OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: The Globex Corporation
  • Affiliation: The Globex Corporation
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: GPO-12 "Ironmaze" Threat-Prevention Suite
  • Modularity: Limited; may be updated/tinkered with.
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Ones and Zeros.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Ironmaze Threat-Prevention Suites function in a variety of ways, depending on the requirements of the situation. Most of their operations are fairly industry-standard in regards to preventing regular threats, but the software derives its name from how it interferes with Mechu-Deru and similarly arcane threats - by aggressively dedicating massive amounts of computing power to encrypting and decrypting data as part of an attempt at creating a "digital maze" to befuddle the space wizards. This is semi-reliable in advanced systems, less so in the mass-produced.
  • There is a free version and a reasonably priced premium version; most security experts recommend the latter.
STRENGTHS
  • Clever Shield: A combination of self-learning security protocols and frequent updates allows the Ironmaze to offer excellent protection from everything from dime-a-dozen viruses to targeted slicing and even the tampering of Force Users... with sufficient processing power.
  • Compatibility: Ironmaze is compatible with basically anything that's electronic, from your OmniLink to your Star Destroyer.
WEAKNESSES
  • Endless Hunger: Limited primarily by processing power, Ironmaze is notoriously resource-intensive while in active use and doubly so when facing a particularly challenging threat. In a worst-case scenario, it may very well cripple the system in its eagerness to protect it.
  • Space Magic: Ironmaze's capability to protect from Mechu-Deru is quite limited in all but the most bleeding-edge processors; even a BRT Supercomputer may not be sufficient to resist the advances of a master of that mysterious art without additional countermeasures*.
DESCRIPTION
Cybersecurity. An essential component of any modern product bold enough to connect to other devices and the most recent focus of Globex's R&D teams. In typical Globex fashion, their solution is reliable, clever, and notoriously performance heavy - if you want secure servers, invest in high-end servers, preferably ones manufactured and/or operated by Globex. Definitely no attempted monopolies here, nope.

Ironmaze is available for free or for a reasonable monthly/yearly/lifetime price on the HoloNet and can be downloaded to pretty much anything. You could even put it in your toaster, though the relative lack of processing power would make it about as threatening as a defanged kitten.

*Most commonly slang for "shooting the space wizards before they reach the mainframe".
