SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Microjump — When equipped with a Microjump Capacitor a ship gains the ability to flash forward across a vast distance of realspace. This can be used to travel between 10,000 km to 1 parsec.
  • Scale Dependent— The number of times a Microjump Capacitor can be used in a six-hour window is dependent on the scale of the ship:
    • Small Craft — 5 times
    • Corvette — 4 times
    • Frigate —3 times
    • Cruiser — 2 times
    • Star Destroyer — 1 time
    • Battle Cruiser — 0 times
    • Dreadnaught — 0 times
STRENGTHS
  • Closing Distance — The Microjump Capacitor allows a ship to close the distance between itself and a target.
  • Passing Through — The Microjump Capacitor allows the equipped ship to move through other ships and debris in realspace.
  • Multiple Installation Options — The Microjump Capacitor has a compact design which allows it to be installed anywhere from a starfighter to a star destroyer.
WEAKNESSES
  • Overheating —When a ship attempts to go beyond the recommended number of microjumps in a six-hour window, there’s a 50% chance the microjump will fail to happen, and a 100% chance that the system will completely burnout and will need to be replaced.
  • Gravity Wells — The Microjump Capacitor does not allow a ship to escape an interdiction field being created by a gravity well projector or similar technology. Similarly, Microjump Capacitor does not allow a ship to move through astronomical objects like stars or planets.
  • Imprecise — The Microjump Capacitor allows a vessel to flash forward toward a general proximity, around a 50 km area. This can cause problems when multiple capital ships use the Micro-Jump Capacitor to move in concert together. There’s a significant chance of collision when an entire fleet uses Microjump Capacitor the move forward.
  • Signature — When Microjump Capacitor is activated it leaves an easy-to-detect signature behind the area it just left behind. Due to the short-range nature of the technology, this gives an enemy a feasible range to engage a search.
  • Installation Limits — The Microjump Capacitor cannot be installed on anything larger than a star destroyer (or any vessel that is greater than 2000 meters in length).
DESCRIPTION

The Microjump Capacitor was developed to increase the safety of ships attempting to make a microjump. While the technology that emerged didn't completely eliminate the risks of microjumping, the engineers managed to narrow the general proximity a ship would jump into from thousands of kilometres to a 50 kilometre area. Additionally, another success they found was their ability to devise a compact and flexible design that could be used on a range of ship types. The only downside with the compact design, or one size fits all approach, was that the number of microjumps scaled down as the vessel it was equipped on scaled up. This meant that a large capital ship could only manage to safely make a single microjump without risking a complete burnout of the Microjump Capacitor.
