As Aurora Industries has advanced its research into different fields of science, Taeli felt it might be best to construct a more secure location for advanced research to take place. While the company would continue its traditional expansion efforts, Taeli would begin sending resources to a remote uninhabited system in Wild Space, one that Taeli had rescued a friend from during the time of the Republic, to begin construction of the Horizon Research Station.
Built with secrecy in mind, the Horizon Research Station does not sport much in the way of weaponry or defenses itself, only having a few quad lasers, point defense lasers, and flak guns. Instead, it relies on the uncharted nature of the system it resides in, the layers of encryption on its communications, and the Aurora security fleet stationed in system. What the Horizon station does have in terms of defense is multiple layers of armor and shielding, with internal security utilizing Aurora droids and turrets, along with ray shield projectors and turadium blast doors at key points throughout the facility.
The Horizon Research Station is to be the main area of highly sensitive research and experiments for the company, such projects being deemed too valuable or questionable to be done in explored and civilized space. Multiple decks of research labs were built, each one designated for specific areas of science, including advanced droid technologies, further experiments into Sianium, bio-engineering experiments, and so on. Along with these research labs are extensive storage areas for the results and supplies of the experiments, along with a carbonite freezing chamber for long term preservation.
The station also is mostly self-sufficient, with living quarters for those scientists living on the station and hydroponics providing food. Water is retrieved from the wild planet below, which plays host to several testing grounds the scientists of the station can use. An internal tram system exists through the center of the facility, allowing quick and easy movement of personnel, supplies, and experiments to designated areas from the docking bays of the station.
In the lower sections of the facility, there are whispers of more secretive experiments being performed that are tied to Taeli's past, but only a very select few are allowed access to these lower laboratories.
