing the worst of the atmospheric fighting, its engines screaming whenever the pilot hauled the transport around another ridge or cluster of buildings. Every few seconds the hull gave another dull metallic thump from debris or distant fragmentation. Nobody bothered asking what had hit them.

Laphisto stood near the center of the troop bay with one hand wrapped around an overhead restraint. His rifle remained mag-locked across his back, leaving his helmet tucked beneath his left arm while he looked from one soldier to the next. The open side of the bay gave him brief flashes of the battlefield outside: smoke crawling across the horizon, distant weapons fire, and the occasional streak of flak reaching upward for anything foolish enough to fly high. Three walkers had gone down somewhere in that mess during entry. Only one had checked in afterward.

He waited until the next burst of turbulence passed before raising his voice over the engines. "Alright, listen up. The mission is simple. That shield generator needs to come down eventually, but we've been attached to the task force dealing with the jammer first." Laphisto shifted his helmet beneath his arm and reached up toward the tactical display mounted along the troop bay wall. A taloned finger tapped the projected perimeter where the House Guard had established their defenses. "If you thought breaching atmosphere was difficult, I regret to inform you that was the easy part."

The gunship banked sharply, forcing several soldiers to brace their boots against the deck. Somewhere beyond the hull, another anti-aircraft burst rolled across the sky with a deep, distant concussion. "We lost three walkers during entry. Charfang is the only one still moving with us." His finger moved across the map, stopping near the western side of the city. "One of the others came down somewhere around here, inside the combat zone. If we get an opportunity to recover it, we take it. Until then, it doesn't exist. Don't go wandering halfway across the city chasing equipment while the rest of the battalion is trying to punch through that shield."

Laphisto dragged the display toward the enemy position. The jammer site sat behind a localized force dome, its perimeter marked by trenches, hardened firing points, and heavy cargo speeders converted into stationary gun platforms. Even through the grainy reconnaissance imagery, the silhouettes of artillery pieces and repeating cannons were easy enough to pick out.

"This is what matters." He tapped the map where the most construction was being done. The likely place of the jammer. "They finish that array and everything down here goes deaf. No orbital coordination, no clean reinforcement corridor, and no guarantee anybody upstairs can guide another transport through the fighting without getting it cut apart. That means we're stuck planetside until somebody finds another way to open the door. I don't intend to spend the next month hiding behind enemy lines because some noble with a construction crew managed to finish an antenna."

A few helmets shifted. Someone near the rear checked his rifle's charge without looking down. "We're dropping two kilometers from the shield perimeter. Their flak coverage is too thick for the gunships to take us any closer without handing them easy kills." Laphisto enlarged the terrain map, marking several landing zones across the surrounding district. "The transports are going in scattered. Roughly one kilometer between elements. Once you're on the ground, establish your position, get your people moving, and converge here."

His finger stopped over the town square. "That's the rally point." The LAHT rocked again, harder this time. Warning tones chirped briefly from the cockpit before being silenced, and the soldiers closest to the open bay instinctively leaned away from it. Through the opening, black smoke rolled upward beyond the rooftops while tracer fire climbed through it in bright, uneven streams.

"Once we're assembled, we push for the dome. Expect trenches. Expect overlapping fields of fire. Expect those cargo haulers to have been turned into gun trucks, artillery nests, or whatever else they could bolt a cannon onto." Laphisto pulled his helmet free from beneath his arm and turned it in his hands, checking the seal before continuing. "Do not bunch up when those repeaters start working. Spread your squads, keep moving, and let the gunners waste ammunition trying to pin shadows."

He glanced once toward the rear of the gunship, where the surviving walker would be approaching by its own route. "Charfang has to reach the shield with us. She's the only heavy piece we still have with enough gun to reliably tear those converted cargo speeders apart once we're inside." He slipped the helmet over his head and locked it into place with a hiss. The visor darkened, leaving only the glow of the HUD reflected faintly across its surface. "Infantry keeps the crews off her. Charfang kills the hard targets. We clear a path to the jammer and destroy the core before they bring it online."

His rifle released from the magnetic lock across his back and dropped neatly into his hand. "That's the job." The light above the troop bay doors switched from red to amber. Laphisto pulled the rifle tight against his chest and turned toward the opening as the LAHT descended even lower, skimming rooftops while distant artillery shook dust from the ruined streets below. The soldiers around him began their final weapon checks, tightening straps, sealing helmets, and slapping fresh power cells into place. Outside, the skyline disappeared behind smoke and flak.

The formation stayed low as it pushed across the outskirts, the LAHTs weaving between rooftops and stretches of broken terrain rather than giving the flak batteries a clean line of sight. Smoke hung over the district ahead, flattening against the buildings whenever the engine wash rolled through it, while distant artillery continued hammering somewhere closer to the shield perimeter. Inside Laphisto's gunship, the soldiers sat with rifles across their chests or braced between their knees, most of them watching the open side doors instead of one another. The amber light over the bay remained lit, throwing a dull glow across scratched olive-drab armor and black undersuits. Every few seconds the transport shifted under them as the pilot corrected course around another building or avoided a burst of fire farther ahead.

"Twenty seconds," came the warning from the cockpit. Laphisto kept one hand around the overhead restraint and looked toward the nearest squad. His rifle sat tight against his chest now, helmet already sealed, the tactical display across his visor showing the other transports spread through the district around them. The first hit came before anyone could move toward the doors.

The LAHT snapped sideways hard enough to throw one soldier off the bench and slam another shoulder-first into the bulkhead. Laphisto's grip tightened around the restraint as the transport rolled left, warning tones breaking through the cabin noise while the pilot fought to level them out. Something struck the hull again near the rear of the troop compartment, followed by a sharp metallic crack and a burst of sparks from the ceiling. The gunship dropped several meters, recovered, then began pulling hard to one side.

"Starboard engine's hit!" A third impact followed almost immediately. The shields flashed blue-white along the open side of the gunship and collapsed in a rippling sheet before the round struck the armor beneath them. The Kov'dra plating held, but the section around the impact glowed dark red while smoke poured back past the troop bay. One of the soldiers nearest the opening planted both boots against the deck and grabbed the restraint above him as the transport began drifting toward the buildings ahead.

