Csilla changed everything. With the Chiss homeworld destroyed at the hands of the Brotherhood of the Maw, the Chiss Diaspora crisis has spread across the surrounding systems. Due to its proximity, the New Imperial Order has begun to take a brunt of the burden. With the influx of refugees from Csilla led by the Ascendant remnant leader now defecting to the New Imperial Order, Mithrad bringing his host to New Imperial space, the Sovereign Imperator has authorized a military operation deeper into Chiss space to secure these now disorganized remnants and scattered Chiss colonies.

Their response came initially in answering a distress call from a planet just beyond the edge of New Imperial space, Sharb.

Near to Csilla, Sharb was one of the more populous Chiss colonies, the several ruling houses of the planet living with relative ease beneath the reign of the several Galactic and regional powers that had come into influence over it. But with Csilla destroyed, the immediate surrounding regions had undergone destabilization.

A distress signal was sent out to the surrounding systems and soon enough, the New Imperial Order arrived in response. What they discovered was a capital city and complex in distress. Streets on fire from Maw affiliated terrorist and insurgent cells, Sharb was under siege. On top of this, the Killiks previously indentured and enslaved by the ruling noble houses took up arms and began to sprout in uprising in revenge against their masters.

Holding no other choice, the New Imperial Order is in a race against time to evacuate the population of Sharb, root out the insurgents and destroy the uprising.

The evacuation efforts on Sharb immediately set logistical troubles unto the New Imperial Order. While camps, vessels and stations are established to process these refugees, immediately, the Imperial Security Bureau brought forth concerns.

Concerns that the influx of refugees might be used as a means to sneak contraband, weapons and personnel into the New imperial Order to assist in the possible uprising of existing dissident groups.

Natually, the Brotherhood of the Maw and other insidious forces might seek to take advantage of these logistical vulnerabilities to conduct attacks on New Imperial military infrastructure.

The destruction looked total in Rexus' view. Place reminded him very well of Kaeshana and the godforsaken hellhole. With the gutted ruins and ancient stone once having marked out the prosperity of civilisation. Little more than ashes and dust. This was similar, but fresher. The musty smell of smouldering ash was still in the air when the Prefsbelt gunships scurried their way through orbit. Seemed these Maw guys were a mite bit tougher than any of the calculations done by the boffins. Even with only Csilla gone, a long shadow of its destruction had been cast out across the Galaxy to the worlds which were once dominated by the Chiss. And it was time to put them to the sword. Rescue them from a fate worse than death.

Not that such a mercy mission would not be without its own fruits. Operation Neon Vapour was now in effect. A long term project and collaboration between the Prefsbelt Office of Labour and Industry with the Project RUUSAN Sector Five Research Group. The Chiss had found a way to domesticate the nascent Killiks, and given their potency as a force together, Nova Avalonia wanted that secret cracked. Ergo, when the call came from Sharb for an assist, a small detatchment of elite Stossjaeger were halfway there. Of course such endeavours would not be met fully in the face of battle. Oh no. Prefsbelt Command would leave the large scale insurgency to the cities. This was a recon mission.

"Command," Rexus gargled into the helm, his throat still struggling after his last engagement, "This is Rommulus, we are closing in on the landing site." Elfet Estate. A smaller agricultural settlement. It was however one of the few settlements which held a killik queen1, and isolated enough from the city's that any Maw presence would be minimal at best. Both from them, and the ever present eyes of COMPNOR. And that was the key in this little gamble. "Thirty seconds tops command. And we'll come running." The shuttle skirted around the edge of the fields. Live readings indicated most of the killiks had assembled around the large manor house still burning.

"Copy Rommulus." Command drawled, "Remember. We need the Queen alive and subdued for study. All others are fair game. But this one needs to be handled with care." The shuttle, landed at the edge of an orchid, the large harvesting machines still whirring in place, empty without their droid or killik masters.

"Roger Command," Rexus growled, sliding out the door, "Will advise on status. Over and out."

The cleansing of Csilla was a bad omen for the rest of the galaxy. While many had been distracted by wars fought against the Sith and the Bryn. Many largely dismissed the idea of boogeymen deep in the Unknown Regions. That was until Csilla. After that everything changed. Strikes against the Sith, the Alliance by the Maw. Now the New Imperial Order had so dared to come close to the Maw’s encroaching grasp. Everywhere the Maw went destruction, chaos and anarchy reigned.

For the Maw, it was setting more useful allies free. The Killiks that had so long been enslaved, were now given the chance to rise up and see the blessings of the Maw. When the Maw arrived, sympathizers, true believers only made matters for the Imperials worse but aiding the Killiks and causing more destruction. For Kyrel and his Knights, he felt another loose end needed to be amended. The New Imperials had grown bold, he knew this from one life, and saw how confident they had grown since gaining independence. Something of which was something that needed to handled with caution, and for the Maw’s sake to snuff it out.

The Night Vulture had appeared over the city as if a dark harbinger. Below the screams of people sounded like music to the dead man’s ears as he jumped down from the hatch onto the chaotic city streets. The first unlucky soul to cross his path met a swift end by his crimson blade. Letting out a scream before his blade ended him.

Soon Kyrel was joined by his Knights around him. Covered in shadow, they moved quietly blending in with the chaos. Taking an eager part in the slaughter, before anymore Imperials arrived, when they did he would deliver a long awaited greeting of his own. As the blood flowed, his senses became more heightened. His desire for destruction increased. “Burn it all, Burn it all for the Avatars blessings. Praise be!” He said his voice shouting as if a dark holy man leading a sanguine filled sermon of sorts.

Hidden behind spotty clouds, the moon barely snuck through multiple rays of light into the thick dusk that had settled over the abandoned facility. Heavy silence permeated the air in complete contrast to the bustling and rattling of the makeshift refugee centers that had been set around the city. The destruction of Csilla had changed the course of history. Varian was here to make sure it was not altered further, at least not in a way to hamper Order.

Sniffing the air, a scornful expression formed on his face - the smell of ammonia mixed with hints of feminine perfume was a combination all too familiar, as of recently, to the spectre.

Nighthawk.

The ISB had recently began interfering far too much into operations conducted by the Imperial Spectres; whether that could be construed as a challenge to the Imperator's orders remained for the politicians to debate and discern. Wraith's only concern was capturing Warlip - an elusive Maw cultist renowned for conducting terrorist operations across the Unknown Regions. Intelligence indicated the man was the head of Maw efforts to sneak cultists through the refugee waves into New Imperial space.

