The Warrior Spirit

The hot flames conjured and projected at the giant by the Sith came rather too close for comfort as the Mandalorian had rolled rearwards to get some distance between the woman, corrupted and twisted by the vile machinations of the Dark Side; the flames the woman conjured were but a mere handbreadth away from licking the large, arctic camouflaged poncho Kranak wore over his armor for concealment.

The Mandalorian returned fire immediately after Exiting his combat roll at a crouch; drawing a particle pistol to complement the verpine battle rifle in his hand, the giant unleashed a volley of particle bolts and regular armor piercing rounds with each squeeze of the trigger.

But the rounds did not find their intended mark.

Stopped as if by an invisible hand, they were suspended midair just a few feet before the woman. Witnessing her feat in the force as the particle bolts simply dissipated, and the solid armor piercing projectiles just fell, gently buried onto the snow covered ground, bereft of the deadly velocity they once possessed when they were shot out the barrel of his verpine, Kranak momentarily ceased fire in response to save ammunition instead of continuing a long winded volley.

Her hand raised forth towards him at an instant; the giant braced for another wave of heat to be conjured and sprayed towards his way, cautiously taking another step rearwards.

But the woman had a different idea this time, it seemed.

The verpine battle rifle in his right hand’s firm grasp would be yanked free from his hand after a moment’s struggle, to the giant’s surprise; the rifle’s sling snapped free from the gun’s swing swivels by the handguard and the buttstock as the woman pulled the master crafted weapon away from him with the application of the Force. As the rifle was tossed several yards behind her onto the ground, the disciple of the Dark Side taunted, and challenged the giant of a Mandalorian.

"Are you a warrior or a coward?" she asked him.

At her words, a grin emerged from his scarred features underneath the armored visage of his helmet. With a brief, muffled chuckle, the man toggled on his helmet annunciator with a wordless command to his heads-up display as he rose to his feet, exiting his crouched combat stance he had assumed; the muffled, leathery clack of a holster was swept away in the picking up wind as Kranak returned the particle pistol to its holster secured on the left side of his kama.

If a confrontation in melee combat was what she sought after, he would not be the one to deny her that right.

<”And you have rehearsed that ‘insult’ in front of a mirror for how long?”> snickering, the giant raised her a scornful question in return, returning her taunt in kind with a snarky quip. He had heard of insults far more demeaning than this in his lifetime so far, from enemies as despicable as the Sith standing before him. Surely, the woman had something better in her vocabulary than an insult so simple.

<”Come then, break your fury upon me,”> in a more serious tone, the giant beckoned her to make good on her challenge and strike him as the sharp rasp of a blade drawn from its sheath cut the wind. Wielding the ancient relic of his people in his hands, the Mandalorian was quick to assume a defensive stance; his feet kept apart in his shoulder width, he pointed his left shoulder at the Sith, standing sideways against his opponent to reduce his silhouette. The point of the two handed sword was aimed at her chest as he kept the hilt more off to the side in front of his hip joint. <”Show me what passes for fury among your misbegotten kind.”>

Despite his sardonic comment earlier however, and the silent wondering whether he had found his match or not, the giant would not be the one to make the fatal mistake of underestimating the capabilities his opponent possessed while they fought.

He would fight dirty, savagely and without remorse, just as he expected no less from the Sith before him.

Giving the beast of a Ren his usual death glare he spoke in a guttural tone. “We are here Yamou for secrets of the old Order… Secrets that would see the Ren burn the entire galaxy. All in due time.” He said is words carried an ominous cloud hinting at his larger goals. “If you excuse me all this wandering has left me famished.”
The darkness enveloped them, and Yamou was unprepared for its strong presence. The aura, and Kyrel's presence, positively bathed the beast in power, in a malicious presence that was almost tangible. Again he thought of the promises of power the Ren of the past, those that had fallen, had promised to him, and he knew now that none of it was a lie.

It ended as quickly as it began.

“Come Yamou secrets of the old order await the Ren.” He said his conviction oozing with bloodlust.
And those very same fallen Ren had left their secrets here to be reclaimed. With a silent bow, Yamou followed close behind Kyrel, keeping an eye out for any pursuers. One of the Mandalorians that had been taken out tried to rise from the ground, armour cracked and broken. Almost instinctively, Yamou was seized with murderous intent. He crushed the Mandalorian's skull with his boot as the pair strode past.