Laphisto looked through the open bay.

The street outside had tilted. "Brace!" The gunship clipped the upper edge of a building.

The impact tore through masonry and ripped part of the outer wing assembly away, showering the open troop bay with dust and fragments. Soldiers folded into their restraints or slammed against the deck as the LAHT spun across the street, its damaged engine screaming while the pilot fought the controls. Laphisto caught a soldier by the front of his armor before the man could slide toward the open doorway, hauled him back against the bulkhead, and barely had time to turn before another structure filled the entire side of the bay.

The LAHT hit nose-first. The cockpit punched through the outer wall and disappeared into the building, carrying half the troop compartment with it. Interior walls collapsed beneath the hull as the transport drove deeper into the structure, breaking through rooms and support beams before the damaged frame finally caught against something solid. The stop threw Laphisto forward hard enough to wrench his shoulder against the restraint. Equipment broke loose from storage brackets and struck the deck around the soldiers while dust rolled through the bay until the emergency lights were little more than red smears in the haze.

For several seconds, the only sound inside the wreck was damaged machinery winding down and pieces of the building falling around them. Then somebody coughed. Another soldier kicked a storage rack off his legs. Laphisto released the restraint and pushed himself upright, testing his footing before reaching down to haul the nearest man back onto his feet. "Sound off," he ordered. His rifle had stayed secured through the crash, and he pulled it free while the soldiers around him began answering one after another. A medic was already crawling toward a man pinned beside the opposite bench, while two others forced a twisted section of plating away from the side of the bay. Blaster fire struck the exterior of the wreck. Everyone inside stopped looking inward.A second burst punched through the shattered wall beside the gunship and sent chips of duracrete across the compartment. "Contact outside!"

Laphisto moved toward the front of the wreck, stepping over broken equipment and pieces of collapsed ceiling as another burst struck the building. The cockpit had buried itself through most of the second floor, leaving the nose of the gunship lodged among broken walls and furniture. One pilot hung against his harness but was moving; the other had already pulled himself free and was reaching for the emergency release beside his seat. Laphisto pointed toward the rear compartment as he passed. "Get yourselves clear. We're not staying with the ship."

He climbed through the torn opening beside the cockpit and stepped into what remained of the room beyond it. Half the exterior wall was gone. The street below was visible through hanging rebar and broken masonry, with smoke drifting between the buildings and small-arms fire snapping through the gaps. The LAHT had entered high enough to bury itself across the second floor, its rear section still jutting through the outer wall while debris continued sliding from the damaged structure beneath it. Laphisto crouched behind a broken interior wall and brought his rifle to his shoulder as a House Guard soldier appeared in a window across the street.

He fired twice. the rifle barked as it sent 30-06 rounds hard inside the ruined room, each shot sharp enough to cut through the hiss of damaged machinery behind him. Brass spun from the action and bounced across the floor while the rounds punched chunks from the window frame opposite them. The House Guard soldier disappeared back inside as fractured masonry sprayed into the room around him.

"Windows and stairwell, Get the wounded off the wreck."

The first squad spread through the damaged floor while the others began pulling injured soldiers from the troop bay. Two riflemen settled against what remained of the outer wall and started firing controlled pairs across the street. Their rifles kicked against their shoulders with each shot, rounds hammering through shutters, doors, and the thinner sections of duracrete around the enemy firing positions. Spent casings gathered near their boots, rolling through dust and broken glass whenever another concussion shook the building.

A heavier gun opened from the room behind them. The .50-caliber machine gun announced itself with a much deeper report. The gunner had planted the weapon across a broken section of wall, one soldier feeding the belt while another watched the street. Each burst hammered through the building and pushed dust from the surrounding masonry. Across the road, the rounds didn't stop neatly at the surface; they punched into the outer wall, breaking fist-sized pieces of concrete loose and tearing through thinner sections entirely. A House Guard rifleman who had been using the corner of the structure for cover disappeared deeper inside as the wall around him began coming apart.

Rounds tore through the upper wall and punched across the ceiling above them. Laphisto dropped behind the interior wall as fragments scattered across his armor. The soldiers beside the windows flattened themselves against the floor while the incoming burst walked across the wreckage and disappeared into the next room. When the weapon stopped, Laphisto was already moving toward the stairwell.

"Lower floor. Move." They descended through the building one group at a time. The stairwell had partially collapsed during the crash, forcing several soldiers to climb over broken steps and exposed reinforcement bars on the way down. The ground floor appeared to have been some kind of repair shop, its front windows shattered and its equipment scattered by the impact above. A civilian speeder engine sat beneath a torn tarp near the rear wall, while shelves of tools and parts had fallen into the middle of the room.

Laphisto crouched beside the front entrance and looked through a crack between the door and the frame. The street outside was empty. That meant very little. when enemies were hiding in the buildings. with a soft growl he held a hand up to his comms unit before speaking "Radio check." Static filled the channel before the first reply came back.

"Second Platoon, groundside. South of the square."

"Third Platoon is down west of the rally point."

"Fourth still moving. We've got people scattered."

Laphisto looked once toward the ceiling, where dust continued falling from the floor above. "First Platoon crashed short. Building's holding for now." There was a brief pause. as llaphisto looke dout into teh street, his rifle raised and restign against a broken piece of rubble that he was currently crouchign behind "You need assistance?" he shook his head softly before speakign to the man "Negative. Stay on mission."

He switched back to the platoon channel. turnign to look at the soldiers still climbing down from the second floor "Casualties."The medic answered from farther inside the shop. "Three injured. One bad leg, two impact injuries. Nobody dead." Laphisto nodded once, pulling hismelf to his feet and handing his rifle low in the ready position "Get the bad leg stabilized. He moves with us if he can stand."

A fresh burst struck the outside wall. The soldiers nearest the windows pulled back. Laphisto pointed toward the rear of the building. "Find another exit and light up that building dont give them an opertunity to look at us." One of the squad leaders disappeared through a back as teh heavy machine gun began to rip through the building that the fire came from again as the squad leader returned several seconds later. he spoke "Alley. Narrow, but clear."

