SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Integrated Gyro-Gimbal
  • Three Fire Modes: The rifle possesses a semi-automatic, two-round burst and fully automatic fire modes.
  • Integrated Targeting Computer with HUD Linking Capability: The weapon features onboard targeting computer which has the ability to interface with HUD systems and provide provide compensation for various atmospheric conditions, and uses the HUD's binocular mode (if it has one, and is limited based on the weapon's own range when used in this mode) as a magnified optic. Heavy amounts of jamming doesn't affect this feature given proximity between the weapon and the user.
  • Variety of Ammunition: Breshig War Forge Consolidated produces a variety of ammunition for the weapon:
    • AP: Armor-piercing rounds with a depleted baradium core designed to act as a penetrator upon impact with armor.
    • HE: Deuterium detonator rounds designed to explode on contact with a hard surface.
    • Bronzium Full Metal Jacket Rounds: Bronzium jacketed rounds, standard ammunition for the weapon.
    • Electro-stun Round: Similar to electro-stun grenades but on a smaller scale, the electro-stun rounds are capable of immobilizing most humanoid targets with three or so impacts, whereupon they release an electric charge, though decidedly stubborn targets might require more rounds. These rounds are also not very effective against hard armored targets.
    • EMP: Micro-EMP rounds, unlikely to permanently damage a droid or armor systems, but capable of causing a momentary sensor lag or targeting system delay against unshielded systems. More of a distraction than anything else, though the best warriors know that even a second's worth of time on your enemy is well worth it.
STRENGTHS
  • Ignores Energy Shielding: While particle shielding will still stop a ripper round, energy shielding will strip the energy coating of a ripper round but allow the projectile to pass through.
  • Improved Penetration: Ripper rounds superheat the site of impact, allowing for improved penetration of armor.
  • Large Caliber, High Velocity and Energy Coated: There's nothing subtle about the energy coated 12.7x55mm rounds the ripper sends downrange at high velocities. If it penetrates armor or strikes an unarmored targets, it is very likely to do significant damage.
  • Versatile Ammunition: The weapon has a variety of rounds that it can fire, enabling it to engage a variety of different targets.
WEAKNESSES
  • Heavy Ammunition: The ammunition for the rifle isn't exactly light either, making carrying large quantities of ammunition difficult, and after a certain point, nigh on impossible.
  • Small Ammunition Capacity: Equivalent high end heavy blaster rifles have a far higher capacity and can pack as much if not more of a punch than this weapon.
  • Higher Degree of Competency Required: The Ripper is not a weapon for those who don't have a reasonable competency in marksmanship.
  • Two Consumables: Rippers require both gas as propellant and magazines to hold the solid slug ammunition.
DESCRIPTION
The RR-04B is a refresh of Breshig Arms RR-04 ripper rifle, only Breshig War Forge Consolidated released this version after listening to customer feedback on the RR-04. With the chief complaint being a weapon that was far too unwieldy in close quarters, the company remedied this by designing a bullpup ripper rifle. Given that it had more or less the same internal parts as the RR-04, the new rifle was designated the RR-04B. The RR-04B was very popular with Strill Securities, who requested a large order for their own use.

One of the major advantages of the ripper over other weapons is that it has the ability to bypass energy shielding, which will simply strip the energy coating of a round fired but allow the projectile to pass through. Particle shielding or combination units however will still stop the round dead in its tracks. The energy coating of a ripper enables it to better penetrate armor, superheating the site of impact and potentially weakening the armor for the round that follows.

Of course, like many things Mandalorian, the ripper is all but subtle. The energy coated rounds carry high mass, and travel at great velocities, giving them considerable damage potential. For those who use the weapon however, appreciate that it's lack of subtlety is more than made up by its stopping power and versatility. Additionally, given that slugthrowers can't be blocked by lightsabers, those hunting force sensitive targets often prefer the ripper over a standard slugthrower, as it offers the best of both worlds to a large degree, save for ammunition capacity.

A lightweight Duranium frame and a Dallorian alloy barrel increase the weapon's service life by being durable and mitigating any potential overheating issues. The weapon features an gyro-gimbal to assist with with balance, sighting, and recovering from recoil. This feature is particularly useful when using the weapon's full auto setting. Like the RP-05A, the RR-04B also features an integrated targeting computer and also has specialist rounds that can be purchased separately for the weapon.

The downside to using a ripper is that unlike a blaster or a verpine shatter weapon, one needs to be a capable marksman. Merely firing in the general direction of the enemy will not be very effective, and will deplete the limited magazine quickly. Additionally, ammunition is heavier than most blaster power packs and carry less rounds. This is not to mention the Ripper's requirement for both gas and solid slug ammunition to function. Despite this the Ripper is a powerful and versatile weapon, and favored by those who use it for its ease of modification, versatility and stopping power.