Kragr was hit by a powerful Force blast, sending the large Mandalorian back, but it might not have had the expected effect that the Sith had wanted as Kragr's activated his energy shield and raised it right as the Force blast connected. Due to the Mandalorian's sheer size and stature, the blast sent Kragr skidding over the floor a good 4 or 5 meters away before the warrior managed to halt himself from the Force push.

With a sneer from getting caught by the Force blast, Kragr bolted at Dimitri with renewed energy as the little Jedi seemed to have a good grip on most of the Sith's focus. Kragr kept his energy shield active, not become he was afraid of the Sith Lord's glowstick would be able to slice through his armour, but because it provided a wider area of blocking the Mawite's strikes.

Fate might smile Kragr's way as it seemed the little Jedi's tenacity to keep most if not all of the Sith's main focus, giving Kragr a lot of room for his own series of attacks.

Kragr came in but at the last moment, side-stepped in a flash to get behind the Sith Lord and delivered a brutal, but fierce pummeling strike toward Dimitri's back, dead set on shattering the Sith Lord's spine while the little green Jedi bellowed hellfire from her mouth at the front. If Kragr's attack connected, not only would Dimitri have his spine blown to pieces, but a sonic shattering boom would ripe through the air and devastating sonic energy would wreak havoc on Dimitri's internal organs with enough force to shatter titanium and send an average-sized person 40 feet back.

catharsis

An icy whirlwind began to creep up on them from the direction of the mountains.

The Sith Lord was impressed and injured at equal measure.

Ptolemis expected Mandalorians to be fierce warriors of great experience, and indeed this one also proved to be as such. Perhaps the initial clues picked up by his senses at the beginning of the fight meant that she was no ordinary Mandalorian… but something far more sinister. Something that lent her tremendous capabilities. He won't underestimate her again.

Ptolemis stood again in the middle of the snowy road as the massive wall sluggishly lifted into the air by his will, his lightsaber extinguished, hilt half-melted – same with the arm that wielded it. His weapon was malfunctioning; sparks and smoke crawled upward and were swept away by the wind as he clutched the damaged metallic object. It got utterly bombarded and overcharged by the exploding particle bolts; even without the Force, these Enclavers were more than equipped to take on a Sith, it seemed. With his sleeve caught on fire, the weapon-wielding arm charred and scorched by the myriads of small explosions, he was forced on the back foot; and still, he was deprived the time to act in any meaningful capacity. The onslaught was unending.

A sharp, downright painful disturbance in the Force cuts through to Ptolemis' brain. Follow-up missiles, the famous whistling birds, are launched at him before he could swat away the Mandalorian in the air. And with his saber not igniting – and being useless against the projectiles anyway –, he is left no other choice than to let go of the massive structure, dropping it back onto the bridge it got torn off of, else he would be torn apart right then and there by the whistling birds. As the boulder-wall falls upon the ground, amid deep tremors, it collapses into a thousand pieces.

With the missiles now being very close, in a split second Ptolemis cuts off his telekinetic expression of the Force, drops his lightsaber on the ground, slides a single step back, and extends both his open palms toward the arrows of death that are about to atomize him.

In addition to the staccato bass of the exploding missiles, pre-planted thermal detonators also join this symphony of fire masterminded by the grey-armored Mandalorian. The intense smoke, flames and superheated snow-steam form an almost thirty-meter wide and tall chaotic, impenetrable fog of debris and destruction around the location of the Sith Lord. Even with built-in optics, this thick microcosm the Mandalorian warrior created should prove difficult to navigate. The Sith's fate remains a mystery.

”You’re gonna have to do a lot better against me, schutta!”

As the last of the detonations ring out, no action appears to be reciprocated by the Masked Sith... if he even lives. Yet the airborne Mandalorian presses on. She dives, and a whipcord is quickly fired into the obscuring steam cloud and at the location Ptolemis inhabited only moments prior – as well as further golden blaster bolts. But none find purchase. The whipcord twangs as it hits the empty ground, and the muffled thuds of the pistol bolts crash into the carbonated bedrock beneath the fiery cloud.

After a few tense moments, a villainous, but subtle laughter begins to revolve around the premises. Its sounds reflect off of the snow banks, are amplified by the chasm next to them, and flow down from the heavens all at once. Yet the Sith is still unseen. Eerie whispers slither along the ground, glacially following Ptolemis' opponent wherever she may hover or stand. The mouthless voices whisper cruel truths and tell tales of terrifying futures. They gnaw at Shai's mind directly.

And without warning, Ptolemis materializes a few meters behind Shai – most of his clothes burnt off, revealing his militaristic under-armor and duraplast vest –, having drained most of the explosives' devastating output and translating the energy into a violent motion to drag her by the legs to himself, with the ultimate goal to assault her not physically… but mentally. He reaches to grab a hold of her and unleash terror upon her mind.