Following the trail of ammonia and perfume, the dark avenger finally found Nighthawk on a rooftop observing the facility where Warlip was presumably at. The black armored figure launched himself from his vantage position and landed almost inaudibly, like a cat, a few feet behind the ISB agent.

"Nighthawk." his husky voice would greet her from behind, "This is no business concerning the Bureau."

At the Abandoned and Incomplete N&Z Beta Site-ERF1...

Sharb. Home to one of the most populous colonies of the Chiss Ascendancy now consumed by utter chaos. With the Killiks Rising up against the Chiss and the Brotherhood of the Maw sending their best agents to spread the Chaos. While being a secret member of the Brotherhood of the Maw himself Marlon Sularen had no interest in the current situation of Shrab as a whole , rather his eyes were on a single facility abandoned by the Zweihander Union while it was still under construction , the N&Z Beta Site-ERF1.

5 Years ago the treacherous Sith Lord Credius Nargath betrayed Marlon Sularen and took over his organization , the Directorate to form the Zweihander Union. Left with only a handful of loyalists and Assets Sularen attempted to dismantle Nargath's Organization but it had consolidated into a powerful force and Sularen's War against them turned against him and he was defeated resulting with him joining the New Imperial Order with no where else to go. While Sularen fought in the Braxtant Campaign alongside the New Imperials , the Zweihander Union expanded in Chiss Space heading towards Csilla although they collapsed before reaching the Planet itself.

Yet in the wake of their expansion , they had left dozens of Research Facilities , Military Outposts and Vaults scattered throughout the edges of Chiss Space and with their collapse Sularen now had the opportunity to claim some of their secrets that they left behind. However the Eternal Imperial attack on Byss and his subsequent Tensions with the Galactic Alliance only delayed his plans , although now the destruction of Csilla and the Chaos that ensued afterwards provided Sularen with the perfect opportunity to move in and secure what was rightfully his.

Sularen's T-4b Shuttle jumped out of hyperspace and arrived at Sharb proceeding to head towards the planet's Atmosphere. Already , Sularen had sent the Shadow Company and the Raptor Squad (Including Phantom) onboard 4 TIE/STs to the abandoned ZU Facility shortly before the New Imperial's Arrival in order to secure the Facility so that he could personally inspect it and uncover the secrets of his former enemies. As Sularen's Shuttle descended into the Planets atmosphere and emerged under the clouds of the Planet , Sularen saw smoke on the horizon from the cockpit of his Shuttle , demonstrating the grave state Sharb was in. The Mawite Incursion and the Killik Uprising would give Sularen the distraction he needed to formally investigate the ZU's Former Facility without any possibility of New Imperial Intervention as they would be too focused on Suppressing the Killik Uprising and dealing with the Maw.

Sularen's Shuttle landed within the Hangar Bays of the Facility located at the side of the Mountain where Colonel Rackham along with a small Squad of Shadow Troopers awaited Sularen's arrival. As Sularen exited his shuttle flanked by his Crimson Guard , the Politorate Colonel greeted the Lord-Imperator of Byss. "Welcome sir to the N&Z Beta Site-ERF1. I hope your trip here was great" The Colonel said. "Indeed it was Rackham." Sularen said in response. Then the Lord-Imperator noticed something , that the Lights of the Hangar were still off."Now can you tell me why the lights are still out. I thought you had reactivated the Site's Systems." Rackham face then suddenly went from friendly to serious indicating which made Sularen feel a bit uneasy "Yes about that sir. We have encountered alot of issues upon arrival and i must say , uncovering Nargath's Secrets here will be more harder then we expected"

They had to act quickly. Mithrad understood, at least from a logistics standpoint, the veritable chaos that the Imperator's men would soon face on Sharb and in the surrounding galactic regions. The monsters which perpetrated the eternal death of Csilla, the Chiss homeland, certainly weren't the kind to easily let go of a rich, ripe piece of morsel once they had sunken their teeth in it. If they wanted to save as many as possible, the Chiss remnants and their NIO samaritans and allies of fortune would have to be careful, yet also efficient and systematic. Thankfully, amidst those saved from Csilla was much of the old Capital's logistical and administrative staff- bureaucrats, accountants and diplomats, all with a relatively exceptional grasp of social interactions, particularly within their own kind.

Acting from within the veritably massive hangars of the Imperator's flagship, chiss agents were peppered in-between the various companies and lesser ships of the NIO's effort, in order to supplement the acting officers with professional attachés and intermediaries which knew well both the people, the culture and the terrain, thus easing the workload and aiding in the security of the evacuation efforts.

There, Mithrad himself did his best, in his characteristically placid manner, to separate the dozens of staff, even though he knew much of them only by basis of name for the time. Circumstances, war and suffering were far too much of a focus here to permit luxury and byzantine bureaucracy.

Sharb would not suffer the same end as Csilla, this much was certain- and even if it were, the only thing that would be struck would be an empty shell, devoid of it's evacuated citizens. Every Chiss life now mattered, after the billions of deaths incurred on the Homeland, and both the Chiss themselves and the Imperials knew this. If there was a time to showcase and display the excellence and merit of chiss bureaucracy, now and there would be the spectacle the Imperator would gain, as hundreds of Chiss statesmen, much of which had never worked with one another, now organized into teams, command structures and assigned tasks nearly seamlessly, all motivated by a single purpose- the salvation of Sharb's people.

Mithrad turned, having been forewarned of the impending arrival of both Great House diplomats, likely from the planet itself, as well as imperial diplomats. With a simple tap to the hologlasses he wore, the angular, cold administrated interrupted the feed of images and numbers projected into his left, ember and crimson eye. The time for words would come, but it would have to be imperious and direct words, as time was of the essence.

Before the arrivees stood a man of about six feet and a few inches with wide shoulders, though a visibly slender frame, testament to his history as much more of an official then a warrior, unlike much of NIO's own command structure. Although he wore black jackboots, along with assorted formal breeches and a belt upon which an AP-25i would be found holstered, that was about where the military-like appearance stopped.

The Chiss appeared to be wearing a black overcoat, with thinly gold-trimmed integrated pauldrons and a white, velvet waistcoat, beneath which was inserted a Scillan-style tie, jet black as well. It wasn't particularly gaudy, yet it was expensive enough to clear him as any form of military official and give him the much more appropriate airs of either a corporate or a diplomat.

