  • Electromagnetic Warrior: With its ECM and EPM arrays, the Nemesis-class is capable of exerting significant influence on the electromagnetic environment in almost any given battlespace. It can disrupt enemy targeting solutions while enhancing its own, pierce through concerted jamming, and execute yet more feats.
  • Amphibian: The life support systems, electromotive field motors, and hydrostatic fields allow the Nemesis to traverse underwater and remain submerged for an indefinite period of time. In a pinch, this function could be used to hide from pursuing enemy forces or even to initiate a surprise attack!
  • Low Profile: The Nemesis-class has coatings on its hull which effectively lower the craft’s sensor profile and render it more difficult to distinguish against the backdrop, thereby making it harder to register and lock onto at range. However, this does not approach true stealth capability, since it does not grant true sensor or sensory invisibility.
  • Sniper: While the Nemesis is not a significantly upgunned starfighter, its defining armament are a pair of axially mounted sniper cannons. These weapons allow the pilot to engage targets at ultra-long ranges, far outside the reach of most sensor systems, point-defense weapons, and missiles. Dealing with even a single Nemesis often requires enemy commanders to divert multiple starfighters away from the action to engage the distant threat, tying up resources in the process. And this does not account for the craft’s...
  • Speed: The ability to quickly relocate and traverse across a given battlespace was considered paramount to the Nemesis’s survival. Thus, preserving the craft’s speed was a priority of its design, allowing it to utilize shoot-and-scoot tactics in a manner akin to mobile artillery.
  • Scope: To fit its combat profile, the Nemesis has uprated sensors and targeting systems which are capable of locating, locking onto, and engaging targets at extreme ranges. This ensures that the craft’s long-ranged sniper cannons are not significantly limited by the range of its sensors.

  • Automation: The Nemesis-class is supported by a suite of automated processes which govern its targeting systems, power systems, flight control systems, and yet more. In the event that these systems are somehow disabled, whether via EMP/Ion discharge, concentrated slicing, or in rare cases, jamming, the operating efficiency of the craft will be negatively affected.
  • Sensitive Passive Sensors: The passive sensor array on the hull of the Nemesis-class is an extreme boon to the pilot’s battlespace awareness, especially in conditions where the use of active sensors may reveal the craft’s location. However, they are also very vulnerable, as even glancing blows can destroy or disable the sensors on or around the affected areas. In essence, as the hull takes more hits, the Spyglass’ passive reception array will become increasingly ineffective.
  • Straight and Narrow: The SLAM Mk. II provides a significant boost to speed and acceleration, but it compromises maneuverability while active.

The Nemesis-class Eliminator-Starfighter represents the continued maturation of the Kainate starfighter fleet. With most of the common and advanced small craft classifications filled, Malsheem Hypernautics and Manufacturing requested that First United Astral Engineering design a special purpose craft intended to fill a rarer role: an aerospace sniper craft designed to eliminate targets at extended ranges. To fill this role, the Nemesis is designed around two axial sniper cannons which serve as its primary weapon systems. These allow for engagement far beyond standard range bands, allowing the pilot to strike targets from standoff distances, often beyond sensor range.

Naturally, the Nemesis-class includes the full suite of systems that are hallmarks of First United Astral Engineering-designed small craft. As a result, the craft has a full complement of ECM, EPM, and electromagnetic warfare systems. It is battle net-linked and has excellent comms, enabling powerful networking capabilities. Of particular note, the Nemesis is the first Kainate small craft to include the FAE/E-01 Coaxium-Pulse Detonation Drive, a small craft engine that allows for virtually unlimited through self-synthesizing hypermatter fuel.

The standard controls for the Nemesis-class were a pair of independent control columns with levered handgrips. These offered a higher range of motion and control over the craft, with strong haptic feedback allowing the pilot to maintain a greater sense of their surroundings. However, programmable matter controls and ergonomics, allowed pilots to configure the cockpit with virtually any control scheme. Neural interfacing was provided by the Symbiotic Ghost Link, effectively melding their minds with the machine when in use. This allowed the pilot to work seamlessly with the fighter, acting almost as if they were one entity.

All in all, the Nemesis-class Eliminator-Starfighter fills a critical role in the Kainate starfighter fleet as an ultra-long-ranged support asset to eliminate high-value targets from afar. In this way, the Nemesis is intended to ensure Kainite dominion even over enemies who might believe themselves secure by virtue of distance, heavy shielding, and armor.
