SPECIAL FEATURES
A shield enhancer that focuses on larger forces

Strengths:
· Hardens shields against heavy assault
· Used in conjunction with shield systems (starships, but can be modified for other generators)
Weaknesses:
· Effective against a limited number of point sources
· Ineffective against unsustained fire
· Ineffective against scattered fire
· Not activated against standard laser fire (needs to be high velocity or high impact shots (I.E. turbo lasers))

DESCRIPTION
The SE-151 Shield Force Multiplier is the next stage in shield technology offered by Starchaser Enterprises. Able to be added to standard bombers and above, the SE-151 is shield technology that focuses on overwhelming force. Using standard shield manipulation technology, the system for the SE-151 focuses around monitoring shield stresses and focusing the shield strength at the point source. This results in a shield that enhances its strength where force is applied. Working well with Mon Calamari redundant shield technology, the Force Multiplier gains strength the more force is applied. This, however, is only true when larger amounts of force are used. If a ship is being fired upon from multiple directions, the system is not able to respond to more than a few major point sources depending on size (Star Destroyers can handle 3 point sources), including proton cannon blasts, sustained fire from heavy turbolaser batteries, and high amounts of warheads, before becoming overwhelmed. Additionally, small weapons fire, will not activate the Force Multiplier system.

The basics of the operation of this shield are as follows. If a location on the ship is being hit by a large enough weapon/force to activate the shield, the system will focus the recharge and coherence to this area, resulting in a stronger shield, while weakening the recharge and coherence of the ship elsewhere. In Chaos mechanics, this would temporarily bring the shield up one rating at the source of heavy damage, and down one rating throughout the rest of the shields.

So does this shield get more powerful the more powerful the attack striking the shield is, or does it just focus all of its protective capacity to those specific attacks?