Orika laid back against the grassy mound, her binoculars settled upon her face as she glanced across the horizon, a cracker crunching between her teeth. Her BKM-62x was set on it's bipod, prepared for use whenever necessary. Suddenly, the fringes of her vision lit up. Thermals, one, two, three of them tops. They moved in a disorganized clump, scampering over the plains area at a slower than average speed. The woman gave a light huff, moving to press her body against the ground, her finger settling on the trigger before guiding the bodies.

Pop, one fell forward onto his knees, the instant cauterization of the heavy-caliber round causing at most a light poof of red before crumpling into the grass. Frantic, the other two thermal marks in her enhanced vision began to scatter where cover could not be found. Orika took a deep breath in, holding it before another pop echoed through the air. Another one down. She trailed the last, watching his movements carefully to see if, perhaps, he was stupid enough to guide her back to the rest of his group. However, he disappeared into the brush almost instantly, hidden by both trees and mounds a like.

Who would imagine it, Orika, of all people, protecting Chiss refugees. An annoyed expression crossed her face as she sat back against the tree with a huff, her binoculars scanning the horizon once more, ensuring the camps were safe. That is, until a very familiar face caught her eyes. The head of the family, a councilwoman. One of ten she had on her list. Her body instantly locked up, this could be her opportunity, but the sound of flight over her head pierced the air and the distraction was enough to take her eyes from the camp. At least, for now.

She quickly grabbed her rifle, closing the bi-pod and changing position. Not much they could do against a sniper, but it was always better to be safe than sorry. Chatter erupted in her ear-piece, her eyes rolling so hard they nearly disappeared into the back of her head. It was somewhat controlled chaos down there, and she was glad to not be part of it. For now.

She slid against the mound she had so comfortably situated herself upon, taking her hood down and setting up to rendezvous with the other COMPNOR agents, having grown far too bored and far too irritated to remain on that damned firing position.

"Any suspicious entities so far? I've taken out most of the obvious, so they should be quiet for some time. However, my vision cannot see into the hearts of traitors." She questioned, the new recruit rubbing the back of her neck and turning her gaze up to the sky before looking back at the personnel in front of her.

"No, Ma'am. None worth apprehending at least. There were one or two cases of attempted weapons smuggling through the line but they were resolved quickly." The man responded, giving her a nod.

She smirked, slapping a hand on his cheek and patting it a few times with an almost sensual grin. "Good to hear, I suppose. Though it makes my time here much more boring. Keep up the good work." She then turned and departed, heading to the large tent where each incoming civilian would be questioned and have their identity marked down and filed away neatly in some database, likely to remain in archives for the extent of their life time.

It was then that she spotted a familiar face. Orika smirked once more, weaving through the people to call her over and ask a few quick questions.

House Haskler was at war. For decades it had sustained skirmishes, engaged troops in battles conducted by other factions. The best example was Csilla. The Imperial-Anaxsi had engaged small groups, mere units to sustain a war effort that wasn't theirs. But the fall of Csilla had changed things. Now, the Anaxsi were on a path of total war. If they took a world, then the New Imperial Order could also take a world. For now, they had to save the Chiss, but one day or another, the vengeful strike of an imperial superweapon would be felt across the hordes of the Maw.

Chiss had flocked to the Imperial banner as Csilla fell. Some tried to save their lives and riches by doing so, others were consumed by vengeance. One way or another, the Chiss Ascendancy was collapsing. The organised resistance felt at the Redoubt was no more. The Chiss were calling the Empire and hoped for protection. House Haskler had answered and Jerec knew Moff Julius Haskler was in orbit himself. The thing was unusual as he rarely went on the battlefield. But it seemed he would miss none of the battles over Chiss space.

Jerec and his company were fighting alongside the Banshees. The two groups of commandos had been sweeping the streets of Sharb, slaughtering the Killiks and Mawites found on their way. None was standing their wrath. The Anaxsi were at war and the Berserker was the vengeful avatar of an offended Imperialism bound to annihilate its enemies.

The TodHusars were scattered in the main street, pushing back the aliens towards the border of the urban concentration. Metre after metre, they had to give ground, and even their new Maxite allies could not slow the Anaxsi down. They were unstoppable, and Jerec was happy to practice again his sword skills. The Sith-Killer of Concordia had grown to face Darth Banshee on Muunilinst, but Killiks were different. They and their mind slaves proved to be tough as nails, albeit nothing compared to the Sith the Berserker had faced. Ultimately, they would be slaughtered to the last.

Moving out of the fight, Jerec led his men outside of the town and started hammering his enemies from behind. Quickly, the aliens were going to be destroyed, crushed between the Banshees' first and the other TodHusars' anvil. The arrival of a small group of Chiss Phalangists proved decisive in routing the Killiks. Jerec holstered his explosive maser pistol and shatter gun sheathed his sword and awaited the next orders. The Aggressor had control of the orbit and the Captain knew the command centre was able to assign them new orders.

As the fight boiled down, the next locations were uploaded to the Captain's HUD. Abandoned facility of unknown allegiance. Several life forms detected by the orbital scan. Identity unknown. A preemptive strike recommended avoiding any trouble while the larger units were busy fighting the Maw. Air support available but not explicitly authorised. Jerec assumed it was better to try and capture the building intact. Anyway. They had to go and strike quickly.

"Nukth! We movin' to the next location. Load your men in the gunships and let's go. Target uploaded in your HUD. Brief your men and be ready. It's vital to strike hard and disable them while we can. Standard explosive masers and SR-MAS. Dunno what opposition looks like so I'm assuming regular Mawites with base armour. Sonic will do just fine, and heavy masers will deal with the rest. Reload the grenades and grab additional thermal detonators. We may be required to blow the facility off. Jerec was not worried they could take down the whole place by themselves. And if heavy resistance was met, bombers could raze the facility while the TodHusars retreated and came later to inspect the ruins.
"Pilot! Keep the gunships low to avoid detection and stay close after landing for immediate evac if needed. Don't hesitate to unload the dakka and bast your way in. We don't know who we'll find there."