"it will have to do. alright men lets move" The platoon filtered through the rear of the shop in small groups, rifles up as they entered the alley. Broken glass and fragments of masonry crunched beneath armored feet, joined by the occasional brass casing still caught in the folds of gear or armor from the fighting upstairs. The men carrying the heavier weapons moved slower through the confined space, the heavy machinegunner teams keeping their guns high enough to avoid catching barrels on the walls. Laphisto came through behind the last of the wounded, stopped long enough to look back toward the building, then turned away as another burst of enemy fire struck the wreck above them.

๖̶̶̶ۣۣۜۜ͜ζ͜͡The hard blockade over the planet of New Bornalex had come shortly after the arrival of a diplomatic envoy from the Farworlds Alliance, sent to formally welcome one of its newest member worlds and begin establishing the relationships that were meant to follow its accession.

For that reason, the Lord Protector of Centerra and Presiding Steward of the Farworlds Alliance, Matthew, had already been present groundside when the blockade was established.

Unlike the troubles they had faced on Veridia, where the Alliance's intervention against the government of Bái Sēn ( Voice of Caragach Voice of Caragach ) had drawn the attention and opposition of the Caragachi Commonwealth ( Voice of Caragach Voice of Caragach , FN-999 (restored) FN-999 (restored) ) and brought representatives of Vandemar ( Achilleon Utraen Achilleon Utraen ) to the same negotiating table, there was precious little ambiguity concerning the Alliance's place here. Those tensions had eventually led to the Greyman Accords , after arguments over sovereignty, intervention, and the limits of one power's authority against another.

It had only just taken its seat among them, and the Alliance would see that New Bornalex remained sovereign beneath its own laws and leadership while receiving every protection its membership had promised.

Protection was not meant to be ceremonial language set neatly beneath a signature, and the Alliance certainly would not be backing down simply because New Bornalex had only recently taken its seat among them.

Now, with a blockade drawn tight above the world and hostile forces pressing in below, someone had chosen to test whether the Alliance meant what it had sworn.

Matthew spared precious little time donning his armor and dispatching his charges upon dragonback with orders of their own. A'Runda A'Runda remained with him, however, seated upon Avalanche as the immense white draconis carried them high above the contested ground.

Rather than commit immediately to a descent, Matthew kept Avalanche circling overhead, searching for a useful vantage through the disorder below. From above, the of the battle could be read more clearly: where forces were massing, where defensive lines had been drawn, and, perhaps most importantly, where those defenses appeared weakest.

An orbital blockade was usually enough to cripple an assault, but sometimes small enough craft could slip through. Tibera was on such a vessel. It was one lucky enough to slip through the cracks the larger ships produced. That was only one part of the operation, the next part would be getting to the frontline without being filled full of holes. There was an easy enough way to accomplish that, just jump!

Tibera stood inside the belly of the transport ship, wind whipping around her as the ramp lowered. A moment of hesitation occurred, she contemplated the drop. Between the transport and the ground she'd be completely helpless, a sensation she dreaded.

With a run-up, the mercenary leapt out of the transport like a shot from a gun. There was no putting the cork back on the wine now. Focus was required, lest she end up decorating the countryside with fragments of her armor. Angling through the air, Tibera began her controlled fall. In he head she would count, knowing when to release for the HALO jump.

In one motion, the ripcord was pulled. A sudden jerk of the body followed, slowing the descent of the heavily armored merc. Her stomach hit her in the throat almost instantly.

Slowly, almost daintily, she lowered towards the planet's surface. Before she could even kiss the ground, her HUD was pinging threats around her. She sprinted to the first large piece of cover, drawing her handcannon from its holster. Soon enough that disruptor would get plenty of use, as the drop towards the ground stirred up a lot of attention. Before long there would be an enveloping of enemy troops.

This job wasn't just about fighting the enemies of the far worlds, it was about making noise. Drawing enemy units away from the main assault. If there was anything Tibera could do, it was cause trouble.

New Bormalex was a ways off from the rest of the Farworlds space. This situation, their late reaction to this situation was the precise reason he'd been making the case to the alor about a system that tied the data from the disparate reports, sensor stations and the like. By the time they'd got to know about the world, it was via Matthew of Valendale Matthew of Valendale and A'Runda A'Runda were already on world, negotiatin its accesion into the Far Worlds Alliance.

The only ships that could be spared to respond to this situation were the Morut itself and its escorts, the Gra'tua and the Verdyc. Nyles would have preferrred tring more ships to a situation he virtually had no intelligence on, but his job wasn't Admiral of his ideal fleet. So here they were. Then again, if he couldn't do this with three battlecruisers, perhaps he needed to keep alternative employment.

Reports indicated that these were Tapani sector ships. Or at least, they were transmitting Tapani sector transponder codes. The thought had crossed his mind that this could be a false flag. Why would the Tapani sector survivors show up here, let alone with what was left of their military forces after the Sith Covenant or whatever flavor of Dar'jetii it was that had rampaged across the sector. Nyles remembered escorting their convoys during their flight from the sector.

"Main battery charge at 75%, alor," came the report from Emri from beside him. "New missiles loaded, time to see if they work as well as we're hoping," she added. "We're ready as we'll ever be," said Emri, completing her report of the ship's systems. That was her job after all as his second in command in command, to effectively serve as the Alor'ad of the Morut.

"Dropping our of hyerspace, alor," came the response from Anni Kyrdol from the operations station. The pinprick light of the stars viewed through the alternate dimmension of hyperspace was replaced by view of the system. The tactical display began populating immediately. The hostile ships' transponder codes resolved immediatgely. Tapani sector ships. Nyles took a breath, by potentially engaging them he was undoing his own work. He just hoped they would see reason.

"Gett, put me through," ordered Nyles. The 'connection established' icon flashed into existence in the corner of his HUD, "Tapani sector fleet, this this is the SSV Eternal Haven on official Farworlds Alliance tasking. You are ordered to lift this blockade and cease all operations in this sector. This your final and only warning." "Gorse, give me some targeting solutions, let them know we're deadly shabla serious," he ordered the Morut's weapons officer.

"Elek, alor," came the brisk response from Gorse. Targeting solutions appeared on the tactical display as angry red lines connecting the icons of hte two fleets on the display.

"Let's hope they listen to reason," said Emri from beside him as she presided over their over the launch of their complement and the liasing with flight control.