DARK DUEL

Of course he expected her swift movements.

So much like another Jedi Master of her species he had known so long ago. Which meant that he wasn't going to be a salt pillar either. When she blocked, he moved as well with the same speed, parrying her blade with his own as he kept the Drain on her.

The two of them kept moving around as her swift little movements peppered at him, their blades a blur of cyan and blood. Her movements did start to slow slightly from the drain, however. Meanwhile the Mandalorian had regained his balance to charge at the Dragon once again - complete with a shield and melee weapon.

When the little Jedi launched herself into the air once more, the Ancient Dread also moved - this time with the speed of his species coupled with the Force.

In a blur of red, the Sith Lord shifted to the side just as flame burst from her mouth just as the ground thundered where he had stood. He had missed the swift movement of the Mando'ad and had nearly succumbed to the hammer. Not to mention that he had to break off the Drain on Yenna, who was immediately upon with another flurry of strikes.

As she touched down on the ground again, she took a moment to look at him.
"Dimitri! Please… help you, let me. Do this, we do not have to! Hope, there still is. Humanity, there still is in you!"
As she spoke, he kept an eye on the Mandalorian - until she said one word.
Hollow eyes looked at her then. "Don't be so sure, Jedi." he said before rushing the Mandalorian with inhuman speed, his blade flashing out to meet him head on while his mind lashed out in a multi-pronged attack to the Mando'ad's mind, prodding and poking for cracks while shearing across what could only be the Jedi's bit of shielding. But she hadn't reckoned with the power he now wielded, living fully up to his Title as of old. The mental Hydra would inflict shards on it with such fury that the Jedi would have a hard time upholding the shield.

All the while, the blood-red blade clashed with the warrior.

The raged-fueled Mandalorian met the Dragon head-on as he snapped his free gauntleted hand up and grabbed hold of the Sith Lord's crimson blade before the Sith's attack went through. Kragr felt his back violently crash into the wall behind him from the sheer force of the speed when Dimitri came at him. That was the Sith Lord's first mistake, getting close to the giant, thinking he could gain the upper hand, but the Sith only placed himself within the melee range of Kragr.

Lights flickered from the wall while smaller sparks sprung in every direction due to the destruction Kragr's frame had caused after the Dragon attacked. The Beskar alloy that was directly holding an iron grip onto the lightsaber blade started to glow, giving off a bright orange colour as tiny sparks flew out from the gauntlet's palm.

When Dimitri prods and poked for cracks inside of the Mandalorian's mind, he was first met with a bottomless pool of wrath, like a living fortress hardened over an unknown amount of years. It's defence would not be able to hold on forever, if Dimitri had done his mind digging at the safety of his own base of operation, but that wasn't the case now. Not only did Yen's shielding aid in the wrath-filled fortress by repelling the Sith Lord's attack for now, but Kragr did not let the Sith do his mind tricks for long.

Having an iron grip around Dimitri's crimson blade, Kragr slammed the head of his Warhammer into the Sith's stomach as swinging it so close to the Sith wouldn't provide enough force to do too much. The giant warrior followed his thrust attack to the Sith's stomach with a brutal helmet headbutt attack directed at Dimitri's nose.

Without letting go of the crimson blade, Kragr then came in with a mean right hook aimed at the Sith's jaw with a roar like a dragon of his own and continued to release an onslaught upon the Dragon.

Khael activated his comlink as he sprinted. "What did you see, Juno? What am I running into?"

<”Kyrel Ren and his plus one are headed your way.”>

Juno left the icy backdrop of Rothana behind for the dank, frigid darkness of the long access tunnel. Thick snowdrifts gave way to hard, durasteel floors. She heard screams echoing down the tunnel walls, and saw a sinister, crimson light flickering in the darkness ahead.

They were the screams of dead men. The red light pulsed brighter, the screams reached a crescendo, and then:

Silence. There was only her breath, the clinking jostle of her gear, the patter of her boots against the durasteel. She shortened her stride, eking out more speed. Too slow, I need to move faster.

The young huntress engaged her Pulsar jetpack, the ion engines blasting her down the tunnel with a resounding roar. The Sith would hear her coming, but secrecy wasn’t exactly the game here, not anymore- the taozin nodule had done its job well enough. She was coming in fast, and she was coming in loud.