A dozen gunships flew by at max speed. No time was to be wasted. As the building became bigger and bigger, Jerec realised it was just standing atop a mountain. He guessed the rest of the structure was concealed under the rock. It may be a giant labyrinth, but the TodHusar trusted his men to be superior to that tricky environment. As per his orders, Banshee Company flew directly to the hangars while his crafts took a long turn in the mountains, that would slow them of handful seconds, enough for Nukth to blast his way in. Meanwhile, the other company landed on the top of the mountain and prepared to carve its way in the ceiling, surprising anyone distracted by the Banshees.

But as the teams prepared the low-profile explosives to open holes atop the facility, Jerec realised the hangar was occupied by Imperial shuttles. First Order? Impossible. They would have made themselves known before intervening. It must be something else. But it was something big.

"Call the Aggressor! We need immediate backup. Unidentified Imperial looking shuttles. The TodHusars are on the way to destroy whatever these Imperials are but we'd fancy some kind of help."

And as the message reached the command centre, the explosives began to fuse. The Anaxsi started the count.

Chiss remnants. How funny to see the Ascendancy had devolved from an arrogant nation ready to airlock an Imperial Diplomat to a rump state begging for the New Imperial Order's aid. If he had been cynic, Julius would have tasted the sweet touch of vengeance. But he wasn't of this kind. He believed the Chiss had to be comforted and helped. If they pledged themselves to the Empire, the diplomat would grant them full Imperial support.

Walking in the corridors of the Aggressor, the Moff rethought what he was going to do. He was going to meet a civilian administrator, a survivor of Csilla, leading a group of Chiss ready to help the New Imperial Order conquering Chiss space. He needed to broker an agreement and set up the foundations of what would become the Chiss Protectorate. If the Ascendancy was collapsing, it had to be replaced by something stronger and more accurate. And maybe this Mithrad could become one of the Imperial representatives of the Chiss Protectorate.

He met him on the bridge and was surprised to see a man sculpted by military training. He was expecting a low-ranking bureaucrat, not a potent leader. But it could help a lot to save Sharb and prepare for the aftermath. Adjusting his ornate diplomatic suit, Julius stepped on the bridge and saluted the Chiss.

"Pleased to meet you, Sir Mithrad. I am Julius Haskler, Moff of the Yinchorr Sector, Heir to House Haskler of Anaxes. I assume you are the head of Chiss operations here. We have plenty of matters to settle today, so maybe we should get straight into it. You are currently the most high-ranking Chiss administrator to have asked the Empire's aid, which we are happy to provide. Operations on Sharb are currently underway to push back the Mawites and cleanse the planet of the Killiks' trace. Meanwhile, transports of refugees from Csilla are prepared to leave Carlac and come back to Chiss space. How do you plan to welcome them?"

The question was open, and Julius hoped they could hop from one subject to the other quickly. No time was to be wasted on these urgent matters.

Almost every screen in the galaxy showed it happening, but by the time they knew about it Csilla was already gone. The tension had been thick when the CEDF had gotten word of the attack. The planet had been locked down, and the military mobilized from all corners of Chiss space to converge on the capital. But it wasn’t enough.

Bounty hunting had led Maiven home at the wrong time, but she supposed there was no right time for something like this to happen. The fear in the guild office waiting room was palpable, terror gripping each and every person as they tried to pull their eyes from the holonet news footage. But they couldn’t. The last thing they saw was the firing of the superweapon. Then the room went quiet. Those who couldn’t believe their eyes tried to contact their friends and family on Csilla, and quickly learned that it had really happened. Csilla was destroyed. A world that had stood solid and bright in the darkness of the Unknown Regions for all of time… gone.

Maiven’s eyes began to well, along with those of a billion more of her people.

The next few days had hardly happened. Before all of this they might have killed her, but when Maiven returned to her family, they welcomed her. Old rivalries and hatred had to be put aside, not just to restore peace and order, but for the sake of their very existence.

The Chiss Ascendancy lay in ruin. Its once well oiled bureaucracy had not run smoothly in years as its authority waned, but the destruction of Csilla had caused a chaos never before seen by her people. Carefully constructed hierarchies and lineages cultivated over millennia were eradicated in only a few hours. Entire minor houses were extinct, and the great houses had their order shaken, if not outright broken into pieces. House Nuruodo needed as many of its people as possible in this time of crisis…

NIV Dissident Aggressor

She had not seen it before, but the New Imperial Order were the saviours the Unknown Regions needed. She had no love for the Sith, and had written the New Empire off as more of the same. And no one could have expected the Brotherhood of the Maw. But now the NIO had shown its true colours, and it was clear the Red Flame burned bright in their hearts even if they didn’t know it.

Much of the diaspora had heeded the final words of the Ascendancy, and Chiss from around the galaxy returning to their ancestral homeworlds helped greatly in the relief effort. But they brought problems of their own. New arrivals and refugees required food and shelter, and without the central government to coordinate, each Chiss world was having to deal with the crisis on its own.

Named the ambassador of the Naporite government for her experience dealing with Humans, Maiven arrived on the Dissident Aggressor with pride and hope. Despite her past conflicts with her house, it felt good to bear the pin of their crest over her heart. To some extent it felt undeserved, but a Chiss always did what they had to, and filled the roles that needed to be. Though she was unaware of the extent of what occurred on the planet below, she firmly believed Sharb to be in the right hands under the NIO, and perhaps their experiences there would make them inclined to help her.

Naporar was the seat of the Expansionary Defense Force and the military capital of the Chiss. It stood as the most defensible planet in the Ascendancy, and the terrified masses flocked to it like a beacon in droves. A mass exodus from the western edge of Chiss space followed the attack, with fear that the encroaching Brotherhood would strike and enslave any number of their worlds next. Some refugees had been turned away, and subsequently accepted by the neighbouring world of Sposia, but both worlds were beginning to feel the stress.

The CEDF was spread thin, unable to recoup what they’d lost at the hands of the Brotherhood fleet. Desperate refugees turned into pirates and highwaymen were they not found and killed by the Raiders of the Maw that still prowled the hyperlanes.

They needed the New Imperials.

The delegation from House Nuruodo was uncharacteristically small for the mighty house, but the majority of their diplomats had been killed on Csilla. Now the survivors had the grim and challenging task of trying to prevent such a thing from happening again.

Maiven sported her old officer’s dress uniform: A suit jacket and pencil skirt, topped with a beret bearing the sigil of the CEDF, all in the standard black with the scarlet trim that symbolized the Red Flame. Her reinstatement had been quick and improper, but duty called.

