Armament

The following are loadouts typically utilized by craft in company service. Ordnance count is for all applicable launchers on board. Only ammunition type is listed, not count.

Defenses

Maneuverability Rating

  • High.
    • S-Foils:
      • Folded: Allows the craft to reach higher velocities but negatively affects its maneuverability.
      • Open: Grants the craft better maneuverability but prevents the fighter from attaining the upper edge of its rate of acceleration.
    • 'Redalur' Maneuvering Thruster Array and Inertial Compensator System
      • Half Power: Redirects half power from the engines to the maneuvering system from main drives.
      • Full Power: Fully redirects power to the maneuvering system from the main drives, leaving bare-minimum power for the main drives.

Speed Rating

  • High.
    • 'Haal'miit' Ion-Atmospheric Hybrid Drive:
      • SLAM: Greatly increases engine output but using power from maneuvering systems rather than from weapons, lowering maneuvering system output.
    • With 'Caritr' Shield Generator on 'Fortress' mode: When the shield is set to 'Fortress' mode all power from engines is redirected toward shields, shutting off the main drives.

STRENGTHS

  • Heavy and Versatile Armament: With four repeating heavy mass-driver cannons, three MMOL-2 launchers and two modular heavy weapons mounts, the Kyr'galaar has a considerable amount of firepower that it can bring to bear against hostiles. All of the fighter's weapons are capable of carrying a wide variety of ordnance, giving it the ability to effectively counter a number of threats.
  • Resilient: A strong hull, powerful shields and a wide variety of conventional and electronic countermeasures ensure that the fighter is well protected against threats that it might face.
  • Fast: With powerful engines, the Kyr'galaar is able to 'boom and zoom' larger and/or slower targets and allows it to keep up with most hostile fighter craft that it might encounter. If faced with a fight it can't win, a Kyr'galaar could potentially put its speed to use in effecting its escape.
  • Advanced Detection, Targeting and Tracking and Comms Suite: The Kyr'galaar has an advanced and long range comms and detection, targeting and tracking and comms suite.
  • Stealthy: The electronic warfare suite of the fighter and its low-profile engines combined with the reflec coated stygian-tripsmatic polymer based compsite armor plating ensures that the fighter has a very low sensor profile at medium and long ranges.
  • Manda' Tactical Battlenet: The Kyr'galaar benefits from having the fighter based version of the 'Manda' tactical battlenet, allowing it to benefit from networked detection, targeting and tracking data. Additionally, the crew can benefit from the system's predictive analytics, noise filtering and numerous other features.

WEAKNESSES

  • Large: The Gar Oya'karur is a large fighter, making it easier to acquire and engage for enemy craft than a smaller fighter.
  • Boom: The Gar Oya'karur carries a lot of ordnance, if a shot penetrates the fighter's armor and reaches the ordnance storage with enough energy left to detonate something, then it's very likely that the fighter will be destroyed entirely in the ensuing detonation of that piece ordnance and the following sympathetic detonation of the remaining ordnance.
  • Not True Stealth: The fighter's stealth suite isn't 'true' stealth given that the fighter can be picked up by visual means as well as gravity and magnetic sensors at closer ranges.
  • Ammunition: The effectiveness greatly drops off once the fighter runs out of ammunition.
  • EMP/Ion: Should any EMP/Ion damage manage to get through the fighter's defenses then there's a high chance that many of the fighter's sensitive electronics would become rendered useless, rendering it blind, defenseless or even completely unarmed.

DESCRIPTION

The SMDF-01 Gar Oya'karur-class Stealth Multi-role Droid Fighter or the Iron Hunter when translated from Breshig's native Mando'a dialect is a new model of the SMFD-02 Gar Oya'karir-class Stealth Multi-role Droid Starfighter with significantly updated capabilities. These new is designed to leverage the combat performance of the older model while augmenting with a number of new systems. The new craft takes advantage of advances in a number of different areas. Prominently, new advances in everything from ammunition and ordnance to new systems architecture and software.

The new fighter a is governed by a new heuristically learning droid brain and memory module, eschewing the older fighter's Manda interpreting droid brain in favor of a full heuristically learning droid brain. The fighter's comprehensive programming combined with its heuristic learning capabilities enables the fighter to combine its battlefield experience with its programming to greatly enhance its capabilities.

The fighter takes advantages of the company's new mass-driver ammunition and new missiles in loadouts when in service with company forces. This, along with a completely overhauled detection, targeting and tracking suite has significantly increased the lethality of the fighter. These advancements have greatly increased its precision and capabilities, allowing it to truly exce as a multi-role fighter.

The new comms and battlenet systems allow the pilot unparalleled levels of battlefield coordination and cooperation over the previous model, with the latter's distributed computing and networked detection, targeting and tracking coming in key against the multitude of systems designed to jam or otherwise impeded detection, targeting and tracking. The system's predictive analytics have saved many a pilot more times than they can count.

The company has significantly updated the fighter's frame, switching to Verpine Ultramesh for both the base and export models. This has resulted in significant weight savings allowing for increased maneuverability without scarifying resilience. The frame now includes means to keep the fighter safe against threats not just on the battlefield, but also off, such as adverse conditions. Additionally, the fighter's updated shields, electronic warfare and countermeasure suite ensure that it almost never has to rely on its tough armor to keep it in the fight. The new fighter also features improved damage control systems to keep it in the fight.

Though the fighter doesn't have any need for crew, a cockpit with ejector seat and security systems were included to facilitate maintenance of the fighter. The new control interface was also included. In essence the fighter's maintenance cockpit was built to mirror that of the company's other production fighter models to prevent personnel from having to relearn control schemes, giving them full neural interface control of the craft if required. In such a case, the droid brain can be shut off or switched to co-pilot/gunner/systems operator mode.

The fighter however has been unable to outrun its few flaws, however. Being a larger fighter, it is far easier to acquire and engage for enemy craft and defenses than a smaller fighter. Additionally, given the amount of ordnance aboard, a penetrating shot has a high likelihood to set off stored ordnance. When out of its stores of ammunition and ordnance, the fighter's effectiveness greatly drops off. The fighter's advanced anti-detection systems are not true stealth and especially at closer ranges gravity and magnetic sensors would be able to easily detect, track and target the fighter. Lifeform scannersand force-based detection are sure to detect, track and target the fighter with ease as well. Finally, should any EMP/Ion damage manage to get through the fighter's defenses then there's a high chance that many of the fighter's sensitive electronics would become rendered useless, rendering it blind, defenseless or even completely unarmed.