Two figures materialized in the distant darkness. The little light there glinted off the broken armor of her fallen vode. Even as her anger surged, her training took over. She was just as much a Y'ivra as she was a Karjr. Snarling, she raised her Double-E and squeezed off five quick particle bolts downrange, three for Kyrel and two for the massive Yamou.

She stopped her flight short, a little over ten meters away, and took aim.

HEAVEN KNOWS

<"And you have rehearsed that 'insult' in front of a mirror for how long?">

Ada let out a smirk.
"Is that the best you can come up with, Mandalorian." she snickered. "Guess you people are as bereft of personality as the stereotype suggests." she went on as he drew a sword of his own. She could feel the Force resonating from it. Interesting.

She might be able to use it against him.

<"Show me what passes for fury among your misbegotten kind.">

The Ember let out a haunting laugh at the words.
"My kind?" she chuckled. "You know nothing, Mandalorian. I'm completely different from the misbegotten kind you speak of." Her flame red hair crackled and sparked as she felt her goddess' presence at the words. "I'm much more than that."

Then she disappeared...

...only to appear again in a plume of smoke and sparks at on his left side with a slice toward his neck with her saber while she also held her beskar dagger that she had come to the Brotherhood with.

Time to check his defences.

The tunnel walls echoed with the pounding of durasteel boots, Khael's breathing heavy not from exhaustion but anticipation. He unsheathed Dha'kumura in one swift motion, readied his blaster pistol in his off-hand, steeled his soul for the coming fight.

Khael heard a blaster shot being cracked off shortly before he rounded the next corner, greeted with the sight of Juno firing down the hall at two tall, imposing figures, one a veritable giant. There was no time to consider the fallen Mando'ade, opponents like these would punish any hesitation or lack in concentration. With a thought, Khael ignited his jetpack's engines as he leaned forward, rocketing past Juno before she had loosed her last shot, flying down the corridor almost horizontal.

He snapped off a quick bolt at each of his foes to distract them as he closed to personal range, then cut off his jetpack engines abruptly and let the momentum carry him forward, down on one armoured knee which screeched along the metal decking to slow him down. He fired a short burst from his wrist-mounted flamethrower, coating the corpses of the fallen Mandalorians and the tunnel walls around the Sith, his clan's blade held ready to meet the crimson sabers of the Maw.

Expecting an attack from the way the man's hand where hovering over his lightsabers, slowly Grendel brought his massive Hammer to a ready stance.

"If you are Sith then you are my enemy, for I am a Mandalorian"

With a roar Grendel swung his Hammer with all his strength in a simple downwards arc in attempt to crush the Sith with devastating blow. Even if the blow failed to land it would still shatter the ground around himself for several meters making it uneven.

Kale Onara made his way along the snow covered canyon. It was a canyon with various pathways that crisscrossed, had multiple vertical layers and caves so it was a perfect playground for a fight of attrition against a numerically superior force. Which was a good thing because that was what was chasing him right now. It seemed that the Maw takes it kind of personally when you bury one of the armor columns under several tons of rock, snow and debris. They had been harassing him for a while now and Kale was sick of it.

Now it was time for the hunted to become the hunter...

As the Maw began closing in on the valley, Kale started by planting a few proximity mines at the mouth of some of the caves, placing them so that they couldn't be seen from the outside. Then he made his way along the paths jumping up to get the high ground advantage on his approaching foes. He refrained from using his jet pack due to the fact that it could easily tip the enemy off to his exact position. Once he was at a good height, he hunkered down and watched as the Maw forces closed in. There had to be at least a platoon chasing him. The smart play would've been to wait for more Maw forces to join in the pursuit but Kale figured the Maw were too pissed off at him to wait. Nobody could ever really accuse the Maw of having a monopoly on intelligence and Kale would play this to his advantage. Kale saw the Maw platoon begin to disperse to begin searching for their quarry.

Here we go... Kale thought to himself.

Kale silently circled around and got into a good shooting position. He unslung his modified A280C blaster rifle and acquired one of the Maw troopers at the back of a search unit. Taking a relaxing breath, Kale squeezed the trigger until it went past the break. The single shot hit the Maw trooper in the head, killing him instantly. Kale withdrew immediately as the Maw began to react and was long gone by the time they got a bead on where that shot came from. Now that the Maw troops knew they were being hunted, it was time to ratchet up the pressure.

Kale continued to observe the enemy from various observation points he found and occasionally sniped another Maw trooper to keep them on their toes.

Hit and fade...

Hit and fade...