Bridging the talks between the Great Houses and the Imperial aligned remnants was Julius Haskler, a chief diplomat of the New Order, or so she’d been told. The Chiss diplomats stood behind him as he introduced himself to the man who would likely soon be their new leader.

"Pleased to meet you, Sir Mithrad. I am Julius Haskler, Moff of the Yinchorr Sector, Heir to House Haskler of Anaxes. I assume you are the head of Chiss operations here. We have plenty of matters to settle today, so maybe we should get straight into it. You are currently the most high-ranking Chiss administrator to have asked the Empire's aid, which we are happy to provide. Operations on Sharb are currently underway to push back the Mawites and cleanse the planet of the Killiks' trace. Meanwhile, transports of refugees from Csilla are prepared to leave Carlac and come back to Chiss space. How do you plan to welcome them?"

Maiven quickly realized the situation on the surface was worse than she'd known, but it was his second statement that stuck out to her. She'd hoped the Empire would have a more forward plan to help the Chiss, though it seemed like they didn't.

"A word, if I may," she stepped up beside the two men. "My name is Rama'ive'nuruodo, of the House Nuruodo and the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force. I came here to bear the news that the military is willing to cooperate with you and your Imperial allies," she turned from Mithrad to Haskler with a fury in her eyes, "but you can't seriously be asking us to take more refugees. The eastern worlds can't feed the ones we have, and the people who destroyed our home are still a threat."

Though she kept her tone as calm as she could, they would surely still be able to see that underneath she was irate, and didn't carry herself with the same kind of stoicism most Chiss officers did. Some would say it was a weakness, but perhaps her emotion could appeal to their humanity...

The influx of refugees had been no different this time around as it had in the past- throwing open the window wide for their enemies to attempt sabotage from within. It was a predictable maneuver, one that she personally would have suggested in the past, had she been on the other side of history, or perhaps still entrenched deep within the culture of thievery she had scraped a life together for herself in. Yet here she was, a decidedly changed woman, now fighting to restore order... or so it seemed. She brought it in her own sort of way, lovingly sprinkling in dashes of chaos throughout to ensure life with a badge had never gotten too dull for her taste. If she couldn't love, she could fight. And if she couldn't fight, she could love.

Balance was the key in maintaining the ideal lifestyle for the agent, and the Imperial Security Bureau had offered her exactly that. The ability to work independently and absolve threats of their potency how she so desired, yet structure to keep her stable and a wide plethora of coworkers to pluck the strings of for her rocks. This particular assignment had been one she had foreseen coming, but she was no less enthused about it because of that, rather the idea of sniffing out radical terrorists sounded quite like the task she could enjoy. It would be easy for her.

The tides of refugees were full of nothing but despair and fear, drowning in their reasonable grief and misery as they trekked through the checkpoints and followed the barked orders. Surely, any fanaticism and anticipation would light up like a beacon through all the negativity to one as keen as her. And yet, she found herself bored as she poised on the rooftop across from entry control, crystalline blue eyes focused through the lenses of her binoculars as she watched over the crowd hawkishly, violet painted lips pursed.

Her attention was grabbed by the light-footed two-step behind her, though she didn't need to look to suspect who it was.​

"Nighthawk." his husky voice would greet her from behind, "This is no business concerning the Bureau."

Her lips curled into a coy smile, puckering slightly as she turned her head, at last, casting aside a silken wave of iridescent violet to look him up and down. "Avenger, baby, it's great to see you too." She purred, shifting her hips slightly with her focus returned to the crowd in the distance. "So lovely of you to offer to keep me company, sit, sit." A manicured hand patted the rooftop by her side.

"I'm afraid this is a matter directly concerning the Bureau, but that doesn't mean we have to be at each others' throats... not this early into the night, at least." Chelenne punctuated her statement with a silky chuckle, the sound pouring over her tongue as liquid velvet.

Approaching NIV Dissident Aggressor

The Ommin-Class shuttle sailed through the sea of stars, coasting through the vast expanse as it's stealth systems engaged. The durasteel coating of the jet black state-of-the-art shuttle sparked to life as it trembled and faded into the backdrop, vanishing in a wave of camouflage that blended ship with the void around it. Scrambling sensors, redirecting comms, and most of all cloaking all forms of it's silent approach; the New Sith Order vessel closed in on the NIV Dissident Aggressor. The engine roar dwindled, slowed by the controlled approach toward the hangar bay as the shuttle pierced the veil, penetrating the blue shielding that separated ship from space.

As it touched down, steam rolled from beneath it's underbelly, the cloaking measures quickly peeling away as it's true form revealed itself. A gloved hand switched off the displays from the cockpit of the vessel, powering down the shuttle as the robed male prepared to depart. It wouldn't be long before the entire behemoth was alerted to his presence, he would have to take precautions. The masked warrior rose from his seated position and stretched out his reach for a final grab before leaving the cockpit, his fingers finding solace as they felt along the surface of small, pyramid object connected to the navi-computer. The Sith's hand gripped tightly around the object, around the Wayfinder, and pulled it from it's mounted position before departing.

Whether he would be capable of retrieving the vessel after completing his task or not did not matter, he would not give the enemy any means of retracing his steps back to the New Sith Order's home. Worst came to worst, he'd simply abandon the shuttle to the New Imperials. The risk was great being here, in the very belly of the beast, and the Sith Apprentice would take no chances. Letifer would do what needed to be done, a job only a Sith could do.

Striking deep into the heart of the Imperator's very own flagship, he would steal whatever information he could from Imperial databanks and kill any high ranking officials he could get his hands on. There was a war coming, they would strike preemptively.

Suffering bred darkness. And in the wake of Csilla...there was a great deal of suffering. The Galaxy was eroding at the edges, with the Order serving as one of the few bastions of Order, one of the few holdouts in this corrupt, dreaded mortal realm that offered no respite to the virtuous...and all the spoils to the wicked.

In meditation aboard the Dissident Aggressor, the Lord Executor had managed to establish himself a home away from home, taking charge of the vessel from the Sovereign Imperator he sat knelt on a projection of the Iron Sun cast in platinum beneath him, enveloped in a small, exotic garden that was his to tender.

His very soul came under attack from the darkness veiled around him. Compounded on the constant agony inflicted unto his mortal shell wrought by the remnants of dark twilight, his conviction to order was under a constant threat and his constant exposure to the vantablack terrors of the Sith and the Bryn'adul did nothing to cure this ailments.