"You think either of us would have a job if people did?" he asked without missing a beat. He didn't need to look at Emri's face to know that she agreed with that sentiment, the sublte shift in her body language told him enough after years of shared service to the company.

Caldris swirled the amber liquid in his crystal glass as he leaned back into the cushioned pillows of his custom recliner. It was absurd that the naval command of House Melantha had ever expected a man of his standing to sit in the rigid, unpadded steel chairs his officers called command seats. He was a member of a noble household, even while overseeing a blockade over an unassuming world like New Bornalex. Basic comforts were non-negotiable.

On the viewscreen beside him, the HMNV Resolute sat at the center of a carefully arranged defensive formation. Far below, House Guard forces were working through the trenches to assemble the jammer that would prevent the Farworlds Alliance from landing reinforcements. His father, Kyraan Spar Kyraan Spar , had entrusted him with holding the planet until it was operational.

Caldris ran a hand through his groomed beard as he slowly scanned the bridge. His officers looked nervous, but they were following protocol. They knew better than to slack off under his watch. Then the viewscreen suddenly flashed red, drawing his attention. "Report," Caldris ordered, barely lifting his head from the headrest.

"Lord Admiral, we're picking up three heavy signatures dropping out of hyperspace," the communications officer replied. "Transponder profiles match the Breshig War Forge's flagship and escorts." Caldris immediately sat upright, his fingers tightening around the crystal glass. Mandalorians.

He remembered how, when the Sith Covenant had swept through the Tapani Sector like a plague, much of the nobility had fallen to their knees and begged those armored mercenaries for protection as their worlds collapsed around them. They had traded their dignity for an iron-clad security detail.

Caldris said nothing at first. Instead, he gestured for the communications officer to put the transmission through, despite the man's hesitation. A moment later, Nyles Kote Nyles Kote appeared on the screen, identifying himself as commander of the SSV Eternal Haven and claiming to be acting under an official Alliance task force.

His message was simple, lift the blockade or face the consequences as Caldris watched the lead battlecruiser lock weapons onto his position before finally responding. "You bring three iron tubs into my sector and lecture me on authority?" he asked, his voice carrying more contempt than concern.

"Listen to me closely, mercenary. I do not take warnings, requests, or tactical advice from common plebeians who sell their blood by the hour, regardless of what painted metal you strap to your chest. House Melantha does not yield to hired help." Before Kote could finish his response, Caldris slammed his hand onto the communications kill-switch, cutting the transmission mid-sentence.

Whatever the Mandalorian had planned to say next was irrelevant. He rose from the recliner and placed his crystal glass on the side console with a deliberate clink. The arrogance that had carried him through the conversation vanished almost immediately, replaced by uncertainty as the reality of the situation settled in.

Jai was forced to divert her attention away from the rising machinery when the Force warned her that something was approaching. At first, she couldn't tell where it was coming from, but the interference in the air quickly shifted, signaling an unfamiliar presence. She scanned the sky around the force dome, expecting starfighters, only for her eyes to widen at the sight of a white creature circling overhead.

It appeared to be a dragon from the looks of it, having read about such creatures in obscure texts. She stepped toward the edge of the scaffolding, watching as the creature flew around the camp. The Farworlds Alliance had clearly found a way to control something capable of causing considerable destruction, but that would not save it from her sorcery.

Jai raised two fingers, signaling for her remaining aide to approach. "Transfer command of the House Guard to Viscount Skeen," she ordered, her voice slightly muffled behind the heavy cloth of her veil. "He can manage the trench line and keep the jammer safe from ground forces. I'll handle the distraction overhead." The aide offered no argument. He bowed and hurried back toward the command tent, leaving Jai alone beneath the damp air surrounding the tower.

She stepped into the shadow of a heavy supply crate and closed her eyes. Drawing on the dark side, Jai gathered the power of Sith sorcery around herself, weaving them into a veil of concealment. The air shimmered around her as light bent away from her body and the sounds of her movements faded until the muddy ground appeared completely empty.

Viscount Asarco Skeen
House Melantha Guard

Once command was transferred to him, Asarco glanced down at the holographic map of the battlefield. Captain Durene soon joined him, noticing the wide gaps along the force dome's perimeter. Before he could utter a word, The Viscount raised two fingers and pointed toward the distant town square. The scattering drop pods were landing nearly a kilometer apart, forcing the enemy under Laphisto Laphisto to regroup before they could make a proper push.

"They have given us the advantage, Dear Captain. Let's not squander it by making poor choices." He said as he dragged his finger across the display, pulling House Guard away from the outer perimeter and deeper inside the shield. He then tapped Durene's chest, pointed toward the tree line, and made a quick binocular gesture before signaling a retreat.

Durene understood at once, nodding before turning to send his scouts into position. With the perimeter cleared, Asarco began setting the trap. He moved a stack of empty ammo crates toward the northern approach, pulled two gun trucks back from their forward positions, and ordered the crews to lower their rifles and move around as if they had been caught unprepared.

A lone shadow passed through the clouds overhead as a dragon rider searched for an opening. Asarco ignored it and continued along the inner perimeter. Once back inside the dome, he directed the heavy cargo trucks to hide beneath netting and foliage before giving the crews a thumbs-up. The artillery followed, setting up well behind the central jammer tower and out of sight of the approaching enemy.

  • Scouts being positioned far forward in the tree line strictly to observe, delay, and report enemy LZs. They will fall back immediately when pressed rather than hold ground.
  • The Northern Perimeter is under-manned with visible, lazy patrols, broken-down equipment, and cleared-out gun pits to present an easy breach for aerial reconnaissance
  • The actual defense is pulled well inside the force dome. Infantry strongpoints and converted cargo gun trucks sit in deep ditches under heavy camouflage netting, holding fire and keeping targeting sensors cold to avoid detection.
  • Field artillery is positioned deep behind the central jammer tower not on the perimeter.

A’Runda was used to riding large reptilians. His own dewback steed gave him plenty of experience. But he was more used to mounts being more terrestrial in nature. He kept a firm grip on the saddle to keep his body steady against the movements of Avalanche whilst his mother held the shatter rifle previously gifted to him.