It worked great for the Rebellion against the Empire and it was working for him now. Kale noticed that one of the search teams were closing in on one of his booby trapped cave entrances. They seemed to be rather reluctant to enter so Kale gave them a little incentive by sniping one of their teammates. That got them to run far enough into the cave mouth to set off the proximity mine.

BOOM!!!

Well, when five bodies explode there's bound to be plenty of blood and body parts to decorate a cave interior... Kale thought to himself grinning as he moved on. The Maw search teams were moving at a snail's pace trying to watch everywhere at once afraid of getting sniped. Now it was time for Kale to switch tactics. Quietly watching a moving six man team from a perch not three meters above them, Kale readied his whipcord launcher. Getting a good bead on the last man in the team, he fired his whipcord with great precision. The cord wrapped around the neck of the Maw trooper and he yanked hard on the line. This had a two-fold effect. First, the sudden force snapped the trooper's neck and second, the trooper's body was lifted off the ground up to Kale's position silently. It actually took about 30 seconds before they realized that their rear man was gone. They circled up but they couldn't see where their teammate's body went nor could they see their opponent. They began moving again becoming more and more jumpy by the minute. The troopers fanned out a bit so as not get caught by an explosive or grenade. Not a bad idea except, that also meant they were more vulnerable to to other attacks. Such as the trooper who was suddenly grabbed and felt the horrible liquid warmth of his blood spilling down his chest after being silently cut by Kale's vibroknife.

Kale faded into the snow drifts stalking the remaining four troopers. As the troopers moved, they began hearing a strange sound. It turns out to be...music? A chant? Whatever it was, it was getting louder and louder. The four troopers as well as two other search teams came racing toward the cacophony of music. Kale grinned as the Maw forces closed in on the audio speaker that was piping out a Mandalorian war chant. It grew so loud they could barely stand it. Finally, one of the troopers broke, took aim and fired at the speaker. The shot hit the speaker and a tremendous explosion followed from the thermal detonator that was right under the speaker killing at the four troopers as well as two other six man search teams. The remaining search teams finally broke and ran. One team ran into a nearby cave...and a waiting proximity mine. The rest just ran for the canyon's entrance. Kale took up a final position and sniped a few more of the Maw as they retreated. He thought about going after the last few but decided against it for several reasons. One, they would carry the events of what had happened here back to their people, helping to instill fear and damage morale. Two, there were only about four or five left. Hardly worth taking the time to hunt down when there were better targets to attack. Three, he was running out of ordinance and needed a resupply. He thought about where to get more munitions and figured that the Maw had plenty so why not take it from them? After the last of the Maw were long gone, Kale activated his jet pack and began to recon around for a Maw munitions dump to raid. As he flew, a saying came to mind from a wise warrior he met once.

Wars are won in the will...

Oh how true it was as he just demonstrated here with the blood of his enemies...

OOC: Hope you enjoyed this. If you want to hear the War Chant I was basing this on, here's the link:

One of the bolts smashed into his armour, the other impacting Yamou's drawn sword. It absorbed the hit, though he did not wish to chance more blaster damage on the weapon, for it was not lightsaber.

He charged forward barreling down the tunnel, attempting to close the distance and use his height and strength to overpower the smaller Mandalorian.

From behind her, another Mandalorian soared forth, landing just in front of Yamou and aiming his wrist. The Acolyte recognised its meaning, and just as the flame poured forth he Pushed with the Force, forcing a momentary path of air that pushed the flame aside. Power surged through his limbs as he drank in the pain of the heat, and he closed the final distance and swung his greatsword at Khael.

Oh ho ho, shovelin' snow.
Haul it high and haul it low.
Rush ye maggots to move too slow

Else be back without wenches and bl-

<"Hey, boss, we're here.">

The hushed whisper broke Kybo from his thoughts, and he wiped the snow out of his helmet visor. They were now only a hundred feet from the Mandalorian base's generators. What it generated, Kybo was not entirely sure. He had seen the schematics the steel-singers of the Maw had provided. Power, life-support, comms & uplink, deflector shields... Suffice to say, these generators were important.

The pirate checked the portable signal receiver wired into his armour. The battle above was beginning to heat up considerably, but the outcome was still uncertain. Unfortunately, they'd have no orbital fire support, even if the deflector generators went down.

<"Quick and quiet, boys. Move to the ridgeline and await the signal.">

The pirates, clad in light environmental armour and camouflage, moved through the snow. The wind and snow obscured vision, and any Mando sentries ringing the generators would have a hard time picking up definite readings even with thermals. The ring of infiltrators began to tighten around the base. When they had reached moved up the slight incline ringing the base they halted.