Just as he was easing into a meditative rest, surrounded by the nourishing air wrought unto the self contained atmosphere by bristling plant life- he felt a presence. An insidious one at that, an intruder, a cloak and dagger in the darkness.

His pale argent eyes pried open at the disturbance and he slowly reached for the iron masque.

Gently, he placed it over his burnt and tortured face before feeling it clasp to his features. In that moment, he'd become the Lord Executor, forsaking the weakened flesh and bone of Rurik Fel for the visage of metal.

He rose to his feet and left his meditation chamber.

He would find it...and he would end it.

In his absence from the Imperial Assembly, he had toiled. In his time away from his desk of authority, he had slaved. In the time those who claimed to be his allies had left him to whatever hand the Dark Voice dealt, he suffered. The malice he had caged for ages had finally been released and viciously, he longed to watch their precious Order toppled to ruin. Far detached from the place the battle would take place, The Vulture nested himself comfortably upon the overlook, armored legs draped over the ledge with casual poise. He had forgone his arctic plate, that recognizable Aegis of Woe, and instead donned the vestments of The Maw, layering himself beneath dark robes and polished betaplast. His face was masked by an unremarkable face carved from durasteel, bearing typical features where helmets of his own design would have neglected to carve eye slots.

Unrecognizable, his distinctive features lay buried deep beneath his cloth and steel, tucked away where his former allies could not foresee his betrayal, not before it could be properly orchestrated when he so chose. Yet, his Presence was ravenous in its dreadful crawl, how it bled pestilence and madness with his lax hold upon its reins. It had been more than enough to incite violence in the Killiks kept as pet and slave by the nobles, urging them to rage. He had freed them from their chains and given them the knowledge of their own might to do so. Naturally, it was all manipulation through the ephemeral ties that bind, their primal instincts for visceral carnage had always existed, all he had to do was pluck the right chord.

Those nobles and civilians alike who had been slaughtered in the rampage had swiftly been brought back to their feet, reanimated to march alongside the ranks of the bleeding, Sith Imperial soldiers The Vulture had recently swelled his ranks with after his concealed efforts on Thule. Where his own soldiers were recognizable in their New Imperial armor, these were not so. The plate of The Sith Empire adorned their busted, often mangled bodies, and unlike the children he cared so meticulously for, they had been left to rot in the rank underground of the civilization here, filling the air with the putrid stench of festering decay. The undead chiss and killiks alike followed the collective hive, severed from their own minds, and sported whatever weapons- issued or makeshift- they could get their stiff fingers around.

A horrific scene awaited the New Imperial forces when they finally arrived, as they would be met by hundreds of dead men and women marching in jerking formation, operating under one man's collective order to slaughter them at any cost.

And it was with an eager smile Caelitus sat back on his perch, reaching through The Force to watch the show unravel.​

Varian's glare narrowed into a squint at her shapely form as her provocative words rolled off the tongue. An alluring glint flashed across her violet glance and Varian realized he'd been standing static for longer than he should've. Hardly anything was capable of distracting the stoic spectre, but over their few previous encounters he'd come to realize her presence always felt like a dangerously slippery slope.

He stepped up to her side silently, ignoring her implicit toying remarks and gazed at the processing area below. The tide of people going through the control points into the facility had declined into the night. in comparison to the daytime traffic of refugees. Yet, the risk of collateral damage was equally the same; the Imperator's orders had been clear - keep damage to a minimum, the New Imperials didn't need a scene for the smear campaigners of the galaxy. The risk had just exponentially increased with the appearance of the pink rogue over here.

The dark avenger tapped a few buttons on his wrist, activating the scanner within his helmet's HUD and swept the area below looking for a match of Warlip.

"I had hoped the waves of refugees had winded down more..." Varian commented, partially to himself, partially to the Zeltron agent, "... I need to make sure the risk of collateral is minimized, that all possible scenarios are accounted for--" the spectre's helmet turned to scrutinize the violet menace next to him, "--this is not going to be another Nirauan, you understand?"

It was enough for the mention of their last encounter to induce the same intense headache as he had experienced when dealing with Nighthawk during a strike on an insurgent cell.

Calmly, the Moff took the time to salute the new interlocutor and listen to her complaints. She was right on many points and her remarks were justified.

A word, if I may. My name is Rama'ive'nuruodo, of the House Nuruodo and the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force. I came here to bear the news that the military is willing to cooperate with you and your Imperial allies. But you can't seriously be asking us to take more refugees. The eastern worlds can't feed the ones we have, and the people who destroyed our home are still a threat.​

Julius immediately understood the level of misery the Chiss were in. It was not disarray, it was pure shock and terror. They needed counselling and he was there to provide them just that. He decided it was best to reassure them before anything was done. The refugees from Carlac posed a problem as it was dangerous to maintain them longer in transit camps. However, Sharb was ill-suited to welcome more Chiss. Even with the Killiks eliminated, the planet would be too overpopulated and disorganised to host more and more people. They needed a solution.

"Lady Maiven. I would like to thank you wholeheartedly for the support you are giving us. The New Imperial Order stands in the Unknown regions as a state of order, and we are happy to ally ourselves to anyone willing to commit their forces to a greater cause, that of peace through security. But I apologise if I misspoke. It is not my intention to rest the weight of managing the refugees on your shoulders. I was merely asking if solutions had been elaborated or if my help was needed.

What I could advise is to transfer the refugees to the Redoubt. It has been spared by the war and is perfectly suited to host a large number of Chiss. Plus, it's almost empty and in perfect condition. The numerous settlements of the system are perfect for this task, and there are a number of supplies already stored there. Might I add, farms and other facilities can be occupied and used as soon as civilians land there.

I think you could move your headquarters there too. It would reassure a number of Chiss citizens to see their new leaders close to them. And the New Imperial forces could also protect you more efficiently, even though I believe the CEDF would be perfectly able to handle that matter too. Or maybe it prefers leaving the defensive tasks to us and will prepare a vengeful strike in the heart of the Maw? I know House Mitth had already deployed its most formidable warship alongside a New Imperial battlegroup to chase the Mawite dreadnought we mauled at Csilla. We could consider collaborating with them in order to be more effective than ever."

The diplomat was unsure of how to handle the military campaign. The First Order, the Chiss Ascendancy and the Houses were at war in their unique ways. But the strikes were not coordinated, and even Gallius was wasting efficiency with his vengeful attitude. He had to be recalled to protect the Chiss worlds. And the New Imperials had to choose their targets carefully to ensure the Ascendancy was protected.