Bringing the lens of the weapon’s scope to his goggles, A'Runda tried his best to get more detailed visuals on key points of interest. Years of experience of mounted marksmanship helped him to overcome the fluid movements of the Dragon mount some. Although being in the air certainly had challenges that A’Runda was unfamiliar with.

“I imagine your steed doesn’t give off EM signatures that can be tracked with air defenses.” A’Runda called out to Matthew through the brisk air rushing past them. “I still hope you have some novel countermeasures though…” The Tusken wasn’t exactly keen on being blown out off the sky via a laser guided SAM.

“I imagine your steed doesn’t give off EM signatures that can be tracked with air defenses.” A’Runda called out to Matthew through the brisk air rushing past them. “I still hope you have some novel countermeasures though…”

Lander had found himself on one of the several dragons that were approaching the jammers. While A'Runda and Matthew were planning, the very normal former-soldier was holding on for dear life. This was not the sort of thing that the average Corellian got up to, and he sure as hell hadn't flown on the back of any giant beast. He did manage to steel himself and call across to the Tusken.

"Do they breath fire!?" he shouted over. "That sounds like a great countermeasure to me!"

Then there was a crack above that briefly drew his attention.

In one motion, the ripcord was pulled. A sudden jerk of the body followed, slowing the descent of the heavily armored merc. Her stomach hit her in the throat almost instantly.

Slowly, almost daintily, she lowered towards the planet's surface.

"Hell," Lander muttered.

Maybe riding a dragon wasn't that bad. He much rather that to jumping out of transports. Of course, he was really starting to recognize just how average he was compared to the people he had surrounded himself with. One would have thought fighting in a war with Mandalorians as your opposition would prepare you for such a thing.

But these people were something else. Something slightly insane.

"When can we land these things?!"

NobleStriking.png-fullview.jpg

"At least my blood and my word is actually worth something, Tapani," fired back Nyles over the comms, frowning under his buy'ce. What more should he have expected from an aruetii than to show a backward understanding of their way of life. In fact if now for the actions of him and his, all he would have had between him and his and the Dar'jetii would have been his airs of superiority. Not very jetii'kad resistant last he checked.

"Well, we tried," sighed Emri exasperatedly. The regret was still there, the regreat that he was about to in the very least significantly hamstring what he'd earlier tried to save. Well times changed, he knew that much from two decade and some change career in waging war. Circumstances changed, too, perhaps being driven into near destruction had made them desperate enough to attempt this. Part of him felt sorry for them, that part also remembered that they wished to reclaim some semblance of hope by dashing others' away. The eMandalorian part of him told him that if they were too weak to do so, then they didn't deserve to.

Anger tightened his muscles, forcing a breath to steady his breathing and to ease his surge of emotions. He was in the wrong career to not know how to deal with stress. No longer as tense as they were, his hands flew across the main tactical display's interface, ordering his corvettes into a close-in defensive formation. A tightly wound, overlapping net of point-defence. "Warm our EWAR suite, main battery charge?" he ordered and asked to ascertain what options were available to him. He gave the order for EWAR suites to go hot fleet wide, including on their escorts. The massive ammount of erronous data clusted so closely together would ideally overwhelm any garbage collection protocols the enemy ships' detection, targeting and tracking systems had.

Naturally, this wouldn't affect any optical means, but targeting and tracking via optics at any meaningfully long engagement range was not the easiest of prospects. "Ninety percent, alor, we should be able to fire soon. Missile locks are still hot," reported Emri, double checking the display at her station for confirmation.

"Load dust and mine laying shells into our tertiary accelerator cannon batteries, give me a full spread of baradium mines, everything you can bring to bear on target. Deploy the miners aherad of our formation," Nyles ordered while giving the same instructions to the other ships in th formation. Status indicators for the formation's guns changed as the autoloaders cycled as fast as they could, loading int the requested rounds. "Give me the following missile spread; micro jump, stealth and tandem charge cluster. Pick one of those star destroyer-class vessels," Nyles ordered.

The same order went out over the battlenet, prompting ever ship under his command to mirror these instructions. Each ship and their escorts and super-heavy bombers picked a separate target. The Mout launched two of each missile from its launchers, totallying 48 missiles in total. The Gra'tua and the Verdyc didn't have the Morut's deadly stealth missiles aboard. Mandalorian alor'ade had a greater degree of autonomy, both alor'ade decided Tra'ragir-HEKP missiles would take the place of the stealth missiles in their salvos.

"Done, alor," came the reply from Emri. "Anything else?" she asked as she punched the orders into her station. The bridge crew went about carrying out her orders silently in the background. When they didn't need to, the personal touch of addressing each bridge crew member individually was ignored in favor of issuing orders through the ship's systems interface.

"Jamming beams and every other secondary disruptor cannon, secondary Accelerator cannon and primary disruptor you can bring to bear. The longer we let this play out, the longer it will be till we can get our burc'yase on the ground some support. Where's my ba'vod when I need him?" he asked rhetorically as he punched in those very same orders in to the battlenet's interface.

Probably dealing with his own problems right now. In fact he was probably thinking the same thing about him. One thing was for sure, he'd much rather be dealing with his problems than his cousin's. That's why he was in the Navy and his cousin Ruus a Strill ground pounder.

"Elek, alor," came the response from Emri as she went about her orders. "Fire absolutely shabla everythiung we can, send 'em all to haran." She glanced at her display for a second and then half-shrugged, "Well, not absolutely shabla everything, but more or less," she said, making a seesaw motion with her hand before shrugging. "Any specific rounds, alor?" she asked a moment later.

"Let's bring down those shields, Ion energy torpedo sheathe, Ion detonator and Ion encumberance rounds," Nyles clarified, both verbally and over the battlenet interface. Angry refd lines replace the yellow lines on the display from earlier. These solutions are just awaiting the final order to fire. "Mando'ad, send them straight to haran. All callsigns, open fire," Nyles said over the comms before finally cutting his buy'ce's connection to the ship's comms. There was silence on the bridge for a moment as the guns turned in place and autolaoders below decks worked furiously to carry out their tasking. Then the all-too-familiar vibration of the deckplating beneath his boots.

