  • Accessibility: The retreat's primary characteristic is its extreme seclusion, strategically nestled high in a rugged mountain pass. While theoretically open to visitors, its physical location is designed for isolation. The complex is almost entirely surrounded by the wide, swift-flowing mountain river, creating a natural moat on approximately 3.5 sides. The natural hot springs, which forms the foundation of the complex, continually feed their heated overflow directly into the rushing river waters below. This positioning snaking along the river's edge gives it a highly defensible, semi-isolated posture. Access is strictly controlled and limited to a single, heavily fortified bridge that spans the water, connecting the complex to the outside world.
  • Description: Secluded deep within a snow-covered mountain range, this complex, known as 'The Iris Empress' serves as a private getaway for the Sawa and her Onna, offering an isolated and concealed sanctuary. The original structure, once simple wood, has been entirely rebuilt into a magnificent, fortified retreat using heavy kazue stone and sleek jade steel framing, accented with traditional jade wooden plates. The hot springs themselves are the heart of the location, fed by natural geothermal heat and channeled into simple, irregular pools that have been expertly carved directly into the bedrock. These pools are shaded by elegant awnings, allowing the Imperial family to enjoy the steamy, mineral-rich water beneath the crisp mountain air. Adjacent to the springs is the multi-level teahouse, designed for both luxury and security. Its unique layout features a sunken central drinking area surrounded by a higher perimeter level, allowing personal guards to be discreetly positioned and maintain surveillance without intruding on the Imperial couple's privacy. Scattered windows and small designated storage areas emphasize the retreat's practical function as a self-contained, high-security haven.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Teahouse Oversight Level: This level serves a dual purpose: it offers the best panoramic view of the river valley and the main springs, and acts as the concealed security hub. The wooden screen walls are slightly opaque and can be opened on silent, magnetic runners, allowing the Onna personal guard to monitor the central area below and surrounding grounds without being visible to guests or dignitaries. It features subtle technological enhancements, including reinforced walls and discrete communications terminals for quick reaction teams, emphasizing the high-security nature of the Imperial retreat.
  • Sawa's Grotto: The Secret Springs: This is the private, dedicated retreat for the owner, Sawa. The path leads to a natural, hidden rock grotto where the purest, hottest spring water pools. The space is small, naturally lit by a fissure in the rock ceiling, and features a single, perfectly smooth, deep pool. Unlike the publicly available pools which are carved and modernized, this one is left in its almost entirely natural state, feeling ancient and primal. It is marked by a single, small, glowing jade lantern near the entrance, serving as Sawa's personal indicator of whether the grotto is occupied or available.
  • The Grand Bridge Access Point: This is not just a bridge, but the complex's primary defensive structure. The bridge itself is built from reinforced metal and kazue stone, equipped with deployable droids and concealed defense turrets. The access point on the retreat side is fronted by a large, imposing gatehouse constructed with the same modernized stone and metal framing as the main buildings. Entering this point feels like passing through a gauntlet, visually reinforcing the fact that this is an Imperial residence where security is paramount, and every visitor must be meticulously screened before setting foot on the retreat grounds.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Legendary but not exactly something that is able to be proven. The oldest stories of the house int he mountains that was built near hot springs and along the rush rivers coming out fo the polar regions. The partially iced over river that snakes around the mountain and through it cutting between the mountains and deeper down into underground rivers and streams. The first structure was simple a spa for a retreat.

The legends speak and what is told to add to it. That the Iris Empress and her consort. Something she was known for, a new one every night until she had found one who entertained her with tales for years giving her several children. She was so moved by the beauty of the hotsprings that she commissioned a tea house be built for herself and her family to go to in the summer when the heat was sweltering.

The tea house itself was built up and along the sections of the river where they could small rooms were made for guards and storage. Grounds and biodomes they have to grow and create a special brand of tea for the royal houses of Atrisia. The hot springs itself had been controlled and worked on, going into some parts of the mountains for more private ones that had been worked on. Expanded and made exclusive.

The name the Iris Empress was added later, changed to go with the story that was being told about the place. No one was exactly certain if this was really so famous. More it could have just been named with a story by someone a few thousand years later who could not protest. Her family not really caring about having a place that wanted to honor them. It added to the mystique of the region and could bring in people who spent credits which were collected as taxes.

The hot springs and tea house were eventually combined into a combined business and location. Being owned and operated by a holding company that was controlled secretly by Sawa after she assumed a new identity from her past. Midori was someone she knew with [member="Nine Lives"] from school. So it provided a source of income across the planet for Sawa that would be built to fund her reconstruction efforts on Atrisia.

The years on Atrisia have seen a large contingent of improvements and the Iris Empress like many Atrisian structures has gotten a lassive overhaul and remodel. With newer stone work, paneling of wood and glass, connection tot he smart roads and deployment systems, shielding as well as improving many of he aspects of droids aroudn them. High in the Nhai mountains as they are it allowed Sawa to have a great deal of freedom in applying it to the teahouse. The mountains rebuilding and upgrading into a massive defensive area came to them.

edited but Midori is a name Sawa has used when introducing herself to people not her apprentices or family on Atrisia and uses for the most recent inheritor of the properties. So I just linked her bio twice