Zart, it was a difficult situation.

Darkness is the absence of light. Fear is the absence of hope. Chaos is the absence of order.

A myriad of thoughts ran through Raza's mind as she stood there, staring at the bulkhead ahead of her.

Images of the destruction of Csilla, the home she had grown up on. The home she had trained to defend. The home she had hoped to always have to return to. The soul-deep feeling of sudden absence, as the lives of every being on Csilla were suddenly wiped from existence. Like the soft hum of electronics in the background, only discernable by its absence rather than its presence when it was there. The feeling of the dirt on her skin, in her hair, after having escaped the planet. The knowledge that it was some of the last particles of Csilla in existence, but still feeling the desperate need to be clean. To attempt to wipe the day away, wash it down a drain, and pretend.

The thoughts all ran through her mind as Raza stared at the bulkhead in front of her.

New Imperial naval officers and enlisted passed by her, offering only glances as they walked by. She was in the uniform of Imperial Intelligence, making her something no one wanted to interfere with already. Her blue skin and red eyes marked her as Chiss, a thing none of them knew how to deal with right then. So they kept on walking by. She was aware of them all, of their glances, of their surface thoughts. Pity, sadness, empathy. Irritation, at her simply standing there. She could feel them all around her, see them in the reflection on the bulkhead, see their shadows in her periphery.

All of the thoughts ran through her mind as she stared at the bulkhead in front of her. But she couldn't feel any single one of them, couldn't focus on anything right then.

Decades of discipline, learning at the foot of her Father and her Mother. Learning at what passed for a finishing school when your future in service to Csilla was already decided. Learning on missions, all with one goal in mind.

Preservation of Csilla and the ideals it represented. Order.

All gone in a flash.

All washed down the drain as she frantically showered herself clean. Followed by a dozen more showers worth of water, more layers of Chiss skin as she tried desperately to scrub her soul clean through her flesh.

It hadn't worked, not quite. She was clean but felt empty. All of her thoughts in her mind, the sensations of those around her filling her up, and still she felt empty. Void.

One of the feelings in the back of her head, filtered through the spark at her center that intrinsically linked her to the Force, pushed more to the fore, waiting for her attention. Moments later, a red beacon on the pad held lifelessly in her left hand drew her to move. Her head shifted, eyes alighting upon a simple two-word phrase.

Intruder Detected

Training kicked her the rest of the way awake, for she had been in a waking sleep. The feeling at the back of her mind sprang to the fore, a feeling that something dark and powerful had come near. Familiar in its foreignness.

Her body shifted into motion. Long, graceful legs moved her into the stream of Imperials, now moving quicker as word spread. Her fingers tapped over the pad, bringing up the image of a ship in their hangar.

A cruel grin spread over her face, and though the thoughts in her mind were still trying to deal with the loss of Csilla, a part of her now had a mission. Something to focus on.

The angular Chiss offered a formal bow of his head in acknowledgement of the imperial Moff, recognizing well the expertise and noble pedigree of the man by his mannerisms, behaviors and verbiage- all traits not too dissimilar from the internal politickings once practiced amidst the Great and minor Houses of Csilla itself, once upon a time. His thin lips broke into a faint, protocolar smile, although it was quite definitely forced under the... cataclysmic circumstances of their first meeting. Although Rodam'ithra'dovor indeed bore a military-like rigidity to his airs, perhaps such was more a result of chiss cultural upbringings then a true career officer's path, as he yet bore a certain cordiality of character which would no doubt be more reminiscent of fellow corps diplomats to the Yinchorr Moff.

Mithrad listened to the Imperial administrator's words and inquiries, offering an attentive visage, with a slightly tilted, black brow and a stern eye. His head only moved succintly to offer affirmative nods, such as when the Moff mentionned chiss operations and administration. As he opened his mouth to provide an answer, arms still folded in deep sleeves in his back, the Chiss representative of House Nuruodo made her appearance, solliciting a surprised, yet somewhat relieved gaze from Rodam'ithra. The Csillan bureaucrat offered her an upper-torso bow in acknowledgement, as while she appeared to be of upper noble birth, he himself had risen the civilian government ranks on his merit, a fourth son of a minor, unknown House whom nonetheless respected the Chiss's aristocratic traditions.

"Rodam'ithra'dovor, Csillan Ministry of the Interior... formerly."
He replied somewhat bitterly, as the pair had presented themselves, declaring his own full Chiss name, before continuing.
"I am awash with relief to hear that the Defense Force has still retained some of its strength and it's structure. Following the fall of the Capital, chaos was all we were able to gather when it came to intelligence, and worrying reports of these Maw despoilers raiding other western territories and planets continued to come to my attention through imperial informants. Pragmatically, I had to prepare for the worst, and as one of the last members of the fallen Interior Ministry, I've gathered the few here that remained in order to aid in the evacuation of the most threatened worlds."

Mithrad sighed then as she pointed out the dreadfully daunting truth of the situation in her last few words. The normally slick and cold lower Aristocra shook his head slightly, ember-tinted eyes briefly closing as he ran information through his head.
"The Defense Force, and it's proud and stern warriors will be of great aid to the chiss remnants, should it stand by our people, as it has done so for time immemorial. I've recently conducted an emergency meeting with Imperator Tavlar. It came to our common realization that any effort in retaking, resettling and recolonizing Chiss Space in the current situation is likely to suffer enormous risks, notably in the form of Mawite incursions, raids and other military movements that would stretch Imperial troops too far from their current strongholds, as the war against the Sith continues on the other side of the New Imperial Order. In such an uphill battle, even more of our civilian brothers and sisters may be put at risk and used as an advantage against our newfound allies- a risk I am frankly unwilling to take, as we all reel from the tragedy of our capital homeland."

The chiss administrator did not appear to be speaking such words lightly, as his grim tone undernoted his own internal desire for vengeance- yet the true priority of the moment was certainly to protect and save what remained.
"Thus, this leads me to a perhaps controversial, yet I believe necessary solution, and an answer to both of your queries, one with which the Imperator agrees."
Mithrad lifted a hand to his hologlasses, pressing a small button on the right side, which projected a small holographic depiction of the upper quadrants of the galaxy inbetween the diplomats. His hand lifted, beginning to zoom into an area nearby the imperial capital of Bastion which contained the Raioballo, Atrivis and Lahara sectors.