Naval Action Summary

  • The corvettes maneuver into close-in defensive formation, two on the dorsal, ventral, port and starboard facing of the Morut. The same for the others, except for the ventral facing.
  • Baradium mines using mine laying shells are laid ahead of the Strill Securities formaration, forming a mine field between the Strill and Tapani fleets.
  • Dust rounds are fired from about 2/3rd of the ships' heavy accelerator cannons at the enemy fleet, evenly distributing outgoing fire betwen the ships.
  • The Morut fires a total of 48 missiles, split evenly between micro jump, stealth and tandem charge cluster at one of the Tapan Samenti-class Imperial Star Destroyers.
  • The Verdyc and the Gra'tua also fire at a Tapan Samenti-class Imperial Star Destroyers each as well, totalling 48 missiles as well, but replacing the stealth missiles with Tra'ragir-HEKP missiles.
  • About 2/3rd of all heavy and super-heavy disuptor cannons on all ships can be brought to bear on the same targets as the missiles. They fire.
  • About 2/3rd of super-heavy acclerator cannons on all ships can be brought to bear against the same targets as the missiles, they fire Ion energy energy torpedo sheated Ion detonator and Ion encumberance rounds.
  • About 2/3rd of the Jamming Beams on the ships can be brought to bear against the same targets as the missiles, they are 'fired'.

Caldris crossed his arms as the Mandalorian warships under Nyles Kote Nyles Kote began their assault, watching sensor data pour across the Resolute's main viewscreen. Moments later, hostile missile signatures appeared across the display. New Bornalex's interference disrupted some of their tracking, but their path became clear, they were headed directly for him.

He clenched his teeth before raising a hand. "Evasive action. Launch Nagnol Gas Torpedoes ahead of us and blind their sensors. It won't stop them all, but it'll buy us time." The order was followed immediately, green clouds spreading through the vacuum ahead of the Tapani formation as the fleet broke apart to prevent a single detonation from crippling multiple ships. Caldris stepped toward the side terminal, retrieved his crystal glass, and took a slow sip, using the burn of the liquor to keep himself focused on the battle rather than its possible outcome.

"Signal the Tapani frigates," he ordered, setting the glass down. "Form a capital-ship screen along the front." The older refitted hulls moved into position just as the point-defense grid opened fire. Laser and ion batteries tore into the densest missile clusters while heavy jamming filled the area with static. Manta fighters poured from the hangars, diving into the incoming wave to hunt down the sensor ghosts of stealth weapons and micro-jump ordnance.

They couldn't possibly stop them all as heavy warheads slammed into the forward screen, filling his view with violent explosions as the Resolute seemed to shake from the shear impact of the munitions. Caldris caught himself against a nearby seat before pointing toward the tactical display.

"Rotate the damaged hulls back. Cycle the fresh guns into the firing arc. Keep the pressure continuous." He lowered himself onto the edge of his lounger as emergency reports flooded the screen. Hull fires burned along the escort line, and two frigates were already suffering heavy shield losses.

"Jettison the waste chutes into open space," Caldris ordered. "Use the forward tractor beams to sling them into the minefield." The debris was dragged forward and hurled into the Mandalorian mine screen, intent on triggering a chain reaction of secondary detonations in order to make an opening for his next maneuver provided the Mandalorian could not respond in time.

"All Imperial Star Destroyers, ignore their heavy battlecruisers. Concentrate turbolasers and Kingstrike precision cannons on the deployed corvettes. Strip away their escorts first, and the field is ours." The Resolute's forward batteries answered, crimson plasma tearing through the lingering gas cloud as the fleet adopted the Targeted Barrage, each firing their extensive array of Dual 720HTL Heavy Turbolaser Emplacement and Kingstrike Precision Laser Cannons.

  • Detected incoming missile salvos and ordered the fleet into evasive action.
  • Launched Nagnol gas torpedoes to disrupt enemy targeting and buy time.
  • Broke the fleet formation apart to prevent multiple ships from being crippled by one strike.
  • Ordered the older Tapani frigates to form a capital-ship screen ahead of the main fleet.
  • Activated point-defense batteries, jamming systems, and Manta fighters against the incoming missiles.
  • Ordered waste and debris to be jettisoned and pulled into the Mandalorian minefield with tractor beams.
  • Ordered the Imperial Star Destroyers to ignore the Mandalorian battlecruisers and concentrate fire on their corvettes.

Inside the beast transport ship Novac was adjusting his armor, not really paying attention just tightening it in places, more or less just fidgeting with it. Novac had been with the Farworld Alliance for some time now, but today would mark the first day he fights for them, fights alongside them. There was the incident on Refuge but that was differen. This is going out to fight with them while refugee was protection.

To say Novac was nervous would be more then a understatement. He'd fought before, against a sith lord, various smaller fights while on random odd jobs he'd taken to get enough credits to keep his ship flying. There was only one other time where novac actively went into a fight prepared, that was back on dromund kaas. In truth this wasn't nearly as bad, back then he had all his droids and a good number of his animal companions going into a sith controlled city. Whereas here and now, it's just himself, kaito, and the giant black and purple dragon that was laying next to him, going into a government controlled area.

Not only was it technically less dangerous then the last time he willingly went into battle, but the Farworld was here with him. Still however, he was usually the one getting attacked first.

Before novac could go even deeper into thought he felt a familiar scaled nose press against him and let out a slow warm breath. Vanari always did try to comfort him when he was worried or deep in thought, though given her size the best she could do is just lightly nuzzle him, which did help since Novac found it adorable. As he reached both left hands up to scratch under her chin the ship rocked to the right, a small explosion ringing out along with it.

"Kairo you ok up there?" Novac quickly asked as he went to move to the cockpit. Novac was met halfway by Kairo "I'm fine. The ship however isn't. Direct hit to the left engines. You where planning on flying on her yes? I'd suggest we do so now."

With out another word Novac turned, and Vanari lowered herself to allow the snake to climb up. Weaving his tail through the loops of the custom saddle to hold himself on he grabbed the reins. Kairo on the other hand was already opening the bay door, once it started he grabbed his rotary blaster and sword, magnetically attaching both to his back before joining Novac on Vanari.