Kybo checked his receiver again. Passive sensors did not detect any heavy weapons or transports inbound. Well, now or never.

<"Give 'em hell.">

As one, the fifty-odd infiltrators rose from the snow and charged, screaming. Blaster cannons and grenade launchers lit up the generator base, a sudden cacophony of war descending on them. Mando sentries fell where they stood, cut down by blade and bullet alike as the pirates stormed the base, smashing through Mandalorian resistance, converging towards the generator plants in the centre of the outpost.

"X marks the spot, ye reavers! Get to it and set charges!"

Siv did not usually hate. Hate was a waste of emotion, a distraction that led to error on the hunt. If you were carefree with your emotions, that led to compromises that meant failed targets, or worse, death. Over the years Siv had perfected his cool and callous demeanor, uncaring, emotionless. Just focused. But none of that mattered when it came to the Sith. He hated the Sith.

And now they were here, on Rothana. With the raid on Argovia, Siv had expected as much. The Karjr intelligence network was not blind, even if the Enclave was slow to act on the leads they were given. But despite that, the Maw's plunge into the heart of Enclave space had still taken the Karjr by surprise, and it had turned into a race to the system to defend the Enclave's industrial heart from destruction. Had Rothana been held by anyone else, its garrison would have capitulated and been eliminated long before any reinforcements could arrive.

But Rothana was held by Mandalorians. And Mandalorians did not cave so easily.

Siv had taken up a rear position surveying the rear of the Mandalorian defenses, entrenched as they held the line bitterly against Death's Hand dar'ginate -- Faithless -- and Maw raiders and Sith. The Mandalorian forces, beleaguered as they were, were intractable. But they were still overwhelmed, and in the chaos cracks were beginning to form.

The generators behind the Mandalorian defensive line were key to the defense of the sector, providing power to the heavy artillery situated on the westward ridge whose field of range stretched across the entire sector. The ridge was key to Mandalorian air and ground defenses, pounding away at Maw troops and dropships; and the generators were key to the ridge, providing power in the frigid cold. Though not a glorious task, a platoon of sentries had been stationed at the generators to repel any surprise attack; and Siv was watching over them. He was hardly a front-line fighter himself, and his expertise would be wasted in the trenches. Here was where he felt most comfortable.

Though it lit up the entire valley, the battle seemed distance, the flashes of light and thunderous explosions only echoes amidst the falling snow. The sentries stood their ground, vigilant for any approaching Maw troops, though there were none to be seen.

And that was when the ground erupted, and all hell broke loose.

Maw raiders underneath the drifts of snow burst from their places of concealment, instantly bringing down a half dozen Mandalorians by surprise. "Find cover!" Siv roared over the sudden confusion as he leapt from the ground, his jetpack spurting to life and thrusting him into the sky. Airborne, he fired down a wrist rocket at two tightly packed Maw raiders advancing, the explosion shredding their bodies and staining the snow around them a dark red. But there were two that followed, firing up at Siv and forcing him to evade back to the ground to avoid being shot out of the sky. His HUD scrambling, he counted at least fifty Maw raiders, easily outnumbering the small defensive platoon of a dozen or so, half of which were down or dead. "This is Siv Dragr, at the generators. We need immediate backup and close air support, now!" He roared into his commlink as he fired his blaster pistol at the thickening line of Mawite raiders.

Siv began to fall back step by step along with the other Mandalorians, with those who hadn't been stationed within the outpost already retreating to the meager cover it provided. The blasterfire, eruptions and falling snow had reduced visibility so much that Siv was beginning to rely on thermals almost exclusively to see his foe, and even that was obscured by the frigid Rothana temperatures. But he had to hold, despite everything, for the crux of the Mandalorian defense relied on him and his fellow vod to hold in spite of being few in number.

But all was not lost. For after all, Mandalorians did not cave so easily.

The Dark Lord of the Sith was content to play with her prey, it would seem. Though her words dripped sweet with honey, there was a poison behind them that the Quartermaster did not need the third eye of the Force to see. Mori mocked the death of the brave warriors that had dared to face the leader of the Sith cult, but the Quartermaster was not so easily provoked.

"They have died in battle, bravely, and their souls have ascended to rejoin the body of the Manda. As for your soul -- if I were to believe you still had one -- it is already lost to the void of which you speak." She replied almost serenely, though there was ice behind her words. "You may take our lives," the Quartermaster continued, her voice hardening as she spoke until it was as stiff as the Mandalorian steel she wore. "But you will be disappointed to find that you will never have our fear, even unto the end. I promise you that." And with her words her honor guard found courage, and rose to slay their foe.

