- Fully Automated: As expected from an N&Z ship, it comes decked out with its own AI in order to remove the majority of menial tasks from the hands of the pilots , and usually can also take over the firing duties as well. Coupled with the ship's sensory array and connection to the datalink and hololink networks, the ship has automated distress call feautures which activate when the AI is forcefully rebooted or shut down without the proper procedure, thus indicating something being amiss.
- insane defensive capacity: The combination of cloaking capacity, sensor scrambling, a whole array of sensors to actually detect most visible and even invisible objects within the vessels vicinity, and top notch defensive systems in the form of the SIXTUS/B shielding package, energy and heat sinks all adds for a ship which can take a beating from ships way outside of its own weightclass as well as having the survivability to get through extremely hostile territory and conditions that would have other ships in its class succumb and crumble.
- Excellent atmospheric capacity: Having both access in space and a hyperdrive means that this ship outclasses most other troop transport vessels and limited range gun ships.
- Fully automated: As with the majority of N&Z ships, this ship has the automation both as a boon and a bane, for when the system works, it is an absolute godsent, but when it fails and the crew is shorthanded to handle the menial, but crucial tasks on the ship it could become a problem, especially when there is no experienced engineer or mechanic on board to keep an eye on the engines and reactor without the AI system keeping it all in check.
- Outboard engine vents: The engines exhaust vents and cooling vents are located at the rear and are only minimally shielded by plating, meaning that with the external shields down, these can be a prime target to cripple this ship.

To fulfill the demands of the Chief Scientist of the Diarchy's Science Division, the N&Z was tasked to design a ship that could fulfil all of the woman's criteria and as such they took the already in production Khopesh class as basis, though enlarged the bulkhead and widened the frame to allow for a much larger interior space which would allow for the placement of an on-board laboratory, additional crew quarters and a mess hall, while also improving the useful size of the hangar bay, allowing for either a small squadron of starfighters or a support vessel to be brought along with the now much larger, but also more usable vessel.
In terms of weaponry, the designers added the LC-2A laser canons to the bulkhead and two separate gyroscopic turrets near the stabilizer wings, while the ARD monotype point defense system would add additional FLAK turrets to the wings and hull to be used as protection. The presence of the RTL-1 rocket launchers would also allow for diversion strikes and a higher rate of offensive power when it would be necessary, but in the end the offensive capacity of the ship was not the primary concern, on the other hand the defensive capacity was. Decked out with the SIXTUS/B shield pack, the bloodhound MTS sensor, stygium crystals and sensor scramblers coupled to a whole array of targeting sensors, and not one, but two sensory array packages would allow for this vessel to be both as defensively capable in terms of taking hits, as well as in terms of being able to avoid confrontation and detection alltogether if necessary.
To top it all off, the Solar Spectrum MkII would be able to boast a more than adequate standard speed and high maneuvrability which could be adjusted and boosted by the use of the SLAB or AIMS systems to truly be as versatile as can be in practically any situation.