There wasn't much of a backend to the ship for them to be hit by once Valari stepped out. She dropped forward and down for a moment before suddenly unfurling her wings and flying forward. She spotted Matthew of Valendale Matthew of Valendale and make a small grunt, "Yea I see him too" Novac said with a nod.

As she flew towards Matther, Novac did his best to take note of everything happening on the ground, as did Kairo. When they got within earshot of Matthew, Novac called out "Master Matthew, good to see you up here. What's the situation so far?"

"Cheeky chaakre," breathed Nyles as he watched things unfold on the ship's main tacticasl display, with clips of video footage embeeded contextually among the holographic display. "Mirdala, too bad it won't work," he breathed to himself thinking out loud, looking at the ships on his tactical display, signatures very much being broadcasted live by the dust from the dust rounds.

The unfortunate part of dealing with the missile barrage from the Strill warships was the fact that they came witgh a nasty trick up their sleeve; home on jam protocols. The missiles switched targets, instead now homing in on the targets that were emitting tghe strongest jamming signal. Turning off the jamming was not an ideal strategy either, as the missile's near sentient guidance system would stil lbe able to recognize the target conventionally.

The Abiir micro jump AP seismic missiles were largely unaffected by the incoming fire. Fortunately the cluster missiles and the Tra'ragir Assault missiles had taken most of the incoming fire, soaking up far more ion cannon fire than they should have been able to before finally shutting down. Nyles reacted to the fighters taking off with a scowl followed by a sigh. It was time to give thems something else to think about.

Nyles' hands flew over the interface, ordering the formation's fighters to launch their BVR missiles at the Manda fighters that had now exposed themselves to incoming fire. The entire tactical display lit up with targeting locks from the squadrons his formation had deployed. At some point, the display stopped trying to keep up with the individual locks, showing them as squadrons having locked onto enemy squadrons.

A small numerical icon appeared next to the deployed squadrons on the display;192. The system quickly did the math for him; 192 fighters firing a pair of missiles from their three launchers was a staggering 1152 missiles. The system's projection was that while a portion of the mixed salvo of four Tra'beviin-B-class Brilliant Missiles and two Tbarsr-BT-class Guided Baradium Cluster Missiles fired by each Kyr'galaar and Gar Oya'karur fighters would be shot down by majority of the salvo would likely find their mark.

Nyles wasn't done yet, not by a long shot. He ordered the deployment of D/EWP-01 'Jahaatir' Decoy/Electronic Warfare Probes. Four from the Morut, two each from the other two the Gra'tua and the Verdyc. The probes adjusted their disguise systems to match the Jai'galaar strike fighter and moved up toward the Tapani formation along with the missile strike, providing the missiles themselves additional electronic warfare protection.

A few of the mines detonated as debris struck them hard enough for the volatile baradium to be set off, but their smart deployment systems kept them from being in range of sympathetically detonating one another. The mine's networked, fused detection, targeting and tracking system kept the refuse being hurled in their direction from being recognized as valid targets.

The corvettes carried out companyt naval doctrine to the letter. A large amoung of the incoming fire was rendered into near misses with the saturation of electronic warfare in the area and directed at the enemy. The corvettes performed rapid maneivers, sudden shifts from side to side thanks to their emergency maneuvering systems while launching countermeasure gas rockets that the display on the bridge of the Morut tracked with ease thanks to the sheet amount of filtered, fused, networked data, not to mention the ship's own powerful sensors.

The remaining fire smacked into the corvettes' shields and though the molecular shields did a fantastic job of staying active, it came at the steep price of overall shield strength. Nyles didn't intend to give them another chance to bring down the shields on his defensive corvette screen. "Emri, gun charge status?" he asked, glancing at the charge status indicators for the other ships in the formation.

"Main batteies at a 100% charge, alor," she reported. "I set one sheathe and sabots, are we changing firing pattern?" she asked, mostly rhetorically, but likely to confirm. She'd worked with him long enough to understand his strategy and even if she hadn't, that was preciely the same solution he'd ordered earlier and no battlefield variable had changed enough to prompt a change in firing solution.

"Music to my ears," replied Nyles. "Keep the same firing pattern." He gave the order over the battlenet for the Morut, Gra'tua and Verdyc to pick a frigate and engage with the main guns and divert the rest of their fire on a frigate each. Covered by dust as they were, the Nagnol gas did nothing to make them harder to target.

Nyles gave orders for the rest of the formation to pick frigate targets and open fire. If he could deplete the screen, he could get to the more vulnerable capital ships in the backline. In that spirit, he gave the order to repeat the last missile salvo. Rather than just the Morut, Gra'tua and Verdyc he gave trhe order formation wide. Emri certainly wouldn't mind if he skilpped the personal touch of issuing the order himself, the old fashioned way.

The bridge lighting dimmed and the deckplating thrummed under his boots as the ship's spinal ultra-heavy acceleration cannons discharged along with the rest of the ship's weapons. The lightshow out of the main bridge viewporet, dimmed as it was, was nothing short of staggering. That was when the next stage of his plan began, to coincide with firing solution just exectued, he hit the activation controls on the tactical interface for the ion encumberance tags they had previously fired, activating their ionization effect. If all went according to plan, this would severly weaken the enemy's shields against this barrage and salvo.

Naval Action Summary

  • The Morut fires a total of 48 missiles, split evenly between micro jump, stealth and tandem charge cluster at different Frigates that their main battery UACs are targetting.
  • The Verdyc and the Gra'tua also fire at a different Frigate than the one their main battery UACs are targetting, totalling 48 missiles as well, but replacing the stealth missiles with Tra'ragir-HEKP missiles.
  • The corvettes fire 8 missiles, split evenly between Tra'ragir-HEKP and tandem charge cluster at different Frigates, each squadron and grouping targeting a seperate frigate each. This means three frigates face 64, 48 and 48 missiles each, respectively.
  • The bombers fire 32 missiles, split evenly between Tra'ragir-HEKP and tandem charge cluster at different Frigates, each squadron and grouping targeting a seperate frigate each. This means three frigates face 128, 128 and 128 missiles each, respectively.
  • The bombers, all 96 of thjem fire APFSDS roudns from their Dual RSM-01 Repeating Super-Heavy Mass-drivers at the same frigates they fired their missiles at.
  • The four ultra-heavy acclerator cannons on the Morut and the three on the Gra'tua and the Verdyc fire Ion energy energy torpedo sheated APFSDS rounds at three seperate Frigates.
  • About 2/3rd of all heavy and super-heavy disuptor cannons on all ships can be brought to bear on the same targets as the missiles. They fire.
  • About 2/3rd of all heavy and super-heavy acclerator cannons on all ships can be brought to bear against the same targets as the missiles, they fire Ion energy energy torpedo sheated Ion detonator and Ion encumberance rounds.
  • About 2/3rd of the Jamming Beams on the ships can be brought to bear against the same targets as the missiles, they are 'fired'.