"As you likely know, Lord Haskler, the Sith Empire recently lost control over a large quantity of planets and sectors following the takeover of Vaal, Yavin and Vjun. Amidst the area surrounding the worlds of Dantooine, Shusugaunt and Artorias is a section of space that is in need of pacification and economical rebirth, that could serve as a new home for the Chiss exiles, either temporarily or permanently. With such proximity to both Bastion and Muunilinst, our people could find respite there, whilst simultaneously providing a great service to the Imperial Order, whom has aided in saving countless chiss lives."

Mithrad's hand weaved through the holographic projection, pointing at various spots of interests and drawing a general regional map of the area. From his mannerism and the certitude at which the Chiss talked, one could almost presume he had already gone through a considerable amount of data and calculated possibilities before coming to such a plan of action.
"Committing to such a movement of populations would be no easy task, yet in the middle to long term it means less endangered civilians and assets and a possible burden for the Empire turned into an asset. Our kind has long lived in isolation from the rest of the galaxy. Perhaps such benefited us for generations, yet what just happened to our beloved Csilla is proof that perhaps we were wrong in thinking ourselves beyond the Galaxy's great conflicts."
He turned to offer his undivided gaze to lady Maiven then, finishing his point, and offering a gaze that implied he wanted to hear her opinion on such a project.
"In time, such new, stabilized worlds may provide a worthy launching point for a proper, Chiss reconquest of our fallen worlds, and vengeance worthy of a hundred stars upon our enemies."

Just before Orika motioned to call out to Corinne, a familiar face stepped out of the camp from the left side of her vision. Vorain, as she would be called for the sake of simplicity. She was not the highest ranking target on Orika's list, but she was still on it. Here she was, walking off suspiciously into the tree line. How convenient.

Orika's steps were light and accurate, weaving through the thickening crowd of frightened refugees with expert precision. Her hand moved down to her hip, settling on her pistol. She had a sinking feeling in her abdomen, a tingling sense of something being severely amiss, and it was unusual for her instinct to be incorrect.

Infrared hues flared up in the corners of her vision. Two others, though little more could be discerned. One of them was much larger than the other, most likely a Killik, the other perhaps one from the Maw, but perhaps not. Her crimson eyes narrowed, then withdrawing her pistol and leaning back against a nearby tree. Waiting. Watching.

"Is the package loaded and prepared for transport?" Vorain questioned, her tone holding the chill of Chiss diplomacy within it. There was no empathy to be had here, not from her.

The Killik turned to the plainly dressed woman standing beside them, giving a nod and uttering some form of words that could vaguely resemble communication. The woman then turned back to Vorain, translating. "Yes, you can be at ease knowing it has been secured. We've a party of roughly five men approaching with it in tow." Orika grit her teeth, whatever it was they were discussing, it couldn't be good. At the very least, it certainly was not supplies for the encampment. She closed her eyes, lifting a hand ever so slowly to disable her comms. This would get messy.

"When can I expect their arrival." Vorain responded. "I grow tired of the array of questioning by the New Imperial Order's intelligence force. We may not have an opportunity like this again." The Killik once more turned to their translator.

"Two hours tops, they're only a few miles from the checkpoint. I'll be seeing you there?" The translator questioned, lifting a brow.

"Of course. No others know of this exchange, as you requested. Now..." She slowly extended her hand, the other held at her waist. "I'll be taking my reward."

The translator rustled around in their satchel for a moment before withdrawing a small bag of some sort and tossing it to her. Vorain gave a pleased smirk, nodding to them. "And so ends our business. For now. See to it that my way is free of obstruction when I approach."

With a few parting words and a dip of the head from either party, they separated, the displaced Chiss Ascendancy council-woman heading back to the camp. In almost deathly, trained silence, Orika stalked her prey. Just before they reached the tree-line, she lunged forward, latching her hand over the woman's mouth and angrily growling her next words into her ear.

"Once a rat, always a rat. You're coming with me, and you're going to tell me everything I need to know about what I just witnessed."

With that, Vorain was dragged off deeper into the woods, beyond sight or sound of the encampment. It was time for the interrogation, and it would not be a pleasant process. At least, not for Vorain.

Chiss Space was in disarray. The destruction of Csilla had left many of the inhabitants as little more than refugees, scattered among the stars in the wake of the loss of their home. A great many had turned to the NIO, seeking asylum from those that helped with the mass evacuation on the planet. In the end, Kaz didn't particularly care about what happened to the Chiss as a whole. He didn't have anything against the Chiss, but the only thing that remained at the forefront of his mind was the ever-present mission; the preservation of the NIO's supremacy. If that meant assisting the Chiss refugees, then Kaz would see it done.

Kaz had been patrolling the skies above Sharb in his new TIE Phantom, courtesy of COMPNOR. The stealth fighter made patrolling the skies easy, allowing Kaz to fly without worry of being detected by possible insurgent cells. Reports had mentioned a Maw presence on the planet, likely looking to take advantage of the chaotic aftermath of Csilla's destruction. Kaz anticipated this as soon as he had heard word of Csilla's fate. Having spent years in the criminal underworld, he was well aware of how opportunists operated. They operated like parasites feeding off of carrion flesh. He should know... he used to be one himself.

Sensors began to pick up a random fighter nearby, causing Kaz to change course. Approaching the vessel, Kaz could make out the markings of the Maw on the craft. He immediately fired up his targeting systems, and without a sign of warning, he shot the fighter out of the sky. It was the fourth fighter he had picked off today. He expected it wouldn't be his last, at least... until a coded transmission came in.

<<Unknown vessel spotted nearby. Possible hostile activity. Rendezvous coordinates transmitting now. Investigate and eliminate targets as necessary.>>

A long sigh left his lips as the transmission ended.

"Damn."

He was hoping for an easy day, but it looked like the galaxy had other plans for him today. Pulling up the coordinates, Kaz checked the movements of NIO elements within the area. It appeared that Jerec Yularen and his Todhusars were already on their way to the coordinates.

"Well at least we'll have backup."

Kaz quickly whipped his Phantom around once again, punching it as he put a transmission through to Yularen.

The Phantom shot through the air, moving at full speed through the skies of Sharb. He wasn't sure if Yularen had begun to move, but he sure as hell wasn't going to let him have all of the fun.
