OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
Contractors were the most recognizable face of the Silver Shield Group. Whatever services Silver Shield provided to its customers, it would invariably be contractors that performed the dirty work. Contractors maintained a reputation for being relentless and methodical in pursuit of their duties.
Contractors were recruited from worlds with historically imperial leanings. They were predominantly human or near-human, and similarly possessed a sense of smug, humanocentric superiority. They privately looked down on the populations they were charged with policing, believing them to be helpless, incompetent, and otherwise unfortunate primitives. Contractors referred to them succinctly as “loincloths.”
Paired with this quiet disdain was their slavish adherence to the Silver Shield Group Standardized Operating Protocols. SSGSOP was an exhaustive document that regulated the conduct of contractors down to the even the most minute, excruciating details. All contractors held encyclopedic knowledge SSGSOP, courtesy of their cybernetic enhancements. Violations and deviations from these procedures were therefore exceedingly rare.
Contractors were organized along the following units: Company (500), led by a Major. Platoon (100), led by a Captain. Dispatch (10), led by a Lieutenant. Fireteam (5), led by a Sergeant.
Contractors without a command position held the title of Junior Officer. After a certain number of deployments or a certain period of continuous employment, Contractors were given the title of Senior Officer.
Contractors were also divided into Configurations to reflect specialization and additional training they received. Each configuration was denoted by its own armor pattern. Those who completed basic training were referred to as CON-1, or Operators. As their career with the Silver Shield Group evolved, they could receive additional training and be promoted to another Configuration.
CON-2 consisted of Sappers, who operated heavy weapons and were usually trained in demolitions, combat engineering, or tactical driving. CON-3 was made up of Specialists, who were frequently designated marksmen, but may have also been trained in reconnaissance, field medicine, or digital security.
Liaisons made up CON-4. Liaisons functioned as the field leadership of the Silver Shield Group and were frequently placed in command of entire units. To this end, they were often trained for either battlefield command or small-squad tactics. Liaisons not functioning as command staff had additional training in investigative strategies, interrogation, military or law enforcement training, or public relations.

COMBAT INFORMATION
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

[ + ] Contractors had access to top of the line weapons, equipment, and cybernetics. Silver Shield Group spent more money per-individual than most formal militaries, and it showed.
[ + ] Contractors received rigorous training in addition to their previous military or law enforcement experience and adhered closely to Silver Shield operating procedures. Errors and misconduct were unheard of. Usually.
[ - ] Contractors were often perfunctory at best and rude at worst when dealing with 'civilians.' This generally resulted in tension and resentment among populations they were charged with protecting… Or pacifying.
[ - ] Contractors adhered so closely to Silver Shield operating procedures that their decision making often became rote and predictable, even in the midst of combat. Tight restrictions on use of force would leave them at disadvantage against certain, savvy enemies.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Silver Shield Contractors were as old as the Silver Shield Group. First established on Eriadu, they were a common sight in neighboring sectors following the collapse of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. As the Silver Shield Group expanded, so too did its recruitment efforts, which roped in former stormtroopers of the First Order and Galactic Empire. Law enforcement and planetary defense force members from worlds such as Carida, Anaxes, Corulag, Dosuun, and Tion were also targeted.
Upon recruitment, all contractors were subject to a grueling retraining and assessment period to familiarize themselves with the expectations and procedures of the Silver Shield Group. This included, among other things, instruction in urban warfare, facility security, counterinsurgency tactics, and generalized law enforcement. Those deemed fit for service were issued certificates of competence and outfitted with a proprietary suite of cybernetic enhancements.
Once a short period of acclimatization was completed, contractors were placed in reserve units and deployed as needed.

My Terminatrix alt approves of how the Sictis Order embraces technology and progress.

  • Equipment: SA-17 Combat Armor (customized for cybernetic interfacing), various standard weapons
The armour checks out, but all weapons need to be listed and linked.

Closed Market is a Factory rating. Or are you saying they're available for hire by select parties? Based on the description, they only serve the Sictis Order.

I do strive for the approval of Terminatrix units.

The offending line has been removed from the Equipment section. I don't really have a specific kit in mind for them outside of the armor.

I also made some changes to the description to be less conflicting, but the tail-end of Historical Information mentions does explicitly say they are occasionally hired out.

Submission moved to pre-codex as per writer request.

Please remember to include a list of changes when you tag a member of codex staff to move the submission back to live judgement.