Jax Krayt and Kabr Ordo had the privilege of being the two closest to their foe, and so it was they who launched themselves at the Dark Lord, angling to come down at Mori's right and left respectively, drawing their I'dadr beskads as they did so. Propelled by the jetpacks that they wore, Jax Krayt fired a powerful blast from his sonic repulsor at Mori's right while Kabr fired a blast from his wrist's disruptor barrels at Mori's left before they simultaneously struck out with their beskads, a sharp jab from Jax aimed at Mori's torso while Kabr made a sweeping, arcing motion aiming to seperate the arm that held the massive maul from Mori's shoulder.

Alyia Beroya and Borros Vizsla immediately positioned themselves in front of the Quartermaster, their bodies blocking any direct line of fire that could hit their liege. Standing behind them, Jaena Rook and Sabine Bralor fired their blasters at the Sith, hoping to help their brother in arms and overwhelm their foe.

"Akaan'alor," Gallius Saxon addressed him siding up to him as the throbbs of blasterfire receded as Romul's forces continued away from the epicenter of the fighting and towards the dockyard. His loyal second-in-command's armor was stained with blood and carbon scoring, the sign of good fighting and even better craftsmanship. Clean armor was ever the hallmark of a coward; a true warrior's armor bore the scars of his battle. "Death's Hand dropships are inbound to the dockyards."

Romul rumbled his acknowledgement, though his reply belied his fury. He remembered the last time he faced down the Dar'ginate, the Faithless, on the Maw's Avatar of War as they battled for the fate of Tython. Their engagement then had been inconclusive. This time, Romul would ensure that the Enclave would win victory, and a decisive one. "Has the Pretender been spotted on the ground?" He asked, heaving his massive war axe even as it dripped dark blood from a freshly-cleavered Mawite raider. He spoke in reference of Khamul Kryze, the blood traitor who dared lay claim to the title of the Mand'alor even as he called himself Darth. Romul Saxon had not yet been given the opportunity to end Kryze's heresy, though he very well looked forward to that day.

"There are no reports of Kryze among the Death Hand contigent on Rothana's surface," Gallius replied.

"Good," Romul replied, almost giving a laugh. That meant that his foe would be among the Death's Hand that were descending on the dockyard, unless he was a craven as well as a traitor. Beneath his helmet, his smile was bloody and vicious. "Our confrontation has long been overdue."

The dockyard was two-pronged, with a cavernous hangar bay at either end that afforded easy access for industrial equipment to the Ha'rangir Star Destroyer docked at either end, while a forward-facing bay allowed access for industrial transports, though now it was Death's Hand dropships that streamed past the heavy bay doors. Even as the dropships entered, Romul's war party strode into the bay from the opposite end, quickly forming a wide arcing line ready to meet their foes. "Gallius, take your men and see to it that these Star Destroyers are undocked and manned," Romul commanded as he continued to stride forward. "We will hold these Faithless at bay."

That the powerful Star Destroyers were undocked was perhaps the most crucial aspect of their mission, though doing so was no easy task. Disabling the tractor beams that tethered the Star Destroyers was easy enough, but those beams were merely redundant, and the massive magnetic clamps that held the Ha'rangir Star Destroyers in place would have to be individually and manually unlocked before the massive warships could move away from the station.

All Romul would have to do was buy time.

"BRING ME THE PRETENDER!" He roared as he charged, raising his massive beskar war axe as his Enclave Mandalorians charged with him, firing blaster rifles, plasmag rifles, heavy blaster cannons, and cryoban weaponry at the warriors that might have once been their brothers and sisters. now lost to the Sith and their perversions.

The black blade hummed at his side, flashes of white lightning sparkling along its core. Littering his vicinity were bodies, Mawdalorian and Raider alike, their blood staining the virgin snow and adding another layer to his armour; his blade so sharp it had sliced their flesh without cauterizing the wound. All the bodies, regardless of armour, were marked with similar, mortal wounds. Their deaths had been as quick as the Guildmaster's blows.

It had not been his intent to take their lives, though. He had tried offering peace, a truce. In hindsight it had been a foolish plan, but one he was obligated to as the Alor[1] of the Mando'cabur[2]. Their loss would weigh upon his mind, given time, though he could not focus on that now. Not but a minute had passed since Volo sheathed the Orar'kad[3] before he... felt something. Sensed it, rather. A presence unknown to him, not yet close enough to be detected by any of his sensors.