The Mandalorians had identified his frigates as the weakest point in his formation, and they were moving to exploit it. He set the glass aside as another impact slammed into the flagship, eyes tracking the tactical display to the right of him. "Get the frigates out of the direct line of fire," Caldris said to the officers on the bridge, as they scurried back and forth to assess the damage.

"Don't send them toward the carriers. I won't have their captains dragging every missile in the sector toward our hangars." The frigates broke formation, but the Mandalorian heavy battlecruisers were already tracking them, each capital ship focusing its main batteries on a single target. The Bulwark and Rampart were destroyed almost immediately, their shields collapsing beneath concentrated fire as their burning wreckage drifted through space.

The surviving frigates dumped debris behind them as they retreated, hoping to obscure their escape. "Plug the gaps with the Tarquins." The Vanguard, Sovereign, and Dauntless moved into position, angling their reinforced shields toward the Mandalorian line while their point-defense guns filled the void of space with fire.

The Samentis remained farther back, keeping enough distance to avoid losing both command ships to a single salvo. Caldris ignored the lingering green mist from the Nagnol torpedoes as the Mandalorians were able to fire through it without much difficulty. "Cancel the remaining gas torpedoes," he ordered.

"They're useless here. Clear the launchers." His attention shifted to the EWAR display. The incoming missiles were homing toward the fleet's strongest jamming signals. The Mandalorians had expected standard anti-missile tactics and were using those high-emission signals as beacons while their own electronic warfare scrambled the fleet's targeting systems.

"Flatten the jamming signal across the entire formation. Force the missiles to spread across individual targets instead of concentrating on one ship. Then clear our EWAR suites and scrub the targeting streams." The order was carried out immediately. The fleet's jamming remained active but became uniform, forcing the incoming salvo to scatter across multiple ships rather than converge on a single target.

Farther out, the Mantas were already retreating. They had run into a wall of short-range Mandalorian fighter-missiles, breaking their formation into small groups racing back toward the Star Destroyers at full burn. "Bring them straight through the screen. Full speed. Let point defense deal with anything following them."

The first Mantas crossed the defensive line. Frigate guns opened first, followed by the Tarquins and Samentis, filling the space behind them with green laser fire and exploding warheads. "Send Iron-A above us, as high as they can get within the planet's gravity well. Passive sensors only. I want them acting as our targeting system. Once they transmit coordinates, fire everything."

The squadron broke away and climbed, staying close enough to the capital ships that anything pursuing them would be forced through the fleet's kill zone. Caldris glanced toward the tactical display just as bomber groups appeared on the edge of the formation, though Mandalorian interference made it difficult to separate genuine contacts from false ones.

"Command, this is Captain Lone from Iron-A Squadron," a voice reported on the other end of the line. "Massive weapon discharge from the Breshig ships. They're coming in fast and targeting the frigate line!" The Tower, the third frigate targeted, took the full salvo. Its shields collapsed under the barrage, exposing the hull to a torrent of destructive energy and promptly imploded.

"I think we've given these sellswords enough time to deploy their gimmicks. Divert reactor power from the Star Destroyers to the launchers. Begin firing Energy Torpedo Modification barrages at the Morut, Gra'tua, and Verdyc. Use Iron-A's targeting data." The order was relayed immediately. With seven Star Destroyers and ten launchers aboard each, the fleet was about to deliver a devastating barrage.

  • Withdraws the frigates from the direct line of fire while keeping them away from the carriers; Bulwark and Rampart are destroyed during the retreat.
  • Moves Vanguard, Sovereign, and Dauntless forward to replace the lost screen, with the Samentis and carriers held back in separate protected positions.
  • Stops loading Naghal gas torpedoes because the enemy can track through the gas, and reduces/harmonizes fleet jamming so home-on-jam missiles have no single strong target.
  • Orders the Mantas to retreat at full speed through the fleet's point-defense screen, drawing pursuing missiles and fighters into frigate, Tarquin, and Samenti defensive fire.
  • Deploys Iron-A Squadron above the fleet on passive sensors to identify real targets through the Dust and EW clutter and transmit targeting coordinates.
  • After Sovereign is destroyed by the Mandalorian main battery, diverts reactor power to the remaining ISDs' launchers and fires an energy-torpedo counter-barrage at the Morut, Gra'tua, and Verdyc.

Tibera's body was jarred as her feet skidded along the ground. It was always exhilarating to do a live combat drop. Something about the fact she could get greased any second, and that her life was held by very literal strings, it made her feel alive! There was no rush quite like it, not drink or chems. It was an irreplaceable feeling that left Tibera with goosebumps.

There was little time to enjoy the adrenaline rush however, what with the whole war going on and all! She dug in behind cover and pressed two fingers to the side of her helmet. Her connection was established to the force leader on the back of his dragon.

"Sergeant Jessen to Commander Matthew! Made landfall near the first objective. Looking to head into the dome and cause some trouble!" Before the mission Tibera had been warned of the dangers, her plan of assaulting the dome head on was ill-advised to say the least. Yet still she insisted on pressing the attack. "It's what mercs are for," she had stressed, an acknowledgement of her own status.

In her mind it was better she do the head on fighting than some of the more valuable Far Worlds members. After all, mercenaries were on first name basis with death. A sad, but easily brushed off, fact of the job.

Tibera settled in with some troops, using her HUD to track and scan targets. It was just too bad she couldn't really make out too much from this distance. Her nearsightedness was kicking in at this range, meaning she had to make a run for the dome sooner or later. She'd wait for the command from Matthew, who was still overhead with his dragon.

Man, why didn't she have a dragon?