Volo, reluctant to divert himself, kept a steady pace as he marched through the snow, leaving the bodies behind. Still though, he kept a hand near the hilt of his lightsaber; just in case. He had come to Rothana to reinforce the defense, to lend his blade and blaster wherever they were needed, lest he become rusty.

He had no mission, no overarching operation to work towards. He had been making his way towards his clan-brother, Siv Dragr Siv Dragr 's, distress call when the Mawdalorians had confronted him. Landing on his basilisk mid-flight, like bugs to the windshield, he'd abandoned ship to distract them. Sending the basilisk on ahead, carrying two skilled Karjr warriors with it. Whether they'd reach him in time to be of use was another question.

Without transport, without reinforcements, the Guildmaster resolved to keep moving on foot. While he could, no doubt, make it to his clan-brother's position much quicker with his jetpack, he thought it a poor idea given how his sole ship had been swarmed. Bold, but not stupid; the way of the Mandalorians.

Time would tell whether his choices paid off. Whether his meagre reinforcements would find his clan-brother in time, whether his cautiousness would save him a long fall, whether the mysterious presence he felt, growing ever closer as it was, would find him. Alone and on-foot in the snowy plains of Rothana, he had nothing but time.

The swift onslaught of the Jedi was met with a dance of his own blade. Albeit less graceful than the whirlwind of two blades in perfect rhythm, the crimson saber followed to parry the strokes; where he was slower, light, efficient steps backwards would carry him into relative safety.

Poetic…” he remarked as their blades briefly interlocked before he skipped away back from the exchange. Foolish to keep her close when his reach was lengthier. “…but false.

Far away from home, Noble.” he remarked, accentuating her name. This particular Jedi’s identity was well known to the Sith as was their status among the Jedi creed. “Far away to seek your death…

A wicked smirk pulled his lips beneath the hood. “… or are the Jedi abandoning the Core again?

His left hand reached forward once more, this time to crush the snow and ice beneath her feet — fiddle with her footwork and balance, followed by a wary step forward and a heavy horizontal slash across her chest carried by the tip of his blade.

"Is that the best you can come up with, Mandalorian." she snickered. "Guess you people are as bereft of personality as the stereotype suggests."

The giant met her snicker with his own; his hateful glare underneath the glowing helmet visor betrayed the smile on his scar riddled features. He found her words, coming from an honest to Manda Sith such as herself, to be ironic. <”Who are you to talk about a lack of personality, while the likes of you are no different from those who you ‘succeed’?”> the Mandalorian asked, retorting without skipping a beat. The Fiery Witch’s answer to the inquiry raised rhetorically came in the form of a sharp laughter.

"My kind?" she chuckled. "You know nothing, Mandalorian. I'm completely different from the misbegotten kind you speak of." Her flame red hair crackled and sparked as she felt her goddess' presence at the words. "I'm much more than that."

A mere moment after her scornful words at the Vizsla, the woman disappeared out of his sight, to the giant’s surprise. Not only was she light on her feet, she could also conceal herself from sight at a whim. She was a dangerous foe and not to be underestimated, he thought; he had found a worthy match on the frozen surface of Rothana.

He would have to figure out a way to nullify that advantage of hers, somehow.

Remaining on his guard, the Vizsla took several steps forward with caution; his head on a swivel, he expected the woman to show herself and attack him from any angle.

He did not have to wait for long.

The vibrant thrum of her saber reached his ears the moment she emerged from his side. Turning at an instant to face her, sparks jutted sharply as his greatsword met the Witch’s crimson red saber. He had brought his blade to bear just in time to ward off her saber strike. <”Unseen and forgotten under the shadows cast over you, by those powerful far more than you are; desperately trying to leave your mark on the galaxy, like so many before you have tried,”> despite the despise he harbored for her ilk, the stoic giant spoke calmly as their blades locked; he continued to taunt her. Her demeanor, like the numerous servants of the Sith he had faced before, was the same, he thought. Often, they had a short fuse. When their calm was replaced with rage, once their patience -what little they had to begin with, anyway- ran out, they tended to make mistakes during a fight.

It was something he used against such foes in the past, and to good effect.

<”No matter what you say, to convince yourself otherwise,”> with a stern, forward thrust of the relic, the man broke the lock of their blades. Keeping his forward momentum, the giant of a Mandalorian switched to the offensive this time; <“You are no different, Witch,”> feigning a rightward, horizontal swipe at the Witch, the giant would swiftly halt his strike mid execution to make a gap in her defense, then thrust the point of his sword at her midriff. <”And never will be!”>
